| Shemeska the Marauder04-15-04, 06:10 PM | "Greetings my fellow cutters, bloods and berks alike. You know and love Sigil, the City of Doors, kip and throne of Her Serenity, The Lady of Pain." *The King of the Crosstrade smoothes out her evening gown and picks randomly at the razorvine tiara perched between her jackal-like ears* "But here you have a place now in which to speculate, chatter, and feed the rumormill that I've known, loved, and made my own with which to profit greatly. Step up and feed your heart, your efforts, your jink and your soul to the Kriegstanz that seethes underneath every action and transaction in the backalleys, troughs and high houses of this center of the planes we call home." *smirks knowingly* "And trust me, you can always trust me. You can spill whatever darks you know here without fear of the Hardheads locking you up, the Anarchist's League scragging you in the night, or even such fiends as myself taking too deeply a glance at the dark in your soul. Trust me, when have I ever acted out of the best interests of those who mattered?" -The Foundation, and The Marauder take no legal responsibility for flayings or mazings at the whim and will of Her Dread Majesty, The Lady of Pain- |
| Silmarien Aldalome04-15-04, 07:35 PM | ....she is stalking the City's Underworld - her Runestaff concealed beneath her robes - and silver blonde hair carefully concealed. Now and then - you see a glint of blue flash from her eyes - as she softly sings the Pereldar Verse - readying its use when it may be needed. She studies a cobblestone alleyway - and sees something disappear into a drain..... |
| Incenjucar04-15-04, 07:35 PM | "And to the berks.. especially.. aye, my dear? Not to mention the conies..." The fire polar pulls his flame-patterned cloak from himself in a dramatic flare of revelation, the cloth bursting in to seeming flame, then flowing away in to his platinum, ruby-topped ring. He runs his fingers through the faintly-writhing, soot-covered strands of solid flame that compose his hair, causing small motes of black ash to fall on to the white ash that composes his skin, and the firesilk tunic that covers him. "So, my dear, has anyone dared to try and compete with your gambling franchise, lately, or have the flesh managed to keep their brighter number from the illithids of late?" |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-15-04, 08:11 PM | A modron walks into the place with a distinct *whir* and *clank*. Its large pupils dialate whenever it seems to focus its stare at anything in particular. Its two front arms end not in hands, but gear spirits who have molded themselves into crossbows. Every now and then the modron seems to converse with these beings, but one can never be sure, as the 'language' is nothing more than a series of 'clicks' and 'beeps'. "Greetings, Shemeska. Query: Is Nordom welcome in your establishment or are you still interested in turning Nordom over to Mechanus for re-assimilation? Designation: A-1 and A-2, gear spirit crossbows have explained to Nordom how Nordom insulted designation: Shemeska. Nordom offers apologies." Converses with A-1 and A-2. |
| Ogre4Hire04-15-04, 08:14 PM | The big ogre moves through the room with slow, deliberate steps. When he reaches the others, he stops and looks around "Nice looking setup you've got here, Shemeska. So, was there something specific that was happening?" He grins, revealing a mouth full of large, yellow teeth. "And by the way, just who is that stranger outside, anyway?" |
| Primus, the One and Prime04-15-04, 09:27 PM | A device composed of a multitude of gears and gleaming metal walks into the bar. It wears a long robe composed of tiny links and its clawed feet click on the wooden floor as it approaches the table. The construct's "head" is composed of a featureless piece of obsidian. As the creature bows politely to the assemblage its obsidian face flickers and is replaced by a stoic androgynous form with piercing steel gray eyes. The assemblage is instantly sure that a being of some serious power is now in their midst. "Hello, imperfect beings. I went through quite a bit off trouble to come to this meeting - these golems are not simple to devise." |
| user name04-15-04, 09:55 PM | (a quick note:I have yet to find an online game to play in and therfore view this as a good spot to practice roleplaying) A strange being looking somthing like a cross between an ooze and an illithid falls into the middle of the room from nowhere and looks up. ...Where am I? Why do I suddenly have a form? The creature double over in what seems to be pain as it solidifys into what seems to be a human. This is the last time I attempt to examine a multiverse up close, what a terrible idea this was. the creature stumbles around for a few seconds before falling flat on its face and losing consciousness. (basic idea is a creature from the far realm who got a little too close to the multiverse and fell in) |
| Shemeska the Marauder04-15-04, 11:01 PM | The Marauder takes a seat at an open table, her entourage staying away and less oppressive for the moment. First she turns to the inner planar denizen slowly smouldering off to one side "Oh I wouldn't call it my gambling franchise. To tell the truth I don't so much as own a penny of the establishment. The managers just do what I tell them and the owner is nowhere in plain view." glances over at the dragon head, stuffed and mounted on the wall, still lively and talkative for a trophy "As for the rest of you, talk amongst yourselves for the moment. I must excuse myself to one of the back rooms for a short while. Some clients don't like to discuss contractual matters out in public." With a swish of long fabric between her ankles, the 'loth silently floats a few inches above the floor and makes a quick exit. However, in transit she does glance over at the rogue modron, smiling and tipping her head in some agreement, likely some telepathic contact taking place as well |
| Incenjucar04-16-04, 05:31 AM | The surprisingly-chill fire polar chuckles through a grin, his fangs of solid flame glinting and rippling the air with their momentarily-exposed heat, tiny points of red light piercing the utter blackness of his eyes, far too akin to a lich's gaze, before his facade fades to normalcy. "A dodge and a denial in one, my dear. Brava. I see you've not lost your edge amidst all of the philosophy and other... distractions... rumor suggests you've had lately..." As the fuzzy fiend makes her exit, the Flame Dancer then looks to the growing crowd, and reaches over to pat the rogue modron on the top of its surface, leaving a bit of white ash, and drawing away a harmlessly small amount of heat. "Worry not, little half-flesh, Primus is far too logical to cause a ruckus, and risk finding out how nasty vacuum welding can be on the gears..." The pale polar then looks up to the ogre, a slender black-ash brow lifted as he gestures towards the psuedonatural humanoid puddle on the floor. "Wary you do not step in that, milord. It reminds me of some of the natives of Ooze, and rarely are they... pleasant to find on one's foot or boot." |
| Sarig the Genie04-16-04, 06:17 AM | A creature walks up to the other, looking quite similar to an air genasi. "Hello mortals, and immortals." Shifty look at the elemental. "You are of the Inner Planes yes? Ah, I knew I felt some real power in the room, not just that of these humble Outer Planes inhabitants." "Say, what do all of you know about Genies, their connections to each others, and where they all come from? I'm collecting knowledge on the subject and need wievs that are different from my own (which is the truth of course)" |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow04-16-04, 09:02 AM | The gathering is interrupted by the sound of thundering hoofs, which gradually draws nearer and nearer to the meeting place. Suddenly, a black carriage bursts into the room, pulled by eight armanites (four black, four white). The carriage finally comes to a stop, after nearly trampling several of the gathered. The vrock driver hops off the carriage and opens the door for the new guest. Out steps what appears to be a very tall and heavily muscled ebon-skinned man with six fingers, glowing green eyes, pointed ears and smallish fangs. He is wearing a white cloak and way too much silver jewelry, while a wavy blade at his side constantly drips acid onto the floor. He snaps his fingers and his vrock servant begins to pour a foul-smelling liquid into a wine-glass. 'Greetings all.' *looks over at Primus* 'Oh, I was hoping you'd be here. It's nice to see you here after that little incident with you-know-who. Still, it's amazing that it happened at all. I mean, you, ruler of an entire race taken out like that by that dead little butterball and his glorified power word, kill. I'm surprised you can even show your face in civilized society. *notices Ogre4Hire* 'Hmmm...so much for civilized society.' 'By the way, has anyone seen our Marauding host? I simply must have words with her regarding the decor. I mean, a talking dragon head? Who decorated this place? Hruggek the Decapitator?' OOC - The description of Graz'zt comes nearly word-for-word from For Duty and Deity. |
| kliate04-16-04, 09:47 AM | Of all the sorry creatures to wander into the wrong place, this may be a contender for the sorriest... A young prime lizardfolk with an overused greatsword mounted on his back staggers into the room, seemingly alarmed and confused at what fate might bring him to a place of this. His yellow eyes bulge nearly out of his head, as he tries to take in his surroundings and determine what strange place this is. After finally noticing the group through the entrance door, he begins babbling in common... "What iss thiss placce? What IS thiss placce? What ISS THISS PLACCE??" As though the strain of his predicament were too much on his limited mind, he falls against a nearby wall, wailing. Had this creature possessed any tear ducts, the floor would be in need of a good cleaning. After getting a grip, the lizard wanders up to the table and seizes a seat. "Pleasse forgive my ignorancce, good ssirss...that'ss the lasst time I lissten to the fool who told me to keep my portable hole in that fanccy bag of hiss. I am Kliate - ssoldier of fortune, and fortune sseemss to have a cruel ssensse of humor today." |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-16-04, 10:03 AM | The modron turns its attention to the Flame Dancer, focusing its stare before it speaks. "Gratititudes. Thankyou for your concern. However, there is only a .02% chance Primus would attack Nordom here. According to the Franternity of Order, any power of diety level used within the confines of Sigil has approximately a 78.2% chance, give or shake.....error.....TAKE five, of gaining the attention of the Lady of Pain. Such action is highly illogical and impractical." The modron offers only an expression of curiousity when it turns from the Flame Dancer, and focuses on the.....puddle.....on the floor. "Processing.....lifeform? Unknown. Substance does not match any substance known in the multiverse. Danger? Unknown. Further data must be accumulated. Greetings, puddle. I am Nordom, a NOT modron. Rogue. Backwards. Nordom=backwards modron. *Click! *Whhhrrrrr* *Click!*" |
| user name04-16-04, 01:53 PM | the creature solidifys a bit and stands up. My name is most likely impossible for any of you to pronounce so you may call me whatever you want to. reality seems to twist and bend around the creature as it splits into two smaller versions of itself who quickly merge back together and form the original creature. Well at least I won't be too homesick, it appears I can make this place a bit more like home with a bit of effort. |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow04-16-04, 02:08 PM | *the Lord of the Triple-Realm saunters over to the ooze-slug-illithid-thing* "I wouldn't make assumptions about someone's pronouncation, especially that of an Abyssal Prince. Have you ever tried to say 'Diinkarazan?' And don't get me started on however Fraz-Urb'luu is spelling his name these days." *goes back to planning wardrobe for appearance on the Jerry Springer show - 'My Son is Dating a Mushroom!'* |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-16-04, 03:26 PM | Nordom continues with its discussion with the far realm.....thing. "That is inadvisable. This establishment is run by the arcanaloth Shemska the Marauder. If you attempt to cross her, there is a 99.998% chance she will take possession of your soul with a soul gem and sell it to a lower planar denizen for jink and use said jink to buy a new dress. A white one. Not only is it a nice contrast to her dark fur, but it sends a powerful message to the clueless that not everyone who wears white is a force for good. Tangent:If I cannot pronounce your name, I will assign one to you. I will call you......Fluffy the Far Realmer." |
| Primus, the One and Prime04-16-04, 03:46 PM | The golem casts an eye at the polar and the rogue modron and seems about to say something when suddenly the Black man makes his entrance. The mechanical being lets out an irritated squeaking as the Abyssal Lord mentions the fall of the former Primus. "Very humorous, Graz'zt. I was not aware that you got out much, I thought tanar'ri lords spent most of their time talking to themselves." Turning a cold metallic shoulder on the Archdemon, Primus glances at Nordom and says in the cool, emotionless voice. "I do not excercise my power in such ways, such would not be prudent. Come, little flaw, return home and we shall scrub the chaos from you, one gear at a time." |
| user name04-16-04, 03:49 PM | the creature looks puzzled. A soul? What is that? You must forgive my ignorance but I only recently arrived in this miserable restrictive place. |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-16-04, 03:55 PM | Nordom turns from Fluffy and focuses its attention on Primus. It shows no fear-whether this is from stupidity, insanity, or a simple lack of emotional understanding is unknown. "Unacceptable. Nordom appreciates your offer, but Nordom would rather keep its individuality. Nordom has sufferd much to learn of this concept, and would never willingly part with the knowledge Nordom has gained." The rogue returns its attention to Fluffy "Query processed. Soul: The sentient, spiritual side of an intelligent mortal being which possesses the psyche of said being. Upon death, the soul is released from the mortal physical body to reside in the outerplane matching its alignment, or realm of the power it worshipped in life." |
| user name04-16-04, 04:13 PM | the creature nods as it writes down everything said on a notepad that seems to have appeared from nowhere. Very interesting. However I should note that I would not have a soul as I am not from this reality and as such most of the rules of this reality do not apply to me. |
| Incenjucar04-16-04, 06:41 PM | "Shemeska in a white dress...? Irony aside... hmnn... I really do need to start carrying around a waterskin... but what to gut to make it..." The polar smirks and crosses his arms over his chest, white ash wafting from his arms as they rub against his firesilk, offering a nod to the reptilian, glowing white slit pupils tearing free of his lightless eyes for a spare moment, before fading away again. "Worry not, little flesh. The only thing that you need to worry about here is consumption of the lungs." |
| Dr. Grim04-16-04, 07:04 PM | You all notice a scholarly looking dark elf burst into the room, with a smug, chuckling look about him. "Hah! Lets see that stupid paladin try to follow me here! I borrow a few stupid peasants for my alchemical experiments, and suddenly the whole freakin' Furondian army is after me! Oh well, I should be safe here........" Suddenly notices the motley assortment of characters assembled in the room.... and the weird decor.... he suddenly seems a tad thunder-struck. "Where in the Nine Hells am I?!?!" |
| kliate04-16-04, 08:25 PM | The lizard's interest is piqued by the mention of the word 'paladin', and he quickly turns to see where it came from. "Dear me! You're unlike any elven-kind I've chanced to meet... Personally, I'd like to find out what this place is, myself. At least the seats are nice. Now, what paladin did you say was giving you trouble? We might be able to negotiate a deal to handle him. My friend here," he glances towards his sword "is particularly fond of the taste of human flesh..." |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-16-04, 08:27 PM | Nordom turns to the drow "Nine hells.....processing.....prime name for Baator. You are not in Baator. Safety is not assured, but you are not in Baator. Plane: Outlands. Location: Sigil, the City of Doors. Ward: Lady's. Establishment: Fortune's Wheel. *CLick!* *CLiCK!* Warning: Please be advised; you were probably safer with the paladin." Nordom returns to Fluffy "Outside reality? Are you refering to the Astral plane? Does not compute. You do not fall within astral creature parameters. Query: Where is this 'outside reality?' Sub-query: Does it have a name?" |
| Shemeska the Marauder04-16-04, 09:26 PM | Originally posted by Incenjucar "Shemeska in a white dress...? Irony aside... hmnn... I really do need to start carrying around a waterskin... but what to gut to make it..." In a sequestered chamber near the back of the inn, the Arcanaloth pauses in front of her mirror of mental prowess, casually observing the conversations in the other room. A sudden thought breaks her concentration and ends the scry effect for the time being. "Hmm... I wonder how I'd look in white. The irony would be lovely, and I might even be able to wrest the whole 'I'm friendly and harmless' tag from A'..." The Marauder grabs a small but exquisitely crafted stuffed A'kin doll and slashes it with her claws a few times, though it repairs the damage slowly by way of some magical repair effect enchanted upon it "Might be a bit late to get that title from him though, and people might not take my threats seriously. Oh well, their funeral..." The fiend admires herself in the mirror for a moment then tosses the doll off to one side where another magical effect takes place. The doll squeels, pleads for mercy and apologizes to 'The King in all her fiendish glory'. A slow smirk travels across the Marauders muzzle "But the white dress is certainly something to consider I guess, it'd match with the coppery color of my fur. Eh, though it might require some wardings against... liquids..." glares into the mirror again with a pointed look at one of the guests |
| Ogre4Hire04-16-04, 10:41 PM | Paladin? The ogre chuckles menacingly (though it would sound a lot scarier without all the fiends around) and flexes powerful arms the size of tree trunks. If you need help with one of those, you've come to the right place. He turns and spits a glob of mucus into a nearby spitton. |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow04-17-04, 03:00 AM | The Demon Prince of Shadows suddenly appears behind the lizard-folk and places a six-fingered claw on its scaly shoulder and leans in to whisper in the Prime's ear. "So, you like killing humans do you? Need a job?" Graz'zt's vrock man-in-waiting appears at kliate's other shoulder, albeit without the grace of the Lord of the Triple-Realm. He is holding a scroll in one claw and a quill in the other. "Just sign here." :smirk: |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow04-17-04, 03:13 AM | As Graz'zt attempts to cheat...err, make a deal that he would have no intention of betraying, he reaches out with telepathy to the furry mind of the Marauder. "The rogue's right, you know. White *is* your color. Granted, it's also *my* color, so I will have to insist on copyright infringement were you to appear in public so clad. I do, however, have a bone/metal/chain thong that I'd be willing to part with. How TSR talked me into posing for the cover of a module* in *that* I'll never know..." *The module is, of course, For Duty and Deity. |
