| K.O.E.G06-18-04, 03:11 AM | Welcome to the Abused player's foundation. Here we will get player's who have been abused by other players, DMs, or anything in game together. They can share their stories of abuse with each other, explain what everyone could have done better, and that its much better now that they've let it out. Rules: 1. NO RIDICULE - This is the most important rule, you will not ridicule someone if they made a poor decision in their game. These people have been abused, give them enough to not make fun of them for it 2. NO SENSELESS COMPLAINING - This is not a place to come moan about how everyone hates you because you played an overpowered character, demanded X and Y from your party/DM, or didn't get rule bendings. In short, we don't cater to muchkins here All members will be mediators for the foundation, and you don't have to become a member to post your abuse. Go ahead and make a MuP if you want to, if your group posts on these forums. Feel free to do whatever you want to your story if you want to remain anonymous. |
| Tenzhi06-18-04, 03:41 AM | I will use this as a good excuse to rant about my DM (normally I'm the DM, but I was "lucky" enough to get into a game so I could take a break and just be a player). So here's our DM, running a 2nd Ed campaign but using a 3E adventure (Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil). The adventure is meant for characters level 4 through 14. The DM started us out at 3rd level and ran us through an adventure in the Dale lands first. It takes five sessions to get through this adventure - now, I know I'm multi-classed and I was expecting to still be slightly short of gaining a level in either class, but I didn't even get close after five sessions (due in part to the DM cutting our XP award in pretty much every encounter where no one gets knocked unconscious  ). To top it off he just hands three levels to another party member (special training with Elminster  ) who is now multi-classed as well. So we get to the moathouse finally, after five sessions of messing around in the ever-loathesome Dale lands. I figure that after getting through the moathouse I should be able to advance a Cleric level at least. We don't get to delve into the moathouse in our first session dealing with it, however, because an invisible assassin killed me in one hit and the fighter consequently got caught in the dragon's breath weapon (as I was intending to save the fighter who had been paralyzed). So we have to go and deal with the Druid/Changeling situation and get everyone taken care of. The next two sessions are us clearing out the moathouse. After that we rest up and absorb our XP and I'm still 1200 short of even gaining a Cleric level (a situation not helped by the fact the DM keeps cutting our XP award). So now we're dealing with this slaver operation that we should be at least 5th-6th level to take care of, and it won't be too much longer before we're headed towards the Temple of All-Consumption (which we should be at LEAST 9th level for). 9 sessions into the game and still no level gained... I know 2nd Ed is slower, but by the unwinking red eye of Ra I'm stagnating here! And I'm getting really fed up with the DM. I don't want to quit, but at the same time I'm not really looking forward to playing. |
| K.O.E.G06-19-04, 02:41 AM | That, my friend, is exactly what this foundation is for |
| Sssargoth06-19-04, 03:16 AM | Tenzhi the elf bane dose not join foundations, I'm afraid. I am also quite busy with my own foundation, among other things, and will not be joining. Now comes my rant. This DM has a very skewed concept on encounter scaling encounters, which is fine, because we usually have the option of running. This time we did not. Keep in mind that our charicters were 3rd level. There are 4 people in the party, running through a forest of uber-death to attempt to save an important NPC. After a point we start making our endurance checks without any problem. After a point, 1 of the party members collapses from exaustion, and I'm coming up beind him. I should have mentioned this before, but, I was playing a halfling ranger that used a +1 returning skiprock in most situations. When I stop to help him to his feet, we get caught in a web, that has a DC 25 REF save. I got a 23, and he didnt even come close to the DC. We are then attacked by 4 giant spiders. No big deal, right? Wrong. they have a poisonus bite that paralyses its victims. It wouldnt have been so bad if the fort save was a 13 like it was suposed to be for that size critter. The DC was a 19, and these spiders werent suposed to have any type of poison. I crit on the spider with the most HP, droping it down to 1. It critically fumbles, and bites its own head off, I dont know how, it just did. I was paralysed for 5 rounds, then got another attack, not doing enough to the remaning 3 to get us out of this jam, and spent the rest of the combat being bitten to death. I dont think the other chair got even 1 attack in. We dont let him DM any more. |
| Orcy The Green Wonder06-19-04, 09:42 AM | Yes Sssargoth, but this is the same guy that made a cat race that he would only allow for NPCs that had +6-+10 for the majority of their racial adjustments. With no ECL. So there really wasnt much expected from him... we need to stop giving him another chance... he never gets better. At least this time there were no severed male reproductive organs attacking us from a random chest full-o-blood. |

| Galahad the Pure06-21-04, 03:01 PM | I suppose I should join, since it was my story that inspired this thread... Here's the link, be forewarned: it's a reeeally long story. The Nerfiest Campaign Ever (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=259802) So this thread doesn't get off-topic, please post all responses on that thread.:) |
| Callista07-17-04, 01:31 PM | I was the victim of a classic Monty Haul DM... My first DM was WAY too easy on us.... think that's a good thing? Not entirely. He didn't give the monsters critical hits OR attacks of opportunity. When I said I wanted to try Flare on a young blue dragon (I hadn't any other spells left), the dragon simply lost a turn. I was expecting him to roll a saving throw for it, and not to have much chance of doing anything to it, either (this IS a dragon, after all.) He's never made us carry food rations. Poison doesn't seem to do any damage when he's around. I.e., "The viper bites you, but its fangs only sink into your boots." One of our characters got blasted to -30 HP by an adult blue dragon. Mysteriously (all right, this *was* in a special room that made us all near-invincible), the character didn't die. And did I mention the insane amounts of gold he let us find?! I later found out he was multiplying the recommended amounts in the DMG by 10... Not that I complain when he tries to keep us alive; but I'd prefer it to be an effort on our part, not just his! |
