| Elrana05-03-04, 06:46 PM | Hi people, this is a foundation built upon the ethics and founding principles of the Arcane Order. I quote: The Arcane Order's charter is twofold. Its first tenet is advancing magical knowledge through both ongoing research and archaeological investigation of lost arcane disciplines. A good portion of research is centred around eluciadating a "magical grammar" of the great power wielded in ages past, and this research has borne wondrous fruit: metamagic feats. The second tenet is the support and welfare of the Order's membership, initially through arcane schooling and later through companionship, resources, boarding and access to the spellpool. Although non-wizards can benefit somewhat from what the order has to offer, its emphasis on wizardry deters most applicants." So what do I expect? Well, to follow the tenets! To discuss new spells and metamagic feats, as the Order has done for generations uncountable, and also to discuss current spells and also old spells, spells from 1ed., 2ed. and 3ed. that have disappeared or been nerfed beyond recognition and to see what we can do about returning them to regular everyday use(fulness!). I would also like to see people post how they have found membership of the Order in game, experiences they have had while playing a member both good and bad, what issues they have with the Prestige Class, how they have fixed it and so on. Particularly from anyone who has found it beneficial as a Prestige Class to enter as a sorcerer. I shall open the information swap by allowing all and sundry to have access (by E-Mail) to the aspects that I have developed (including a symbol, progression chart including titles and robe designs and so on) and hopefully people will have contributions to make for me and everyone else. I am more than happy to see in character as well as out of charceterposts but recommend showing IC or OOC in the subject in case anyone gets confused! So basically get stuck in, have fun and hopefully we'll expand each other's games and imaginations! Elrana Evenstar, Chancellor of the Arcane Order |

The major problem is that people find us no more than artillery platforms and when talking about it the only spells they have in mind is magic missle or fireball....why do you think this happens? Another major problem is the continuous demonstration of our counterparts...the divine casters...from what I saw there were crap like divine spell lists are equal to ours or clerics can offer just as much firepower utility as we do.Another terrible point was the constant declamation of healing being the one and foremost thing a party should take care of and this combined with buffs sets it invincible... opinions? |
| Elrana05-16-04, 07:09 AM | <Fingers tap irritatedly on the arm of the platinum throne studded with black sapphires that stands alone in the centre of a raised dais at the end of the audience chamber> These jealous minds and foolish hearts do not truly understand the power of the arcane. As more flock to the fold to research new spells and increase our spellpool we become ever more powerful. They are but as the flea that lives upon the lion. They may irritate, but they are powerless to influence. While they stagnate, dependant upon their gods to imbue them with the paltry powers they cherish so highly we make our own magic, masters of our own minds and destinies. Reliant on no one for our might, ours is a skill that can not be equalled; no god can deny it to us, no being demands our genuflection or adherence to an out-dated and restrictive code as payment for the powers that we wield. When you are confronted once more by these petty arguments ask only that your divine aggressor remember one thing: He may have the power to heal, but we wield the ultimate power to inflict! Then, if he continues to offend you, destroy him and bind his soul within this gem. <A black gem floats across the space between you and comes to rest in your hand> Bring me another pitiful cleric, denied the glories of his god's promised afterlife, and he shall join his brothers, destined to spend the rest of time as a mere decoration upon this arcane throne. |
| Silmarien Aldalome05-16-04, 08:06 PM | [GM-Voice]OK - this thread is distinctive enough from its cousins. The archaeological aspects, its IC-aspects and its possible "trajectories" are quite clearly different to The Council of Archmages. See Pit of Nine Hells thread for clarification, or if you would like to contribute to the discussion there. best regards stav[/GM-Voice] A black-robed male Arcane-Caster bows at the seat of the throne. His robes are warded with ugly symbols of the black arts - a ghostly silver which, when studied, gives one a dizzy sensation. He carries a staff that is so black, that it looks more like a "cut" in space than a staff. It is only the metal-shod ends that tell you it is in the prime material plane. You can't see his eyes, but you do catch flashes of red and can hear a slow breathing. About him, there is a subtle stench - like that of some kind of rot. He takes the dark gem - he grins and says "My Liege - your orders are too....." he struggles for words .... "...diffuse. There are five orders of clerics in our world, and several are our allies. Which house do you mean, my lady." he hisses the last word... |
