As you walk into the building, a sense of wonder comes across you. A thousand adventurers, all with one purpose, congregate here. The presence is immense, enough that you have to hold your jaw to keep it from dropping open. The murals on the walls depict wizards fighting dragons, dwarfs slaying druegar, elves hunting orcs, and hundreds of similar scenes. A man dressed in white comes up in front of you.
“Welcome stranger,” says the man, “this is the adventure building guild. Using data from thousands of other adventures, we will construct an adventure that will be passed on for ages… this is no easy task. If you decide to join, you must be dedicated. You must truly want to help. But in the end, the result will be great. So, will you join us?”

Welcome to the adventure building guild. This, obviously, is a guild where we will be devoted to making an adventure. This adventure, which will be released in small pieces (e.g. 1st-5th level, then 6th-10th, 11th-15th, ext.), will be made available on the general boards. Then, after we complete it (at level 30), we will submit it to wizards for possible publication. This guild is first come, first serve. I will be accepting: A planner, who sets the responsibilities of the others, sets the date the adventure needs to be finished by, ext. Two story tellers, who set the storyline, two artist, who… well, are artists, an adapter, who, because we will be using non-core material, will make, “adapting,” sections for those who use only core materials, two staters, who make the stats for the characters, monsters, artifacts, ext. that we will need for the adventure, and finally a publicist, who advertises the adventure on the public board. Or, you could be universal, and help with a bit of everything.
If you want to join, put down which position you want to do. After that person posts the position he wants, it is taken. If you don’t want to join, pleases mark, “just visiting,” as a subject, and state your question, concern, ext.
So, join and become part of a project which could have an impact on thousands of D&D players… can you handle the responsibility? If you can, and making adventures interests you, this guild is definitely for you. If not… the door is to your right.

As we have stated through PM's and the such, I am very much in.
dandfan

05-24-06, 11:04 PM
Yes indeed, already we have a member... just so people know, Thasis is now my assistant guild runner. He has just as much power as me, and can resolve disputes, assign positions, ext. So honor him!
Zombomaniac

It would be a honor to aid in this endeavor.
I wish to be one of the grand Storytellers.

It is a honor to have such a creative mind on the works.

Also, I have a tendancy to shamelessly self-promote my own works, meaning I'll probally wish to incorporate my Soul Hunter into the grand adventure during some point.

But to get directly to points, we should get a general idea of where we want this adventure to start (though not necessarily what the whole adventure is about as that will most likely change for the PC's as time goes on).

Welcome, Zombomaniac. Thank you for expressing intrest in the game, you are welcome as are first storyteller. As for where the game takes place, I want it to take place in an, "everyday" D&D world. Not Ebberon or Greyhawk though, because they require sourcebooks that many people may not have. So, we can either make our own world, or use an exsisting online one that is easily accesible, free, non-copyrighted, and dosn't require a sourcebook.

Count me in w/ Thasis
jagggar

05-25-06, 03:46 PM
Technically, the gods in the PHB are the Greyhawk gods, so there could be some arguement that Greyhawk is the 'core setting'.

I'd be willing to help flesh out a cult or something similar. I mean, who doesn't love cults? And they happen to be much more drag&drop than a full pantheon if you're trying to make it adaptable to any setting.

Also, you can't actually restrict membership. There was a fair sized thing about restricting membership about a month or so ago.
thasis

05-25-06, 04:29 PM
Hey Ur_Priest, glad to see you on here.

And yes... I remember all to well about that incident :P

And as for the setting... we could create a custom setting. Hell over 30 levels we could probally traverse across a whole setting. If we want to create our own setting I can create a Pantheon for it.
Kobold_Ur_Priest

05-25-06, 07:20 PM
maybe we could slip the D&R: SF Campaign in somehow....
dandfan

05-25-06, 09:54 PM
Okay then, no restrictin membership. Welcome one and all! And welcome Ur-Preist and Jagggar. I've decided to put the setting in greyhawk, because it is indeed the core setting. So, now that we have that down, I belive we should start on the storyline. Though zombie is the storyteller, all are welcome to join in. Basically, I want three running themes: 1. A cult (your job mister Jagggar), which will be the influence throughout the entire storyline. Possible cults and their motives could be: A gothic cult wanting to resurect the devil, a nature cult wanting to, "cleanse" all unnatural things from the world, or a cult that wants to fufil a prophecy. Number 2. One race that opposes the entire world. THIS CANNOT BE THE DROW!!!!! It should be something unexpected, or entirly new. And, number 3., It should use non-core sourcebooks. We will put adapting sections for those who dont have them, but the completes, the psionics, libris mortis, miniatures handbook, ext. should be used. I am now open to suggestions.
jagggar

05-25-06, 10:53 PM
Actually, it's 'ms. jagggar'

Hmmm. . .

