need help! [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-07-06, 10:12 AM right my char has all the pre req for imp two weapon defense but what i want to know is do the effects of both stack giving me +3 ac or does imp two weapon def replace two weapon defence thus only giving me +2 ac! it doesnt make it clear in the players hand book... some one pls help me!

03-07-06, 01:20 PM As per the SRD, i think this is legal to post

TWO-WEAPON DEFENSE [GENERAL]
Prerequisites: Dex 15, Two-Weapon Fighting.
Benefit: When wielding a double weapon or two weapons (not including natural weapons or unarmed strikes), you gain a +1 shield bonus to your AC.
When you are fighting defensively or using the total defense action, this shield bonus increases to +2.
Special: A fighter may select Two-Weapon Defense as one of his fighter bonus feats.

In short, unless the Improved feat specifically says that the bonus stacks with the original, it does not stack. An example of how this usually works is the wording of Greater Weapon Focus where it says "This bonus stacks with other bonuses on attack rolls, including the one from Weapon Focus." Unless it specifically says something along those lines it doesn't stack.
