| Drake Dragonslayer04-19-04, 02:36 PM | I first created this a while ago under an old account, and it has since disappeared into the depths of the boards. Anyone feel free to join and we will discuss assasins, potential changes and good assasination tactics. One rule. Discussion in Black. RP in Red I am the guildmaster, If this gets too big I may require a co-guildmaster but we shall see. That is all. Guildmaster Drake unlocks the hidden door to his complex on a dark thundery morning. He brushes his long hair out of his eyes and scratches the scar leading from his left eye down for about 2 inches. His black rapiar hangs at his belt as he awaits applicants to his guild. "Tis a fine day to begin aiding those of my glorious profession. First Discussion Topic: Best Assasin Race. |
| Drake Dragonslayer04-28-04, 08:38 AM | Because of the Undesiarbly low amount of Members applying. I have to Post again. |
| anglar04-28-04, 09:51 PM | Humans, IMO, are the best for any class. Or at least they're top three. The extra feat is nice, but it's the extra skill point per level that helps the most. If you're using point buy, you can spend to extra points in another stat rather than on you INT. Humans are plantiful in almost any setting. They have no ECL so they are as effective as possible from the start. If you want to dip into another class for a level or two, like fighter or sorcerer, you suffer no XP penalty. Question for you: Would you think it's better if the assassin PrC was split into two, where a guild assassin had alignment restrictions but not necessarily every assassin? |
| Drake Dragonslayer04-29-04, 06:52 AM | Do you mean two seperate PrC's? One "Guild Assasin" Which is as the current one and one "Freelance Assasin" Who could be any alignment. I think this would work because not all assasins are evil, they're just doing their job. I don't think an assasin could ever be Lawful-Good though. |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow04-29-04, 11:38 AM | I'd have a problem with a Neutral Good assassin as well, and a Chaotic Good assassin would have to be veeeery careful with who he kills. I use the PrC Assassin as a guild assassin - IMO PrC should be attached to an organization, a set of beliefs, etc., so no general assassin PrC IMC. Elves/drow are good assassins as well. In the shadows of the guild house, something listens. Something ancient, something cunning, something evil. |
| Nomikos04-30-04, 12:29 AM | When it comes to Assassin races what about a Yaunti Pureblood? I always thought they would make excellent assassins. A young man walks into the Guild House. His hair is dark brown and his eyes a dark shade of green. As for clothes he wears a simple long sleeved, dark grey tunic. The sleeves of the tunic are olive green. His skin is pale, like one who spends too much time in the dark. Dark rings of fatigue show around his eyes. No visible weapons can be seen on the man. The young man says " Hello, may I speak with the local guild master?" |

I don't think an assasin could ever be Lawful-Good though. Well, that's part of the dilemma. Semantics go a long way in determining what a character of a particular alignment can do. I would see assassins who have a G in their alignments as not simply being "killers for hire" but perhaps as "killers for a higher purpose." Maybe they wouldn't use poisons but I certainly think the Death Attack is a viable option even for Good aligned characters. If anything, you could simply lessen the abilities granted by the PrC as it stands. |
| Nomikos04-30-04, 01:27 AM | hmmm...god aligned assassins. I could actaully see a lawfully aligned Assassin. They wouldn't kill for money but rather a higher cause, they'd take down criminals, evil cultists, that kind of thing. they could even belong to the church of some good aligned diety. I can just imagine it now " Eat cleansing might infidel!" |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow04-30-04, 04:32 AM | Actually, I think a good character would be *more* likely to use poison, especially if that poison ensures a swift, painless death. And unlike thievery, where the results can be used to help others, a la Robin Hood, you can't guarantee the results of murder. Maybe the tyrant you off today will be replaced by an even worse one tomorrow. In a world where alignments are absolutes, like in DnD, you can't rationalize away evil acts, like murder. If there are no absolutes, if you can excuse things away on the basis of culture or religion, then alignments don't really matter and you shouldn't bother with them (see Monte Cook's Arcana Unearthed) |
| ShadeShinobi04-30-04, 05:34 PM | A young human walks into the guildhouse. He has shoulder-length raven hair and eyes that are completely black. He is wrapped in a cloak blacker than night. Anyone with True Seeing can see that he is really a Slaad with with black-violet scales Human or Hengeyokai. The former because of their versitality, and Hengeyokai because of their natural shapeshifting. |
| Drake Dragonslayer04-30-04, 05:47 PM | Greetings to all the new applicants. I am Guildmaster Drake. And you, the Slaad. Do ot try to hide anything from me. You have a point. You can return something you've stolen. You can never return a life. Oh wait. True Ressurection. Heh. You can. I'm curious. Has anyone used the Guild from the ELH in their games? |
| Nomikos05-02-04, 01:46 AM | Nomikos turns his head towards the Sladd and raises an eyebrow, chocking down his nervousness Nomikos looks back to the Guild master and says " um Yes i would like to apply for a job, I have some experience in my chosen field. what about a doppleganger, they would make excellent Replacement Killers as seen in Dragon magazine issue 312 |
| Drake Dragonslayer05-02-04, 07:31 AM | I wouldn't know. I don't get Dragon. But I see how a shapechanger could work. Or even just someone with polymorph. |
| Black Kitten05-03-04, 10:57 AM | A man, 5'4" tall, enters. His eyes are fiery red and if you look closer, a long which braid can be seen running behind his neck. A little spider is crafted onto the inner side of his hood Drow signs can be read all over his long robes. A long rapier hangs from his hip and he carries a little crossbow on his back. He carries a large backpack with the shape of a book in it and black gems adorn his body. "Be greeted, guildmaster," he says with a deep, slightly rasping voice. "I am looking for... _employment_...," he continues, stopping to make a slight bow in front of the infamous man. What 'bout a Pixie. Unless you're very high level, most people won't watch out for something that's naturally not visible. |
| DMsDelight05-03-04, 03:34 PM | A creature in azure robes enter the room. You can tell almost immediately that he is a half blue dragon/half human. And he doesn't seem to want to hide that fact. He greets all in the room with a gruff hello, introduces himself as Verakhan, and takes a seat in the corner of the room, and listens for his first set of instructions. |
| anglar05-04-04, 12:42 PM | Originally posted by Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow In a world where alignments are absolutes, like in DnD, you can't rationalize away evil acts, like murder. If there are no absolutes, if you can excuse things away on the basis of culture or religion, then alignments don't really matter and you shouldn't bother with them (see Monte Cook's Arcana Unearthed) Because, IMO, D&D should not make alignments absolutes. IMC, alignments are guidelines, not unbreakable borders. Of course CN is the prevailing alignment run by most of my group's PCs. I guess what I'm getting at is "what's the real difference between a paladin who goes into a Vampire's lair with a party to rid the area of the evil bane" versus say a lone person sneeking in to take care of the Vampire on his own? |
| DMsDelight05-05-04, 10:11 AM | Verakhan greets Nomikos and the Slaad, deciding to join the group in it's endeavors to be the best assassins they can be. You think it quite generous, but you wonder as to what his true intentions are... |