| Xanxost the Slaadi04-17-04, 04:30 AM | It seems that a certain Slaad has been here the entire time. Xanxost has been busy scribbling something into its notebook, and referencing other notebooks laid out on the table every now and then. Is it Xanxost? Well, most folk would be able to tell one Slaad from another, they're rather different for being the same species. But it makes one wonder, who actually knows what Xanxost looks like? For apparently no reason at all, the Slaad tosses a vial of ink in its mouth after dipping its quill pen in it. After a moment of contemplation, it frowns. Oooh...that ink was definately out of season. When did it expire? It blinks and looks around, as if someone asked a question. The spire? Straight down! Miss Marauder will show you the way. |
| Incenjucar04-17-04, 07:01 AM | Lacking the ability to detect the psychic speak, for the better considering how many comments his kind can make in regards to colors, the Flame Dancer lifts a coal-black brow at the chaos sage. "Depending on whether that ink is from being or plant, you'll have to ask a necromancer or a druid, wild flesh, if you so desire." Feeling the flames beneath the ashes alter hue, the equal of hairs raised on his neck, the polar lifts his chin slightly, and ponders out loud. "I wonder if ...she... has figured out how to ward ambient light from scrying yet..." |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow04-17-04, 07:51 AM | But it makes one wonder, who actually knows what Xanxost looks like? But that's obvious! Xanxost looks like a chronatog! See here (http://www.wizards.com/magic/autocard.asp?name=chronatog). Interesting that the flavor text of the card mentions eating... EDIT - Anyone who might have happened to see this post in it's original form would know why Graz'zt is the Prince of Shadow and not the Prince of HTML. |
| kliate04-17-04, 08:59 AM | Kliate turns to the Demon Prince. "Yes, I like killing humans - but I insist on knowing what they did to my client before I force all the dirty work on my sharp-bladed companion. The fury of three is always a stronger inspiration than that of only two, so tell me of the ones that you need...handled, and I will name you my price." Kliate gestures for the Vrock to lay out the scroll and quill in front of him so he can review the contract. |
| Sarig the Genie04-17-04, 09:40 AM | Sarig looks at the contract and back at the Demon Prince "This is perhaps another example of the Rule of Threes...what to do when offered a contract by a fiend. To sign, to read or to run!" Sarig grinned and looked at the mortal |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-17-04, 10:37 AM | Nordom turns to the Djinn "Reading a fiendish contract seldom serves any purpose and is highly inefficient when it does- fiends are notorious for double meanings, hidden codicils, and all out untruths. Processing.....given Shemeska's previous telepathic message to Nordom and judging by the other beings' reactions to Nordom's comment about Shemeska purchasing a white dress, there is an 85.7% chance....give or take 12.....that she is telepathically spying on our conversation at this moment in time. Please be advised: Do not say or do anything that may insult or anger her. Query: You wished to know others' opinions on inner planar denizens? Sub-query: Why?" |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow04-17-04, 11:03 AM | The Demon Prince of Shadow looks deeply offended and hurt by some of the gathered's...insinuations. "Double meanings? Hidden Codicils? Untruths? Me? Listen you can ask anyone, I have only the best of intentions towards my employees and associates. Just recently I entertained a goddess of wealth at my Argent Palace, and always treated her with the utmost respect. She had gotten herself into a bit of a scrape and I was only too happy to help her out. Granted, there was a bit of a misunderstanding involving a group of leatherheaded primes, but that's to be expected." :schemes: |
| Sarig the Genie04-17-04, 11:03 AM | The Air Genasi look-alike looked at the Modron and replied in a hazy voice. "I am merely interested in knowning what you Outer Planes inhabitans would know. As I said, I'm gathering knowledge about the Inner Planes, and as such, it's good to know what people general assume us living there" |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-17-04, 11:18 AM | Nordom glances over at the Abyssal Lord but says nothing because even it isn't THAT stupid, and continues conversing with the djinn. "Explanation received. Nordom will give its opinion..... processing..... 1. Djinn. Plane: Elemental Air. General Ethics: Indivdualistic. General Morals: Good. Exceptions, of couse, exist. Gained reputation of being the friendliest with primes. Physically and magically weak, relative to other genies. 2. Efreet. Plane: Elemental Fire. General Ethics: Structured. Ordered. General Morals: Evil." Nordom's gear spirit comrades begin to click, and the modron takes a glance at the flame dancer. "Affirmative. Present company excluded, and of course, exceptions exist. Efreet have gained a reputation for having the cruelest behavior toward primes. Physically and magically moderately strong, relative to other genies. 3. Dao. Plane: Elemental Earth. General Ethics: Structured. Ordered. General Morals: Evil. Exceptions, of course, exist. Has gained a reputation of being slave traders. Physically and magically moderately strong, relative to other genies. 4. Marids. Plane: Elemental Water. General Ethics: Individualistic. Chaotic. Unpredictable. General Morals: None. Apathetic. Unpredictable. Exceptions, of course, exist. Has reputation of being wildy emotional and easily bored and angered. Physically and magically strong, relative to other genies." |
| Sarig the Genie04-17-04, 11:26 AM | Sarig flips up a notebook and starts taking notes of what the Modron is saying. "Thank you Modron, assuming you have also heard of the Jann, are these the only Genies you have heard of, or had contact with?" Sarig took some more notes, and seemed to be talking to himself. Out of Character: I am no Djinn, I'm a member of some Genie race I'm writing on at the moment, but as I'm currently in the form of an Air Genasi, calling me Djinn will suffice (; |
| Ambli Ironcutter04-17-04, 11:28 AM | A dwarf enters the room. "Greetings, I am Ambli Ironcutter. I just escaped from an overwhelming ambush that I and my comrades barely escaped from. Anyone interested in hearing the tale?" The dwarf moves to take a seat at a nearby table. |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-17-04, 11:36 AM | Nordom nods to the Air Genie....variant. "Affirmative. Those are the only ones Nordom is aware of. Apologies- will Nordom's knowledge not suffice? Tangent: Nordom is not Modron. Nordom is A not Modron. Backwards. Rogue. Nordom=Backward Modron. Please call Nordom Nordom." The rogue smiles in an awkward manner and you realize it's trying to be friendly and polite, even if it hasn't quite mastered etiquette yet. OOC- Sorry about the djinn thing. I only assumed that because you called yourself a genie. ;) |
| Sarig the Genie04-17-04, 11:47 AM | Sarig smiled and looked a bit less arrogant than usual Air Genasi. "Your knowledge will suffice for the most part, though there are more ancient variants of Genies, but we have not showed ourself to the public for aeons, so I would not expect people to have heard of us. That's not to say we haven't been around though, we just like changing shapes and living among mortals and immortals alike. We especially like to take the forms of Djinni and other Air people, as Air Genasi for example." "I assume you might not be aware of the link between dragons and genies either then? Hmm, very interesting. There's a lot to write about it seems." Sarig continued taking notes. |
| user name04-17-04, 01:15 PM | the creature's face dissolves and reforms looking at nordom. Well it is rather hard to explain but none of the rules governing this reality apply to my reality. Although where I come from is not chaotic in nature it can easily appear so to those from within this reality. What you see before you is merely a physical form forced upon me when I accidentally entered your reality. However, many people of your reality have rather fragile minds and cannot cope with the change and therfore go insane. From what information I have about your reality I know that you call it the Far Realm. |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-17-04, 01:55 PM | Nordom gave an inquisitive look to Sarig "Processing.....no known relation between dragons and genies.....processing......Theory: Both types are elemental in nature. Example; Djinn are native of the Elemental Plane of Air. Red and Gold dragons can breathe fire. Query: Breath weapons are result of Genie influence? Sub-query: In what way?" The rogue modron turns to Fluffy The Far Realm: A state of existence 'outside reality.' Memory sub-routines have been updated. Theorum: If mortal minds native to the multiverse inevitably devolve into insanity when exposed to the Far Realm, Far Realm natives are insane relative to said multiverse. Flaw: Fluffy seems coherent to all receptors. Query: Why is Fluffy coherent? Sub-query: How did Fffffflumph.......error... Fluffy arrive from Designation:Far Realm? Sub-sub-Query: Why did Fluffy travel from said realm to said mulitverse? Intentions:hostile? Curious? Banana?....error.....please ignore final query." |
| user name04-17-04, 02:05 PM | The creature chuckles. Well my reality is a higher state of being in the same way that a 3 dimensional being is completly superior to a 1 dimensional being. The 3 dimensional being can comprehend and understand a 1 dimensional being. However if that 1 dimensional being is suddenly forced into the 3rd dimension and forced to attempt to comprehend it that being will surely go insane. |
| user name04-17-04, 02:06 PM | And as far as intentions go I am completly neutral and ended up here accidentally. |
| Incenjucar04-17-04, 02:09 PM | The fire polar tuts and shakes a finger at Nordom, leaving a faint trail of short-lived, lingering white light in doing so. "Nay, little half-flesh, from what I have studied, her ilk have no such native power. I would expect, rather, a crystal ball of some sort, as I sense no sensors in our presence. As for the genie breeds, their history is known far better by those who watched it from its beginning... let it suffice to say that they are as the baatezu are to Baator, but not as the archons to the heavens." |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow04-17-04, 03:09 PM | An ebon pointed-ear twitches at the discussion across the room. Graz'zt leaves the lizardman to continue negotiations with his vrock, and joins the the group talking about the Inner Planes. "Why yes, there is a connection between the dragons and the genies. It is, however, rather indirect." "Who are the strongest allies of the efreet? Of course, the baat...spits...ezu. And who do they have good relations with? Why none other than Tiamat, Queen of Dragons (who, in turn, has had good relations with the githyanki). So much effort to avoid the inevitable." Daydreams about uniting the Lower Planes and ruling from a throne that looks suspiciously like a dead Demogorgon and a dead Orcus stuffed and sown together. |
| Sarig the Genie04-17-04, 03:50 PM | Sarig is writing like mad in the notebook, obviously happy about the different wievs on the matter. And then he turns to the elemental... "Did you see the beginning of the Genies perhaps? In that case, you are far older then I first though, or maybe you inherereted knowledge from the plane you are born from?" |
| Dr. Grim04-17-04, 06:13 PM | To Kliate and Ogre4Hire "Yes... I am always looking for.... help..... one thing though. I would prefer it if my hirelin.... ah.. I mean mercenaries in my service be not overly burdened by....... ethics or conscience. You see, the nature of my work is sometimes....... disturbing to other races..... who would think that humans would often have such delicate sensibilities, considering that they have such a reputation as warriors and conquerers? Must be too much time spend among the surface "elves"." The bitterness is palpable when the dark elf mentions his ancestral elven foes. He turns to Kliate "And by the way..... I would be a true example of elven-kind, a drow... not like those abberant off-shoots that dwell on the surface." The dark elf notes with interest the conversation about the connections between dragons, elementals and evil outsiders.... he pulls out a dusty tome that nearly pulsates with evil and leafs through it ...... mutters to himself about raiding the library of Demogorgan one of these days..... or at least sending henchmen to do it for him...... |
| Mithral Icesilver04-17-04, 06:18 PM | An aasimar with silver-blue-bronze hair walks in, with what appears to be a small bronze dragon the size of a cat on his shoulder. At least, until you notice that the "dragon" has a scorpion's tail. The aasimar wears streamlined, greenish leather armor studded with what appears to be silver. He carries a longsword with the same hue as his hair and star sapphire pommel at his side. Hanging from his shoulder is a satchel of the same material as his armor, with one largish outer pocket, apparently for his non-dragon. He sits down, hangs his satchel on the back of his chair, and raises a hand in greeting. Hello. I'm Mithral Silverwave. The half-bronze pseudodragon with the brain of a kender here *tugs on tail* is called Spearmint the Swimmer. Spearmint turns. YOU DARE PULL THE TAIL OF THE GREAT SPEARMIN ... Look! *spots a torus on the floor* A gold piece! Shiny! All mine! Mineminemine! Why does it have a hole in the middle? Who cares? Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii ine! Spearmint scampers in to the pocket in Mithral's backpack and vanishes completely. Mithral looks up at a surprised Nordom. It's a familiar pocket. I can seal it, with enough air inside to last an hour, or leave it open. Either way, he always fits all the way in. *notices the rogue modron behind the bemused expression* Don't tell me, I shouldn't call you "modron." *looks around* Oh, hello, Xanxost. And Shemeska, *calls into the air* I can tell you're watching. You have permission to deal with Spearmint as harshly as you see fit, short of killing him (directly or indirectly). *turns back to Nordom* He's my familiar, you know. Mithral spots Graz'zt. Hullo. I'm terrible with abyssal princes. It's ... Graz'zt, right? That makes at least three people I shouldn't mention, if not four. Shemeska had a disagreement with factol Rhys recently *addresses Nordom again*. The ogre over there *nods at Ogre4Hire* had something to say about comparing yugoloths to what the ogres call the "Eat it and you're hungry again in half an hour." For anyone who doesn't speak giant, that would be a kobold. Rhys said something that hit a nerve with Shemeska. Something about their high school prom. Remembers something. Oh, in case you're wondering, Spearmint talks to himself a lot. But then, so do I. Mithral pulls a book out of his satchel titled The Silver Sea, the Oceanus, and the Ma'at: A Guide to Upper Planar Waterways and consquently stops being aware of almost anything else, except to admonish Spearmint to get off of his head once or twice. |
| Murr-Quan Lord #204-17-04, 09:44 PM | A black, fluffy cat with a jade collar comes out from beneath one of the chairs. Looking back and forth between the assembled proxies, demon lords and Prime Paladin-slaying mercenaries, it finally settles its gaze on the Aasimar and his pseudodragon familiar. The cat watches him, likely unnoticed, for several long moments. Then he hops up on his shoulder from behind. Why? To see what he's reading about, of course. ^.^ |
| Silmarien Aldalome04-17-04, 10:35 PM | The world being a vast place - is filled with many beings of distinct kind and nature. The growing gathering here no exception. Silmarien watches the room from the candelabra - where she blends seamlessly into its chains and candles. She sees beings of machine, flesh, spirit and element. She watches the Drow closely - but turns her attention to the one named Incenjucar, whose aura is iridescent with the fire element. [PrivateMentalMode]....what purpose brings a Drow to the surface world?[/MentalMode] She decides to inflitrate them - to find out from the ground. With Still and Silent spells - she casts. The room dims for a moment - and there is an eruption of cerulean flames in the centre of the room. They coalesce - and take shape as a dark-skinned being - no hands, just stumps - no eyes, no ears or nose. Merely a mouth set in a featureless smooth-skinned head. He approaches the Flame Dancer - and says "Incenjucar - well met. I am Omega." |
| kliate04-18-04, 12:03 AM | Kliate looks up from the contract "Hmm - I always wondered what was wrong with those particular softskins, the surface elves." To Graz'zt "Still, I've yet to see any particular clause in all this contract jargon that spells out the specific individual or group I'm supposed to go after, or when I receive my pay. That probably has something to do with all those blood-red shapey-things on the parchment. On your word, Dark One, what's in it for me should I pledge my service and risk death at your whim?" |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow04-18-04, 02:06 AM | To kliate "What? You don't speak Abyssal? Allow me to translate for you. This is a contract for the death of four Primes who have wronged me. They stole someone from me, a guest who was negotiating the cost of room and board in Azzagrat during something called the 'Time of Troubles.' My guest, one Waukeen the Golden, decided to skip out on the bill by having her cronies send a team to 'rescue' her. In the process, these four adventurers killed a number of my staff, stole a number of slaves from my pens (including a paladin), upset my viper tree grove, threatened my town crier, and stole a number of weapons from me." "This last part, however, was quite fortunate, since some of the weapons in question (six Abyss-forged weapons that used to belong to a marilith lieutenant of mine) are enchanted as to be easily found by myself. Should you accept this job (and don't count on living long once you leave the safety of this little establishment should you refuse), this will help you to locate the weapons, and hopefully, the primes who have wronged me. The Lord of Shadow reaches into his cloak and pulls out what appears to be a compass. The needle is in the familiar 'arrow impaling an infinity' symbol of the Abyss. "As for payment, well, I can be very generous to those who do not disappoint me. In fact, I can afford to pay a lich for nothing else but to stand in front of one of my estates holding two white roses. Granted, the lich's salary dropped when I located its phalactery, but that's to be expected. So, my dear, scaly friend the next question is, to borrow a phrase from the 'loths, 'What do you want?'" |
