| Dyne01-01-06, 08:02 PM | Guild Name: Stormhand Federation Guild Charter: The Stormhand Federation is a guild with its origins rooted in the human feudal system of nobility and royalty. In addition to its regal background, the Stormhand Federation is dedicated to the study and application of electrical and storm-related magic and abilities. Currently, the Stormhand Federation is in pursuit of World Conquest. And to avoid future questions: The Stormhand Federation is Lawful Evil. The Core Principles of the Stormhand Federation are outlined in The Three Honors (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6743729&postcount=239) and Unity Politics (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=6666642&postcount=191). Members are encouraged to follow these precepts, as they will lead them to success and bring glory to themselves and the Stormhand Federation. | Dyne01-01-06, 08:03 PM | Reserved 2 All right, let the posting begin. |
| premier66601-01-06, 08:05 PM | Raynor sighs and relaxes his stance. All that for a kid? he thinks to himself. As long as that kid is our prisioner I'm not gonna alow his removal of the casttle, but I think that keeping this boy here is useless. We gain nothing but enemies. |
| Dyne01-01-06, 08:08 PM | "We already have enemies, Raynor. Would you prefer to display weakness to them? Appease them? Nevermind, we should get inside, discuss this away from the night chill." Alexander turns and heads back to the meeting chamber. Behind him, two guards carry the child back inside. |
| premier66601-01-06, 08:10 PM | Raynor Shrugs, and also head back into the castle. |
| Zombomaniac01-01-06, 08:12 PM | Jacob takes the boy from guards, amazed he was not hurt when the Staure attacked. "No Alexander we will handle this now. Your treament of this boy has been anything, but good. Even under the reasons of "sercurity" your treatment is unacceptable." |
| Dyne01-01-06, 08:19 PM | Jacob takes the boy from guards, amazed he was not hurt when the Staure attacked. "No Alexander we will handle this now. Your treament of this boy has been anything, but good. Even under the reasons of "sercurity" your treatment is unacceptable." "Jacob, your actions can be considered treason. You have been tolerated this long, even though your bounty on Sargatanas in large part caused his destruction. And since then, you have even abandoned us, and left to start your own group. "But as I said, your actions are tolerated, as a welcome guest. But some may doubt where your loyalties truly lie, especially after your recent actions." When Jacob tries to snatch the boy away, he can't seem to get a grip on him. Zombo, your guy technically doesn't even exist IG until he has stats. So, while he can talk and move around, he can't really do anything else. He can't kill, because he can't be killed; he can't manipulate objects, since he can't be physically manipulated. |
| jagggar01-01-06, 08:19 PM | Overall the boy's situation isn't too bad. I mean, he's in a nice cozy room. He may be protected from rescuers, but he's also protected from anyone who would mean him harm. Assuming he's just a peasant, he probably is safer than if he was back at home at his village and definately safer if he lives in a fairly populated area. Okay, this boy is a messanger, so his 'crime' is different, but long while back I heard a story along the lines of a boy getting caught stealing bread from the castle kitchen and he was thrown in the dungeon. Well, they forgot about him and when they finally remembered, they found him dead, part of his own finger chewed off. So our boy here is in pretty good shape. |
| Zombomaniac01-01-06, 08:22 PM | Edit your post Dyne I have everything but spells choosen for Jacob and I am choosing them right now. |
| Dyne01-01-06, 08:25 PM | Edit your post Dyne I have everything but spells choosen for Jacob and I am choosing them right now. I'd be happy to when he's been approved. Right now, though, I don't see why he needs to yank the kid around constantly. Just talking should be fine. |
| Pytho_Orthan01-01-06, 08:27 PM | You do realize that every reason you have for holding the boy is no more than metagaming do you not? The boy never said "I killed Sargatanas." Nor did he say anything of the sort. He said he was dead, that is the extent of his 'crime' and his involvement in the matter. |

Nor did he say anything of the sort. He said he was dead, that is the extent of his 'crime' and his involvement in the matter. If a kid just showed up out of nowhere, spouting off about how the Lord of the Damned is dead, that would scare the hell out of me. Living in the fantasy world of Tyranor, Alexander had a similar reaction, and wondered himself if that were even a boy at all. After all, what would a child be doing in a guild that has a reputation of being evil tyrants? Metagaming has nothing to do with it. |
| Pytho_Orthan01-01-06, 08:54 PM | (If not already closed) The doors slam themselves shut behind the group. The many voices speak out all at once. "Your time is up." |