| Tarlione05-10-04, 08:17 PM | You never heard the door open as he entered the room. He Simply stood behind the crowd as he listened to the head guildmaster. IT is only when the master stops speaking does the newcomer say anything. "Have you any need of another? Or should i leave now?" Thorn is a half drow/ half (something quite different) He carries himself with dignity and purpose. The only weapon you see is a short sword worn and his right side. I have never saw why an assasin needs be evil. A Chaotic good fighter does not stray very far from a lawful evil fighter. An assasin can kill for any reason as long as it can be justified within the alignment. For example : Palicar a lawful good monk is tasked with assasinating a politician. While it would normally not be in his personality to do so he sets out to do the job. He watches his mark for a full week to find some reason why he shouldn't live. In the process he sees his mark cheat on his wife fifteen times, beat a servant half to death and evict a already starving family out of their home...... Palicar now feels it is okay to kill this man, and sets his wrongs right again. |
| Sssargoth05-11-04, 04:19 AM | A large draconic-looking man squeezes through the door, trying not to damage it or his wings, swearing in draconic as he dose so. When he's finally in, you notice that he looks like a bipedal red dragon, aside from the fact that he has brownish scales and green hair. He stands at approximately 9' 6" in height, with no less than seventy gold rings in his ears. The Dragonkin introduces himself as Mel'tr, then moves to an un occupied corner, crossing his arms across his chest, observing the orher members. |
| DMsDelight05-11-04, 11:07 AM | Verakhan greets Melt'r warmheartedly, implying, perhaps, a joint partnership between the two... |
| Sssargoth05-13-04, 01:13 AM | Mel'tr greets Verakhan with a curt "ulhar rauhiss maurg" <Translation: "Blue half-breed"> "I hope this isn't the discount assassins guild I've herd so much about, and if you'r implying that I need help, you are sorely mistaken. Altho, a partnership would do me some good about now." and chuckles softly. Everybody looking in his direction notices that his eyes are now glowing. I was laways annoyed that Assassins had to be evil as well. *shrugs* change is inevitable, and this is no diferent. I think that somebody should make a variant PrC for the good guys. I'm not volinteering tho, because I have a tendancy of making things massively overpowered, but I'm good at giving advice for making things balanced oddly enough. |
| DMsDelight05-13-04, 11:07 AM | Verakhan bristles at Melt'r's comment about his heritage, but otherwise shrugs it off. He tells Melt'r that he implies nothing, except for partnership. And for the chance to practice his skills on the job. |
| Dr. Grim06-04-04, 05:03 PM | You notice a drow appear suddenly from the shadows (via shadow walk). He takes a look around. He turns to the guildmaster and states "I'm not really looking for any employment at the present moment, as my time is already filled performing my ... experiments. If you don't mind, I have an insatiable curiosity, and would like to see how the art of death is advanced first-hand." With that, the drow gives a sinister chuckle. I don't think that an assassin necessarily has to be evil, per se. I would agree with making the alignment restriction be non-good, though. Oh, and by the by, has anyone ever picked up City Works, by FFG? They have a 20 level assassin core class in it that looks fairly good, and I wanted to see what other people think about it. Dr. Grim :smirk: |
| Xen15511-21-04, 03:42 PM | This place has been dead for along time. I would like to bring it back to the attention of everybody as it would be an intresting foundation to have in the Foundation Wars. Please post your opinions! |
| Droga11-21-04, 03:47 PM | Ah, assasins. Skygge make wonderful assasins. They have that whole... I'm in your house but you have no idea where feeling. The could be anywhere, at any time. There may be one behind you right now. Maybe under your bed. Perhaps in your closet. Just waiting for you to look away for a second. Skygge really are wonderful assasins. |
| thasis11-21-04, 10:20 PM | I once played an assassin. I'm not seaching for membership though. Are you paricipating in the IFGW. If so people could get your people to do assassination jobs. You would be like a neutrul guild working for the highest bidder. If your in the IFGW then I think you might be usefull to the Guild of Ultimate Evil. :D |
| Dyne11-21-04, 10:46 PM | I once played an assassin. I'm not seaching for membership though. Are you paricipating in the IFGW. If so people could get your people to do assassination jobs. You would be like a neutrul guild working for the highest bidder. If your in the IFGW then I think you might be usefull to the Guild of Ultimate Evil. :D Know this, however. If this guild participates in the IFWG as killers for hire, they will have to face the Purple Dragons of Cormyr, which currently have more than 75 men. ;) "Assassins are the bane of justice, the tools of darkness. They cannot, and WILL NOT, be tolerated in Cormyr, for they threaten justice and peace." |
| thasis11-22-04, 09:28 AM | Ah, but who says that the Assassins will make there headquarters location known to the purple knights. Asssassins are secritive and hard to catch. :D |
| Xen15511-22-04, 12:50 PM | If this place does get up and going again, it will have to find a leader because I certinaly can't rule a Guild of Assasins and be a member of the Half-Elf Foundation. Droga, this place could be usefull to you and the Guild of Pure Evil, perhaps it could be a wing of the guild. I just offer ideas because every war needs a guild of assasins or spies. But if no one else wants to join, perhaps (speaking to the GMs humbly) this place could be made into a NPC guild? |
| Gurney Halleck11-22-04, 01:11 PM | Hmmm... This guild has, needless to say, piqued my interest, and I would very much like to join. As for the IFGW, I believe this guild would be a great Mercenary guild. |
| Xen15511-22-04, 01:15 PM | Hmmm... This guild has, needless to say, piqued my interest, and I would very much like to join. As for the IFGW, I believe this guild would be a great Mercenary guild. I agree Gurney, and as per your membership, well, as I appear to be the Leader, i guess your in, I would invite you to be the leader but im hesitant because of you relitive newness to the Boards. So any body (Im looking at you Droga) wants to become the leader, just post your intention to do so. |
| Gurney Halleck11-22-04, 01:19 PM | I agree Gurney, and as per your membership, well, as I appear to be the Leader, i guess your in, I would invite you to be the leader but im hesitant because of you relitive newness to the Boards. So any body (Im looking at you Droga) wants to become the leader, just post your intention to do so. Perfectly understandable, and am glad to be accepted into such a... ah... Oppurtunistic organization. |
| Droga11-22-04, 03:01 PM | "Yes... I will lead you small creatures, teach you a life in the shadows. To be hidden away from the world as a whole. Those who we are meant to strike shall fall in no time. For we are the shadows that stalk you and the darkness that comes to send you home." Droga's red eyes narrow and he laughs a deep, dark laugh. |
| DngnMstrBailey11-22-04, 11:58 PM | An Assassins Guild. I like it. I'd like to join, please. Assassins have always been my fav class. Since back when 1st ed AD&D was new. And almost always, when I played an assassin, it was a 1/2 orc. That's probably one of the things I didn't like the most between 1st and 2nd Ed. was the fact that 2nd ed made it a kit, not a seperate class, and they did away with the assassins special attack table. |
| Droga11-23-04, 12:09 AM | Well, then you are in my brother of shadows. Come forth from the night and sing your deadly song. |
| Xen15511-23-04, 12:18 AM | Excellent. Ok. I herby grant all power to Droga over the Assasins guild to do as he sees fit. |
