| Silmarien Aldalome01-30-05, 05:26 AM | Hi there everyone. This is the seventh poll of seven polls that seek responses the the questions you formulated at MetaThread for the period covering the Christmas 2004 to January 2005 period. Polls 6 & 7 are additional questions that need to be asked before writing the rules. The five threads are: 1. Portal Concepts for the Inter-Foundation Games 2. PC Concepts 3. Frameworks for Overarching Rules 4. Black Operations 5. Newcomers, Recruits and Managing Level Variation 6. Roles, Hierarchies and In-Game Promotion Opportunities 7. Game Rewards & Penalties This Poll is Game Rewards & Penalties for the Inter-Foundation Games. Feel free to post comments onto the thread, and don't forget to PM or post us your URLs for your top five or so MetaThread Posts. Those URLs are a chance for you to tell us what is most important for you in the Inter-Foundation Games. Regards stav |

| Dyne01-30-05, 04:00 PM | I fail to see how this poll would give much information. Just a suggestion, but perhaps there could be a "I DON'T want" for each of the above. My votes (that don't fall into the above categories): I DON'T want rewards in the form of promotions in social roles (e.g. peasant to Counsellor). Society decides what a "peasant" is, not any kind of law. And I've already stated that I think it's a bad idea to encourage ranks because stupid people will get the idea that they're better than others. I DON'T want us all to get the same XP because it's stupid for people that do nothing to get the same as people who do much. |

The negative isn't necessary, because the poll shows total numbers and you can infer the inverse by calculation. Thanx stav |

| Kingside_Bishop02-04-05, 01:37 AM | How can you infer the inverse? If someone doesn't vote FOR something is it counted against them? What about people who are impartial?Well, say there are 20 voters (the number of people that have voted on the pole), and 13 of them voted for something. That means that 7 people voted against it. Unfortunately, there is no "impartial" option, but this kind of poll is as close as we're going to be able to get, I believe. |
| Dyne02-04-05, 07:48 PM | Well that already distorts my vote, and possibly some others. :banghead: It would've helped if that was stated ahead of time. |

| Silmarien Aldalome02-04-05, 08:46 PM | So your saying that three of the 19 voters dont want anything to do with XP rewards in a dnd game? Isnt that kind of... uhm... stupid? Hi Droga, Erm, what I'm saying is that it's not necessary to ask the 'inverse' question. It can be inferred from the 'forward' question. Someone upstream wanted the inverse question in a poll "I don't want X" - and I don't think that question is necessary. How have you been by the way? Regards stav |
| Droga02-04-05, 09:27 PM | Fine waitin for this thing to start off. Maybe I'll raise some hell at the HEF while I wait. |
| Dyne02-05-05, 01:04 AM | So your saying that three of the 19 voters dont want anything to do with XP rewards in a dnd game? Isnt that kind of... uhm... stupid? Maybe they're stupid people. The whole "inverse can be inferred from the answer" would work fine if we all knew that ahead of time. If I would've known that, I probably would've voted a little differently, and others might've too. |
