| Demonfey03-07-07, 10:55 PM | You want to try beating on something for any reason, either too strong for a normal campaign against it at the moment or just for the hell of it, just post the character name and the creature name, and I'll do what I can to make it happen. In cases of homebrew stuff, I just need a link, and in cases of normal stuff, if its obscure, please mention the book name and I'll do what I can to get enough info on it to run the fight. Or if you want to go against another character without anything happening because of it, go wild. Just please, one fight at a time. That way, they don't get mixed together. |
| CaptainShar03-08-07, 02:57 PM | Anyone feel like having a naval combat vs. Shar and the crew of the Noumenal Blade? I've always wanted to try one. |
| turalisj03-08-07, 09:37 PM | Sure, if you feel like taking on an entire island that can't realy be sunk :P |
| CaptainShar03-08-07, 09:41 PM | Why not...if you as an ECL 15 character, with no more than 200k of gold and items, possess an unsinkable island...it ought to be a fair fight? I mean, I thought the point was more to capture the other's vessel as booty, than to sink it, anyway. Is Demonfey going to DM this? And we should probably start establishing parameters...it might be fun to have this take place in a several mile wide area, with some kind of cool shoreline or sandbars or something for maneuvering. |
| Demonfey03-08-07, 09:44 PM | I'll be monitoring things, but leaving it mostly to you two since its PC versus PC. Just post specifics about your ships (AC, HP, things like that) Arena's large as the two of you wish it to be, long as you start in the same area. |
| CaptainShar03-08-07, 09:59 PM | I don't know where I'd find a longship's HP. The PHB gives size (75 ft.), crew requirement (50), carrying capacity (52 tons or 120 soldiers, enhanced with magic), and speed (3 mph). |
| turalisj03-08-07, 10:02 PM | Arms and Equipment Guidebook gives full stats for the longship and other ships. You can find updated versions of these, aswell as more ships, in Stromwrack. |
| DungeonJman03-08-07, 10:06 PM | This'll be interesting to watch. |
| CaptainShar03-08-07, 10:07 PM | Ah. Mind PMing me with the longship entry, or at least the parts that aren't in/change from the PHB? |
| turalisj03-10-07, 01:48 PM | The kobold from the CoA entered the battle ground, a mithril breastplate adorning his chest. In one hand, he held a gleaming heavy shield also made from mithril. In the other, he held the legendary blade Kamate. He looked around the battle grounds, waiting for his foe. readied maneuvers: Steely Strike, exorcism of steel, iron heart endurance, manticore parry, finishing move, lightning recovery. |
| CaptainShar03-10-07, 02:02 PM | Why not? Let's give this a try. (I just adjusted my AC, because I realized that Bracers of Armor don't stack with regular armor.) And you'd better not cheat, because I don't really know what all those warblade maneuvers do. Let's assume a 130' X 130' arena, letters across and numbers down, no limit on upward movement. I'm in M1, you're in M26. Waken enters the arena as well, her favorite starting stance assumed: shield up and lance leveled at the opponent. Initiative: 17 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=912960) |
| turalisj03-10-07, 02:15 PM | Tibur raised his blade to the sky, uttering a cry to his god. Lyris, goddess of fate to warriors, I dedicate this battle to you! He raised up his shield and set his sword towards the centaur. He glared at her, challenging his will to win against hers. Initiating duel of wills before combat begins. If you ignore the duel, I get a +1 on melee attack rolls against you. If you lose the challenge (by making an opposed intimidate roll and failing), you get a -1 on your attack rolls and I get a +1 on attack rolls for 1 round. If you win, the opposite happens. Initiative: 16 Intimidate: 25 Rolls: Tibur Caesk'Usk (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?u=Tibur+Caesk%26%2339%3BUsk&limit=on) |
| CaptainShar03-10-07, 02:25 PM | But I won initiative. So if I feel like charging at you first I can; your intimidating hasn't happened yet. Then if you want to try to intimidate me, go ahead; good luck making that work on a Paladin. We're immune to fear. So I'm gonna charge now. Charging for 23 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=912971) to hit. Waken spurs forward before the kobold can begin speaking, but unfortunately she is distracted by his words and her lance glances off his shield. Now you can start the battle of wills if you want. I'm in M25. |
| turalisj03-10-07, 02:37 PM | Battle of Wills starts before initiative takes place. Honorless wench! You would strike at a foe before they finish a prayer to thier god? How can you call yourself a paladin! The kobold swung his blade several times. The blade struck twice against the centaur's hide, causing blood to gush out. Attack rolls: 38 (hit), 25(miss), 34(hit) Damage: 14, 22. Total of 36. Hp: 146 of 146 Rolls still under Tibur Caesk'Usk. |
| CaptainShar03-10-07, 02:53 PM | (OK; you should have explained that earlier. But for simplicity's sake we'll just say I ignored the "battle of wills.") Waken jumps into the air and stops most of the bleeding, letting go her grip on her lance and swinging her shield out of the way. I pray in the mornings. 5-ft. to N24, 5 ft. up. Lay on Hands 20. HP: 76 of 81 |