| Drake Dragonslayer11-23-04, 11:43 AM | A Dark fire rises from the centre of the room, a tall man wreathed in flames steps forwards as he grips a pair of matched black shortswords. He views the small gathering of assasins and speaks "Know your place Scum." "I am the head of this guild, as ever I have been. Anyone who wishes to chellenge me can say so, I feel rather hungry at the moment" "Now, I have returned from business, I have much to catch up on. I see we have some new members." Yeesh, I've been out of the WoTC boards loop for a while. Whats this IFGW? And, noone is taking over this guild, I'm back whether you like it or not.:) Drake is back :D |
| Droga11-23-04, 12:56 PM | IFGW is a D&D based game going on amoung foundations. Theres more info at the metathread thing. But basics for characters is level 15, 200,000gp worth of items. "You abandon your guild, then come back claiming power do you little swine? Take yous guild, but you will not insult me, lest you wish to be torn to shreds. I have no problems with killing you little swine, as I have all others who have opposed me. Know that you are but lowly scum to me, or I shall teach you." Droga rose to his full 16ft. Roaring with his arms back and his claws shining in the moonlight. His glowing red eyes narrowed as he looked down upon the "leader" of the guild. Welcome back, this was purely for the game of course. My takeover that is. Since we could use an assasin's guild to sick on people that we were... less than happy with. |
| Drake Dragonslayer11-23-04, 05:31 PM | "Believe me little one, I could kill you 1000 times in a second without even breaking a sweat. Do not forget your place, the guild would not exist if not for me." He sits calmly down in a black chair leaveing Droga standing. "Pathetic" Cool, I'll check it out :) |
| Gurney Halleck11-25-04, 09:38 PM | Gurney Halleck smirks at the display between the two leaders, not caring if one killed the other or not. He simply explored the possibilities of which one would be more fun to mess with. He simply smiled at the thought, then waved it away for later. He looked to the newly restored leader and bowed. "Hello, my most honored Guild Master. I hereby pledge... some, allegiance to the Assassins Guild." Ah, good, thats all cleared up. |
| thasis11-25-04, 11:13 PM | "I will support you Droga in any battle you wish to have against this mortal skum. On the other hand seeing you to deck it out might be entertaining" Thasis smirks. "I could kill both of you with a snap of the finger but that wouldn't be any fun would it". With that he walks over to a chair and sits down. "You mortals" looks at Drake "Are so pathetic" he then looks a Droga "Don't you agree". @Drake Nice guild you have here Drake. Got some rivelries within the guild allready though. What do you expect from an assassins guild though. @Droga You know, we could probally take over this guild. It wouldn't be to hard if you realy think about it. |
| Drake Dragonslayer11-26-04, 10:42 AM | I do not expect any allegience, it is in the nature of what we do. This guild does not stand for trust or loyalty, it stands for mutual profit. @thasis, yeah it is a nice guild, noone will take it from me (no that is NOT a challenge) |
| Gurney Halleck11-26-04, 07:41 PM | Gurney smirks roguishly. "Of course, thats why I joined. As they say, 'No honor amongst thieves,' Gurney laughed, "Then again, the fine art of assassination-and several, several other traits- is what sets us apart from a common peasent thief" Gurney took a quick bow, then made his way to a dark shadowy corner of the room, then leaned against the cold stone. He found it to be a very good vantage point of the main guild room. I am lovin this guild! |
| Drake Dragonslayer11-28-04, 08:11 AM | But of course. Why do you think we are such a small and select group. No common thieves here, only the best of the best are permitted membership. Assasins plan for success 1. Set self up with access to all major government figures. 2. >Blank< 3. Profit. |
| thasis11-28-04, 12:43 PM | I have a idea. I think that I am going to try to kill the king, ok. And if my plan succedes I will have large amounts of funding right. So with that money I could fuel money to all the Guild of Evil and I would be undefeatable with my gaurds unless I end up accepting a fight against someone in the arena. Your probally wondering how I plan to kill the king. Well, you'll just have to find out. I'll give a hint. It's a realy evil act that involves children. |
| Tb1109011-29-04, 09:11 PM | hello |
| Tb1109011-29-04, 09:12 PM | A stranger in a black robe appears at the door he says not a word as he silently slides in to the nearest corner as a dark figure follows closely behind him and they listen intently as the guildmaster argues with some incompatant if you look closely enough you can see that the stranger had fireay red hair and blue eyes and what appears to be a small set of horns if you were watching them as they entered you would have noticed that the one with red hair flinched just a bit at the sight of a silver dagger one of the assasins where caring i am new to dnd in general but took an immediate attraction to the assasin and i hope no one minds my post |
| DngnMstrBailey12-01-04, 09:35 PM | From a table in a dark corner toward the back of the room, a figure arising. He wears a black leather claok and a wide brimmed hat. "I am Snark Wyrmslayer, I stand where there is profit. Who do you want dead and how much are you paying me?' As he speaks, Snark looks up so that all can see his face beneath the rim of his hat. His skin is dusky, his hair long and black, tight behind him with a piece of thong. His ears have slight points and his lower jaw, protrudes slightly, has prominant canines. At his side is a well worn scimitar. Laying atop the pack at his feet is a very well made crossbow. |
| Gurney Halleck12-02-04, 01:40 PM | Gurney gives Snark and the new arrival a brief look from the shadows, and returns his gaze to the door. |
| Drake Dragonslayer12-02-04, 03:05 PM | *Nods at the new arrivals* Greetings new applicants. May your days here be profitable. |
| Gurney Halleck12-02-04, 08:55 PM | Gurney nods and peeks his head out of the shadows. "And only profit brings happiness" He said with a chuckle. |
| Tb1109012-03-04, 11:07 PM | Bump |
| Kingside_Bishop01-14-05, 09:40 PM | A short, taught man enters the room, silhouetted against the light shining from the doors he has boldly thrown open. "Anyone home? Name's Ryn Tyrindell, just a simple... jester, looking for some unique employment opportunities!" he says in a sarcastic, yet cheery, voice. He is indeed dressed in the garb of a court jester -- he has the cap, the stalkings, the shoes, and the coat -- all checkered black and purple. In his hand twirls a jester's rod. A wicked smile spreads across his face, and you get the impression that this is no ordinary jester... I'm curious if this guild's members are still active, and if the guild's going to participate in the next round of the guild wars. If so, I'd be interested in joining. |
| redhase01-14-05, 09:54 PM | "I have things needed fixing" say a dark knight in dark blood red translutant armor with glowing red eyes showing through her helmet, coming through the portal and stoping. "I am Redhase and would seek some of your talents, but in private and all with many skills." |
| Kingside_Bishop01-14-05, 10:16 PM | "I have some things I'm interested in doing" say a dark knight in dark blood red translutant armor with glowing red eyes showing throw her helmet. "I am Redhase and would seek some of your talents.""Well, indeed, I should think you're not the only one my scarlet friend. You've no idea how high the demand for a good jester is... it's quite a profitable profession, you know. But alas, I'm here for a reason... to meet with the fine members of this establishment. I would be remiss in my duties if I were to strike a deal with you, before considering the profits of others of my profession. Besides, it's never a good idea to go against the local guild... they may black list you, as it were... Of course, then there's the law of "first come, first serve" to consider. You see, I'm a man of the law, m'am. I can't go around just breaking laws willy nilly, now can I? No, certainly not. So then, we have a problem -- should I break the law, or be inconsiderate towards my fellow practitioners of the fine arts? Ahhh... such is the dilemna for a good creature such as myself. Well, in a situation like this, I've found that following my intuition is best... and to be perfectly honest, m'am, I think you've something in mind that could only get me into a lot of trouble. So... let's go someplace more comfortable to discuss this." |
