| Silmarien Aldalome12-30-04, 11:21 PM | Hi there everyone - I'm going to take W.Cat's advice, and post a Poll thread. I've never done one of these before, but I do think they're a good idea. This is the first in a series - and the initial questions that I'm interested in is ways of getting you to contribute to the development of rules. We've all got theories about why people do or do not post at the MetaThread. I keep seeing the same quorum of (very) assertive posters. But we need your contribution as well - whoever you are, so I'm going to ask about the kind of posting environment you need to feel like you can contribute at MetaThread, in the first thread) |
| Demonfey12-30-04, 11:31 PM | My view isn't covered. That view is waiting to see what the others come up with first before contributing. |
| Silmarien Aldalome12-30-04, 11:45 PM | My view isn't covered. That view is waiting to see what the others come up with first before contributing. Thanx Demonfey - we need that information. I won't start a new thread, yet, for that question - but ask all posters, to post that view as well, if they hold it, here. I can get a litmus test for it by way of your posts. If you need more anyonymity, please PM me and I'll close this poll and start another for you. regards stav |
| king_of_evil00712-30-04, 11:55 PM | *drumroll* Double Post! w007! |
| king_of_evil00712-30-04, 11:55 PM | I don't really feel any of those. . . I can definitely see what some people might think, but for me, I've felt welcomed, that most people listen to my views, and i have no real problems with it as is. . . it can sometimes get a bit confused or hectic in there (when the games were 'reopened', for example, like 2 pages went by pretty quickly for me). But put my vote down for "None of the above" :D |
| Silmarien Aldalome12-30-04, 11:57 PM | Hmm, I needed an option for "I do contribute" - thank you KoE, Regards stav |
| Demonfey12-30-04, 11:58 PM | I have said what I felt before, and now it is up to you all to decide if it is possible or not (see my "Blunt", "PEOPLE NEED TO REMEMBER IT"S ONLY A ****ING GAME" post.) |
| jagggar12-30-04, 11:58 PM | I feel I am a noisy poster. |
| Silmarien Aldalome12-31-04, 12:07 AM | Thanx Jagggar - you are a valued and appreciated poster. @Demonfey Yes - it's too serious and it is only a game. Maybe I needed an option "lighten it up a little". regards stav |
| king_of_evil00712-31-04, 12:29 AM | One I wish we could add - "I'm a shy newcomer. I don't want to cause problems, and I may be intimidated by the vast undertaking". Definitely something I want to try to prevent. |
| grimclaw12-31-04, 05:31 AM | Thanx Jagggar - you are a valued and appreciated poster. @Demonfey Yes - it's too serious and it is only a game. Maybe I needed an option "lighten it up a little". regards stav I believe my roguish sense of humor keeps things relatively light. :D |
| Tenzhi12-31-04, 07:53 AM | Options 1 and 5 are the same, though I think you intended them to be opposites. |
| Aramar the Black12-31-04, 12:43 PM | I don't think my view is really up there. With a few exception, I only get to come here a few days a week, and I feel more comfortable watching the progressmof the others, then contribute on some tings, and see how things go from there. I try not to get too involved, becuase of my unfortunite scheduele. Actually, KoE's suggestion is probably the closest to my view, minus the vast undertaking. |
| BronzeBeard12-31-04, 02:20 PM | "I think Sil's ignoring me and my grand ideas" will be the one I choose. |
| Droga01-01-05, 03:42 PM | What about, "One of the GMs is a dictator and takes any kind of critisiism as a personal attack. So he labels you a problem poster." That one work for anybody else? |
| Silmarien Aldalome01-01-05, 07:47 PM | Droga - erm, I see the usual warm and fuzzies from you. Should I take your bait? Should I respond in kind? I don't think so. If I was what you say - I wouldn't be able to write this Post to you on these terms. Ahh, yes, it's good to be alive. :) How about you tell a little higher truth and accept that: we bath people in their weaknesses, distort them, construct them as mosters, when we have a personal axe to grind - and when we need to conceal our vulnerabilities from ourself and from others". If you've come to make trouble - don't. But if you've come to be productive - show it in your posts and I'll take that at face value. If you're here to try to build bridges - show me you can do that by being mature and well-mannered. @All I'm taking ideas in PMs about the kind of polls you'd like to ask. Regards stav |
| Demonfey01-01-05, 11:06 PM | In my case, I just thought it could be one that others had, and so thought it would be good to post. |
| WizO_Catoblepas01-01-05, 11:53 PM | Ok, let's just take part in the poll. Please keep the posts from being personal since this is considered baiting and is against the Code of Conduct. |
| Bait the Bard01-02-05, 12:03 AM |'s to Cat (even I can't spell it ;) ) As for my veiw of this poll, I don't have really any opinion at all, seeing as I don't 'play' as a character, or use any of the rules. However, I see a need for other people on this forum to get heard, or suggest something, and someone who will support their veiw, for often, when they do voice an opinion, it will be ignored, or not seen. |
| BronzeBeard01-02-05, 03:19 AM | eahm eahm *clears throat* We need rulez, we need 'em fast! |
| Tenzhi01-02-05, 03:25 AM | eahm eahm *clears throat* We need rulez, we need 'em fast! Where did that come from, I wonder? It couldn't have been BronzeBeard, because as I recall he left. Wherever it came from, it is a viewpoint that I wholeheartedly concur with. |
| grimclaw01-02-05, 03:27 AM | eahm eahm *clears throat* We need rulez, we need 'em fast! I second that but lets not go overboard on em.Simple and straightforward. |
| Silmarien Aldalome01-02-05, 03:36 AM | I'm going to poll some options about rules in the next two or three days. The tasks for rules is: polls council (GMs need to brief and get ourselves "on the same page" and forge a product (based on consultation)) submit to WizOs for review delegate Stickes and cut the threads we will need set up a review phase - to see how they went The timeline isn't going to be under 20 days to a month. These things can't be rushed too much. In the meantime - post cautiously. regards stav |
| BronzeBeard01-02-05, 04:30 AM | Where did that come from, I wonder? It couldn't have been BronzeBeard, because as I recall he left. Wherever it came from, it is a viewpoint that I wholeheartedly concur with. Don't get smart on me. I'm not playing anymore but I might give you the systems I made. |
| Tenzhi01-02-05, 04:58 AM | Don't get smart on me. Soft, BB, 'twas not ill-meant nor meant to have any meaning at all, really. Such wry observations, witty (or witless by some accounts) remarks, and other phrases of an aleck nature spring forth from my thoughts unbidden and as naturally as a person's breath. Rarely do I intend offense, and never with such a relatively innocent remark as that made here. There is only one in this section of the message boards that has come close to awakening my ire and it is not thee. |