| Incenjucar04-18-04, 04:21 AM | The fire polar flashes the scantly-featured being a glowing red grin, tiny flames leaking from his teeth before he snuffs them out with speach, bowing broadly as he does so, a trail of tiny motes of golden light following his wake for the action. "And greetings to you, flesh. I would introduce myself... but it would seem my reputation has preceded me. I suppose I really should wear a guise the next time I perform for the eladrin or the Sensates... but no matter. What words might you have for me beyond... cordiality?" The quasielemental exemplar lifts his coal-black brow at the reptilian, and smirks as he shakes his head, lifting an white ash-coated finger, contrasted heavily by his fingerless black leather gloves. "The same thing that is wrong with all elves, and most sylvan beings. Not enough fat. Bad for the mind of fleshy creatures, and it makes them nigh-useless fuel." |
| kliate04-18-04, 09:14 AM | Kliate nods upon hearing the terms from Graz'zt "It sounds like you've been in the business for a while. Few of my employers have had the nerve to assert themselves when hiring me, hoping that I might get killed or something after we do most of the work. You, on the other hand seem to have a warrior's heart and a political mind - which would make you a formidable foe. That said, I assume that your compass has some use in tracking these weapons you speak of - but if they are the adventuresome type I've met, they may have had the cunning to scan the weapons and sell them off. Is it possible to see them as they carry the weapons, or am I simply picking up the scent of what could be the wrong trail? Not that I'd mind of course - cunning prey make for exciting chases." |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow04-18-04, 04:05 PM | "I wouldn't place too much stock on the cunning of a Prime, present company excluded naturally. I can sense more information from the weapons than merely their location, but the data received from the blades may prove...unhealthy...for one such as you. Hence, the compass. All I can - nay, all I *will* tell you, is that the offending party, which still holds possession of the weapons dwells in the crystal sphere of Abeir-Toril, and if you need any further proof of the foolishness of the Clueless, take a look at how they see the infinite wonder of the planes." Graz'zt reaches into his cloak and pulls out a scroll. On the scroll is a diagram of the planes, not unsimilar to the one in the FRCS. "Now, thus far I have been very open about my intentions and my plans. I think it is time you demonstrate both your commitment to this operation and your prowess with steel." The Prince of Shadow barks an order to his vrock-in-waiting in Abyssal. The vulture demon flies back to the black carriage in a shower of molting, stinking feathers. From inside the carriage, the vrock pulls out a long spear, covered in barbs and dried blood. Graz'zt gives Kliate an evil grin and sits in a chair forming around him from wisps of shadow solidifying. "In a few moments we will either be discussing payment or paying the Dustmen a visit. That is, if there's anything left of you for the Dead to dispose of." The Ebon Lord looks around the room at the #1 best arcanaloth's rather...quaint interior design. "I'd say don't get blood on anything, but I can't imagine anybody caring too much about these...trinkets." |
| user name04-18-04, 04:34 PM | the creature turns toward the battle between the vrock and the lizardman. This ought to be interesting. Mayhaps I shall make it even more interesting? the creature focuses and the vrock begins to twist and bend as it transforms into a pseudonatural vrock. |
| Silmarien Aldalome04-18-04, 07:28 PM | "The same thing that is wrong with all elves, and most sylvan beings. Not enough fat. Bad for the mind of fleshy creatures, and it makes them nigh-useless fuel." To Incenjucar: You're not sure what the sound exactly is - but if you could guess - the low grade gurgling sound coming from Omega's featureless face is a chuckle. "Elven flesh - hmpf - yesss - very bony - it burns not well as you speak." his tones are almost a whisper - and the "s"s are almost hissed. Hearing the commotion between Vrock and the Lizardmen, Omega tilts his head slightly. Noting also kilate and Grazz't - he positions himself so that he can absorb what's going on. Turning back to Incenjucar ..... "beyond cordiality.....yes - your reputation does precede you - and I would understand what" he emphasises as he turns to the Drow "...a Drow is doing in the surface world". But - Inecnjucar - I will be frank with you - I seek weapons |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-18-04, 08:21 PM | Nordom turns to fluffy "Warning! Warning! Inadvisable! Said vrock is an entourage of abyssal Lord Graz'zt! There is a 100% chance of immediate and instant death if you alter said vrock any further!" The rogue immediately places distance between itself and the far realm creature and turns its attention to Sarig "Query: What is the connection between genies and dragons? Sub-query: Would you like to hear Nordom's current information on other inner planar denizens?" |
| user name04-18-04, 09:07 PM | the creature is distracted by nordom and loses it's concentration. hmm I suppose I should not anger an important figure in this reality, it might have rather bad results. However the transformation cannot be stopped once it is started and I am merely improving it anyways. |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-18-04, 09:16 PM | Nordom turns back to Fluffy "Processing.......there is a slight chance Graz'zt will not attempt to destroy you as he is a chaotic being. The chance is hardly assured however. Processing.....Suggestion:Explain to Lord Graz'zt the Vrock's 'improvements' to maximize chances of said lord's approval. Further suggestion: Do not 'improve' any other beings in this reality. Such attempted alterations have more of a chance of being met with resistance rather than acceptance." |
| AlexBurel04-18-04, 09:20 PM | A sudden blitz of energy erupts in a nearby corner. A shape, similar to a portal suddenly appear and begins to stretch inwards and outwards. A faint cry can be heard sounding as if someone was screaming urgently "Get away, Hypos is moving- Noooo!" and then silence. The light shifts colors and begins to form a human-shaped outline. Colors begin to form on the shape until the image is unmistakeibly the form of a human about 16 years of age but with one subtle difference- he is obviously incorpreal as his leg is intersecting the nearby chair. He seems to stumble for a moment and then looks around, trying to get his bearings. "Let me see, tavern setting huge collection of beings, what the-...." Lurching to a window he sticks his head through and moves it around. Then stumbles back and clutches his head, obviously confused. "Good lord, how did I wind up in sigil- theres no way this has got to be...." He pinches his shoulder, obviously hard because he winces. Then he does it several more times before eventually shaking his head and giving his surroundings another look. "I still can't believe it, you can't get into Sigil except with a portal-not even as a dreamform. Except that I did...." He eventually turns to the various beings gathered around the room, giving a long thought to what he is going to say. "Hello, I am Alexander Falk Burel-or rather the dreamform of myself as crazy as that sounds. I come from a magicless-hightech world in the center of the 50-billion lightyear long crystal sphere known as truespace. The wizad Elimister has been giving information about the multiverse to a group of people so that they might publish it in the guise of a "roleplaying game" as crazy as that sounds which is how I know about this place.... I was in the middle of a extreamly lucid dream when I came across a THING for lack of a better word which somehow threw me around here. Perhaps a chain reaction injected me out into the etheral where I collided with some kind of portal or something. I think I've got to sit down...." Alex sits down, somehow gaining substance in order to do so, then begins to watch the unfolding debates. |
| user name04-18-04, 09:36 PM | the creature laughs. You underestimate me nordom. I assure you that I can hold my own in a fight. I may be limited here but I still have most of my power. the creature focuses again and an odd looking globe of energy forms and begins to float around him. |
| kliate04-18-04, 09:39 PM | The lizard stands, sword still mounted on his back. "My friend, you may rest if you wish. I can handle this...thing." Kliate assumes a defensive stance, gesturing for the Vrock to take its best shot while it still has a chance |
| Dr. Grim04-18-04, 10:59 PM | The drow turns to Omega "What am I doing on the surface world? Well, I can't give too much away........ information IS a form of currency in this city, is it not? Let's just say that, well... I needed a portal to escape a..... sticky situation... and now I'm here. And now that I am here, I wish to exploit certain... opportunities not available on the Prime...." "Now, what type of creature may you be? Since I usually wish to have knowledge of the beings that I interact with." |
| Murr-Quan Lord #204-18-04, 11:06 PM | The black, fluffy cat sitting on the Aasimar's shoulder gives Alex a really weird look. Cats are like that somehow. |
| Ogre4Hire04-18-04, 11:07 PM | Now then, Drow, I'm glad you mentioned that part about the lack of ethics, or whatever, because I hate working for squimish employers. It gets annoying. Noticing the start of a fight, the big ogre turns and draws a sword from its skabbard on his back. The blade is more than eight feet in length, and anyone who can read Giant will recognize the runes for Blood and Thunder enscribed on it. Is this a private party, or can anyone join? He shifts into a fighting stance, muscles tense and ready. And by the way, the name's Gorris. |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-18-04, 11:13 PM | Nordom's head spins around at top speed and faces Ogre4Hire. Its pupils expand until its eyes are almost completely black, and, proclaiming in a loud, high pitched voice, yells out... "OGRES?! HEY I GOT A OGRE SLAYING KNIFE!! IT DOES A +12 AGAINST OGRES!!!!" Nordom shudders and its pupils shrink back to normal, and the rogue looks at everyone in the casino with a confused look on its face. "Processing.....apologies. Attempting to locate error in Nordom's memory......searching......error located. A glitch is in Nordom's behavioral sub-routines. Rewriting sub-routines.......sub-routines rewritten. Further outbursts will not occur." |

"Now, what type of creature may you be? Since I usually wish to have knowledge of the beings that I interact with." Well spoken - as is a Drow's wont. Omega says in smooth tones. ....do you purchase currency in secrets? For I have many also. But - I can only help you if you tell me what you need. Omega's featureless face reveals nothing as his mouth moves. ...I am.... Omega struggles for a moment ....Energy. He looks at the whirring machine pumping out "warnings" - and merely stands still. |
| Incenjucar04-19-04, 12:46 AM | The polar's face distorts for a moment, in irritated reaction to the sudden outburst of violence. His pristine, ash-softened face tears at his lips, his lips distorting and merging with his lengthening fangs, contrasted with the utter darkness of his maw as he hisses his annoyance. Shaking his head sharply, it returns to its humanoid state, as a thin aura of blue-black flame erupts around him for a foot, producing no heat, but providing him with a barrier from splattered ichor nonetheless. Regaining his composure, he looks back to Omega, tilting his head slightly, whisps of true flame flowling lightly across his smirk. "Truth be told, flesh... I am a bard and sage before all else. Nor is my ilk in need of weapons, so much as augmentations... though many of those polars formed of Earth have been known to forge their works with the help of my sort. What, exactly, had ye in mind? Dust of the glowing dunes? Blades of Empty Winter? Perhaps Bolts of the Sparkling Vast?" |
| Shemeska the Marauder04-19-04, 02:47 AM | The Marauder quietly slips back into the main room and takes a seat near the others, though making certain to select a table of her own. Her ubiquitous tiefling cronies do their abject best to clean the table, provide her with a cushion for her chair, and quickly place a glass of wine in her hand and a meal before her. After letting herself be waited upon hand and foot she smiles and looks at the others in the room, paying particular attention to the lizardman and the two elves. About half the time she spends looking and listening with vague interest, the other half of the time she glances into the mirror held by one particular tiefling. Though it appears to most that she's simply overly particular about her appearance and vain to the extreme, the fiend is in fact looking at the others in the room as reflected in the mirror, and then having a look of concentration and rapt attention in her eyes She first turns to the Lizardman "You wouldn't want to sign a contract with a Tanar'ri before reading the fine print now would you? Perhaps I could offer my services as a mediator of the contract, that's what my kind does so often you see. The other fiends trust us in this regard to manip... mediate between their two species without bias to one side or the other." Somehow the Arcanaloth seems to be ignoring the fact that Grazzt seems to have managed, or more likely, been allowed, to project an avatar of sorts inside of Sigil. The Lady seems to be particularly whimsical lately... |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow04-19-04, 05:35 AM | The vrock stunned by its new and disturbing appearance and looks to its master for assistance. The Lord of the Triple-Realm smiles cruelly and turns to...Fluffy. "Many thanks for this gift, my dear blob. However, such a rare and unique specimen should be preserved and studied, not wasted in a senseless display of violence. Not that there's anything wrong with senseless displays of violence, of course." Graz'zt turns back to the vrock, which is busy gnawing on one of the tentacles sprouting from its body as a result of Fluffy's alterations. The vrock screeches and begins to shrink under the Ebon Prince's withering glare. Finally, as it reaches a height not more than six inches, the Abyssal Lord snatches the tanar'ri up and puts him in a small glass bottle. The bottle is sealed and tossed to one of the armanites, who places it inside the carriage. As this is occuring, the Prince of Shadows reaches out with his mind and speaks directly to Gorris, the ogre4hire. "So, Mr. Gorris, interested in a bit of 'the rough and tumble?' Interested in procuring employment? Well, you have some competition in our scaly acquaintance. One job, two candidates...I trust I don't have to make myself clearer than that, do I?" Suddenly, the six-fingered lord turns to Shemeska, whom he knows has been eavesdropping in on his telepathic conversation. Out loud he inquires: "That is, if it is acceptable with our gracious and friendly host." Graz'zt grins evilly as he drives the insult further. "My apologies for that 'friendly' remark. You're the other one aren't you? I swear, I can't tell one of you fuzz heads from the other." |
| Incenjucar04-19-04, 06:47 AM | The chill-enshrouded polar shakes his head at the scene, leaning back against the wall, arms crossed behind his head, and ashen skin leaving a faint impression of soot on the wallpaper. "Leave it to flesh to kill one being rather than send two to do their bidding. Tis no small wonder that we've sold more to the Baatezu, and almost half as much to the piddling numbers of Apomp's children, as to the wretches of the Abyss. Some simply have a better sense for costs and benefits. Perhaps you're simply stuck counting with twelves, and thus cannot handle the differences..." The cheeky polar stretches a hand out before him, his hand turning black as it is wholly made ashen, fingers growing in slow succession, in a circle, until twelve digits spread out from his palm, a smirk glows on his face, and violet flame erupt to dance on his eyes. With a flick of his hair, which fills the air with a light cloud of ash, he reverts again to his more usual form, glancing over towards Shemeska for a moment, offering her a fanged grin before returning his gaze to the fiendish avatar. "If thine eyes are as discerning as a succubus's, as twould seem, I can vouch, personally, that she bears no resemblence to he whom is not welcome in her presence. ...Especially since there's yet a spot or two where she has forgotten the proper wards against scrying..." |
| Sarig the Genie04-19-04, 12:16 PM | Sarig turned to Nordom and was about to answer his question when he was was aborted by a telepathic message. He turned to the group and bowed, before he said; "My apoligies, I have to leave for a short time." With that, he walked out the door and hopped backwards through a nearby portal. |
| kliate04-19-04, 01:44 PM | To Graz'zt "Good sir, I have met and dealt with creatures like you before - those who keep changing elements of the agreement on their whim, use small-print cross-references to document groups which allow you to alter the very heart of the agreement, and most despised of all - withholding of payment by exploiting a loophole. If you insist upon changing the nature of any agreement so quickly, then the softskinned giant can HAVE the contract. Too many creatures, particularly the humans I despise, seem to think that they own the very soul of a creature just because of a few ink scratches on a parchment saying it will do some work for fair payment. If you're prepared to state on your word that the terms of the contract go no further than the hunting of these humans with the aid of your compass-device, and the negotiated payment as soon as they are dealt with in form of capture or carcass, then bring out one of those bird-things and let your little test begin." To Gorris "Now if you DO feel like having at it, Spy is always interested in some practice." |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow04-19-04, 02:41 PM | The Dark Prince pauses, stunned speechless by Kliate's outburst. Slowly, he rises from his shadow throne and slowly begins to clap. "Well done. It's very refreshing to have someone speak without fear to the likes of me. Very well, the job is yours, assuming your presumptuousness does not carry over into salary negotiations." "Oh and believe me, if I owned your very soul, you'd know it." To Incenjucar: "I am obviously well aware of the identity and status of our overly-gracious host. And I assure you, there are no spots that I haven't 'scryed' before." "On either of them." |
| Dr. Grim04-19-04, 06:56 PM | The drow nods his head slightly towards Ogre4Hire "Well met, Gorris. I do believe I shall find use for you...... oh, pardon my manners. I meant to say, I believe we shall forge a fruitful...... partnership. :smirk: " He turns back to Omega "What do I need? Well, I suppose I could say that I want the same things all practicioners of the mystic arts want, deep down inside. Knowledge, power...... wealth.... all the things that comfort the souls of those who live a pitiful, limited existance upon the globes of the Prime Material, before passing away into servitude and torment at the hands of creatures like those." At this point the drow gives a slight glance toward our friends Graz'zt and Shemeska the Marauder, indicating them as the "creatures" he was talking about earlier "What I need, though........ I shall answer your question with an analogy..... have you ever felt the desire to dig into an anthill, to see the eggs, the queen, and the chambers of the hive itself, a desire made even stronger because these things are meant to be hidden from your sight? Extrapolate that to the grandest cosmic scale imaginable, and you shall have some idea of what I need." You notice a somewhat feverish, unwholesome look come upon the drow's face, as he imagines extracting all the secrets from the multiverse that the dieties themselves wished to have hidden.....secrets that would forever damage the minds of lesser creatures such as elves and humans.......... |