| redhase01-14-05, 10:23 PM | yes we should talk. |
| Kingside_Bishop01-16-05, 12:20 AM | His footsteps echo throughout the empty guildhouse, as he contemplates the prospects that the dust on the shelves bring to mind. Suddenly, a grin splits his painted face. "Let's get this place going again..." Following are my attempts to get the Assassin's Guild started again, hopefully to be a part of the next round in the Guild Wars... |
| Kingside_Bishop01-16-05, 12:21 AM | I'm taking up space so that we can start fresh on the third page. |
| Kingside_Bishop01-16-05, 12:51 AM | Still taking up space. |
| Kingside_Bishop01-16-05, 12:53 AM | Ready? |
| Kingside_Bishop01-16-05, 12:55 AM | The Assassin's Guild All who become a member of this guild profess their dedication to the principles of victory through stealth, subterfuge, and cunning ~ all recognize that the most powerful motivation is that of greed. Before everything, Desire; to meet this need, Secrecy. For this, we are Gathered. ───══════─── ───═══════─── ───═══════─── ───═══════─── ───═══════─── ───═══════─── Guildmaster Name: Ryn Tyrindell, Dark Jester (Kingside_Bishop) Member List:Sigurd (Zagan) Second Prime of Salazar -- A.K.A. All contracts are verbal agreements only, but are considered binding by the Assassin's Guild. The contracting guild agrees to pay the Assassin’s Guild an amount determined by the Assassin’s Guild, which will be disclosed before the pact is made, and which will be paid upon completion of the contract. Half of this amount is kept by the Assassin’s Guild, while the other half is paid directly to the assassin performing the task. The Assassin’s Guild agrees to perform the agreed upon task during the month specified by the contracting guild. If a month is not specified, the Assassin’s Guild will perform the task within three months. The contracting guild may request a specific assassin to perform the task, but this increases the cost of the job, administered by increasing the cost Multiplier of the contract by one. In the event that the Assassin’s Guild does not complete the task, the contracting guild receives a single reduction in the cost of one future contract, administered by reducing the cost Multiplier of said contract by one. If a party does not fulfill its contract obligations (by not paying the Assassin's Guild the agreed upon amount), they are subject to full persecution by the Assassin's Guild. The Price GuideThe Assassin’s Guild requires payment for its services. The cost of this payment will vary depending on the difficulty of the agreed upon task. Following is a guide for the pricing of assignments. Assignments are classified into three distinct groups. | Kingside_Bishop01-16-05, 04:37 AM | You see a short, human man dressed in a Jester's Outfit checkered black and purple. He's taut, wiry, but not of an impressive physical build. He grins when he sees you (and he does see you), and bats one of the bells from his cap out of his face as he jumps up from his lazy position on the throne. His grin splits his black and purple painted face, as he speaks: "Welcome, one and all, to this marvelous guild for... Jesters! Although this is a Jester's Guild, we've room for all kinds of people! Except those of the dark arts... no room for them!" His voice is cheery, friendly, yet it has a decided edge of sarcasm to it. "Of course I'm joking! We welcome their kind, too! A Jester's Guild has a use for everyone! But on to business... "This city is rife with political intrigue, just the sort of business we jesters are into. Someone with certain skills, like myself, could really make a fortune. Is anyone else interested in making a fortune with me? If so, step forth, speak your name, and your profession -- and we'll get started!" Welcome, all! This guild is hopefully going to geared especially to the Guild Wars, because I think it would be fun to have a mercenary guild that is very capable at infiltration, assassination, and other generally assassinish things. We'll take contracts from the highest bidders, and try not to catch the wrong end of the political stick! So, to start off, if anyone's interested in helping with this -- let's hear from you! All kinds of stealthy characters are welcome, as long as you've got no scruples about who you kill (beside monetary compensation), you're welcome here! First order of business -- when we're running this guild, how much information should be kept on the guild thread, here, and how much should be kept by the guild members in their PM boxes. Here's something I thought of, although it might be a little extreme: Only the Guild Master knows the names of all Guild Members. If someone wants to be a member in the guild, they apply to the Guild Master in a PM. Each Guild Member knows the identity of two other Guild Members. Guild Members are not to tell anyone the names of the Guild Members that they know. Posting to the general thread is only for general discussion of Assassin issues, while discussion of procedures in the Guild Wars goes on in PMs between Members and the Guild Master (who acts as intermediary between "cells").Yeah, that's pretty extreme, but it would seriously detriment the effectiveness of spies (a single spy would only know the identity of two members), and it does add to the flavor of the guild! Nice font in the charter signature there - what is itThanks! It's actually not a font -- they're symbols from Microsoft Word. The font I used in the body was "Papyrus," which is one of my favorites that the boards use. O ye who hath posted partway down the 2nd page whilst claiming it to be the 3rd?Strange. On my screen, I'm right at the top of the third page. We must have different settings. At any rate, I look forward to hearing from a great many Assassins out there, that have no place to go! ...and check out my sig, can anyone find the invitation? It's not that well hidden...ךּבֿסּ Desire, Secrecy, Community |

All members that wish to join a guild in the guild house must be allowed entry. Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean for in game things, but anybody that wants to join must be allowed. The rules on that are clearly set. Orcy would suggest that you change it a bit. Perhaps requiring members of the guild to apply to the guild master (who you should name, some people may think you mean Orcy and sil, some may think differently) to be given missions. Say... people that want your services come to the guild and ask for something to be done in a PM (by perhaps handing a letter to the guild master). The guild master then decides who to give the mission to, based on who has applied to take missions. Orcy just doesn't like having to apply to join a guild... because you can't make people do that. Besides, your going to have some competition. Orcy himself is playing a character for hire... though he would never associate with assassins. |