Are the race and the cult the same or related or entirely different?
(Maybe the following is a little clearer:)
(Is it a racial cult of the race against everyone?)
(Do the cult's plans tie in with the race or the reverse?)
(The heros have to do double duty dealing with the cult and the race.)

If we're voting, I'd say the race should be core or something entirely new.

As far as the cult, I'm thinking ninja. Not the oriental flavor, just the class and its ghost-ish flavor.
Zombomaniac

05-25-06, 11:39 PM
Just to let you know I don't know much about Greyhawk.
Is it just like "normal" DnD or what?
jagggar

05-25-06, 11:45 PM
Umm, what I know is it uses the gods in the PHB. And there's a big city called Greyhawk I believe.

I'm not the most experienced of players, so I'm not really suited for an important part in this, but I'd like to help out and submit my ideas if you'll have me?

05-26-06, 03:33 PM
First off, you are very welcome here, mister (or miss, sorry jagggar) hilfenburger. And, as of now, for all intents and purposes, "greyhawk" will simply be a normal D&D world, with no world specifics. As for the cult, Ilike the, "ninja flavor" idea. The ghost faced hunter (see complete warrior) would be perfect for it. And as for the race, I was thinking it could be a multi-racial cult. And, as for the main storyline, I belive that the pc's should meet in a bar (or some other open area), and suddenly be thrust into a battle. It's a good way to start the campain off with a bang. The main storyline though, I will leave to you guys. As the final order of buissness, I'm afraid I will be gone from today to sunday. As of now, and until sunday at noon, Thasis is the official leader of the guild. I hope you guys may have a storyline sketched up by the time I come back. And remember, this campain will be going on until level thirty,so make one that can last awhile.
thasis

05-26-06, 07:20 PM
My idea is that you make a very simple basic storyline that ever advances into something greater and larger.
Kobold_Ur_Priest

05-26-06, 10:03 PM
Mmm maybe possibly tie the ninja cult in with a splinter cell of DDM's Soul Hunters...
thasis

05-26-06, 11:47 PM
How bout we create a Cult of Orcus worshipers.
Zombomaniac

05-27-06, 12:49 AM
Ok so the agenda is:

1) Make a new setting/world for the campaign (am I right about this?). Using DnD gods, but adding in DDR, CDL, Pragas, and mabye Sune I would assume (am I right about this?).
2) Make a Cult (Ghost and Ninja themed)
3) Make a new race or take a Core race and create some reason why a bunch are being Evil-ish (possibly tied in with the Cult).

Also what alignments are we going for with the PCs?
Are they all Good, a mix of G and N, only N, N and E, or only E?

I will need these and mabye a little more done before I could create a viable story line.
thasis

05-27-06, 01:34 AM
I'm thinking along the lines of G and N. That makes for a balanced easy storyline, and a much easier way of motivating them.

As for storyline I have a quick idea. This isn't spellchecked, and this is just a quick idea, but w/e. Here it goes:

It's the year 356 IE (Imperial Era). The lands that the characters are dwelling in are primarily controlled by the Imperial Federation of Peace (I'll have more on this later). Overall they have kept most major threats down with the various heroes who formed the original Imperial Federation. However things aren't going as well. With the heroes of old retiring, and the heroes of new working for the corrupt beurocracy who is seemingly taking over the Imperial Federation, corruption is beggining to become a problem.
A group of people who call them the Silent Blades of Deimos have recently arisen into a sort of power. Many people blame this allowance of their existance on the lack of iniative of the new beurocracy controlled Imperial Federation. Nobody knows the true purpose of the Silent Blades, but everybody knows that they aren't up to any good.
Recently a powerful noble has had his daughter kidnapped by people who are claiming to be members of this Silent Blades of Deimos. According to rumar they want to sacrifice her to offer her soul to the great god Deimos DeMalus.
The noble, saying he is willing to pay whatever fee necessary to get his daughter back hires the players to get his daughter back from this Silent Blades of Deimos.