| user name04-19-04, 07:03 PM | The creature gives a confused look at the fire polar. For a creature of the elements you seem to show an awfull lot of lust towards a being of belief. It is my limited understanding that beings of raw elements generally don't feel lust though. |
| kliate04-19-04, 07:06 PM | Continuing to parlay with Graz'zt "That's more like it. Clearly these are not the weak sort of humans that I have faced many times in the past, seeing as they have escaped one as cunning as yourself. As payment, I would seek a few minor goods. First, I'll have the hide of the one I choose crafted into a soft-leathered bag of holding - a trophy of the hunt, of course. Secondly - besides the weapons which you have rightful claim to - any items or goods on their possession shall become mine. The bodies, living or otherwise, will be yours to dispose of, excluding the aforementioned trophy claim. Finally, my fee for this operation will be in the order of seventy-seven platinums plus expenses. Do you find this acceptable?" [Edit: spelling] |
| user name04-19-04, 07:14 PM | the creature turns to look at the drow. Some secrets are better left unknown, some doors are better left unopened. If you truly wish to gain knowledge I can grant you a glimpse, although it is my understanding that it tends to drive creatures of your reality insane. |
| Gnoll Druid04-19-04, 07:15 PM | A knock is heard at the entrance and as the door slowly opens it reveals a rather unusual figure or least thought to be so by himself. Though by the looks of this room, it is obvious there are far more unusual things out there and in this room alone. Before you stands a gnoll; one whose flesh has mostly decayed, but still remains none the less. He wears a red vest coupled with a deep azure blue undershirt and plain, black pants. Following enthusiastically behind him is what looks to be a large, skeletal dog. The gnoll enters and bows, giving his greetings. “I do hope my companion and I are not to late to join you all, I apologize for being as late as I was to come, some unexpected circumstances came about. My name is Rrodek and my companion here in known as Fluffy. Or at least he used to be… *smirks*” Rrodek pulls up a chair at one of the tables and motions with his quarterstaff for Fluffy to lay at his side as he begins to carefully observe all that is going on in the room. |
| user name04-19-04, 07:22 PM | The creature turns towards the gnoll. I have been defined with the name Fluffy therfore I must request that either my name or that skeleton's name must redefined or things might get rather confusing. |
| Ogre4Hire04-19-04, 07:37 PM | The ogre sighs and slides his sword back into its skabbard. Oh, well. To Graz'zt, but loudly enough for Dr. Grim to easily overhear. You know, I hired out to one of your worshippers on the Prime once. He thought it would be funny to use me to lure the heroes in and drop a fireball on me. He fishes in his belt for a moment, then produces a human jawbone. This was the biggest piece I could find after I was done letting him know what I thought about that idea. Sorry, but I'm won't be taking any contract from you. Oh, and you said you had some problems on Toril? No surprise there. That place has heroes like ugly on a Barbazu. I should know, it's where I'm from. There's this dwarf loving Drow Ranger in particular. I saw him once, from a distance. Looks like he'd come out second best in a fight with a bugbear, but last I'd heard, he'd somehow managed to kill a Balor one on one. And then there are those Harpers. He gives an irritated snort. There are places in Faerun where a Hill Giant couldn't throw a boulder without hitting at least four of them. Another snort. I like Sigil a lot better. [Editted for ease of reading] |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-19-04, 07:58 PM | Nordom addresses Fluffy It is not Nordom's intent to cause confusion. Processing.....You shall be renamed.....Cthulu." Nordom turns its attention to Gorris Nordom is aware of Toril. Plane: Prime Material. Planet: Abeir-Toril. Main Continent: Faerun. Traits: Powers are single sphere powers and devote time and energy disproportionately to world than other prime worlds. Example: Local Goddess of Magic has endowed far too many mortals with proxy like power, and has even taken mortal lovers. Reasons: Unknown. Theorum: Single sphere deities, being insignificant in the scheme of the multiverse, wish to spread the belief that said powers are all powerful. False. Lie. Untrue. MUNCHKIN FANTASIES!!!!!....errrorr....Apologies. Query, Gorris: How did you arrive in Sigil? Sub-query: How long have you been here?" |
| Gnoll Druid04-19-04, 08:06 PM | Rrodek turns to the blob.. "I apolgize, sir. Or shall I say... Fluffy? That is what I have called my companion since they day I originally aquired him. Wouldn't hurt to call him something else, I suppose I will now call my pet... Bandit. Not original I guess, but we wouldn't want any unnecessary confusion in the room beyond anything that would already happen, now would we?" |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-19-04, 08:12 PM | The rogue turns to the far realmer and the gnoll "Nordom has already renamed Fluffy Cthulu. Renaming your companion is unnecessary. However, Nordom will not presume to know the far realmer's will. Query: What would Fluffy/Cthulu like to be called?" Nordom address the Gnoll "Greetings, Rrodek. I am Nordom. Query: What brings you here?" The modron smiles awkwardly and you realize it's attempting politeness, but not quite pulling it off. |
| Dr. Grim04-19-04, 08:28 PM | Turns to Ogre4Hire "Do not worry, my over-sized friend..... I won't be using you as bait. Although the idea is rather amusing......" At this the drow chuckles to himself for at least fifteen minutes, all while muttering to himself about matters best left unheard by sane persons..... "About the furor back on Oearth..... I very much doubt the creatures following me will find me here, and even if they do, I can only assume that they will have so many bigger fish to fry that I will simply fade into the background....." Again indicating the Prince of Shadows and the King of the Cross-trade "But in any case, I will most likely out-live the people who put the bounty on my head in the first place... the advantages of being a member of the elven race, you see ... no, my friend, I would like to hire you on for a different mission. Although I'm not sure you could handle it... for you see, I wish to acquire certain.... manuscripts not found on the Prime, one of which includes the Tome of the Dread Targul'Qyaxa....... no, that's not its exact name.... you'll have to forgive me, for my Abyssal is rather rusty..... anyway, a list of manuscripts...." Hands Ogre4Hire a list of the names of certain forbidden, unspeakable tomes "The catch, of course, is that these tomes can only be found in Demogorgan's library, located in Abysm.... not surprising, for I'm sure Demogorgan penned some of them itself. For, while I do not doubt your skill in combat, it will also take a fair amount of.... stealth ... not to mention magical knowledge... to pull off a successful raid in such a great being's own home." To the pseudonatural creature known as Fluffy "What a fascinating creature..... you underestimate me, oh being from the Great Beyond... for I have read and seen things that have shattered the minds of lesser creatures... and come out unscathed... although I am sure that I have incurred the wrath of creatures jealous of my ability to know the darkest secrets of the Multiverse......." At this, Dr. Grim descends into angery muttering directed towards his enemies, both real and imagined..... |
| user name04-19-04, 08:31 PM | the creature shrugs. I might as well attempt to pronounce my name I suppose. Yyzaquinmechtoaweemzadafek is my name and I believe Cthulu is already taken by a rather popular resident of my reality, it's a rather nice name though. |
| Gnoll Druid04-19-04, 08:35 PM | Rrodek laughs to himself.. "All the better if my pet's name remains the same. Though Fluffy/Cthulu or whatever he'd like to be called was here first, so I shall leave that choice up to him. "And greetings to you as well, nordom. What brings me here you ask? Well... I happened upon here in my travels about the planes and as of late, the outlands. "I search for knowledge of the many places that are out there and I had no doubt heard of sigil at one point in my studies so I decided to finally see things for myself. I've been here barely a week now and am still learning my way around. "I know not how it happened, but I found a piece of paper in a book of mine directing me to come here. Now I am curious to know the same... why are you here?" |
| Ogre4Hire04-19-04, 08:36 PM | He turns to Nordom, putting the jawbone back in his pouch as he does so. I agree with that part about that goddess. At least, I think I do. Not sure I understand everything, though. He clears his throat. Well, I got here a few years back. I'd hired out to some group of bandits or other, I don't remember who, and we attacked a group of heroes that we thought would be an easy mark. Well, it turns out we were wrong, because the first thing that happened was that the elf I was going for hit me full in the face with a Prismatic Spray. So there's this sudden flash of light, and next thing I know, I'm in the middle of this dry, dusty plane and my head was pounding like I'd just had a three day bender. I was in the Outlands just outside of Curst, except it wasn't there. Suddenly, however, the whole damn town just falls down right next to me from out of thin air. Scariest damn thing I've ever seen. After a while, I decided I might as well try walking into town. The residents were even more shook up than I was, so nobody tried anything. Then I walked through this archway, and landed smack dab in the middle of the hive, just outside the Mortuary. Been living in Sigil since then, though I occationally travel outside when someone hires me for a job. |
| Ogre4Hire04-19-04, 09:00 PM | To Dr. Grim Let me get this straight: you want me to break into Demogorgon's library and steal books from him? At this point, the big ogre launches into an ear-blistering speculation about Dr. Grim's mother, father, siblings, close friends, home town, and personal habits in Giant, Orc, Goblin, and a smattering of Abyssal. He goes on for almost three whole minutes and neither repeats himself nor pauses for breath the entire time. By the time he is done, some of the furniture needs repainting. He is panting now. (OOC: Perform [Swearing] Natural 20 :D) |
| AlexBurel04-19-04, 10:30 PM | Alex looks up from his seat and glances at Fluffy. He begins to chuckle, then bursts out laughing . After a moment he quiets down. Man, I should've guessed. Sorry about that...Fluffy? I didn't think anyone ELSE would be dragged in from my dream. If you need to get back to the Far Realms I can give you directions to a gate known as "Liechester's Gap" in the Etheral. I also picked up some interesting items while in the dreamlands... Alex puts his hand in his coat pocket and fumbles around for a moment. He pulls out what appears to be a giant book-far to big to be hidden within- titled simply "Necronomicon" Like it? I should warn you though, it has the annoying tendency to drive the reader mad. Oh, and dont try to cast any spells or the Lady might flay you-they tend to summon gods. By the way Nordom, I'm curious, do you know what happened to your companions after the nameless one ressurected you and took you back to Sigil? I'd like to speak with them... Now that I think of it, how did he get you back to Sigil, I mean, your not supposed to get in without a portal. Not that I should talk... |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-19-04, 10:37 PM | Nordom simply stares into space, and you can hear *clicks* and *whirs* in his 'head' as if its brain was a conglomerate of gears. Suddenly, it turns to the far realmer. "Processing. Memory banks updated. Nordom will now refer to you as Yyzaquinmechtoaweemzadafek, Yyzaquinmechtoaweemzadafek, if you so wish. As you can hear, your name falls within acceptable vocal parameters." Nordom stops, and focuses its attention on the Gnoll "Query processed. Nordom is here to practice social interactions with various species. Nordom has yet to master such concepts, and desires to do so. Processing....book.....an object used to store information. Apologies. Nordom does not possess knowledge of why Designation: Rrodek was summoned here. Warning: If designation Rrodek is in need of a guide, or 'tout', do not ask Shemeska for services. There is a 97.89% chance Shemeska will use opportunity to manipulate other plans she may and probably does have. Suggestion: Nordom can guide you if required. Nordom has seen every ward in the city and possesses detailed files on said wards. It also provides Nordom with another opportunity for social interaction." The rogue quietly waits for the Ogre's ranting to stop. "Increase in vocal parameters indicates anger. Reason: Cannot say with certainty. However, there is a 99.99% chance said anger occured due to request for books located in the libray of Demogorgon. Processing.....Demogorgon:Thought to be oldest and greatest of abyssal lords. Anger is understandable. Processing....." Nordom's eyes slowly begin to dialate, and it begins to shake... "Processed. Nordom was partly responisble for said actions involving Curst. Nordom was ordered by superior to help stop Designation: Trias from launching an attack on Mount Celestia using fiends from Carceri. Query: For what jobs are you qualifed? Nordom may have need of services and is willing to discuss details if Designation: Gorris so desires." |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-19-04, 10:45 PM | Nordom turns to look at Alex with a curious look. "Processing. Does not compute. Further information required. Query: How did Designation: Alex gain information about Nordom's superior?" |
| user name04-19-04, 10:55 PM | the creature looks at the book for a moment then hands it to the drow. I think you would personally like this book more, I happen to know quite a few of those entitys the books says how to summon. However the author seemed to get a good portion of the information wrong, most likely due to going insane. the creature turns towards alex. Hmmm I think I know where you're from, earth is the name of your planet? It is a rather dreary place, no magic at all. Though the humans of that planet seem to have adapted quite well using technology. the creature focuses and a grenade, microwave, and a radio appear on a nearby table. such as those items over here. One will explode a few seconds after you pull the pin out of it, the other will cook things, and the third will recieve radio waves that will play music and various other things. |
| AlexBurel04-19-04, 11:01 PM | Alex pauses for a moment, considering how best to answer the question. Well, aside from the fact that there aren't very many immortal amnesiacs, even in Sigil there are two main ways I learned about him. First, I recently happened across Annah and Dakkon's dreamforms in another dreamscape and we had a long conversation. Secondly, as the multiverse is infinite, there are places where, even though the people themselves have not met the beings they write about, the beings exist in other planes regardless. Put simply, the write about things they have not heard of before. My home has quiet a few of these instances, including one in which others wrote tales about the nameless one's story despite the fact they have never seen you, him, or any of your companions before. I learned a lot of detail about his last "incarnation" in both a book, and a special three-dimentional model of his story played by another device. Basically a graphic version of a book. |
| Dr. Grim04-20-04, 01:37 AM | Dr. Grim raises an eyebrow to the Ogre in a quizzical fashion. After waiting out all the swearing and insults, the drow merely gives a smirk. "I take it that's a no, then?" Takes the Necronomicon from the pseudonatural creature.... "Why, thank you. I do believe this will help me on my road to knowledge." Reads with interest |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-20-04, 10:20 AM | Nordom continues to converse with Alex Processing.....memory updated. Query processed. Nordom's superior told Nordom that he and Nordom would meet again one day on another plane. Nordom is currently searching for Nordom's superior with help from Designation: Fall From Grace to make said day arrive in as little time as possible. Nordom is currently looking for travelers to assist Nordom in locating Nordom's superior. In the meantime, Nordom is practicing social interactions with other beings to learn more about indivisibility......error.....individual ity. Nordom's eyes dialate, and then continues speaking. "Query processed. Why Nordom's superior was able to transport Nordom and Nordom's companions is unknown. Processing..... Theorum: Laws of the multiverse state a being travels to the outer plane matching its alignment or the realm of the power it worshipped in life upon death. Laws also state a being can enter Sigil only through portals.....prcoessing.....perhaps Nordom's superior was exempt from said laws moments before the multiverse sent Nordom's superior to the Grey Waste, much as Nordom's superior was exempt from death. Laws did not apply. Processing.....probability of accuracy....unknown. Further data required. Query: Do you have further data pertaining to said theorum?" |
| Ogre4Hire04-20-04, 01:57 PM | To Nordom, with some newfound respect. So you were involved with that. Well, I have to say that I'm impressed that you managed to take out a Planetar. I heard more about what happened with Curst after I got to Sigil. Didn't realize you were involved with it, thought. Now, to answer your question about what my skills are. Well, I'm absolute vicious with my sword, I've got a nasty one-two punch, and I'm not a bad shot with a throwing axe, either. In other words, I'm really, really good at hurting things. What did you need done? |
| AlexBurel04-20-04, 02:58 PM | Alex scratches his head, then pulls out a black device roughly in the shape of a box. He pulls the top opens, causing it to seperate into two connected pieces. After a few minutes of tapping buttons, he nods. Yes, while the storybook ends almost immediantly after he ports you back to sigil, there is a short clip in which he is sent to Oinos, the first layer of the waste. It appears that he was first sent to what appears to be a giant blood war battleground. Oddly, he was sent in his own form rather than that of a larvea-likely because of his immense power. The lighting is not so good however, and all I can make out is what appears to be a giant tower in the distance. At a guess I'd say it is one of the giant monoliths that "suck" life force, or, less likely, the wasting tower Khin Oin. I highly doubt he is still there but no information is givin after that. I'm sorry if its not much help. |
| Ogre4Hire04-20-04, 03:30 PM | The ogre squints down at the strange human, trying to figure him out. He doesn't look, act, or dress like any other human the ogre has ever met. Am I the only one in this room who thinks that this Alex human is seriously :looloo:? |