You see, the mere mention of political intrigue and spoils is enough to draw players from across the land, to this city where profit and infamy abound! Welcome, Sigurd... I'd be interested in hearing what your... unique, talents are! Drake's up and left, like dust in the wind -- vanished! He's left me in charge here... perhaps the coming intrigue was too much for him! In the meantime, we're left to our own devices. Of course, that's how we prefer it, isn't it? All members that wish to join a guild in the guild house must be allowed entry. 'Course, the tactic I mentioned above is pretty extreme, but I think it would add to the flavor and practicality of the guild. As to the competition from free-lancers -- make sure our markets don't cross, because assassins don't take well to competition. "Originally posted by thasis"? I'm not sure which of us will be bothered by that mix-up the most. Even the symbols come from a font, yar? Is it MS Symbol? Or is it some unicode thing?Sorry about that, Tenzhi. Truly I am. Fixed now. I guess you're right, it has to come from a font, somewhere. But I have no idea which one. But under "Insert Symbol" the symbols I used were under "(normal text)," about 3/4 of the way down. There's a bunch of cool ones, I just picked some that seemed to fit "Desire, Secrecy, Community." Also, I PM'd Drake, and got his permission to take over the guild. So I'm going to open up a few official orders of business:1) How secretive do we want to keep this thing? The PM idea could be a hassle... although I like it, some may not. Some may want to know exactly who's a fellow member of the guild. Regardless, this brings me to my second point of business: 2) We could seperate the guild into two halves very easily using the PM idea. The members who want to be involved in the Guild Wars partake in the PM system, while those who don't just talk about assassin stuff here (which of course, the members of the PM system will also probably do) 3) This guild isn't just geared towards the Guild Wars, but towards Assassins in general. On this main thread, we'll discuss general assassin topics... like good races, feats, skills, tactics, types of assassins, and so on. 4) I'd like to open the following discussion as a general topic: "What do you think is the best "kind" of Assassin?" My favorite is the Assassin/Arcane mix, like Ryn Tyrindell is -- 20th level build: Rogue 4 / Bard 1 / Assassin 8 / Sublime Chord 1 / Arcane Trickster 6. I hear a lot about Monk Assassin's, though. 5) I was thinking about starting a whole new thread for this new Assassin's Guild, with the official looking charter right at the top. I'd like to do this because new comers to this thread will of course look at the first post, and the first two pages -- which clearly have a different direction than what follows from here.I'm looking forward to participating in an active, very motivated guild!ךּבֿסּ Desire, Secrecy, Community |
| MustafaHazaraKhan01-16-05, 02:14 PM | A gangly-haired human commoner enters the room and looks around sheepishly at all the powerful people assembled. Having seen the head jester he runs up to him, trips over his own feet, collects himself, then fumbles around in his pocket to finally produce a delicately handwritten note. Having presented the parchment the commoner backs away and is gone before most notice. The note is written in multicoloured ink and a flowing script, and reads: "Greetings. If you enjoyed my performance then I will consider myself hired as a 'jester'. Call me what you will, for I have no fixed name save one. Yours in blood and coin, Second Prime of Salazar" For source material about how to run an assassin's guild, a great place to look is Races of Destiny. You could also consider how some of the groups from Complete Adventurer are run. Finally, you've got the stupidly-overpowered assassins guild from Epic, but something irks me about LeShay so I tend to discount them (and most of Epic). This character will be an adaptation of the Chameleon with max ranks in disguise and a mahoosive Charisma. I posted a build here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?p=5183923#post5183923&origin=), this is a tidied-up version of that basic build. HTH Mustafa of Many Faces |

| Kingside_Bishop01-16-05, 07:00 PM | This is something I posted to the Meta-Thread just now, on the topic of keeping our Assassin's identities unknown to other guilds. At present, we're required to post our characters to a thread, that everyone can look at -- these are attempts by me to somehow circumnavigate this fundamentally crippling rule to our guild: OK, here's a topic on another line of thought. First, some background: I'm trying to restart the Assassin's Guild for use in the next round of the Guild Wars. Here's my problem, and it's a problem that will probably be echoed by other players of stealthy characters: espionage -- particlurly, masquerading as a guild member of another guild. Say I want my character to infiltrate Guild X, to get close to a member of Guild X so as to kill him. When I declare my will to become a member of Guild X, Guild X can just look at my PC on the PCs Statistics Thread -- and thus determine that he's an evil Assassin. Fix #1: So, to fix this problem (unless there's a better solution) here's what I propose -- players can post their characters under an anonymous user name. Then Guildmasters, Guildmembers, and the DMs keep lists in their PM boxes of who's PC really belongs to who. This list is updated by the Guildmasters when necessary.Fix #2When a character wants to infiltrate another guild, if he meets certain pre-reqs, he may create a 2nd username and associated PC -- however, this PC's stats are totally false. If the PC gets in combat, his original PC's stats are used. To gain this 2nd username, a PC must have X ranks in Bluff and Disguise. If a PC wants to do this, he must inform the appropriate DM before he does so.I like #2. Much simpler. If anyone doesn't know, here are some rules for the Guild Wars (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5237133). These have not been accepted yet, although there appear to be few objections. We're still working on the rules -- this is just something that I presented that has met with a degree of support.ךּבֿסּ Desire, Secrecy, Community |
| Kingside_Bishop01-17-05, 11:51 AM | The short, checkered man laughs at the splendidness of the reborn guild, sits down at a table with his compatriots, and proceeds to inform them of how they can best make their presence felt in this, a most profitable city. I'm getting a lot of PMs about character creation (which is a good thing, because people understand the need for secrecy around here), so here are the rules for creating characters: To create a character, use these rules (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5132815&postcount=5). Then, post the character to this thread (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=360911), using this template (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5132753&postcount=3) to fill out the information.I look forward to seeing some great assassins! Not that you actually have to be a member of the assassin PrC, you just have to meet the criteria described in the Guild Charter, and repeated after every one of my posts Something we can talk about in the open, though, is different kinds of assassins. I've always liked the Assassin gish (Assassin/Arcane Power mix) -- high Sneak Attack with high Arcane Strike and a pair of Spellstoring (Hold Monster) weapons is hard to beat, plus all the other utility spells that exist outside of the assassin spell list. But I'd be really curious to hear about everyone's favorite kind. A lot of people swear by the Monk/Assassin, because of the synergy with special Monk attacks (stunning fist, etc.), but I think that's too reliant on Fortitude Saves... ךּבֿסּ Desire, Secrecy, Community |
| Gurney Halleck01-17-05, 11:09 PM | A sudden burst of noise from the door of the Halls of the Guild is heard, and a figure of medium stature walks in. On his head is worn a hat that shadows the upper portion of his face. About his figure is draped a long grey coat made of leather. Over his shoulder, a large crossbow is strapped. On his belt a quiver of bolts lie. Opposite the bolts is a long, slender sword, the Silver hilt clashing with the black and grey attire that he wears. He looks up, revealing dark, beady eyes and the face that resembles a ferret. A wry grin upon his face, he removes his hat, wiping back his jet black locks, and replaces it back upon his head. He gives a courteous bow, then looks up again. I am former Count Hasimir Fenring. I come seeking ... work, for which i am suited. I am yours to command; for the proper price that is. He scoops up his hat in his hand and gives another bow, then replaces his hat upon his head and stalks to a shadowed corner of the Guild. |
| alaron01-18-05, 11:48 AM | A short man, wearing a black cloak obviously too small for him, slides meekly through the door. He removes the cloak to reveal his fine dress, and short stature. "If this be a place of 'preformances' then let me demonstrate how they are to be done." At this point he pulls out a bongo like drum, and initiates a song which any preformer would be proud to call his own. At the closing of the song he makes a quiet, and meek statement "I am Tyr. Is there work here for me?" |