Ok, so what I'm thinking is, this whole thing starts as a simple kidnapping, but the players then learn a small bit of something from a much larger plot. They then return with this small bit after they retrive the daughter and things become a much larger problem for the surrounding nation, and it expands it sowly expands into a much larger plot.

Now what I'm thinking for the overall 1-30th level plot, that the players don't actualy clue into untill later is something to do with the Silent Blades of Deimos attempting to summon a epic avatar of Deimos, in the process aquiring aid from the Cult of Orcus, to combat his sister Praga.

Just my thoughts...

perfect

and as for Deimos (have him polymorphed or shapechanged into a Quasit which travels with the party, guiding/aiding them and such) but unknown to them of course

can we get some stats for him made? and then get the campaign going?
thasis

05-27-06, 04:36 PM
@Zombo Sorry, I ment his sister. That makes more sense.

@Ur_Priest For this adventure the players are opposing Deimos and his followers. As for our campaign, we don't need the stats for Deimos. Nor do I think it's a good idea for the god to get directly involved with the players. And I dunno if I told you but the website is down. So someone is going to have to create a new message boards to play this all on.

05-27-06, 05:15 PM
Or how about elves as a whole? For millions of years, the dwarves, humans and other races have used up the planets resources without a thought, and now it is dieing. In order to save the planet, elves embark on a cleansing (think holocaust). They aren't even strictly evil, they want to save the planet. The PCs have a chance to find another way to save it.

Same thing coud be done with dwarves, or any other core race, with minor differences.

Edit: I'll take the position of the other storyteller if its not taken.

05-27-06, 08:27 PM
That I can do. Oh, and I've gotten another realy realy realy good new storyline and introduction. Here it goes:

One day as you are sitting in the local tavern, a rather large, and well-armored female half-orc walks into the room. She is wearing sparkling gold chainmail, and has a large steel shield and a greatsword strapped to her back.
To your surprise, she walks up to you and your party. She speaks in a melodic and smooth voice, something you wouldn't expect out of a half-orc (even if it's female), "Hello my champions. I am the one known as Greizana. I am here because you, despite your own knowledge, have a great part to play in the events that are about to unfold. We need your help heroes, and there is money on your part if you choose to help".
If the players choose to show interest in helping she continues, "The Order of the Sparkling Shield and the Order of the Black Hand, though both bitter rivals and on the opposite end of the alignment scale, have decided to make a truce at the current time. This is because we have found something that might change the face of both of our organizations. We have found the location of Lost Temple of the Darkened Ones. Located on one of the many underground levels in this temple, there is a powerful artifact needs to be eliminated. This artifact is called the 'Orb of the Deceiver'. This item was created long ago by a powerful archfiend that had learned the powers to access a special energy that could deceive the gods and steal their very power and energy. If this artifact is found by anyone, it could put the fate of the whole cosmology in risk. It must be found, brought back to us, and destroyed in the fires of the Infernal Forge. What we have decided is that we are willing to pay you in gold bars that is equal to one million worth of gold pieces, upon the retrieval of this artifact. What do you say?" If the players agree to the terms she goes over some known preclusions, "It is known that a powerful archfiend, a descendant of the original archfiend that created this dreaded artifact, has recently gotten word of the discovery of this temple. He will most likely be sending minions and the such to attempt to retrieve this artifact. There also is the possibility of other forces being aware of the knowledge that this temple has resurfaced. Be wary of others who might be looking for the artifact to use for their own power or to sell for immense riches. In addition, monsters of all forms lurk in the Temple. They either have dwelt in the temple for a long time, unaware of the true purpose of the temple, or were created to protect the temple. It all depends on the room. Also check for secret rooms, as there are many. Some easy to spot, others not so easy to spot".
If the players still accept the mission then she gives the players a map through the forest of Deathwood (or an applicable foresting area).

some things, like DC's and a few things may need to be reworked

the Glaive & Sickles replace the normal Soulknife armory of Shortswords & a bastard sword

the Psychokinetic Storm enhancement is homebrewed (2d10 psychic damage)
their are 2 sickles (1 Unholy Power/Energy Burst & 1 Chaotic Power/Energy Burst)

make sure all of the calculations are ok

also: GS = Greater Shadows (on armor)
and GSM = Greater Silent Moves

In that case...