| kliate04-20-04, 04:45 PM | Quickly turning away from negotiations, to the Gorris the Ogre "I make a habit of trying not to ponder too deeply the thoughts and actions of humans - the ones that called themselves my 'masters' during childhood left enough of a taint on my past. All I need to know is how to hurt them most, be it psychologically, physically or some combination of the two. As for this one..." Kliate lets out a loud hiss "Friend has been begging me for a chance to taste his blood, but it's better business if I wait for him to annoy somebody enough to get paid for such a pleasure." |
| Gnoll Druid04-20-04, 04:51 PM | Glances to Ogre4Hire. "No, you are not the only one in this room who thinks that of this Alex human." Turns back to Nordom "While the offer is appreciated, I am not in need a guide though now that I think about it, I wouldn't mind a tour around sigil if you're up to that. "And about finding your superior Nodrom, I would be willing to join you and perhaps the Orge(Gorris, is it?) if he decides to do so on your journey to find him. This sounds of something that would be of interest to me and well, I haven't had any traveling companions in the past years so it would be a nice turn of events. "I'm sure you're going to ask, so I'll just tell you now. What do I have to offer... what are my skills? Well, needless to say, should the ogre choose to join you I can make him "really, really hurt things" as he put it, better then he already can. Not to say that I don't have my own offensive spells, but that is what I specialize in. That and when we leave sigil, I can provide plenty of transportation to wherever it is we need to go." |
| Mithral Icesilver04-20-04, 06:13 PM | For the first time in a long while, Mithral looks up. He glances about at the new arrivals and mutters ... Lessee, we have a human from earth who apparently got here while dreaming and was pulled in by Fluffy ... er ... Cthulu ... er ... What did you say your name was? Yyzaquinmechtoaweemzadafek? We have a gnoll, who appears to be a blighter, his animal companion, a dog skeleton; and Fluffy appears to have transformed one of Graz'zt's vrocks into a pseudonatural version of itself. Oh, and the Marauder is back and has brought her enturage. Oh, where'd the ... Air ... thing ... Sarig go? He goes back to his book, remembers something, then looks up and blinks in a slightly bemused manner at the cat on his shoulder. Hello there. Didn't notice you. Mithral goes back to his book. Spearmint pokes his head out of his pocket and looks around, staring pointedly at Alex, the only human in the room. He then hops out and spots the cat on Mithral's shoulder. Spearmint tugs on Mithral's sleeve. After what appears to be a short, telepathic conversation, Mithral makes a few motions and mutters something under his breath. Spearmint then hops onto the chair and says ... Mrrrrrrow? Apparently, Spearmint now speaks cat. After a short discourse, the gist of which seems to be that the cat is in Spearmint's spot, he decides that he'll go investigate the outside. After an interval, Mithral looks up. Fluffy, have you heard of the Quasielemental Plane of Bread? It's a confluence between Positive Energy, Earth, the Far Realm, and, oddly enough, some spillover from a prime portal near one from Mechanus. Apparently, the Far Realm, Earth, and the Mechanus spillover create the Elemental Plane of Wheat. I believe where Wheat touches Negative, the Quasielemental Plane of Flour is formed. |
| user name04-20-04, 06:31 PM | the creature turns towards Mithral. That's odd, seems like there have been alot of far realm leaks lately. We would prefer that you reality stays the way it is without our influence. We have been studying your reality for a while now. the creature turns toward nordom. Hmmm looking for an old friend who vanished? Sounds rather interesting, I'd be glad to join you if you wouldn't mind. the creature leans against the wall and quietly sings a song that seems to use every language ever made. (including druidic and the words of creation and their evil counterparts whose name I cannot remember right now) |
| user name04-20-04, 06:31 PM | Ack double post |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-20-04, 07:44 PM | Nordom converses with its gear spirit companions before addressing Gorris, Yyzaquinmechtoaweemzadafek, and Rrodek. "Information processed. Designation: Gorris, Nordom is in need of individuals who are skilled in the ways of combat.....processing.... individuals who can.....'hurt things'....but only if necessary. Nordom would never wish harm to beings simply for its own purpose. Please be advised: Nordom plans to join..... friend ....companion.... Designation: Fall From Grace into the Gray Waste in an attempt to locate Nordom's superior.....Nordom's friend. If this is unacceptable, Nordom will take no offense or give no offense." Nordom turns to the Gnoll "Information processed. Would Designation: Rrodrek be interested in assisstance? Current information available to Nordom indicates Fall From Grace will give economic compensation... processing....."jink" in return for services rendered." Nordom turns to Yyzaq.....err....the Far Realmer "Nordom cannot compensate Yyzaquinmechtoaweemzadafek. Desires of Yyzaquinmechtoaweemzadafek are unknown. Processing.....Query: Would Yyzaquinmechtoaweemzadafek like to explore the multiverse? Said expedition would create an opportunity for said exploration." Nordom turns to the computer geek. :D "Processing.....information processed. Affirmitive. Information is not much help. However, Nordom gives gratitudes anyway. Query: What is that device?" |
| AlexBurel04-20-04, 08:45 PM | Alex closes the device and puts it back inside his coat, for some reason, despite the objects size it makes no bulge under the fabric. This is a special device from my home known as a "laptop" it is used in many ways back home, but here out in the multiverse it is primarily used(at least by me) for storing information. Despite its small size, it can hold as much information as a library the size of the Civic Festhall. In addition, it is protected so that only me, or someone with the proper information, can access what is inside, making it tamperproof. I would enjoy accomaning you on your quest, my experience of being injected into the dreamscape has given me several unusual abilites that could prove helpful, such as the fact that I can turn incorpreal at will. I am curious though, considering Annah's romantic intrests in the Nameless one, do you think that she could come, if you know where she is? I have a feeling she would like it as well. He then turns toward Kilate and gives a sigh befor begining to speak to him. I would like to apoligize for any cruelties posed upon you by my kind. As hard as it may be to belive, I too have had many troubles during my youth and fully understand why so many races think of us as idiotic, selfish, cruel, evil, and completly uncaring of anyone or anything aside from ourselves. I have though this about others of my races as well, and was one of the main reasons I sought a leave from my homeworld for so many years. I hope that this shall not cause an emnity between us, as I dislike such meaningless conflicts. He then turns towards Gorris the Ogre and looks him straight in the eye to make his point clear. I understand it is hard to fathome that I come here in a dreamform and that my homeworld is entierly without magic, but let me assure you that I am sane and that I am not trying to decive you. As the Far Realmer has shown, the multiverse is very stange place, and I am looking forward to exploring it. After all, it has been my life goal. |
| user name04-20-04, 09:01 PM | the creature stops its' song an looks at nordom. Your guess is correct, I think it would be a good idea to explore this reality so I can gather information for my research. I can help out in plenty of ways, mostly through bending your reality in small ways and summoning pseudonatural allies. |
| Ogre4Hire04-20-04, 09:20 PM | Going to bust someone out of the Gray Wastes? You can count me in! So it sounds like we'll have me for muscle, and Rrodek and, er, um, him [gestures toward Yyzaquinmechtoaweemzadafek] for the magic department. So all that leaves is someone to handle all the sneaking around. So, Alex, are you good at sneaking? You must be, since you are obviously not a warrior, and you said your world lacks magic, though you did mention something about knowing Elminster. The cursed, meddling, senile- Excuse me. You said that Elminster was known in your world, so obviously there's some travel between there and Toril. Which means that it can't be totally lacking in magic... |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-20-04, 10:01 PM | Nordom smiles in what appears to be a genuine fashion "Grattitudes! Thankyou! Processing statements.....statements processed. 'Sneaking Around.....theivery....subterfuge. Affirmative. Responsibility of subterfuge will be given to Designation: Annah." Nordom's crossbows begin to click, and the rogue looks to them for a moment before continuing... "Affirmative. Apologies. Annah is unknown to present company. Description: Annah. Tiefling. Female. Thief. Hair: Red. Skin Color: White. Eye Color: Green. Tiefling Characteristics: Hairless Ratlike Tail. Residence: The Hive. Present Location: Brothel of Slaking Intellectual Lusts. Relationship to Nordom: Unknown. Annah routinely insults Nordom, but also has saved Nordom's life numerous times in the past. Reason unknown. Relationship to Nordom's superior: Unknown. Romantic feelings may exist, but Nordom has never seen Annah admit to said feelings. Possible reasons: Annah fears intimacy. Hive environment promotes violence and apathy. Further investigation required." The modron pauses, and a small panel on the left side of its body opens. The rogue reaches into itself and pulls out several sheets of parchment, each containing the address of a building called 'The Brothel of Slaking Intellectual Lusts'. The modron hands a piece to each person in turn. "Please be aware: You are to report to said address in one week at time interval 'anti-peak'. You are to report to either Nordom, Annah, or Fall From Grace, succubus proprietor of said establishment. Terms of Agreement: In return for services rendered, each will be paid a base sum of five thousand copper peices. In addition, any valuable items (gold, magic, weapons,) will be given to whomever finds said items and will do with said items whatever one wishes. Nothing is expected of designations: Gorrig, Rrodek, Alex, or Yyzaquinmechtoaweemzadafek until previously stated time and space coordinates." The modron goes back to conversing with its gear spirit companions. |
| Gnoll Druid04-20-04, 11:00 PM | Rrodek smiles. "Excellent. I will make sure to be at that brothel at the designated time. Five thousand copper pieces? Sounds good enough, but money matters little to me in this; it sounds like this shall indeed be interesting, especially with those we have coming. "I look forward to working with all who are coming on the mission. For those who can, we should stick together and get to know one another before we head out next week, it will be to our advantage. "I was going to comment on something else, but this has really got me thinking... *sigh*, oh well." |
| Ogre4Hire04-20-04, 11:42 PM | I find your offer to be acceptable. Just a reminder to all those whose dietary restrictions are greater than that of a slaad: Stock up on plenty of rations before we go. Larvae give me indigestion (and don't even bother with the Hordlings), and I'm sure that I'm the least fussy about what I eat of any of us mortals here. The big ogre finishes talking and stands there for a while. Finally, when he is sure no one is watching him, he reaches over and... Pets the cat! Quickly, he withdraws his hand before anyone notices. |
| user name04-21-04, 01:50 AM | the creature looks at the parchment. Thank you for the offer of payment, however I have no need of it. My visit to this reality will only be until I feel I have gathered a good amount of data on it. |
| Dr. Grim04-21-04, 02:24 AM | The drow, haveing made the rounds, and having talked to a variety of creature (one of whom has taught the drow some interesting new curse words), turns to his true purpose for coming to the Fortune's Wheel. The insane dark-elf tracks down one of the lesser tiefling toadies that aren't currently serving Shemeska the Marauder and asks as humbly as he knows how (hard for a dark-elf to do) for an audience with the King of the Cross-trade. [Out of Character] Can we have characters actually leaving the Fortune's Wheel, or should we confine our activities within the walls?[/Out of Character] Edit-missing punctuation mark |
| Incenjucar04-21-04, 03:50 AM | The lightless eyes of the polar rest upon the ogre at the mention of consumption, and he offers a thought. "If it can be found, milord, twould be well for you to consider utilizing magic to suppliment your rations. Neither should be wholly relied upon, but a Bowl of Endless Broth, or a Choker of Satiation would do well, in case some minor pest grabbed hold of your rations. Or, at the very least, some strong seasonings that would make your fellows more edible if such a need occurred..." |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow04-21-04, 07:18 AM | To Dr. Grim: "So, you wish to pay a certain double-headed, monkey-faced, mephit-brained, over-rated waste of Abyssal space a visit. Not only that, but you wish to abscond with several of his books. As much as I'd love to aid you, I find that the drow are not the most reliable of partners. I once entrusted a delicate operation to a drow operative - one much, much more powerful than yourself, dear mortal." "This operation involved the removal of someone who had been a thorn in both of our sides (granted, he had been annoying me for eons before her ascention). I supplied her with an Abyssal artifact which would allow her to pass unseen through the realm of this...annoyance. She accomplished the first part of her mission, but she got lazy. She didn't dispose of all of the witnesses to her crime and concentrated her attention on a pathetic little civil war against the Spider Queen. By the time I realized how much of a mess she had made, it was to late to stop that stupid lump of fat's return. Of course she fled, returning to the Weaver's bosum for safety. Just like a drow..." "I'm sorry, where was I? Aaah, yes, the libraries of Abysm. In spite of himself, the so-called 'Prince of Demons' (spits) has managed to acquire some rather...interesting tomes. I wouldn't spend much time looking for anything penned our rather...unbalanced Abyssal lord. That is, unless books covered in drool with the title 'I Liek Pie' appeals to you." |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow04-21-04, 10:28 AM | To Nordom, the not-modron: "I just you recheck your information store. The Lord of Abysm is neither the oldest nor the most powerful of the Princes of the Abyss and nobody with any sense thinks so. I'll excuse this mistake only once, and I don't want to hear you misleading any more of these impressionable primes." |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-21-04, 11:10 AM | Nordom turns to Graz'zt "Incorrect. Nordom has detailed files that Demogorgon is in fact..." Before the modron can finish its sentence, its crossbow companions begin to click wildly as if trying to get the rogue's attention. Nordom listens to the gear spirits, glances back to the Abyssal Lord, then back to the crossbows before continuing. "Apologies. Nordom's memory sub routines must be damaged. Nordom suffered a complete system shut-down when Nordom dicovered individuality. Nordom will attempt to verify information before social exchanges demand exchange of said information." Nordom slowly backs away from Graz'zt |
| Mithral Icesilver04-21-04, 06:40 PM | Mithral looks up and puts his book away. Ah, Alex? I am actually FROM Earth. You see, I walked out onto the planes just after the Astral War (or are you not from then?). Unfortunately, there seems to have been a mix-up in a few portals, and I inadvertently seem to have been transformed into an Aquatic Aasimar with a Bronze Dragon bloodline, and transported - er - about 300 years back into the past. This wouldn't be a problem for me, except that people keep asking about the symbol of the Revealing Light on my notebook. Spearmint bounds in, covered with what appears to be chocolate chip cookie dough, runs into Gorris's foot, bounds another way, runs into the wall, lands on Nordom, narrowly avoids Graz'zt, and finally lands on the table next to Mithral. YOU'LL NEVER GUESS WHAT I JUST FOUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When you get REEEEEEEEEEEEEALLLLY close to Positive, the Plane of Bread becomes the plane of Chocolate Pastries! Chocolate Cake, Chocolate Chip cookies, chocolate brownies, domino cookies! Pant pant! Spearmint passes out. Mithral turns to the others. Sorry about that. Say, Rrodeck, aren't you a Blighter? One of those ex-druids who becomes basically the opposite? I wouldn't say so, except that your companion appears to be a skeleton. Mithral gently lifts the cat off of his shoulder and places Spearmint in the Familiar Pocket [I]in the backpack. He then walks out to see if there's a bookshop anywhere nearby. OOC - That is really where Mithral is from. The Astral War, the Revealing Light, and other such mysteries can be looked up at the Urban Planars forum at http://www.forums4free.net/urbanps/. |
| kliate04-21-04, 07:04 PM | Kliate glances at Rrodeck's companion... "That must be SOME diet he's on..." Turning back to Graz'zt "If you've lost interest in making our deal, or need time to think about it, I'd be perfectly happy to join that glowing heap of metal parts and the others. If this little hunt of yours was urgent, I doubt you would have waited as long as you did to bring it up." Kliate pulls a small, curved dagger out of the inner pocket of his vest. The dagger is silver-lined with three mithril lines tracing the inside of the blade on each side, similar in appearance to a reverse embossing of claw marks. The blade is mounted on a pale leather-wrapped hilt. The pommel holds a spherical blue gem (about 3/4 in. in diameter) with lines of reddish blood stains on it. With the weapon in one hand, he then withdraws a tiny whetstone and two cloths from a pouch on his belt, and begins sharpening his small weapon over one cloth, to avoid making a mess. Every 5 or 6 applications of the whetstone, he uses the other small cloth to polish the blade. |
| Gnoll Druid04-21-04, 08:09 PM | "Mithral... ex-druid, yes; Blighter, NO. I still hold a love for nature, but my desire to keep on living was far greater when I did this. *ahem*... had foolishly gotten myself in a bit of a pickle at the time as well so that pushed me further towards the choice. "While Fluffy here was once my druid's companion, he has long since been my familiar. I have always been voiced in the arcane arts in addition to once being a druid. Was on a boat one day with a few beings I knew and thought, why not? As to why he's a skeleton... he has suffered a death at one point. At the time, there was no other way to bring him back and he was really all I had, so I used a spell I had picked up along the way to bring him back as best I could. *sigh*... used to be a great, fluffly, cuddly, collie dog. I'll find a way to change him back eventually... " Reaches down and scratches Fluffy were an ear would've once been |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-21-04, 08:10 PM | Nordom focuses on Rrodek's companion before speaking again. "Query: Please define 'Blighter'. Sub-query:Is Designation:Rrodek a blighter?" |