IF anyone is on approve it, but since that will take far to long and we have never waited before so I shall start. Jacob does take the boy and after Alexander's speech he merely smilies. He also seems unworried of the voices for he has done nothing wrong. "Alexander I felt Queen Ashariana would lead better than I and I needed to find things out about myself aswell and as you can tell I was right. She has lead wonderusly, but that matters little as I can tell it will not likely get through to you." Jacob looks to the boy with knowledged eyes. "In my travels I gazed upon the pits of Hell and the Forests of Bytopia, the depths of the Abyss and all the way to the 5th Layer of Celestia. I even died once Alexander. Tell me have you ever died?" |

Raynor Aproaches Jacob. He does not seem to mean any harm. (yet) I have. He says, with a smile. Now, Jacob, the kid stays. Until our queen tells otherwise, he is a prisioner, regadless of age. |
| Dyne01-01-06, 09:04 PM | "Judging from your actions, I see your death has brought you no wisdom. If you want to remove the chains, then by all means. But for gods' sakes why would you take him to Sargatanas's assassins? Have you heart at all? Can you not even imagine what the boy's fate might be if he were taken to such people, the kind that were so careless as to send him here? "When I first saw the boy there, I couldn't believe my eyes. I assumed there were some strange magic at work. If he were even a boy at all, surely he wasn't a normal boy. After all, what would a normal boy be doing here? After the reputation we've garnered, and our connection to Sargatanas? Worse yet, how would this little boy have known about Sargatanas's destruction, the fall of the Lord of the Damned, even before we have? Do you not find that strange at all? "No, Jacob, I cannot allow you to take the boy. If he is just a regular boy, he would be much better off here. At least here he will have a comfortable room in which to stay, safe from intruders, have meals to eat, and he won't be used to run messages to enemies. If you have a shred of compassion within you, you will see that he should stay here. If you take him back to his masters, you will be leading him to his doom" |

It was the torture that killed me. Perhaps we should share stories sometime." Jacob makes not moves to step away. He has no fear in his eyes or aura. I truest them to take care of him and if they won't then there are always other places and people, including myself." Jacob looks about trying to find the source of th voices though hefeels he will not see them. |

| Dyne01-01-06, 09:24 PM | "The Halls of Refuge?" Alexander starts to crack, before he bursts out laughing. "Why didn't you say so? For gods' sakes, that would be a better place than here. If you can teleport, it would probably be better to take him as soon as possible. I feel... eyes, watching me. The Halls of Refuge would surely be a safer place than here, and it would be good to get him off our hands. "Promise me one thing, though: This matter must be investigated further. There's more than meets the eye here. Whoever is behind Sargatanas's assassination is a dangerous threat, and they may target us next." |
| jagggar01-01-06, 09:25 PM | Jacob looks pretty good to me if approval is still an issue. I think though that the charisma vest should probably be sacred instead of profane. Other than that. |
| Pytho_Orthan01-01-06, 09:27 PM | May I ask that you put a hold on things while I straighten a few things out with Dyne... so far he is refusing to aknowledge my right to secrecy. |
| Dyne01-01-06, 09:29 PM | May I ask that you put a hold on things while I straighten a few things out with Dyne... so far he is refusing to aknowledge my right to secrecy. Nope, too bad. I handle things on the threads, not through PMs. |

"Worry not Alexander, despite "abandening" the place of my birth I still want it to prosper and this new force is unknown. Even without the reasons of the Federation's well being I must still think of my guild and all of Tryanor. As such I must learn more of them. If they threaten the goodness of Tryanor then I shall deal with them and will count on your support." | turalisj01-01-06, 09:40 PM | nevermind. Don't know why no windows would be open, seeing as how castles don't have any other way of circulating air. |
| Dyne01-01-06, 09:41 PM | Much as Silmarien will not post with those who do not wish her well? No, more like "I don't play with those who don't follow the rules." I have been reading the posts here for a while now, but I never thought you all would be so hostile. |
| Dyne01-01-06, 09:48 PM | Has the guild house always been this unwelcoming to new players? I have been reading the posts here for a while now, but I never thought you all would be so hostile. We eat newcomers. Especially babies. You will know if you fail. Sorry, not good enough. |
| Zombomaniac01-01-06, 09:49 PM | I got a great idea. :lightbulb How 'bout, now bear with me hear this may be a new iea, but how 'bout you......roll the save. :ayyyy!: You see when you make them you will inevatably find out what they are afterward. You can also make spot, listen, spellcraft, knowledge and whatever you feel like checks to figure it out. So what do say? :D Make the saves and we be on our marry little way or dont and we wait for GMs to pull their power strings. :) Has the guild house always been this unwelcoming to new players? No other than what we do to Sil I have never seen this kinda treatment. I think it is cause you killed someone by doing it. People are wiered out by it and thus untruesting. Though they should truest the GMs enough to go along with in. There is also the other guy who did something similar to this, but we never treated him this way. There is also the fact that you are using the Covert Ops we oursleves made. So i dont see why are can truest. |
| premier66601-01-06, 09:51 PM | Has the guild house always been this unwelcoming to new players? I have been reading the posts here for a while now, but I never thought you all would be so hostile. Maybe its because you show to everyone that you do not trust them? Even Sil and Sargs posted their character in the boards. I'm not trying to be hostile, I'm just stating a fact. |

