Welcome fellow Psychopaths, evil villains, paranoia masters and general Sadists.

Evil DM's from all around can unite here and discus stories, methods of creating paranoia. And most importantly of all,

THE HALL OF SHAME

Silmarien Aldalome - The Big Gaping Mouth

The hall of shame contains characters who have died due to their players stupidity. Post your story, with a title, and I shall judge it. If I deem it worthy then I will add it.

I gotta bit scared when I read your opening post. But - having taken several deep breaths - said my Hail Mary's and looking a second time at it - I think you're just having lots of fun....so - I'd like to add something to the Hall of Shame

Here's the most stupid thing I've ever done. It came from a dungeon called Tomb of Horrors, when D&D was known as AD&D and when Garry Gygax was the Master of All.....

Tomb of Horrors is an upper level dungeon thing, with all sorts of fell apparatus, evil things to gobble you up with, vats of acid, Iron Maidens, etc.

We encountered a "Big Gaping mouth - whose mouth is black as pitch and where no light reflects". Or something like that. Anyhowz: here's some dialogue:

Player: I throw a stone into the mouth
DM: It vanishes.
Player: I walk up to the mouth - and put my dagger blade in.
DM: When you remove the dagger - the blade is missing as far as where you put your blade inside the black mouth.
Player: Oh! It must be a portal. I put my hand inside.
DM: Your hand is now missing, your arm ends in a stump.
Player: Oh - then I'd better follow where my hand went to get it back. I walk inside the mouth.
DM: YOU'RE ANNIHILATED.

It was a Sphere of Annihilation.

Go figure! What was I thinking!

 You'd have though they could have tested it with a summoned creature at least.

I was dumber than that - everyone was like "whattt are you doing!" - the DM game me lots of warning (He's still a friend - this was back in 1982)I can remember his face - it was screaming "DON'T DO IT" - I really just don't know what happened to my reason!

OMG! I've been edited into the Hall of Shame list

I'm SHAMOUS!!

heh heh... actually Sil that was my "look-as-if-I'm-screaming-don't-do-it-whilst-hinting-that-you-really-should-do-it-and-will-be-rewarded" look ;)

works like a charm every time :D

hmmm, drake maybe you should put me on the list...

and Sil, your story is perfect for the
"characters last words" thread (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=206978&highlight=last+words)

Well...

I don't know if I'm evil *per se,* but I'd like to join anyway, just to freak out my players.

:schemes:  <-- Methinks these two smileys are gonna be getting a workout by this thread.

Is consistently sending the PCs into encounters with an EL of 2x their character level evil? If so, is it LE, NE, CE, or my fav type of evil: CN (tee hee)?

Last encounter:
--Kobold Sorcerer 6 (only needed three spells: magic missile, spider climb, and dispel magic. Couple it with Improved Counterspell and Reactive Counterspell from MoF and you have a situation in which the PC's spells are all denied).
--Wyrmling Blue Dragon
--4 Kobold Warrior 1s.

Party:
--Dwarven Cleric 3
--Human Druid 3
--Human Rogue 3

It didn't go too badly. They *only* lost 1 member (teh Druid)...
Orcy The Green Wonder

Orcy's games usually have characters that arent supposed to be fought but talked to. If you fight them... well, dont fight them. Orcy remembers them attacking Arcanus. Arcanus being an epic vampire lord... They all ran except the druid who ran a ways then had his summoned creature attack the vamp. Well.. he knocked the druid out with a lightning bolt then proceded to chop off his arm and heal him so he didnt bleed to death... yeah. So we had the armless druid running around. (better than killing him in my opinion, he can still cast one handed)

Then there was the lich with the fake Phylactery...

The white dragon with the gem of spell immunity: fireball...

The Skygge... in general (custom race of shadow beings that uh... are really bad to fight)

As for stupid player things... hmm...
Orcy remembers from a game we came across a skull with a buncha gems in it. So, one of the players, who was obssessed with getting treasure decides he wants to take the gems out of the skull... we yelled at him to stop then ran away when he didnt.

Then there was the player that went into the dark cave with a light spell on. After being shot at by what he already knew were goblins in there somewhere, he hid the lightsource... darkvision anyone? Then.. he kept moving. Well a pit with a spot DC of 5 is only really easy to find when you can see. So... the wizard keeps going and well.. he found it... but it was the last thing he ever found.

Lets see... Sleeping in the entrance room to a thieves guild that in a populated town and not some out of the way place and expecting to be fine for the night. That was another one from my players.

Orcy would continue with more but the thunderstorm outside doesnt seem to be a good thing to have a computer on through, so Orcy will drop some more in later.

Blaine Tog  - add these ones....

:behold: + :embarrass + :uh-huh:

Orcy - .....

DM: There's a big white creature, with long white fangs snoring on a huge pile of treasure.
Player: (8th level thief): I go up to the treasure and look for the biggest thing on the pile.
DM: Are you sure?
Player: I try to move silently as I take the item.
DM: Roll your DC check - at minus 10.
Player: I rolled 15!
DM: The Dragon wakes up....
The Swedish Viking

05-13-04, 04:42 PM
-the unnamed fighter-
Died because he wandered through the evillest part of the slums, wildly brandishing a filled-to-the-width purse amongst about fifty armed robbers.
The purse was filled with rocks. The fighter wanted to be able to capture on of them for robbery so that he could claim him/her as his slave/servant for a few years.

One of my fellow players was getting bored at the session one day (go figure, we hadn't had combat in half-an-hour  ) so he goes on a hair fetish...:smirk:

in the end, two PC's dead including him and the party's Paladin's hippogriff mount set on fire via his rope tether and a torch. Also, everyone in the party was either half, or fully bald. Such stupidity p.o.-ed our DM so much that he ended the campaign. Needless to say, this player was never invited back.