| I wish I was01-18-05, 11:03 PM | The door to the guild creeps open, slow, but sure, and through the light, a small figure, only half a man, steps though. His countenance is cloaked by jet bandages, and the rest of his form, hidden by a simple, gray robe. Clinging to his bosom, is an unadorned, black leather-bound book, and as the creature approaches, it holds the thing tighter. There is stands still for a moment then, from some where under those wrappings, a muttered phrase emits: "The Whispered One sends a seer," then silence. |
| Rurik "The Silent"01-18-05, 11:08 PM | Opening the door slowly as to allow time to reconize his presence Severis steped into the room. He Didn't feel like being shot at with crossbows of others in his profession so he swiftly introduced himself. "Well met strangers. Im Severis Deptum. I hail from a far away land and am currently in dire need of work. Im an ex military scout and i can get my way around...and can even slit a few throats if need be", he says this last part with a smirk. "If you coudl use my sevrices i woudl be obliged for the room and board." This gave teh other in the room a chance to look over the stranger. Severis stands at about 5 ft 8 in, in a tight leather cheast protector. And with bracers along the out side of his forearms. Two short swords worn with use. He wares a bandoller and potion belt with a couple vials along it. The Deep red tattered half cape with a hood is wrapped aroudn hsi shoulders. He has a tattered black sash belt and high dark military fasion boots. And he awaites their judgement. | Kingside_Bishop01-19-05, 02:39 AM | The jester smiles a quick, witty grin, and pulls out several colored balls before beginning to toss them into the a circles around his head. The dexterity which with he handles them speaks of another skill. "The players, once hidden, now emerge! Our troupe grows in size, and with our number so shall our infamy grow... with each new member, our skills are compounded, until, finally, we may weave the performance of the universe!" The balls begin to turn to daggers, midflight, before your eyes. They flash dully in the air for a few moments, before coming away crimson with blood. The whirling arc of knives above the jester's head is now a bright, shimmering red. Then, the colors begin to shift in a scintillating array of saphire, amythyst, and ruby. Then, in the blink of an eye, the daggers fly. But before they land, they dissapear in a haze of gray mist. Ryn smiles. "Welcome to all the new members of this fine establishment! I await the day when we may truly put your skills, and mine, to use... on the true stage, where they belong, of course -- as opposed to merely showing off to one another! For we are truly the most skilled performers in all the land... truly!" I can tell that this guild is really going to be great. We're going to have a lot of fun with this. Here's an updated member list. I've also recieved PMs from three others that want to join, if we're allowed multiple PCs in the Guild Wars (which I think we will be, judging by the rules talk going on right now). I'm unable to edit this into the Guild Charter, because of a boards glitch, but I'm sure it will be fixed in time. Member List: Sigurd (Zagan) Second Prime of Salazar -- A.K.A. "Commoner" (MustafaHazaraKhan) Count Hasimir Fenring (Gurney Halleck) Tyr (alaron) "Seer" (I wish I was) Severis Deptum (Rurik "The Silent") Ryn looks at the seer, "...and what may we call you, my beshadowed friend?" Yeah ive never played this guild thing before but it sounds really fun, i can have a character written up tommorow. LvL 15 with 200k? But ive got a question as where to post the characters and what not? could someone get me a Pm with this information. I think we coudl run a very good guild here. Very efficient. So ide appreicate some explinations on what i can do and where to do it and what not. But ive played DnD for years so i just need liek a week or 2 to get used to this type of online thing.Great, let's get you geared up! We should do it on the main thread, here, so that everyone knows how to do this. So, here's what you do.1) Create your character. Do this using these rules (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5132815), then post your character to this thread (http://www.wizards.com/leaving.asp?url=http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=360911&origin=), using this template (http://www.wizards.com/leaving.asp?url=http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5132753&postcount=3&origin=) to fill out the info. 2) If you want, you can read the "beta" rules here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5237133). Mind, these are not the official rules -- they're not done yet... we're still hammering out the details. So, these rules are subject to change. Also, just to be clear, we're getting 112,500 XP -- so you've got some room for crafting items, XP penalties, whatever. That's 7,500 XP to play around with, which should be plenty. And, yep, that's 200,000 GP. For more details, go to the links I listed above. Here's my character (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5244556&postcount=62), as an example. I understand that we're drawing from all over the boards for new members to the guild, so not everyone understands how this whole online thing is going to work. That's why I started the revivification of the Assassin's Guild early -- so we could get everything squared away. I've only been here about two weeks, myself, but have managed to pick everything up. If anyone has any questions, please ask here or in a PM, whatever you're most comfortable with. I'll be happy to answer any questions that you have. So, first off, "how are we going to do this?" Here's how it works, specifically for the Assassin's Guild -- sometimes, we'll be sneaking into oppossing guilds, other times, we'll be infiltrating them. When we sneak in, you'll use your Hide/Move Silently against the oppossing guild's highest Spot/Listen mods. When we're infiltrating, you'll use your Bluff/Disguise against the oppossing guild's highest Sense Motive/Spot. Because we've got to go against the best in the oppossing guild, be sure to have high mods to ensure success. All rolls wil be done by a DM, to ensure fairness. Then, if you're infiltrating a guild, and succeed at these opposed rolls, you get to create a second username, and register a second character with that username. To maintain this cover identity, you have to keep beating the opposed roll every turn (each week, each month game time). Using this cover identity, you can join another guild and do whatever you want inside that guild -- talk to other guildmembers (like we're talking now, or through PMs) to find stuff out, get close to someone to assassinate them (my faovred tactic), nose about and break stuff, etc. Whatever we're contracted to do, really. In the larger picture, we'll be running a game that looks something like a Turn Based Strategy and a Roleplaying game hybrid, but much more heavily weighted on the roleplaying side. Especially for our guild. But, there will be a strategy side to our gameplay. We might try to control certain parts of cetain cities or towns, have a hidden stronghold in the mountains, or whatever we want, really. Now, I recognize that there will be members who may not fit into this Sneak/Infiltration framework. But don't worry -- there will be a place for you. Even though this is an Assassin's Guild, we're all about three principles: "Desire, Secrecy, Community." As long as your character can fit into that framework, he will belong here. A good assassin can become a phenomenal assassin with the right kind of support. That is, we're here for community, too -- which means you can expect the best support possible when you're asked to perform a mission. This may range from in-guild magic item creation, to magical teleportation, to whatever you might need. We're here to back you up, and you're here to back us up. It's almost like a much darker three muskateers approach -- "All for One (and Profit) and One for All (and Profit)." Except, we're not here to protect the king. We're here to kill him.ךּבֿסּ Desire, Secrecy, Community |