It awakens. Deep beneath the earth, something calls to it. It's power... but no, it must not dwell on it's weakened state... it's powers would return... all in due time. Deimos De Malus will return.

The records of time were forgotten long ago. The last recorded time was a book from thousands of years ago, and the text was not open to the general public. For many years, the growing were-bear army had been fighting the guerrilla warfare tactics of the were-wolves.

But that's a side note, for now.

As for humans and the other pure races, they had not been idle. Humans and Dwarves had been mining deeper and deeper into the earth, looking for precious metals and gems. Then, one day, something happened. A wave of negative energy was released, turning all of the miners to zombies in seconds. This wave extended to outlying farms, nearby families dying and being reborn before they realised what was happening. One cleric and his family survived, a cleric of Pelor who had cast consecrate on his house, as he did every day. The stories he told spread quickly. And suddenly, elves everywhere began killing everything but pureblooded elves on sight, including the cleric and his family.

Rumors of an ancient anti-diety soon spread. Among these rumors, is that the most powerful elven wizards had helped defeat and imprison this being. After all, how could a diety destroy an anti-deity? Perhaps mortal help is this anti-deities only weakness, some whispered. Soon adventurers were going into the mine. Some returned, although most were lost to the mines. No one (or at least, no one living) had seen anything suspicious, besides an increase in undead around the area. Soon the mine incident was forgotten by everyone, everyone but the elves.

The elves had taken it upon themselves to cleanse the earth. One of the half-elves who had learned from the elves spoke of a terrible being known as Deimos De Malus, though he knew little of it.

The lycanthropes, who had a deeper connection to the earth than most, know instantly that something was up. Both the were-bears and the were-wolves sought the council of wisemen and wisewomen. Many seers attempted to see into the mine through magical means, but these seers died before they could state what they saw.

The most powerful were-bear knights, under the orders of the were-bear king Arthur, began searching for the most powerful creatures and enchantments, preparing for an even more terrible war to come.

Similarly, the most powerful were-wolf rangers began searching for a power to fight this anti-deity, but they would fight to gain control of it, to use it to wipe out the accursed were-bears once and for all, and possibly take over the world. One such Ranger rose above all others, one named Fenrir.

Soon, the fate of the world will be decided. But it will be decided not by these powerful forces, but by four adventurers who just happened to meet in a little bar, where the ale is fine and the rooms are bugless.

Our adventure begins in an unobtrusive tavern by the name of The Stubborn Monkey.

I borrow a bit from various mythologys.

as a side note, I don't agree with the alignments of were-bears and were-wolves. But whatever.

The campaign is centered on DDM's original victims ( The original Soul Hunters, created by Deimos himself) they are all Soul Formed Balors (20th Level Soul Hunters) and there are 13 of them.

it also deals with his cult, and all the splinter groups of Soul Hunters and related characters and stuff

Armor Class: 51 = 10 +3 [studded] +5 [dexterity in armor] +1 [half-fiend] +4 [satyr] +10 Amulet +15 Bracers +3 Natural

bracers of armor don't stack with actual armor.

From the SRD:
Armor Bonus
An armor bonus applies to Armor Class and is granted by armor or by a spell or magical effect that mimics armor. Armor bonuses stack with all other bonuses to Armor Class (even with natural armor bonuses) except other armor bonuses. An armor bonus doesn't apply against touch attacks, except for armor bonuses granted by force effects (such as the mage armor spell) which apply against incorporeal touch attacks, such as that of a shadow.

Oh, and anything to do with Deimos (that isn't directly related to the adventure being designed by this guild) should be taken to the other guilds (especialy yours Ur_Priest) as we don't want to get this thread clogged with excess information that will confuse readers.