| turalisj03-10-07, 03:14 PM | The kobold smiled underneath his helm. He jumped into the air momentarily, his blade raised above his head. He brought his blade around in a scything motion, the cold steel biting into the paladin's flesh. Fly, fly as far as you can. I will strike at you where ever you go. I have trained long and hard to become the greatest swordsman in the world. Use Dancing Blade form stance, gain 5ft reach. Also used Finishing Move as a standard action, dealing +6d6 damage to a single attack. Attack: 38 Damage: 15+14 (29 total) Total damage: 36 round one -20 from lay on hands 29 round two 45 total damage Hp: 146/146 |
| CaptainShar03-10-07, 03:21 PM | Waken gets completely out of his reach and draws her shortbow and nocks an arrow. 5 ft. up to N23, 10 ft. up in the air.; drawn bow HP: 47 of 81 |
| turalisj03-10-07, 03:25 PM | The kobold raised his shield to the centuar, deady to block any attacks. Used total defense to raise ac. |
| CaptainShar03-10-07, 03:33 PM | Waken lets loose with two arrows, both of which glance off his shield. She flies up just a little further. First Attack: 25 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=913030) Second Attack: 26 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=913035) Now 15 ft. up. Edit: Unless you have a ranged option, this is going to get really boring. Because I can only hit you on a crit, with my ranged and with you using total defense. |
| turalisj03-10-07, 03:46 PM | The kobold began to yawn and kep the shield above him. Why don't you come down here and finish the fight? You won't hit me with an arrow. He swung the blade around, sending a lightning bolt at the centauress. Nope, no ranged attacks. Was thinking about getting a +1 spear, but decided against it. Edit: Duh, forgot about Kamate's special ability. 30 lightning bolt damage, or 15 on a dc14 reflex save. |
| CaptainShar03-10-07, 03:59 PM | Oh, maybe I'll come down eventually. Right now the view up here is just too good to miss. She flies up again (20 ft. up) and lets off another two arrows. First Attack: 35 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=913062); It's a crit. Confirm Crit: 26 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=913065) Second Attack: 30 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=913067); Also a crit. Confirm Crit: 11 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=913068); I'm assuming nothing bad happens on a natural 1 which was to confirm a crit. Damage 1: 15 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=913073) Damage 2: 14 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=913076) Total: 29 magical piercing damage (Hmm, maybe this will work after all.) Reflex save: 26 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=913084) I take 5 electrical damage; I have Resistance to Electricity 10 HP: 42/81 |
| turalisj03-10-07, 04:05 PM | The kobold let off another lightning bolt, this one larger than the other. Keep them coming plaladin. I may be a kobold, but I have a greater stamina than you. Damage: 35 |
| CaptainShar03-10-07, 04:13 PM | Reflex save: 23 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=913103) I take 7 electrical damage. Waken again avoids and absorbs most of the electricity; she slings her bow back behind her and again heals herself. Watch out below! Cure Serious Wounds: 14 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=913126) HP:49/81 |
| turalisj03-10-07, 04:22 PM | I say to you now, I shall defeat you! The kobold shouted, aiming his blade at Waken. Spend full-round to recover all expended maneuvers. We could use this as the point at which they meet... |
| CaptainShar03-10-07, 04:30 PM | Waken rushes back down to the ground and seizes Tibur by the shoulders. Melee touch attack: 35 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=913152) Grapple check: 36 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=913156) If you do not beat my first grapple check, you are now grappling me (and can't use your sword) and take Damage: 12 (http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=913160) magical bludgeoning lethal damage Edit: supper time now; we'll finish this some other time |
| turalisj03-10-07, 05:00 PM | No way to beat a grapple check, so he's dead. |
| CaptainShar03-10-07, 07:09 PM | All right, all right, I came down. Did you have something to say to me now that I'm here? Like maybe "I surrender"? Okay; I can either kill him or he can concede. Either way, I win. I won't keep posting; that would just be macabre. I do at least 10 damage a round, so at this point it would take me about 10 rounds to kill him. Two down, and - how many more of your incarnations to go? *I win* P.S. We could use this as the point at which they meet... Did you really want this to become official? :D |
| turalisj03-10-07, 07:53 PM | Sure. He's LN, not LE. Think wandering samuria mixed with roman gladiator. Not offical in the way of monetary gains. Just as a way of introducing a new character. The kobold thrust his blade into the ground, dropping to a knee infront of Waken. I concede defeat to you paladin. Not the kind of battle I would hav liked, but it was fun. He pulled out an ornatly mad dagger, tossing it into the ground. That dagger will serve as a pass into my fortress should you ever need assistance. He picked up his blade and put it away, also putting away his shield. He began to walk off towards the docks. |
| CaptainShar03-10-07, 07:59 PM | She picks up the dagger, examines it, and carefully tucks it into her belt next to the silver one. Thank you. The name's Waken, by the way, Waken Skydame of the Guild of Paladins and Lady of King's Pyre. If you seek admittance to either of those places I can obtain it for you. And I admire your skill with the blade; you managed to land several good blows on me, which is more than I can say for my opponent in my last fight. A little hint, though - when you're fighting someone who can fly, you want a bow. She bows and leaves as well. |