I'm not trying to be hostile, I'm just stating a fact. My entire character concept revolves around secrets and mystery. To simply state "this is what I am capable of, counter it" will COMPLETELY defeat the purpose of the character. |
| Dyne01-01-06, 09:52 PM | I got a great idea. :) Pytho_Orthan's character isn't legal. I already said why, on meta. I've already got several examples in the rules where it specifically states that characters must be posted on the character thread in order to be approved. |

| turalisj01-01-06, 09:52 PM | Well, your secrecy is a bit unorthodoxed to most of us. We're all used to seeing a character sheet to look over at the pc4 thread and comment on. That's why its there. But then again, the part about not telling Dyne WHAT he should save for shouldn't be considered playing outside of the rules. Would your dm tell you what spell some bbeg just used on you? Most likely not.... |

| premier66601-01-06, 09:56 PM | My entire character concept revolves around secrets and mystery. To simply state "this is what I am capable of, counter it" will COMPLETELY defeat the purpose of the character. In other words: "I think that if I show my character you will all (as good metagamers that you are) make a character specifically to fight him." Thats what I hear when you say that. |
| Dyne01-01-06, 09:56 PM | Would your DM show you the stats to the BBEG? That doesn't work. Know why? You're not the DM, and your character is not an NPC. And the rules specifically state that all characters must be posted up on the character thread, and that has worked up until now. Changing it would cause problems, like this. |
| Pytho_Orthan01-01-06, 09:57 PM | Then where is the character statistics for the man attacking Silimna? Why has nobody complained about that? Because it does not effect them. |
| premier66601-01-06, 09:58 PM | Then where is the character statistics for the man attacking Silimna? Why has nobody complained about that? Because it does not effect them. I would complain about that. but I did not knew that till now. |
| Zombomaniac01-01-06, 09:59 PM | Then where is the character statistics for the man attacking Silimna? Why has nobody complained about that? Because it does not effect them. Man makes a point that I also stated afew post back. This is the same as what is happening to Sil. Except that Sil isnt calling anyone a cheater. |
| Dyne01-01-06, 09:59 PM | Then where is the character statistics for the man attacking Silimna? Why has nobody complained about that? Because it does not effect them. I'm not involved. If he tried that against me, hells yeah I would say something. And Silmarien has every right to say something about it now. Man makes a point that I also stated afew post back. This is the same as what is happening to Sil. Except that Sil isnt calling anyone a cheater. Sil hasn't even been here since then. Wouldn't surprise me if he left the boards, unless he's just taking a very long vacation. |
| turalisj01-01-06, 10:00 PM | Same here. But if you find him, tell him I said thanks for taking a shot at Sil. :D |
| Zombomaniac01-01-06, 10:01 PM | I'm not involved. If he tried that against me, hells yeah I would say something. And Silmarien has every right to say something about it now. And do you know why Sil isnt saying anything? Because he truests the GMs to do the job we put them in power to do. I have only ever made a post thrashing Sil don't make me make one for you Dyne. I dont like making them. |
| Pytho_Orthan01-01-06, 10:02 PM | I'm not involved. If he tried that against me, hells yeah I would say something. And Silmarien has every right to say something about it now. I will not post my character unless the GMs force me to do so. Since they have not, and the character is approved, my actions are perfectly legal. Your refusal to make the saves however, are simply an attempt to save yourself. I will not discuss this any longer. My character has been approved, the GMs can say rule 0 if they want, I will NOT sit here and be called a cheater any longer. Make the saves. |
| jagggar01-01-06, 10:05 PM | Sil hasn't replied either. But more to the point: Mr. Shadowy's character is on the thread. I won't tell you which character sheet it is, but it is there. Please everyone take this to metathread. I don't want to see the first five pages of the SF2 to be this conversation. |
| Zombomaniac01-01-06, 10:05 PM | Ok we are all getting really angery here, before anyone makes any more posts take a few deep breaths and relax for a sec. |
| Dyne01-01-06, 10:05 PM | And do you know why Sil isnt saying anything? Because he truests the GMs to do the job we put them in power to do. Who's we? I didn't make the decision of who got picked. The WizO's did, and they left us to pick up the pieces. I trust the GMs to do what they think will benefit the community most (except when Sssargoth is trying to squeeze a few gold out of us here and there), but I know nobody is perfect. And I wouldn't put such a great deal of pressure on a handful of people. We should all police ourselves AND each other, the GMs just step in as a voice of authority. That's the way it's always worked. I have only ever made a post thrashing Sil don't make me make one for you Dyne. I dont like making them. I don't mind, gimme your best shot. I could use a good roasting. |