| Wilds01-19-05, 12:19 PM | The door opens slowly and silently. Entering through it is you see a non-descript looking man in a gray cloak. As the door closes behind him you see runes glisten from the inside of the cloak. "I came because from what i hear this is a place to go to find decent work." He shuffles away from the door and addresses Ryn Tyrindell. Facing him and bowing, "I am Kelreth, may i be of service here?." I intend to be a wizard or sorcerer depending on what is need. I will produce items for other guild members on depend as long as i am able too. |
| Kingside_Bishop01-19-05, 07:59 PM | Last night, the boards were tweaking with me, so my above post is missing something. The links for how to make your character! So, here they are: Create your character as you normally would. Then, send a PM to this person (http://boards1.wizards.com/member.php?userid=328700), containing a link to your posted character. To put a link in your PM that leads to your character's post... First post your character, using the process listed above. In the upper right hand corner of your post, you'll see a little white number (indicating which post number you are on the thread). Click on this number. Copy the URL in the address bar of the page that loads. Then, write your PM. When writing the PM, click the "Insert Hyperlink" button on the toolbar -- it's right there to the left of the Bold, Italic, etc. It looks like a world with a chain link. On the following prompt, type the name of your character. Then press "OK." On the next prompt, paste the URL that you copied earlier. Then press "OK." Now send the PM! |
| I wish I was01-19-05, 09:43 PM | From out of the shadowed corner of the guildhall steps the hidden figure. A strange gurgling seeps from the wrapings, which could be considered laughing. "Call me what you will," then back into the corner it slithers |
| Rurik "The Silent"01-19-05, 10:17 PM | I sent my character on 2 PM's to Demonfey...on that thread you said, it was too big for one PM apparently. So im good to go. I over spent by umm 106 gp though donno if thats ok or not. i can take something off if its not. but its awaiting approval. My first question for the guild now is; Are we just goign to be known as The Assassin's guild? or Are we going to come up with a cool name that strikes fear into our clients. Like something like; Breathing Shadows, or how there was a guy talkign abotu jesters we coudl disguise the guild with a name liek Jesters Court, or something. Just throwing out ideas. Any one? This is what my characters weapon looks liek if anyone wants to see, i drew it a while ago...the color copy was too large a file The Nightmare Edge (http://boards1.wizards.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1759) |
| Kingside_Bishop01-20-05, 01:41 AM | A sudden burst of noise from the door of the Halls of the Guild is heard, and a figure of medium stature walks in. He scoops up his hat in his hand and gives another bow, then replaces his hat upon his head and stalks to a shadowed corner of the Guild.Ah... another member of the court! I am glad to see a fellow such as yourself. We'll be able to talk politics to now end, you and I, and I look forward to working with you in whatever profession you have chosen. Whatever it is... I'm sure it's a profitable one. A short man, wearing a black cloak obviously too small for him, slides meekly through the door. Is there work here for me?"Ah, an... interesting perofrmance. Not what I'm into, personally, but I understand there's a market for that sort of thing down in the Orcish quarter -- yes, indeed! Ah, just a little ribbing between professionals, eh? Good to have you here! I imagine that your skills do not stop at the drums, am I right? The door opens slowly and silently. Entering through it is you see a non-descript looking man in a gray cloak. As the door closes behind him you see runes glisten from the inside of the cloak. "I came because from what i hear this is a place to go to find decent work." He shuffles away from the door and addresses Ryn Tyrindell. Facing him and bowing, "I am Kelreth, may i be of service here?."Welcome, Kelreth... you look like another player with a unique ability to perform. I look forward to seeing what you can do... welcome to this -- the Jester's Guild! From out of the shadowed corner of the guildhall steps the hidden figure. A strange gurgling seeps from the wrapings, which could be considered laughing. "Call me what you will," then back into the corner it slithersVery well then, my dark friend... I will call you "Seer" -- as that is the only identity you have chosen to provide me with. Every Jester's Guild needs a good diviner... to detect pick-pockets among the crowd, of course! And yes, indeed, we must think of the name of this fine establishment. I favor "The Jester's Guild" -- but as only one other true performer has come forth, I suppose that the rest of you wouldn't go for that, hmm? Now, "Breathing Shadows" -- that's an intriguing name! Not that it fits, no, not that of course. We're only an honest entertainer's guild, Master Severis. But most interesting, nonetheless... I believe I could swear by it, honestly I could, even if it would require me to ignore certain... factual innacuracies that the name implies... I sent my character on 2 PM's to Demonfey...on that thread you said, it was too big for one PM apparently. So im good to go. I over spent by umm 106 gp though donno if thats ok or not. i can take something off if its not. but its awaiting approval. Great! Just post him straight to the thread, though. We're resolving the secrecy issues over on the rules thread. And I can loan you 106 gp. I have a little over 7,000 gp leftover. Any one?Yeah... that sounds like a great idea! And, that guy... was me. It's OK, a lot of people don't notice a 2'6'' guy... but hey -- that's alright for the Guildmaster of the Assassin's Guild! And, actually, that would tie in really well with the restarting of the thread, fresh-like. It bugs me that Assassin is spelt wrong in the thread title. It bugs me a lot. And, to be quite honest, I really like "Breathing Shadows" -- I don't think I could have thought of a better one. Yes, indeed, "The Breathing Shadows" sounds impressive. My reffering to the place as a Jester's Guild is really just a roleplay thing -- that could confuse a lot of people. Also, here is how to post your character, one more time. This one's very clear. Follow this process, and you're guarunteed success.Create your character as you normally would. When writing the PM, click the "Insert Hyperlink" button on the toolbar -- it's right there to the right of the Bold, Italic, etc. It looks like a world with a chain link. On the following prompt, type the name of your character. Then press "OK." On the next prompt, paste the URL that you copied earlier. Then press "OK." Now send the PM!Also, the members list is updated. Check the post at the top of this page to see our current numbers. Right now, there's eight -- it appears we're doing very well.ךּבֿסּ Desire, Secrecy, Community |
| Wilds01-20-05, 12:01 PM | I will post by my character some time this week end when i get a chance to make it. *once again facing Bishop* I will start setting up arcane defenses around the guild if it is ok with the guild master. Just glyphs and a few fire traps. |
| Rurik "The Silent"01-20-05, 12:08 PM | Hey everyone, im using an old drawing of mine to give you an idea of what Kelreth looks like. If i end up doing some pictures for you guys it will take a while but if i get ideas ill do some. The wizard, Kelreth (http://boards1.wizards.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1754) And i liek The Shadows' Breath, anyone else? Thx for covering me on the 106 gp also, it goes with much appreication. Well met friends. Should we Begin to talk defenses of our guild? Or find and scout out potential clients? I still dont know how the guild to guild thing is goign to work, so if we arnt startign that yet then we'll find something else to do. |