| Jharviss01-03-05, 08:51 PM | I haven't said much, and I have a reason for this... let me explain my reason for not being more active: I don't know how! For the life of me, I cannot figure out what is happening here, what's happening there, what's happening anywhere. The only thing that has made sense so far is Grimlock's city, which rocks, and even there I'm slightly confused. What I am recommending is that we get one person, a single human being, and make him keep track of the rules. I would definately volunteer for this, and I think BB once did. In the prime metathread you have, within the first post, a section that you have marked to hold the rules. I say go ahead and post there everything that you can, everything that's logical. I have a lot of free time, but not enough to read all of that forum, where other people have and no what's happening. If no rules have been created, I'll create them and set them in stone. I apologize for my arrogant attitude, but I am sure that if people told me the basics of what they wanted, I could make a system that would pretty much make everybody happy. Its as simple as that. Furthermore, I'd be willing to do it all! And no, not just say it, but actually do it. I could have it done within a week if you told me what you wanted. When I say "what you wanted" I mean the feel of the game. I think our biggest issue here is not knowing what 'feel' everyone wants, if you know what I mean. Right, anyways, I answered the poll in the second paragraph and then started droning on. Good day to yous. |

The rules are still in development They are not being made by a single person because of a few problems we've had with others not agreeing with rules. But they are in development, if you have any ideas, feel free to post them. |
| Xen15501-03-05, 09:42 PM | I always feel out of place in a rules disscussion becuase I think that the people who have been given authority were given it for a good enough reason and becuase of that I believe that these people should have complete authority in rule making, like a DM has. |

We ask for your opinions because it makes it a better game when things are more the way the people want them. Orcy knows theres some things DMs he has had do that all the players would like changed. It may feel a bit weird, but it helps to prevent anger issues later on. |
| Xen15501-03-05, 09:53 PM | But are not these anger issues mute, with the exception of moderators, once a rule is made there should be no contesting it becuase the GMs are the only authority on the matter. |

Then talk about it when the rules are not yet made. Orcy reminds you that no rules have been made official yet. We (the community) are still working on them. If you don't feel right commenting when the rules are made, then now is your chance since the rules are not made. |

It is a very tricky matter to keep track of developments *sighs*. And - there are no firm outcomes yet, so we can't give clear answers to what will be. We will won't be actually doing any game play until the rules are cut, and put into stone on a sticky. But - because we're doing the community consultation thing (deliberative democracy) it will slow us down. The voting will retard a speedy outcome - and we can't even post a Poll thread until we are clear about where the differences of opinion are. But - *sighs* that's life really - a step at a time. Thanx for your post - it's very thoughtful regards stav |

But the fact remains that there are no rules (besides character creation which I already summerized, twice  ) - It's complete chaos around here and I can no longer keep track of so many people at once. Once I find a rule that is set in stone I will write it up. |