Please make the saves and trust the GMs. |
| turalisj01-01-06, 10:07 PM | That's the way it's always worked. Always being a relative term.... |
| jagggar01-01-06, 10:11 PM | Take all of this to Meta-Thread (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=541272) As for the rolls, I, a GM, would like to know what he is rolling for. PM actions being taken please. Edit: Location as well in case it comes into the picture. I will not force saves until I have the info. |
| Dyne01-01-06, 10:11 PM | Please everyone take this to metathread. I don't want to see the first five pages of the SF2 to be this conversation. Gods, who cares. I'm the only one that's ever kept this thing alive all along anyway. You see? This is use of Covert Ops rules. ALL legal. Please make the saves and truest the GMs. No, it's not. From the first post of PC 4: This is the most current Player Character Thread. Your character must appear here to be approved. From the Welcome to the Guild House! thread: Each player may create a maximum of three 15th level characters, and three 10th level characters, none of which may be in the same guild. Use these rules (http://www.wizards.com/leaving.asp?url=http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5132815&postcount=5&origin=). Once you’ve created a character, post the character to this thread (http://www.wizards.com/leaving.asp?url=http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=360911&origin=), using this template (http://www.wizards.com/leaving.asp?url=http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5132753&postcount=3&origin=) to fill out the information and then send a Private Message to this person (http://www.wizards.com/leaving.asp?url=http://boards1.wizards.com/member.php?userid=328700&origin=), containing a link to your posted character. |
| Dyne01-01-06, 10:13 PM | Always being a relative term.... Yeah, being relative to "from the beginning till now." |
| Zombomaniac01-01-06, 10:15 PM | Jaggar said it is posted. If it is posted then it is legal you said that your self. It is posted. It is legal. Jagggar has said this. |
| Pytho_Orthan01-01-06, 10:15 PM | Yeah, being relative to "from the beginning till now." Indeed, that is why the game has fallen apart before and is currently in it second "incarnation." The policing of eachother has done wonders for the game thus far indeed. |
| turalisj01-01-06, 10:17 PM | But more to the point: Mr. Shadowy's character is on the thread. I won't tell you which character sheet it is, but it is there. Proof above Dyne. Now make the damn saves so we can move on with this. |
| Pytho_Orthan01-01-06, 10:18 PM | Proof above Dyne. Now make the damn saves so we can move on with this. This refers to the man attacking Silimna, not myself. |
| Dyne01-01-06, 10:18 PM | Proof above Dyne. Now make the damn saves so we can move on with this. Mr. Shadowy isn't Pytho. Mr. Shadowy is the guy trying to kill Sil. |
| Dyne01-01-06, 10:21 PM | Double post. |
| turalisj01-01-06, 10:21 PM | Well, this has been going nowhere as fast as trying to kill sil's character. That said, have fun trying to figure this out. |
| Zombomaniac01-01-06, 10:22 PM | Dyne you want to find out what his PC is like so bad then make the saves, use divination spells, hire the SBaB. He told you if you make the saves you will find out what it is. SBaB's job is finding stuff out. They already want to hunt him down so this works for you. |
| Dyne01-01-06, 10:22 PM | Jaggar said it is posted. If it is posted then it is legal you said that your self. It is posted. It is legal. Jagggar has said this. What are you talking about? |
| Zombomaniac01-01-06, 10:23 PM | What are you talking about? Miscomunication. ignore that post. |
| Pytho_Orthan01-01-06, 10:23 PM | Dyne you want to find out what his PC is like so bad then make the saves, use divination spells, hire the SBaB. He told you if you make the saves you will find out what it is. SBaB's job is finding stuff out. They already want to hunt him down so this works for you. Unfortunately for my ideas, I fear that once he does find out what my character can do, he will simply tell you all OOC. |

