{PREVIEW} - This thread is a preview of the offical Citadel of the Source thread. It will be created after the board change and "{PREVIEW}" will be replaced with "{IFWG}" All threads part of the Inter-Foundation War Games will start with this tag. All threads part of the IFWG will be started by the GMs (in case we need to close the topics for any reason - cheifly, to create a new topic and to keep people from bumpping the old).

Citadel of the Source

As you step out of the mist, you feel light-headed. Your recovering senses tell you of a grand room with a high-vaulted ceiling which would allow even the mightest of dragons to move freely about the room. The thick mist, behind you, does not disapate nor is it moved by the slight breeze that flows through the room. You notice a few others who, like you, have stepped through this mist.

All characters will start here. No exceptions.

I probably need something nice'n'pretty'n'RP, but all characters will be given free food and lodging here.

Once a guild is established, the guild will get a free 'advertisement booth' so to speak. You'll get an NPC who can take messages, etc. and give them to the PC guild members when they return. When a guild claims a territory, the portal in that territory will be linked back to the Citadel of the Source for ease of travel.

Questions so far?

Why is it mandatory we start here? And I'm not realy clear on the whole point of this? Is it purely an advertising spot? If so... why is it mandatory we stay here? Wouldn't it make more sense to just show up when we feel we need to advertise our guild?

I like it myself.
This will make things easier to manage.
I give it the good old

Why is it mandatory we start here?
One of the problems last round was just created characters showing up for an encounter already in process and then people whining that it shouldn't happen that way (because the character hadn't been introduced elsewhere or wouldn't have any connection to the parties envolved). Everyone starting at one point, coming from whatever respective world their character comes from with no connection to Tyrannor or its Guild Wars will prevent both "popping-in" where you don't belong, or secret alliances being made between characters that don't exist yet.

And I'm not realy clear on the whole point of this? Is it purely an advertising spot? If so... why is it mandatory we stay here?
No, it's the center of Tyannor Proper and the main head quarters of the Guild Wars (jagggar, Kayne, and Sssargoth will all have offices here).
There's no need to stay here, that's just a bonus. If you want to head out into TyrannorP and get a room at the inn you can do that, but it won't be free.

Wouldn't it make more sense to just show up when we feel we need to advertise our guild?
Well, unless you've got a way to teleport here and back to where your group is without wasting too many resources, that won't really work. Another factor in the "popping-in" problem was no real travel times. As we talked about one of the problems in our balance being that we were skimming over a few too many essencial D&D rules, travel is one of those things we're putting back in.

I'll make a cheezy sample post without much effort. (I'll be saving my effort for actually running stuff.) If you kinda feel like you've got the idea, feel free to create a cheezy character so I don't have to talk to my self the whole time. As my cheezy character sort of gets done at one area, I'll move on to create a new topic to represent the new area (just as we'll do in the actual IFWG).

Poster A:
Bob Swordsman steps through the mist and begins shaking his head, looking around. "Where am I?"

Poster B:
Medium Rary steps out of the mist smacking his feline familiar, "I told you this wasn't the way to Joel's Crawdad Shanty."

Poster C:
CoDzilla who just stepped through a moment ago approaches the newest arrivals. "You two wouldn't happen to like killing creatures who are totally minding their own business just to steal their shinies, would you?"

Poster A:
"Do I? It's my favorite thing to do!"

Poster B:
"Same here, it's my favorite right after giving kitty a flea-dip."

Posters A, B, and C's characters talk a bit more and make it offical that they'd like to be a guild.

GM 1
A semi-random person who tends to hang out at the Citadel for no particular reason carefully approaches the new guild. "Excuse me, but did I hear you say that you like to kill creatures who are minding their own business and steal their shinies? I just love shinies, and I'd just love to work with a group like yours. Is there any way I could help?"

Poster A:
"Well, how are you at sitting behind a desk? Pretty good, eh? Well, you sit over there, and if you see someone who looks like they like to do it from behind, give them our number."

GM 1
"Oh thankyou, thankyou, thankyou! I'll be the best desk-sitter you've ever known!"

GM 1 tells Posters A, B, and C that they should decide who will play their desk-sitter. They discuss it and decide that they should be able to share the roll okay. Whoever is on first will respond and follow-up until the disucssion with whoever is done.

...see someone who looks like they like to do it from behind...

That part gave me immature giggles... :P

But beyond that point, I now have a better understanding about what this is about. It's like a place for you to IG find the other members of your guild and also to find NPC representives. Makes more sense with an example :D

See, the bad thing? I actually forget what the punchline is. . .

Yeah, thought it would be better with an example.
My hope for what happens is that knowing the example, you guys will better be able to start off the topic. Then new people who come along will see that as the example, and we won't have tons of confusion.

Sorry, very homophobic jokes... despite the fact I'm pro-homosexual (though not directly one myself)....

but anywayz, yah, examples are fun and get the general jist of wtf is going on.