| Gnoll Druid04-21-04, 08:11 PM | [/ooc] Ah yes, that reminds me... nordom, are you by chance going to start an adventure thread or something of the sort for your quest?[/ooc] |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-21-04, 08:12 PM | Nordom's eyes dialate. "Statement processed. Please ignore sub-query. Reiteriation: What is a 'Blighter'?" |
| Gnoll Druid04-21-04, 08:14 PM | Glances at Nordom.. "A Blighter is an ex-druid who seeks to destroy nature and gains his/her spell power through destroying it. Also involves him/herself with undead animals. And as I said, no I am not one." |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-21-04, 08:14 PM | OOC-To tell you the truth, I WAS thinking about it, but I've never run an online game before. Interested? :)-OOC |
| Gnoll Druid04-21-04, 08:17 PM | [/ooc]YES, I am interested in that, would indeed be sweet. Suppose I should say a bit about what my character is.. Gnollish Lich with a skeletal dog familiar. Was my 2nd character, updated him over time as new material came out(and stuff that was out already, but I never knew of) though he didn't get much of an increase. Hehe, haven't been able to play much since then, been DMing ever since. 6 of his levels are in druid which are of course, now useless because he's a lich(ya know what most druids think about the undead and all..) and the rest are Wiz6/Lore7/ArchM2. Is low epic, but by no means the greatest character in the world once looking at all he has. His biggest weakness at this point is that he has few magic items. [/ooc] |
| user name04-21-04, 08:29 PM | (OOC:I would love to join an online game, I have actually been looking for one. I suppose my characters' race could be represented by the lesser pseudonatural template as made by R.M.G.C.L.F. http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=71063&perpage=30&pagenumber=1 Throw on some sorcerer levels and I think he would be pretty accurate to how I've roleplayed him so far. The ability granted by the template would be reality tremor. The LA was estimated at about +2 in the thread although you can make you own judgement.) |
| Ogre4Hire04-21-04, 09:24 PM | (OOC: Sounds fun. My character is a slightly modified type of ogre called an Ogre Savant (as Ogre, but with no INT penalty, spell Resistance 15+class levels, and the Faster Healing trait [heals damage at double the normal rate]: LA+3 instead of +2 [basically, a normal ogre with ogre magi blood]) |
| AlexBurel04-21-04, 09:57 PM | (OOC Sounds cool, I'm essentialy a human in dreamscape form, which gives me some reality influencing abilities as well as my cloak of many things, which is a bag of holding like item with the knack of creating the right item at exactly the right moment. A bit like Batman's utility belt ;) ) |
| Feathercircle04-21-04, 11:11 PM | (OOC- Damnation... I tried to delete my cluttery OOC post to clean the thread up a little, but it won't let me remove it... Why? Sorry for this waste of a post's contiuing existance.) |
| Sarig the Genie04-22-04, 10:01 AM | OOC: I'm a genie. Old as the universe itself, and with mighty powers...also slightly mad, and somewhat absurd and absent. I've played in quite a few online games, it usually works out fine with one person as the DM to play NPC's and mostly non-combat stuff. (: |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-22-04, 10:08 AM | Nordom *clicks* before continuing with the gnoll... "Statement processed. Processing.....no known 'druid' spell Nordom is aware of creates effects that would bring Fluffy into existance as an undead being. Query: Does Designation: Rrodek posses knowledge of arcane magic as well?" OOC-I don't mean to be rude to anyone but I don't want this thread to become a string of OOC messages between myself and potential players. If you want to discuss the issue, just PM or e-mail me. ;) |
| Gnoll Druid04-22-04, 05:19 PM | "Yes Nodrom, I posess knowledge of arcane magic, plenty of it as well... that's how I became what I am. No, what I used on fluffy wasn't some ordinary animate dead spell, was a unique one I picked up along the way though not horribly different from that." |
| Mithral Icesilver04-22-04, 05:55 PM | Mithral walks back in and catches Rrodrek's remark, looking slightly alarmed. Sorry, Rrodrek. You see, most blighters have skeletal or zombified companions as well. I imagine that to animate "Fluffy" and retain your bond must have taken quite a spell. I know a wizard who goes by the name of "Nobody." He's a rather interesting native of Air known as an Invisible Stalker, basically a solid, invisible set of strong wind in a rough cloud; they're very hard to detect. You only get an outline with See invisibility, and you only see them fully with true seeing. Otherwise, you have to keep your hand on them or the other way around if you want to know where they are. They do talk though. Nobody knows Common and Draconic in addition to his native Auran, but what I really wanted to bring up was his familiar, Windbeak. Windbeak was a raven, and Nobody picked him up when he was found to speak Ignan. Nobody found a rather powerful spell that turned Windbeak into an Air Elemental. He still looked a bit like a raven and knows Ignan, but he is in every way but mind an air elemental. Mithral turns to Nordom. A blighter is an ex-druid who has turned to desecrating the land they once loved. They can never become as powerful as druids, and they have to get halfway to their maximum power before they get a companion again. When they do, the companion is an undead animal. They gain the power to cast spells from using an ability called deforestation, which destroys all plant life in a certain area. It's terrible, and if stopped, they can't cast spells that day. Most blighters are human ex-druids, but terrified rumors whisper of a few elven druids who have turned to the path of the blighter. The symbol of a blighter is a withered sprig of holly or mistletoe, just like a live sprig is the symbol of a druid or ranger, and a god's symbol stands for a paladin or cleric. Mithral pulls out a book he apparently just bought. This book refers to some other interesting professions. A few notable ones are the hexblade and some paladial orders which deviate from the norm. Paladins draw their power from the gods, and rangers from the land. Small wonder, then, that there is a martial champion of the arcane arts: the Hexblade. Hexblades aren't very friendly. Most, in fact, are downright evil. They gain their power and familiars about the same time rangers and paladins start gaining spells. Talking of paladins, some orders have unusual codes. On some primes, the orders are widespread enough that traditional paladins have come to be called Paladins of Honor. The three differing types are Chaotic Good Paladins of Freedom, Chaotic Evil Paladins of Slaughter, and Lawful Evil Paladins of Tyranny. They have slightly different powers, and of course different codes. |
| Ogre4Hire04-22-04, 06:19 PM | Paladins? He growls menacingly I hate Paladins! |
| DennyJay04-22-04, 07:24 PM | Few take note of the new addition to the crowded room. The slender figure casts a cursory glance at the current occupants as he takes a seat in a dark corner, carefully avoiding the enraged ogre. Those few whose mundane eyes see under the caped visage are treated to an unremarkable sight. His face is totally forgettable, and one is hard pressed to notice any feature save for bright green eyes. The green eyes widen a bit as Erte as he takes a quick census of the sheer volume of well-known beings he has stumbled upon. The bright green eyes cloud over for a brief moment, and the face frowns slightly. With a pang of regret for opportunities lost, he pulls a quill and clean sheet of parchment from his cloak, and scratches out a short note in Common. The note reads “It is with a heavy heart I am able to leave only this. The multitude of famous beings that have gathered in this small space would normally be cause for much celebration; and none would cause as large a response as the lovely proprietor of this fine establishment. It was my heartfelt wish to express in person my deep gratitude to those whose work I find most inspiring. “However, I find myself called away by matters most urgent; and at the very moment I chose to make my first appearance in Sigil. I take my leave of you now; but I give my word I shall return; and in no more than half a fortnight, by the reckoning of my destination. “Sincerely, “Erte Denijay” Erte looks at the table’s scars for a second, making a decision. *THUCK* Those who react to the sound see only a short dagger, buried in the table, impaling a note just above the words. Those who didn’t, might see a man passing gracefully through the same doorway he entered earlier. |
| user name04-22-04, 08:43 PM | the creature looks at Gorris. What do you have against paladins? The paladins where I come from all dance, they're very good dancers too. |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow04-23-04, 02:07 AM | "How ironic. The paladins where I come from dance, too. Granted, this might have something to do with the red-hot iron boots nailed to their feet, but it's amusing, nonetheless." |
| user name04-23-04, 02:37 AM | the creature looks at Graz'zt. The paladins where you come from wear red-hot iron boots as well? Albeit I think the ones where I come from enjoy it, paladins are rather odd in the Far Realm. |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow04-23-04, 08:37 AM | "Hmmm...perhaps I shall have to visit these so-called 'Far Realms.'" "As long as the paladins still taste good with tartar sauce, that is." |
| user name04-23-04, 04:11 PM | the creature chuckles. The last time I saw something try to eat a Far Realm paladin the paladin exploded. They tend to do that when they're agitated. |
| Ogre4Hire04-23-04, 06:13 PM | He looks over at Graz'zt. I prefer mine to be slow-roasted and stuffed with diced potatoes, onions, peppers, and halflings, myself. If you don't have any halflings, you can try gnomes, but I personally think that they taste funny. This makes me hungry... The ogre wanders off, in search of something, or someone, to eat. A short time later, he reappears, looking happier. He gives a satisfied belch. Mmm, Sigil Fried Cranium Rats! Delicious and bite sized... |
| kliate04-23-04, 09:24 PM | Looks to Ogre4Hire "We should exchange recipes some time. I have a few dishes involving human that go nicely with a side plate of halfling - you pick up a few things when you've been hunting them as long as I have." |
| Incenjucar04-24-04, 02:03 AM | The polar stifles a yawn, and examines his fire-lit fingernails as he murmers. "The trouble with cranium rats is that you can't snack on them. Though they taste quite nice in a big batch, they're horrid one at a time. A true pity." |
| Mithral Icesilver04-24-04, 09:31 AM | Myself, I prefer roasted Ether Scarabs. They taste sort of like steak, from a cow. Of course, I usually cast prestigidation and make them taste like strawberry ice cream :P. |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-24-04, 11:22 AM | "Nordom prefered source of susentance is heated alluminium rods topped with diced gold nuggets and fresh ranch dressing." For a moment, the mordon's 'lips' quiver and it looks like the rogue will drool....but it just *clicks* and continues to stare. |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow04-24-04, 11:28 AM | "Heh, check this (http://home.flash.net/~brenfrow/fr/duty.htm) out." "Azzagrat - home of the finest spread in the Abyss!" :D |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-24-04, 11:42 AM | "Processing.....Query: That green....stuff.....IS jello, right?" |
| kliate04-24-04, 11:53 AM | Kliate stares at the visage for a time, finally responding to Nordom's query "Hmm..Looks like a gelatinous cube crossbred with a lime to me. Got any?" |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow04-24-04, 02:10 PM | "Ummm...yes...Jello, that's what he...I mean, it is...now." Graz'zt snaps his fingers and barks an order in the direction of his carriage before he realizes that his servant has been covered in tentacles, sealed in a glass jar, and tossed in the back seat. The Ebon Prince frowns for a second before gesturing towards one of the armanites hitched to the carriage. "You! You're promoted to 'vrock.' Bring the large silver platter over here and give our scaly friend a taste. Just don't upset the soup in the gold bowl - I'm not sure it's done coagulating yet." "Hmmm...now I need another armanite." Looks around the room suspiciously... |
| Mithral Icesilver04-25-04, 09:59 AM | Don't look at me! I get lost just in the Plane of Infinite Portals, never mind the rest! |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow04-26-04, 12:08 AM | "Don't worry, I wasn't planning on selecting you. And not because I have something, much, much worse planned for you. Honestly." "Also, I heard you remark a while back that you from the Prime world of 'Earth.' I recently came across the lyrics to a song* that might have be of some interest to our host:" "I saw her today at the reception In her glass was a bleeding man She was practiced at the art of deception Well, I could tell by her blood-stained hands" "Sound like anybody in this room?" After letting anyone who wants a taste of the...Jello have a bite, Graz'zt waves his hands and the armanite selected for 'promotion' begins shrieking horribly as he begins transforming into a vrock. Still looking for a suitable replacement... *You Can't Always Get What You Want by the Rolling Stones |
| Eco-Mono04-27-04, 01:05 AM | ((OOC: And I finally take the plunge (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=227500)...)) *A lost-looking fellow stumbles into Shemeska's establishment. He appears to be about 19, and is wearing cargo pants, a polo shirt, and a SERIOUSLY overpacked backpack.* Berk: *muttering* Well that's the last time I'm going to Jersey on a hunch! I think this place is Fortune's Wheel... not like I can read the signs or anything. *speaks up* I say... does anyone here speak English? |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow04-27-04, 02:32 AM | A wave of shudders ripples through the seven remaining armanites, who are close enough to hear the berk's mumbling. One of them trots over to the newcomer and whispers in his ear. "I have seen horror. I have served in the Blood Wars against the hated baatezu, fiends of fire and hate and tyranny. I have seen beings from alien dimensions (points at Fluffy/Cthulhu). I have seen the face of ineffiable evil (points at Shemeska) and a heart so black that no light can penetrate (points at Graz'zt). But, I must confess, I've never heard of anything as inhumanly vile as this...'Jersey' of which you speak." :D |
| Eco-Mono04-27-04, 03:19 AM | *The fellow giggles quietly to himself at the armanite's comment, then does a double-take.* Berk: Ah-wha? I understood that! I suppose only knowing English isn't so much trouble after all, if it's the same as Planar Trade... *The new arrival begins to wander around the room, thinking to himself. Then, noticing Nordom, he walks over to the rogue.* Berk: Hello there. You're a rogue Modron, right? |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-27-04, 09:09 AM | Nordom turns to the human from Earth "Affirmatory. Rogue. Not Modron. Backwards. Nordom=backwards modron. Query: Did you stumble into Sigil through the portal located in the gigantic indoor modern marketplace? Processing....the.....mall??" |
| Eco-Mono04-27-04, 10:40 AM | Berk: Yup, that one. Blasted thing turned out to be one-way so I'm stuck here... *He removes a bottle of water from the side of his backpack and takes a drink.* Berk: How did you know about it, by the way? It's not like you can really see it from this side. |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-27-04, 11:00 AM | "*click! click!* Query processed. Nordom is aware of said portal because Nordom's primary function within THE SOURCE was to catalogue all known discrepancies in the space-time continuum. Nordom was ordered by former superior to attend to RUBIKON, a modron experiment to bring order to the chaos of Limbo through field testing of mortal behavior when confronted with an opportunity for monetary gain through the possibility of death.....processing....a 'dungeon adventure simulator.' By studying the chaos of Limbo, Nordom was better able to comprehend said discrepancies." |
| Eco-Mono04-27-04, 11:04 AM | Berk: A convention... imagine that. So, you're saying there's a way back to that Prime world? |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-27-04, 01:27 PM | "Affirmative. Unfortunately, said portal exists on Cania, eighth layer of Baator. The key to said portal is a chunk of ice from the para-elemental plane if ice, and the destination of said portal is the continent of Antarctica. There is a 92.5% chance, give or take three, you will fail to reach said portal because of death, fiendish manipulation, or simple capture." |
| AlexBurel04-27-04, 03:01 PM | Alex looks up from his laptop at the new arrivel and gives a chuckle. Well, it looks like there was a portal from Earth after all, though Invever expected it to be inside a mall. I wonder how many overweight tourists accidently stumbled through before now. He then puts his computer away, walks up to the berk and gives his hand a shake. My name's Alex Burel, several years ago I sealed myself in statis and ventured into the dreamlands before winding up in here. I would like to point out though, that the only way I can think of to head back is to venture into the crystal sphere known as Truespace, which is over 50 billion lightyears in diamiter. Thus, unless you can find a teleportation device, your pretty much stuck. Not that that's a BAD thing. He then turns to Graz'zt and thinks for a moment, trying to remember the tune to the lyrics. Interesting, I didn't know you could pick up radio stations in the abyss. Have you heard this one? I think it fits her well. He pulls out a CD player, inserts a MP3 and it begins to play: Take a litle walk to the edge of town Go across the tracks Where the viaduct looms, Like a bird of doom As it shifts and cracks Where secrets lie in the border fires, In the humming wires Hey man, you know You're never coming back Past the square, past the bridge, Past the mills, past the stacks On a gathering storm comes A tall handsome man In a dusty black coat with A red right hand He'll wrap you in his arms, Tell you that you've been a good boy He'll rekindle all the dreams It took you a lifetime to destroy He'll reach deep into the hole, Heal your shrinking soul Hey buddy, you know you're Never ever coming back He's a god, he's a man, He's a ghost, he's a guru They're whispering his name Through this disappearing land But hidden in his coat Is a red right hand You ain't got no money? | user name04-27-04, 04:21 PM | the creature turns towards the newcomer. Hello there, you know a being such as you is rather defensless here. the creature focuses and some armor and a sword made of an odd rubbery substance appear in front of him. You can use these, they always said they wanted to see more of this reality anyways. suddenly eyes open up all over the armor and the hilt of the sword. They'll protect you if you want, I've keyed them to you at the time I summoned them, they'll be able to speak with you through telepathy. |