| Pytho_Orthan01-01-06, 10:27 PM | If his stats are posted on the PC #4 and approved by Demonfey, I would be glad to. You already know this will not happen. This all seems to be some sort of attempt to save yourself after believing I was bluffing. It is not going to work. |
| Dyne01-01-06, 10:28 PM | Unfortunately for my ideas, I fear that once he does find out what my character can do, he will simply tell you all OOC. If you don't trust me, why should I trust you? |
| Pytho_Orthan01-01-06, 10:29 PM | If you don't trust me, why should I trust you? You've given me no reason to trust you. You do not trust me simply because I won't show you every little strength and weakness my character has so that you may counter it. You have done nothing but insult me and call me a cheater since I have arrived here. If this is how you treat newcomers I am amazed there is anyone left. |

| Pytho_Orthan01-01-06, 10:33 PM | I could say the exact same thing about you, so I guess we're even. No, we are not. I have made every attempt to be respectful and held back many an insult I have wished to sling. I am still attempting to settle this in a way we can both accept, but posting my character is not that way. |
| Zombomaniac01-01-06, 10:34 PM | You know what F*** it. I dont care anymore. Thats how stupid this has become. I never stopped caring even when Sil was being a bi***, but somehow you can do it Dyne. You even got me past my habit of not cussing cause I dont like to. Congadulations, your the first, your worse than Sil, and heres you honorary plack. Your on your own on this Dyne and I'm sorry to say, but so are you Pytho. I dont think Pytho needs to post his PC since the GMs approve of it, but hey whatever its not like I haven't been playing DnD for a few years now or anything. So good luck and enjoy yoursleves and F*** you both I'm going to eat dinner. |
| jagggar01-01-06, 10:36 PM | Well, I was going to hand out some XP for RP, but since we can't follow simple directions and continue the battle of yes-vs-no in meta, that XP's quickly diminishing. Here's how things will work: Next time Necrodude is on he will cast a vote if Pytho must post his character or not. Until that time: Dyne, go ahead and make the saves. Everyone can feel free to continue this arguing in Meta. |
| premier66601-01-06, 10:37 PM | Well, I'm off to bad. Hopefully when I wake up this discussion will be ended and we can get back to business. G'night to all. |