| Ssin'urn Streea Ssinjin01-20-05, 01:47 PM | A drow silently passes in and out like a delicate fragrance merely to observe and allow awareness of her temporary presence. |
| Wilds01-20-05, 02:16 PM | ill get started now..... |
| alaron01-20-05, 07:00 PM | Are there any existing signs to determine the member ship of our fellow guild mates, because I would hate to kill a fellow member who is just posing as a difffrent character. |
| alaron01-20-05, 07:01 PM | A name for such an organization is dificult to come by, but a description is not. As far as I can tell we are the guild that can do anything that our job requires. many of us are non descript so that would be an unacceptable name. 'The boring guild that no one sticks out in' not a good title at all. Lets look at another part of the guilds general group of people. Desire, Secrecy, Community Those are are our guidlines. That leads us to the 'Assassins guild' to be our title, which we agreed is not a good idea. One option that just occured to me is to be the 'collection agency' we collect information, settle debts via blood and one could sat that we are the medieval repo men even if the object never really belonged to the one who asks us for the item. |
| Rurik "The Silent"01-20-05, 07:09 PM | As far as signs go we could have a hand signal or something. Or a certain style fo holding our weapons or a smiliar mark or tatoo. And As for the name; Collection Agency sounds like another good idea. Or we coudl put up a ligimate front or sometihng and act like a antique shop with rare and exotic good witch are obviously stolen and what not. |
| Kingside_Bishop01-20-05, 07:56 PM | *once again facing Bishop* I will start setting up arcane defenses around the guild if it is ok with the guild master. Just glyphs and a few fire traps.Excellent! I can already tell that your help will be most... useful in our enterprises here! Well met friends. Should we Begin to talk defenses of our guild? Or find and scout out potential clients? Oh, our clients will come to us, my friends. Once they hear of our talent, it is innevitable! In fact, and keeping this between you and I, I've already recieved two job offers for when the time comes... A drow silently passes in and out like a delicate fragrance merely to observe and allow awareness of her temporary presence.Ryn smiles as she walks breezily out of the room. "She'll return... especially if she hears that her skills could be very... appreciated." Are there any existing signs to determine the member ship of our fellow guild mates, because I would hate to kill a fellow member who is just posing as a difffrent character. Now is not the time to discuss this... someone could be listening... Good to hear from everyone! Here's what's going on... 1) Concerning Our DefensesI've taken the Landlord feat, which means that we've got 250,000 gp to spend on our Guildhome (main guildhouse). This feat's out of the Stronghold Builder's Guidebook. This book also has rules for designing... strongholds! So, I was going to start building it. If anyone has any desires, please speak up! We've got 250 grand!2) On ClientsIndeed, I've already recieved two PMs concerning potential jobs. One job actually has about three parts. That's quite a number of employment opportunities. However, I will post out price guide to all the other guilds participating in the Guild Wars -- yes, even the good ones. Imagine how they'll be offended!3) On Ally IdentificationHere's the process for mission completion, as far as I've got it planned out. Input welcome, of course. First, I recieve a contract through PM. Then, depending on the skills needed for success in the mission, I'll select a guild member based on their skill and how many contract missions they've already done (we want to distribute them as evenly as possible). If the mission requires you to go undercover, you'll do so. I've already described this process. You perform the mission to the best of your abilities, then leave the infilitrated guild by never posting there using that screen name again. Now, what happens if you're undercover, and we recieve a contract for your undercover character? We would do the following; input welcome, as always. First, I recieve the contract. Then, I notify you that a contract has been made for your undercover character. I create and send to you two one-use magic items -- one with the Misdirection spell recreating your death, and one with the Shadow Walk spell. You recreate your death using the first item, and while you're invisible return to your undercover guild's Guildhome using your Guild Key (just as if you had been slain). Then, use the Shadow Walk item. I'll meet you on the Shadow Plane to get your Guild Key from you, and give it to the party that contracted the assassination. The Guild Key is the symbol of a person's membership in a guild (and may have some statistical importance, which is being discussed right now). We'll use it as a token of proof of assassination -- because it's left behind when someone "dies." Also, no one will really "die" in the game. They're just taken out of the game for a turn. That's why we're trying to give the Guild Key some signficance -- so that dying means something more than just being benched for a week. Right now, I'm pushing for the Guild Key to grant access to a guild's Guildhome for 6 turns after it leaves its owner's possession (for whoever holds the key, only). That way, people would kill people to get their Guild Keys, so they could invade that guild's guildhome. 4) Our Secret SymbolI think it would be cool if all of our assassin usernames had a symbol in our sigs. I've already got one (bottom right hand corner, our three principles, untranslated, as a link to the main thread here). But our undercover usernames shouldn't have any identification of any kind. We don't want to develop patterns. Then someone might find out about it, and be able to tell who's a hidden assassin.ךּבֿסּ Desire, Secrecy, Community |

That's just the sort of thing we're looking for! Underground, we'd need all the fixins -- magical and alchemical laboratories, bedrooms for at least 20, a basic chapel for those of us who are religous, etc. I imagine it will look very good. Can't wait to see it. I'm going to work on my own design, though, just for fun. We should all come up with ideas, then pick our favorite. |
| thasis01-21-05, 10:04 AM | So... whazup with the Assassins guild. Doing some cool work and shitaki. Anways, just checking up on whats happening here. I'm just going to like hover around untill something catches my attention. |
| Rurik "The Silent"01-21-05, 12:48 PM | ill scan it to my computer and E mail it to any and all who want a copy of the stronghold. Basically in short its a 3 story in. On the main floor there is a stage for bards and basically a tavern. When people walk in they are disarmed and their weapons are stored in a storage room off to the side. To help insure there are less bar fights. I tihnk i had something liek we coudl hire pixies naturally invisible to patrol the main floor with wands of hold monster incase there is trouble. In the weapons storage area there is also a secret hidden door at the back wall close to the actual back that woudl ead to an ally way. There is a secret entrance to this back room and in the back room the only way in being secret doors and one leading to the ourtide is a secret trap door. once you get in there it is a wine celler. in the wine celler hidden is another trap door leading to a basment 3. After dropong through fomr the wine celler you find your self in a round room. Then there is a long hallway/room. there is only one safe way across this room witch of course all of us will know. But there is also a bypass witch we will all also know. After you get therough this. You find your self int he main quarters. . I wont go into detail here but there are enough bunks for over 50 people, and then a rogue trainging area and fighter trainging area, a library and magical articians area. A weapons storgae area and store house for potions exc. Then there is a secret trap door in a closet leading to the guild masters ofice and the other highly ranked members. I didnt make those rooms becasue they might want to trap their rooms them selves. |