| Mithral Icesilver04-27-04, 04:58 PM | Mithral looks up. Hello. Another prime. This'll get interesting. Oh, quick sentient relations lesson: the best rule to follow in Sigil is to answer "no" to four out of five questions asked of you, especially by fiends, until you're in the swing of things. Oh, don't mind him *nods in Fluffy's direction*, he's still adapting to this multiverse; you might want to watch out for a couple of other people in the room. Mithral looks around and lowers his voice. First of all, you know how to stay on Shemeska's good side and to avoid angering Graz'zt. But watch out for Gorris, the ogre, and Dr. Grim; he's the drow over there trying to get Gorris's attention. Also, when a fiery being with ash for skin and hair enters, just try not to insult him or her; I haven't figured out which Incenjucar is yet, but ... Incenjucar is a fire polar, and as such has power over fire, radiance, and ash. Now, did you mean Jersey, England, or Jersey as in New Jersey. You see, I'm from Earth too. Trying to get back as a matter of fact. At least I've got my bearings here. |
| Eco-Mono04-27-04, 06:08 PM | Berk: WELL then... looks like I'll be here a while. *He then addresses Alex.* Berk: Nice to meet you, I'm Pete Garnet. Interesting to know that two people in this room are from Earth. You've got it lucky though.... all YOU need to get back is to wake up! *It is at about this point that Alex cues up his CD for Graz'zt and the Far Realms creature offers his gift.* Pete: Well... thank you. These'll be helpful, to be sure. I'm definetely not leaving the Planes for a while yet, so I may as well try to learn some basic survival here. *And then, in response to Mithral's advice...* Pete: New Jersey. Found out about the portal in the mall from a dream. And you heard what the nordom said about the portal back... I may as well get used to life here... definetely not going to Baator. |
| Ogre4Hire04-27-04, 07:44 PM | He glances up to see this latest arrival. Looks like it's raining humans today... Say, this mass migration out of your world wouldn't have anything to do with the Hold Election spell that I heard something about, would it?:D |
| Eco-Mono04-27-04, 08:51 PM | *Pete bursts out laughing. Apparently this is funny in context.* Pete: No, no, far as I can tell it's convergence of coincidences. Really weird. |
| Gnoll Druid04-27-04, 08:54 PM | Rolls eyes... "Pleasant." Walks up to the new arrival while motioning for fluffy to stay at the table. "You seem awfully knowledgeable for one such as yourself, do tell... horribly curious, how is it you know what you do about the surrounding area?" |
| Eco-Mono04-28-04, 08:39 AM | Pete: Our little corner of the Prime Material seems to have an unusual connection with the planes at large: we have detailed accounts of the planes and what to expect there, but it's all considered fictitious. My guess is, some Planar "in the know" found himself in our vicinity and decided upon a good way of retiring rich... writing up his knowledge about the Planes and distributing it as material for an adventure game. *He pauses for another swig of his bottled water.* Pete: Trouble is, whether I've got that information or not I still don't have "street smarts" in how things work around here... I'm basically a well-informed berk. |
| Ogre4Hire04-28-04, 08:47 PM | Don't worry, little human. We'll take good care of you... |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron04-28-04, 09:42 PM | Nordom approaches the earthling human... "Greetings, designation: Pete Garnet. I am Nordom, a Not Modron. Nordom was once like you- after Nordom discovered Nordom's individuality, Nordom did not know where to turn to discover Nordom's identity. Nordom learned that approximately 67% of the beings in the multiverse were not trust worthy for request of assisstance. Nordom would like to officially offer assisstance to designation: Pete Garnet for nylon....error...null compensation. Status: Awaiting any and all possible queries of Sigil, its environs, and its populace." The modron stands perfectly still and just stares at the human from Earth. |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow04-29-04, 11:48 AM | Don't worry, little human. We'll take good care of you... A telepathic message flows into Gorris' head... "You get the peppers, onions, and potatoes. I'll get the halflings..." |
| kliate04-29-04, 08:07 PM | Kliate lets out a soft sneeze "Ugh..this place is beginning to fill with softskin stench. Why don't you humans wander over to a nearby kitchen and try out the oven from the inside? Don't forget to add the oregano." |
| Eco-Mono04-30-04, 01:16 AM | *Pete is about to answer Nordom when Kliate makes his comment.* Pete: No thank you sir. While I'm flattered that you think I'd make a good dinner, I'd much rather cook than be cooked. *wink* And Nordom... I suppose the first question is where to get some half-decent room and board around here. |
| Incenjucar04-30-04, 02:07 AM | The polar tilts his head to Mithral, grinning faintly, as whisps of blue flame seep between his fangs. "As one of my airy brethren once suggested, it is best to think of us as guards that have spent too long napping, but are planning to more than make up for the lost time." |
| DennyJay04-30-04, 04:50 PM | The black-cloaked figure steps carefully through the door. Finding his previous table remarkably untouched, Erte Denijay procures himself a drink before sagging wearily into a chair. That’s the last time I go vacationing on that Prime, a weary voice says to noone in particular. A gesture and few arcane syllables later, the note and dagger are gone; while the table is now free from scars and polished to a high shine. But even that simple effort leaves Erte drained. For those who really look at him, he seems pale, almost translucent. Save for his eyes, which burn an even brighter green than before. He mumbles to himself, as if taking notes. Thrice-blessed “friendly travel agency”. “A quite easy to reach 2-way portal on the plane of Air. Goes to the world’s famous O Ze’onay Ol.” Forgot to tell me the whole sodding planet’s a magical sinkhole. Never trust a smirking ‘loth. Realizing where he was at, he glances up, and says to the scenery, No offense intended to our most gracious hostess. |
| Gnoll Druid04-30-04, 08:36 PM | "Haha, now that sounds like an idea. Whoever that was decided to retire that way sure must have made alot money out of it.. "Well anyway... Pete, I don't know what nordom could offer you in the way of room and board, but I suppose you're welcome to stay with me for now. Wouldn't exactly want to see you get eaten by some of the guests here in this room... At the time being I'm staying in a room at one of the inns here 'till I find a permenant place of residence within sigil." |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow05-01-04, 01:38 PM | "May I recommend the House of the Shadowed Hand? Ask for room 6, although I wouldn't sample the breakfast buffet. It might disagree with you." "Literally." |
| Ogre4Hire05-01-04, 10:46 PM | I hate places where the food tries to negotiate. |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow05-02-04, 01:04 AM | "Yes, well, it's less 'negotiating' and more 'forcing you into its maw.' Less talkie, more tentacly." "Just like mother used to make." |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron05-02-04, 11:06 AM | "Does not compute. Graz'zt does not possess tentacles." OOC- To Feathercircle, Ogre4Hire, and user name- please PM me. You three are the only ones who haven't given me a definite yes or no to an online game. |

| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow05-05-04, 06:23 AM | OOC - Go for it! |
| Silmarien Aldalome05-05-04, 09:22 PM | OoC: guyz - your RP is superb IC: she is standing on a platform - 1000 feet above the planes far below - and the brisk breeze blows her Glyphed Blue and Silver Robes all about. Below and all about - the lands are vast - a world waiting to be explored. Behind you - to the East - The mountain range runs North-South for as far as you can see. When you look Westwards - a vast forest canopy carpets the lands, interspersed with hamlets, and all kinds of cities and peoples..... She concentrates - intoning in Arcane Vocalisations - and the Scrying brings a focussing in your concentration - inwards - a conversation emerges from the landscape. A machine-creature - Nordom - converses with all manner of beings in an amazing place - where the realm of possibility is only just beginning to emerge........She watches on - the being - Omega - whose handless stumps, and featureless face - re-emerges. Omega is the Animus of Silmarien. He has free will - he does not do Silmarien's will - but communes with her......he says "May I partake of your breakfast with you? But - non-organic materials only - energies of various kinds may do. |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow05-07-04, 10:25 AM | "It would appear that we have reached one of those natural pauses in a conversation. I must admit that silence is even more awkward when there are no psychic screams of imprisoned souls to break it." Graz'zt gestures to a black armanite and whispers in its ear. "None of the assembled are going to be an adequate replacement for your fellow. Contact my agent in Sigil, and see if he knows of someone in his power who might be more suitable, preferably one of those loathesome goat-centaur people. Remind him that the Lord of the Triple-Realm, the Prince of Shadows, and the Six-Fingered Fiend requires his immediate attention in this matter." |
| Mithral Icesilver05-08-04, 08:41 AM | Overhearing the Archfiend's last comment, Mithral appears to let out a sigh of relief. Luckily, no sound comes out. Well, cutters, I'm off to the concordant plane known as Avalon. 'Course, the only portal to Avalon from the Outlands is in the realm known as Avalon, just to make it really confusing. He turns to Pete. I think I may be from a different time period. You haven't had the Astral War yet, right? It's annoying that there are no other Shiners here. He turns to Nordom. Shiners? That'd be the Revealing Light. See, the Mind's Eye broke up - err - will break up - and most of them went right back to being Signers. Oh, right. Awhile after the Faction War, the Sign of One became the Mind's Eye. Anyway, a small group of people didn't WANT to be Signers. Half of the Red Death moving kip to Carcerie as the Sodkillers (afterwards changing the name back to Mercykillers, which had the Sons of Mercy collectively rolling their eyes), and the other half leaving someplace, too, there was an empty faction spot. The former Signers moved right in and set up a faction dedicated to gathering information like the Guvners, but then letting that information go free for all to know. That's the Revealing Light, otherwise known as the Shiners or the Archivists. Mithral walks out the door. Spearmint, having been under the table, searching for shiny objects, pops out, looks around, appears to remember something, and bounds after him. You hear a sound vaguely like a backhanded swat with a lizard claw, and Spearmint's voice saying, And THAT was for saying I had a Kender for a brain! |
| Eco-Mono05-10-04, 12:44 AM | Pete: Well I suppose the first thing I oughta go do is get my hands on some ca... JINK. Yeah that's it. *Pete begins to think hard. After a moment a look of surprise and amused excitement crosses his face.* Pete: Nordom... that fellow who just left said some odd stuff. The Mercykillers are still hard at work, correct? |
| Murr-Quan Lord #205-10-04, 11:00 AM | The cat suddenly jumps onto Pete's lap, a couple of pieces of paper in its mouth. One is a tract on the inhumanity of the faction known as the Sodkillers. The other is a pamphlet extolling the virtues of the Sons of Mercy. Cat: *bright, happy look* |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron05-10-04, 11:46 AM | The rogue turns to Pete... "Processing.....affirmative. The feline life form possesses correct information. After the events designated as "The Faction War" the factions were not permitted to remain in Sigil. Some disbanded, some relocated, and, in the case of the MercyKillers, the faction split into its two original counterparts. Processing.... Sons of Mercy: Belief: mercy is the most important quality to a good life. Overall alignment: Lawful Good. Current status: Patrolling the streets of Sigil as a replacement for the Harmonium. Prospect of success: Slight. The Sons of Mercy are only 15% efficient when compared to the Harmonium. Processing....Sodkillers: Belief: The strong prey on the weak. If one is too weak to hold a possession, said one is unworthy of said possession. Overall alignment: Lawful Evil. Current status: Unknown." |
| Murr-Quan Lord #205-10-04, 09:16 PM | The pamphlets focus more on their ideology, although both of them ask that donations be sent to the Sons of Mercy. Their leader is a "Paladin" from the "Prime world of Toril," and while some would ridicule his naivete it would seem that he's highly skilled, and thoroughly committed to doing what's right. The one on the Sodkillers mostly describes some horrific acts credited to their name. |
| Eco-Mono05-11-04, 01:41 AM | Pete: Hmm... well it seems my info's up-to-date if nothing else. *Pete proceeds to page through the pamphlets. (Alliteration!) About halfway through the one on the Sodkillers he winces rather severely. He stows both tracts in his backpack and looks at Rrodek.* Pete: Well then... I'm perfectly willing to take you up on that offer of a place to stay for a while. |
| Murr-Quan Lord #205-13-04, 09:49 PM | Cat: *hops down, rubs up against Pete's legs* *and the leg of the chair* *several times* |
| Murr-Quan Lord #205-15-04, 06:49 PM | The cat stands still for a few moments. Then it licks its paw. Then it starts bathing itself. This goes on for some time. Finally it walks up to the camera, rubs up against it a few times to claim it, and then starts pawing at the lens. Cat: Maow! Its voice echoes. |
| Ogre4Hire05-16-04, 06:46 PM | (Thinking)-Shemeska hasn't said anything in a long time. That makes me suspicious. Maybe she's trying to use telepathy to read my mind. | kliate05-17-04, 07:24 PM | Kliate pauses his polishing exercise and glares sharply at the two singers, then looks around the room. "I'll start bidding at 2 coppers in exchange for me 'removing' these annoyances. Any takers?" |
| Ogre4Hire05-17-04, 08:05 PM | OOC- Actually, notice the (Thinking) at the beginning of my last post. This was supposed to indicate that it took place entirely in my character's head, and thus only those who were telepathically listening to him would be subjected to it.:D |
| kliate05-17-04, 09:12 PM | OOC - Must be the presence of the pseudonatural |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow05-18-04, 08:29 AM | Graz'zt flips Kliate a couple coppers. "I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about, but anyone who is willing to 'remove annoyances' for two coppers deserves to be indulged." To Omega: "I must appologize for our host's inhospitality - I see no one has served up the energies you requested. 'Tsk, tsk's at Shemmy and her toadies. Perhaps you could impose on one of our Inner Planar friends. I'd offer you some, but my 'energies' tend to give people heartburn." "And lungburn." "And skinburn." Just barely audible, muttered under his breath: "Yes, it goes on and on my friends..." |
| Silmarien Aldalome05-18-04, 09:05 PM | Amidst a silent reverie, Omega registers Graz'zt's gesture. His featureless face reveals nothing - but his vocal tones, might suggest appreciation. "ahh, I see - best to find sustenance, that suits one's form.....it can wait. Looks at everyone in turn - and pauses momentarily on Nordom "I am confused though - what are "sodkillers" and you speak of Sigil - might I hear some account of these things?" You note a slight blue aura around Omega's form. His cadences have a strange "plural" sound to them - as if more than one voice speaks at once. |
| Ogre4Hire05-18-04, 11:07 PM | Sodkillers? They're one of the new groups in Sigil. Originally, they were part of the Mercykillers, the local law enforcers. Now, they're mostly a bunch of glorified mercinaries with the motto of "Might make right." In other words, my kind of scum. Basically, they enforce justice for whoever will meet their prices. If you want someone offed, hire them. If you want someone offed in a particularly gruesome fashion, hire me instead!:schemes: The big ogre flashes his large yellow teeth and flexes powerful biceps. |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow05-18-04, 11:58 PM | Under breath, muttered to no one in particular... "What are you going to do? Breathe on them them?" |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow05-21-04, 12:21 AM | Looks at Nordom who isn't responding to Omega's query. Waves hands in front of the not-modron's eyes. "That's the problem with these things. Sometimes you just have to give them a good kick." Proceeds to do so. |

If you want someone offed, hire them. If you want someone offed in a particularly gruesome fashion, hire me instead!:schemes: The big ogre flashes his large yellow teeth and flexes powerful biceps. Omega stands impassively as the big ogre reveals teeth stained with blood and gore. Even without eyes, you get the sense that he watches the ogre's demonstration of power. You hear a strange gurgling sound - it has no context for your understanding - and Omega's aura changes from blue to red - before changing to Mauve. When he hears Grazzt's muttering - the aura shifts to green. He holds up an arm that ends in a stump. There is a high-pitched sound that ceases after a moment. "Ogre4Hire - your comments are communicated to The Listeners. What is your modus operandi?" |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron05-21-04, 02:35 AM | The rogue falls flat on its face from the abyssal lord's.....assisstance. The rogue clicks and whirs for about five seconds before it gets to its feet. "Apologies, designation Omega. Nordom was processing all available data and attempting to form an addendum to previously stated data. Nordom possesses insufficient data to form said addendum. Apologies." |

Omega re-orients its body and leans forwards slightly into Nordom - the impassive disposition shifting in rapid blur of fluid, well-sequenced movments. In half a breath - Omega has crosses the room, wisps of the mauve aura trail into the airs behind it. "Your gesture is well-received Nordom. Do proceed - The Watchers await." |

| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow05-22-04, 08:04 AM | "And who, exactly, are these 'Listeners' of yours?" |
| Mithral Icesilver05-22-04, 03:27 PM | Mithral walks back in, dripping wet and muttering under his breath. You catch the word "tripwire" several times, as well as the phrase "bloody hedgehogs." Although Spearmint is sitting on his shoulder, the pseudodragon crawls out from under the table at the same time. The two pseudodragons have a short conversation in a language that seems to have been made up by reptilian elves, and the one that was sitting on Mithral's shoulder bats at his double, which vanishes. Mithral turns to Pete after a short period of concentration and staring at Spearmint. The events I referred to happen - will happen - buggrit, HAPPENED about 50 years from when we are, when Earth at large gets access to the planes after a massive and surprisingly short war with the Githyanki. First contact was in Canada; the first conversation of a defeated Githyanki and Earth's leaders included: "It's a ... LEAF?" The githyanki had thought that Canada's flag bore a bloody three-pronged spearhead. Anyway, Earth steps onto the planes, the Revealing Light forms, the Sodkillers moved to Carceri for some reason, and the flood of new belief reshapes the planes themselves. Even created a new pathway through the elemental planes. A railway called the Elemental Express. They say Olidammara's first words upon seeing Los Vegas were: "It's my house with neon lights! Neon lights! I wish I'd thought of that!" He turns to the lord of Agrazzat. I believe Omega referred to the "Listeners." He then quickly moves toward the restroom, apparently to put on some dry clothes. |