Launching pies at people realy helps.... |
| Pytho_Orthan01-01-06, 10:40 PM | I don't even know if I wish to remain here. I come here to have fun, and one man wishes to do everything he can to ruin that fun for me. Now it seems everyone dislikes me because I don't wish to post my character, which has been accepted by the GMs, or was until this converastion began. I doubt I'll ever have any sort of respect from any posters after this conversation, and that simply doesn't seem right. That one man's stubbornness and refusal to allow anyone but himself to have a good time should cause this. |
| turalisj01-01-06, 10:47 PM | Believe me, this isn't the first time something like this has happend, nor will it likely be the last. |
| Tenzhi01-01-06, 11:41 PM | Now it seems everyone dislikes me because I don't wish to post my character, which has been accepted by the GMs, or was until this converastion began. Not everyone dislikes you. Personally, I'm intrigued by your scheming and where you may be going with all of this. Indeed, this whole scenario goes back to something I said about the players here also partially taking the roles of GMs (in conjunction with the actual DMs, of course) - it's almost a necessity in order to get things moving and have interesting stuff going on. From my point of view, the saving throw you're asking for is no different than if a DM asked for a saving throw due to an unknown action of an NPC - and it doesn't matter that he's NOT a DM, it is enough that it is sanctioned by the DMs (and if it ceases to be sanctioned by the DMs, I will of course no longer support it ;) ). |
| Demonfey01-01-06, 11:48 PM | Then where is the character statistics for the man attacking Silimna? Why has nobody complained about that? Because it does not effect them. I struck a deal: after the attack, he has to post the stats immediately afterwards. |
| Wilds01-02-06, 01:36 PM | nm |
| Sargatanas01-02-06, 01:47 PM | Good god, GROW UP PEOPLE. The GMs said its alright, so its alright. snip snip |
| Tenzhi01-03-06, 08:13 AM | If you werent scared you would openly post your character. Ironic that you should say that, as it is from the fear of the unknown that the need to see it comes. Kind of like the bloodthirsty mob with torches and pitchforks calling Frankenstein's creation a "monster." |
| Wilds01-03-06, 11:12 AM | Fear of the unknown is what drives every person. That elusive shadow, the strange noise, that figment person that your mind thinks follows you every where. Yes I was scared of pythos char at first. How he could kill 4 people with out any commotion. Seeing his char would have been good enough. Too see how he killed them soo easily. But now that has all changed. I dont really care anymore. |
| Dyne02-14-07, 11:58 PM | I wonder if it is too much to ask that this thread be given a second chance to live, focusing this time just on game material and flavor, doing without the IFWG. A discussion on storm magic, warfare, politics, and everything inbetween. |
| Dyne02-15-07, 04:29 AM | A new creation I came up with, since I deemed the gunpowder bombs of the DMG to be too expensive (compared to other alchemical items, such as Alchemist's Fire). Smokepowder Bombs Smokepowder bombs utilize an explosive substance (smokepowder) as a weapon, destroying enemies, structures, siege engines: anything you need blown up. Smokepowder is a newer substance, created by the wonders of alchemy. While it can be used to propel bullets from firearms, smokepowder can also be used to create explosives. Smokepowder bombs function like other grenade weapons: they deal the listed fire damage to all creatures within the list blast radius. Anyone caught in the blast radius can make a Reflex save (DC 15) to take half damage. Cost Damage Radius Range Increment 80 gp 2d6 10 ft. 10 ft. 180 gp 3d6 10 ft. 10 ft. 320 gp 4d6 15 ft. 10 ft. 500 gp 5d6 15 ft. 10 ft. and so on Let me know what you think. |
| Demonfey02-15-07, 04:47 PM | I like it. Reminds me of the effigy chicken bomb idea. |
| Dyne02-15-07, 04:53 PM | I like it. Reminds me of the effigy chicken bomb idea. Mhmm. I basically took the bombs from the DMG and tried to give them a more reasonable price, as well as have bigger versions of it. Oh, and I increased the blast radius to 10 ft. instead of just 5 ft. (and larger bombs have an even larger radius) |
| Tenzhi02-16-07, 01:52 AM | Seems even better than a Fireball spell... |
| Demonfey02-16-07, 12:39 PM | Not really. At fifth level, casters with fireball do as much damage as a 500 gp bomb in a radius around that size for the price of bat guano. And it goes to 10d6 for the same price. Meanwhile, every time you use one of these bombs, you have to pay n gp for whatever size boom you want and whatever radius you want. |
| Dyne02-16-07, 02:53 PM | Seems even better than a Fireball spell... Tenzhi, I think that pipe of yours is getting to your brain.... A scroll of fireball is only 350 gp, for 5d6 damage in a 20-ft. blast radius. Not to mention it's exceptionally long range, and that you don't have to make an attack roll to hit the square you're targeting. Fireball is better in every way. And it's cheaper. These are more for non-spellcasters (and crazy alchemists), though. EDIT: Although, the 500 gp bomb gets up to a 25-ft. blast radius. I might shorten that a bit, now that I think of it. |
| Tenzhi02-17-07, 12:12 AM | A scroll of fireball is only 350 gp, for 5d6 damage in a 20-ft. blast radius. To make or buy? I thought they were more expensive than that to buy. Not to mention it's exceptionally long range, and that you don't have to make an attack roll to hit the square you're targeting. The long range is a bonus. But you also have to be able to handle the spell completion, which is a very limiting minus. Hitting a 5' square is pretty easy, though. The radius is what set off the first alarms. The lack of a save for half damage set off the next alarms. Also, I'd be inclined to create a rule on using the explosive to greater effect on structures. |
| Dyne02-17-07, 12:26 AM | To make or buy? I thought they were more expensive than that to buy. To buy. Though I made a slight error, it's actually 375 gp. A 10th-level fireball (10d6 damage) is only 750 gp. Anyone that can use a scroll would probably do better to just get the scroll of fireball. The bombs come into use when in the hands of a non-spellcaster, or when you need to get past defenses against magic. The radius is what set off the first alarms. The lack of a save for half damage set off the next alarms. Also, I'd be inclined to create a rule on using the explosive to greater effect on structures. I forgot to specify, but the save for half damage is a Reflex DC 15. These are basically a modification of the bombs in the DMG, so anything there is supposed to apply if not specified. I don't think it's all that necessary to create rules for affecting structures. Just from it dealing energy damage, it automatically bypasses hardness. |