| Ogre4Hire05-22-04, 09:55 PM | (OOC: The character's name is Gorris, though considering how long ago I announced this, it isn't surprising that you didn't see that.:)) Modus operandi? You mean 'what do I do?' I'm a freelance mercenary. I operate out of Sigil, but I've been around the Wheel a time or two since I came here. I specialize in quick, heavy assault style offensive maneuvers, especially when collateral damage or stealth are not issues. If you're interested in hiring me, we can talk further. |
| Silmarien Aldalome05-23-04, 08:10 PM | Yes Gorris - your modus operandi. Required, possibly. But hear this. As Gorris's talks, Omega's aura shifts to Violet from Mauve and intensifies, so that the wispy trails are visible about a foot from Omega's body. Its mouth stretches sideways - and in a blur of arm motion - and low-grade gurgling, it says "This feat is.....difficult. It is.....distorted by the.......inversion effects. As he says the last two words, his aura shifts to red. I am permitted to say this: The Githyanki - see things in strange ways - and new information speaks to Sodkiller missions. The Temporal anomaly of your presence here is......required. The opening of the Planes to Earth and your knowledge of that time period - speak more of this. Information required." |
| Mithral Icesilver05-24-04, 05:30 PM | Mithral emerges from the restroom, a good deal drier, in time to hear Omega's last comment. The portal I came through is a one-way between someplace in the Hive to 200 feet below an abandoned warehouse in Winnipeg, Canada, in the year 2010 by the reckoning of Earth's Gregorian calender, which has 365 days a year, with an extra day every 4 years, except on years ending in zero, except when the year is a multiple of 1000. It gets confusing. Anyway, the portal goes from Winnipeg to Sigil, and opens up about 50 feet above Barmy Run. Luckily, I was wearing a coat, not knowing where the portal goes or how cold it was. I say lucky, because the only thing to break my fall was a thicket of razorvine. Ouch. Then I tripped through another portal in the Clerk's Ward, about a month later, at the bottom of a fountain. The portal emerged now, about a 400 years earlier, at the bottom of the same fountain. That's also one-way. Anyway, it's odd not having a telephone in my wristwatch anymore. My watch doesn't even work, though that may just be falling in that fountain. Or some freak standing wave effect in Sigil's magnetic field. I somehow got my race changed walking through the portal, and Spearming, swimming after me, was infused as well. |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow05-25-04, 11:53 PM | The armanite sent to 'aquire' a 'volunteer' to become the missing eighth armanite for Graz'zt's carriage returns, carrying a large sack over his shoulder. Something/someone is squirming in the sack. "Excuse me, I have to attend to something. I'll be right back." Graz'zt, the armanite with the sack and the armanite singled out for promotion to 'vrock' go into one of the back rooms. At random intervals horrid screaming accompanied by flashes of green light eminate from the room. |
| kliate05-26-04, 05:46 PM | To Mithral... "And this Winnipeg place, there are many humans there?" |
| Mithral Icesilver05-26-04, 06:00 PM | Humans happen to be the only sentient species on Earth, and Winnipeg is a rather large city, the capital of its province. So yes, there are many humans. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if the fountain portal is two-way, and I don't think you'll be able to get to the portal 50 feet above Barmy Run even if it is. Although, I could mention a couple of people who may like to experience the outer planes first-hand ... most of 'em would go to Limbo, though. However, if it's here now, there's a portal in the Astral someplace that goes to a forest a couple of day's march north of there. Always assuming Winnipeg exists now. Like I said, that's about 400 years in the future, so I wouldn't hold my breath, Kilate. Even though I know you lizardfolk can hold your breath for a long time. Spearmint, attempting to scrabble into the light fixture, fails miserably due to his difficulties with gravity and the light fixture's smoothness; he lands in the middle of the room with a clatter of scales. He seems to decide to find out for himself if the fountain portal goes both ways, and bolts out the door. Since his tail had gotten hooked around Mithral's backpack, Mithral is pulled along with him. |
| Silmarien Aldalome05-26-04, 06:46 PM | Omega listens to Mithral - and gurgles quietly. His stumpted arms hang loosely at his side. "Temporal Discontinuities disrupt the Timelines. The Translation between the Planes has ruptured Unspace and the.....Inverse Plane...... The Accumulation is approaching critical poignancy. Do you understand? |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow05-27-04, 03:03 AM | Shouts randomly heard from the back room: "No! That piece goes there, this piece goes there!" "Hold still, will you!" "What do you mean you can't find it! That foot didn't walk off on its own!" Now the sounds from the back include a gurgling, more screaming, and a low humming sound. |
| Ogre4Hire05-27-04, 07:18 PM | The big ogre notices a clawed appendige crawl by him and out the door. |
| Mithral Icesilver05-27-04, 08:44 PM | Mithral walks back in, dragging Spearmint by the tail (leaving long scratches in the floor) and once again soaked. He and Spearmint are staring hard at each other and appear to be having a telepathic argument. Spearmint eventually looks away and Mithral looks up. Sorry about that. We now know that the fountain portal is one-way as well. A foot from a large blue carnivorous bird crawled past me, so I picked it up, knowing that there was a spinagon schedualed to become a Vrock in here. He walks over to the back room, opens the door a crack, drops in the foot, and shuts the door again. He then mutters about going to someplace besides Mt. Celestia or Arborea to dry off. A sheet of paper flutters away from him, with writing on it that looks to have been scrawled by anthropomorphic rodents. As he departs, with Spearmint in persuit, you catch one last phrase: Bloody hedgehogs! OOC: Pseudodragons being telepathic, that is mostly how Mithral and Spearmint communicate with each other. And yes, I'm aware that hedgehogs aren't rodents. |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow05-28-04, 08:03 AM | Graz'zt emerges from the backroom, wearing an apron. "Well, that's done..." The chair of shadows forms around the Demon Prince, who slumps down in it. He reaches into his pocket and removes a small egg-timer, which he sets for one hour. |
| Azer Firelord05-28-04, 07:45 PM | A dwarf with flames for its beard and hair and bronze skin steps into the Inn, looking at those around it cautiously "Greetings, I am Molth Kul, Firelord of the Azer, and whom do I have the pleasure of addressing at this present time?" |
| Silmarien Aldalome05-28-04, 09:39 PM | [i]The jet black smooth-skinned creature with featureless face (barring the single mouth) extends his handless arm. "I am Omega" there is a humming sound as wisps of mauve aura trail off into the aether "I am from the Plane of Reveral. Omega turns to the others in the room. "Grazz't, Pete, Mithral and Kilate will speak for themselves" Omega turns to the Ogre Gorris and adds with a grin on his face "This one takes money to broil the living - or the non-living." Omega's tones shift down half an octive. "Do you know anything about Sodkillers, one- and two-way time conduits, or The Accumulation. The Listeners seek this knowledge." |
| Azer Firelord05-28-04, 09:49 PM | The fire dwarf stands up and looks at the strange 'Omega' creature "I do not know of the things of which you speak: I believe time travel to be impossible: perhaps the fiends here tempt you with deception?" |

| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow05-29-04, 01:14 AM | "Deception?" "Me?" "Never." :b: |
| Ogre4Hire05-29-04, 06:02 PM | The big ogre turns to face the azer. He looks thoughtful, of all things. Don't be so sure on that time travel thing. I've heard some pretty barmy rumors about some sort of device that allowed its user to travel freely through time. Of course, the sod who was telling me this kept yapping on and on about a "Dragonlance," so... I like azers. As Mom always said: The only good dwarf is one that's been set on fire. |
| Azer Firelord05-29-04, 06:13 PM | The azer looks at the ogre thoughtfully A common mistake. We azer were not set on fire. We are the fire. But I can live with Ogres. What I'm really looking for is a fire polar though- have you seen someone called Incenjucar? The azer seems to have missed the burning being in the corner |
| Silmarien Aldalome05-31-04, 07:33 PM | Originally posted by Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow "Deception?" "Me?" The probability that fires are stilled in the Inversion Plane is increased by the presence of unrestrained fires here. This duty would be of great service to my people." |
| Azer Firelord05-31-04, 07:50 PM | Molth Kul follow's Omega's gaze. "Ah, a pity, I had hoped to learn of the fire polar's plans. But no matter, there are others enough here. As for summoning him, if I could summon a fire polar, I wouldn't need to be here! The Fires, you shall have. The Azer gestures at the embers left by Incenjucar, and they roar into a healthy flame. He smiles in pleasure. |

"As would I like to know of those plans." the firelight dances off the faces of the assembled people. Omega mutters under his breath quietly and the air begins to shimmer noticeably, where Azer's fire stirs. Omega's voice shifts to guttural, halting, harsh tones, and his aura turns to Azure - and seven burning sivery runes appear in circular formation around Azer's fire. As you look closely, you can see a 'thinning' of the world bounded by the Seven Symbols - and something else. Something unfathomable: a maelstrom of forces, and structurelessness, where you would expect to see structure, and then order where you would see chaos. You go dizzy momentarily. Omega grins - he says "my Homeplane" |
| Ogre4Hire06-01-04, 07:39 PM | Is it just me, or is this place getting weirder than a kender that puts stuff back in your pocket? |
| Ogre4Hire06-04-04, 10:55 PM | Well, I was going to invade Britian, but it seems like everyone's on vacation or has a board meeting today. (OOC: If you can tell me where that's from, I'll give you a cookie!:D) |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow06-06-04, 03:18 PM | As you look closely, you can see a 'thinning' of the world bounded by the Seven Symbols - and something else. Something unfathomable: a maelstrom of forces, and structurelessness, where you would expect to see structure, and then order where you would see chaos. You go dizzy momentarily. "I think I have a beach-house around there somewhere..." |
| Ogre4Hire06-06-04, 10:51 PM | Well, since nobody appears to be paying attention anymore, so I guess I'll set the place on fire... The big ogre pulls out a flask of Alchamist's Fire... |
| Silmarien Aldalome06-08-04, 05:51 PM | [GM-Voice]Hi everyone. It's a great achievement to have gotten an RP this far along. It's exceptional to get a multi-thousand post RP thread. In my experience, threads of all kinds progress to a natural point and then ebb or halt. Remember though - threads never die, they just rest. I'd recommend either starting another thread, or beginning a new initiative. It was really interesting to read your posts and quite a fun thread too. Some of the longest life threads at WotC are really very simple and have a very very basic structure. Does anyone know the "or" thread at Rec Room (not that we can do that kind of thing here). But - something just as simple, with an RP basis and "Guildish" basis would also be very appropriate and welcome. In any case - if you get a sudden burst of inspiration - please continue the RP here. If not - take care, along your way, and go well with whatever you do. Else - feel free to join in other Foundation initiatives here. Regards Stav [/GM-Voice] |
| Graz'zt, Prince of Shadow06-08-04, 07:26 PM | A tall gentleman steps out from behind a pillar as the rest of the group freezes. "And with that, the Great Sigil Fire of 2004 begun. By the time the Harmonium and Guvners (with help from the Xaositects, on a whim) managed to contain the flames, it had consumed over a third of the city." "It is believed that the fire originated here, in the former location of the Fortune's Wheel. The ruins have been combed to discern the cause of the fire. So far, all that has turned is this (holds up a bag stained with blood and filth) which appears to the mysteriously well preserved remains of a flayed ogre." |
| kliate06-08-04, 07:37 PM | Random Halfling speaks: "So the Lady flayed an ogre who was holding a torch and dropped it into a barrel of alchemist's fire that was on top of a natural gas pocket during a particulary dry day in a field of tall grass?" EDIT: Kliate climbs out of the ashes (thanks to fire resistance being built into his glammered armor!), guts the halfling and starts to eat. Kliate: "The only thing that comes conceivably close to an annoying human is a crazed halfling that talks too much..." |
| Ogre4Hire06-12-04, 08:38 PM | The big ogre stands suddenly notices some writing on the side of the flask he is holding. "Safe for indoor use. Keep out of reach of children under three years of age..." What the!?!:uh-huh: I think I'll step outside and have a smoke instead. The ogre stores the flask of Alchemist's Fire back in his belt and pulls out a big, stinky cigar instead. For some reason, it starts to rain, and you think you can hear a morneful saxophone playing from somewhere in the distance... |
| kliate06-13-04, 12:14 AM | Kliate gets a headache trying to reconcile divergent realities, then stops trying. |
| Belgarion06-17-04, 08:07 AM | With a certain suddenity, a large insectoid suddenly appears in the middle of the street, almost bowling over Ogre4Hire. "I must apologize for my sudden entrance, however that is the only kind of entrance I am capable of...I am Belgarion by the way...a Dancer of Death unlike any that you have ever met." Almost without thought, Belgarion checks to make sure that his weapons are clear in their sheaths...then walks a few steps away from the rather large, wet, ogre...currently emitting a foul odor. "Do be a good little ogre, and keep your eyes open...I wouldn't want to open up a timestream and "accidentally" appear within your poor husk of a body...for it would not survive such an encounter." After several minutes of gloating, Belgarion opens a small portal, beyond is only the dark inkyness of space. He steps into it and is gone...for now. His voice echoes back: "By the way...I'll be watching..." |
| kliate06-22-04, 09:00 PM | Kliate sneezes, gathers his sharpening tools, gets up from the table, and walks around the room, with Spy in hand. He observes the occupants of the room tending to their own business and eventually decides to lean against the wall opposite the door he entered. With his whetstone and cloth, he begins to polish his claws to that 'proper shine' and eventually asks out: "Is there any place around here I can go for a good swim? This air seems a little dry for my tastes." |
| kliate06-27-04, 01:48 PM | Kliate starts carving a humanoid shape into the wall. |
| kliate06-30-04, 11:39 PM | Kliate uses the humanoid shape as a practice target, throwing his curvy dagger at it, checking his aim, plucking the dagger out and trying again. |
| kliate07-07-04, 06:44 PM | Kliate takes a nap in a corner. |
| kliate07-10-04, 11:15 PM | (Snores loudly) |
| kliate08-07-04, 08:58 PM | BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPP PPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!! I guess this thread really is dead. |
| Shemeska the Marauder08-08-04, 01:11 AM | Most of it hoped a portal over to the RP area on Planewalker |
| Nordom the Rogue Modron08-08-04, 01:13 AM | Um, I think you mean "hopped" Shemmy. One can't really hope through a portal. :D |
| kliate08-18-04, 07:34 PM | You've neglected the possibility of 'hope' being the gate key! |
| Prophet of Chaos09-27-04, 12:55 AM | The door opens with a rush of windliterally blowing in two wayward travellers. One is a small, black cat. The other, is a human male. The male is dressed oddly. He wears a turban atop his head and a dusty cloth coat on his back. His pants are ridiculously puffy and his boots unnaturally dirty. The young man, with eyes wide open in astonishment looks 'round at the assembled company. "Is this the World Serpent Inn?" |
| primemover00310-06-04, 09:34 PM | "Drat! I missed the party." The whipchord lean human steps in out of the everpresent drizzle of the Cage and steps to the Dragon head above the bar. Robed in simple, but well tailored gray robes the man's humongous eyebrows and mustache frame a beak of a nose and quick brown eyes. A medallion of bluish steel proclaims his membership in the Mind's Eye. "You there, good dragon! May I enquire the where abouts of The King of the Crosstrade? I have an entreaty from the High Seeker Ombidias for her perusal. |
| kliate10-07-04, 01:31 AM | The slightly gassy lizardfolk began to stir from his drowsy rest, looking up at the newcomers. "Humans...stupid humans." he muttered quietly, but audibly. The lizard than stood, dusting himself off, noticing that the sunlight - that was a sun, wasn't it? - was at a much different angle to the door than he had last remembered. Looking about, seeing the place nearly abandoned save for the bothersome softskins that just wandered on in, self-important as such creatures tend to be. "Kliate is my name - but spare your feeble tongues it's pronunciation. There are fineries to this name that you humans always miss. Now, bothersome creatures, I shall tell you out of kindness..." The massive reptile paused a moment. Kindness? "Out of kindness that I have no appreciation for your types. The moment there is gain to be had by it, your pelts will be my trophies - perhaps another polishing rag... Still, I feel much too rested and well fed to start hunting you now - what brings your kind to this establishment?" |
| primemover00310-08-04, 07:40 PM | "Eh? It seems the Multiverse tests me even on the most trivial of errands..." The wiry human looks up at the hulking lizard, a sly gleam in his eyes. "Good Kliate, a word of advice. Huffing threats and intimidation will only get you so far in the Planes. I have been subject to worse threats by fiends, slaad, Proxies and my grandchildren... You shouldn't always judge what you see as what you truly see. I'll let you ponder upon these truths whilst I continue my conversation with the good Dragon here. Lady's grace to you." |
| kliate10-18-04, 09:53 PM | Kliate stares into oblivion for a couple of moments "Arrogant, salt-smelling, fire-blooded, pale-browed, tender-boned softskin - if you really wanted your skin turned into a handbag, you could have at least said so in a polite manner. If you have a diety who you want your soul to run home to, you had better ask it NOW." Kliate's tongue began to dance around, and posture braced to shred the human if he took but a single step closer... |
