A roleplay

All guilds recieve the same piece of mail, a small letter detailing the information about TFAIGGC.

All guilds must attend. The topic of TFAIGGC will be:

Alliances and Foes in The Interfoundational Guild Wars.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
As all the guilds have finally arrived, a shadowy figure decends down a staircase at the front of the room. This figure is easily recognizable as Kayne Shadowborne, Prophet of The Ultimate.

He tells those gathered infront of him that they shall use this time to interact with the other guilds and to form alliances with the other guilds.

"Commence"

I see I'm the first guest to arrive. Just to mention it now, I am representing both the GoUE and Council of Archmages, with the Academy and Unholy Despoilers part of both, and maybe the Blackstar Syndicate, since that issue never was fully resolved.

A cloaked figure walks into the room and finds a nice chair in a corner to sit in. He sits down and waits.
Kobold_Ur_Priest

11-10-05, 03:39 PM
Priest steps into the room, hood draw over his face, his serpentine arm swaying beneath the folds of his sleeve. His gauntleted hand extends a quick salute to his bretheren of the GoUE. "Hello my friends, I see a meeting is about to begin...." He sits next to Demonfey, his eyes darting around anticipatingly.
Blasphemous Revenant

11-10-05, 07:06 PM
Valde Immodicus walks into the meeting area, followed by his wife, Bellatrix, and 10 Homunculi. As Bellatrix begins making casual conversation with some of the guests, the Homunculi prowl about the place, scouting it out, and looking for any potential threats.

Valde spots Kelreth, and he makes his way over. "I would like to discuss some things with you, but I would prefer to do it in private."

Rough of the message.

Guild-Masters,

Your presence is required at the First Annual Inter-Guild Guild Conferance. You shall be able to work out alliances without being forced to play host to those you may not yet trust.

All guild members are invited.

While in attendance, the Lords of Tyrannor shall watch over your guilds.

The triple-seal of the Lords of Tyrannor is embossed upon the paper as the signature.

Kelreth nods towards Valde. Then looks out at the emptyness. "Well seems to be quiet a crowd"

Oh, yes. It's just bustling with activity, isn't it.
If implied sarcasm were money, I'd be richer than Bill Gates.

"Ya, makes me wonder why you all havent attacked them already in force, or why business isnt better."
Demonfey

11-14-05, 01:35 AM
Because it's so much fun to give them hope before crushing it.

Passing through the doors Arcanus walks in full armor with fine formal drapings and such. Behind and to the side walks Divinus, who also wears somewhat formal items, though his wild un-combed hair throws off the look. Taking seats Arcanus and Divinus look around the room, though their goals are quite different. Arcanus looks to see who has come and to think of possible negotiations and such, while Divinus is looking for women.
Demonfey

11-14-05, 12:21 PM
Greetings Arcanus and Divinus, and congratulations on being the first two that aren't evil to show up.
*Some confetti falls on them*
As current leader of the Council of Archmages, I would like to ask for a treaty between the Council and the Keep, to keep things even.

"I really don't understand why no one has completed the paperwork they've needed too. It can't be that hard, can it?" jagggar ponders, appearing at the top of the stairs, a hint of irratation in her voice. This time she is wearing a columbia-blue shirt with small white 'E' upon the left breast over a white shirt which sleeves disappear under leather and gold gauntlets, a thin black halfcape wrapped 'round her shoulders. She snaps, what Demonfey recognizes as a self-one disappearing from her hand as a quicksilver guantlet appears on it.

"B.j. said the b-word's a bad word, but I think she just doesn't want me telling anyone I think she's a b-bureaucrat sometimes." c.j. whispers loudly enough as to almost make people wonder why she's whispering at all.

jagggar gives her a glare that sends her dashing out of the hall before descending the staircase. "Now where was I? Ah yes, Because I am so nice, I've been working to condense everything into one simple sheet. The simplified guide shall be ready shortly."

"If you would look to either side of the hall," she motions to the three rooms on each wall, fine fabrics with the seals of the Lords of Tyrannor draped to create the doors, "these rooms are safe from spying eyes of all sorts beyond those of your dear Lords. Many apoligies, but you won't be able to kill anyone within them either. This is prefered to be a blood-free event, and I shall make sure no one dies here on my watch."

Translations: I'll finish simplifying it soon. You'll know IG as well as out.
The rooms allow for secrecy, but please, PM one of your loving GMs and give them a general heads up on what was said.

Orcy, Arcanus let the other guild members know of the event?

An eagle appears in the sky above, almost at the same time as a handsome elf wearing full plate mail appears in the meeting. He does not speak to anyone seeming only eager to watch what happens.
He gives a respectfull nod to Arcanus when they see each other.

He is folowed by two other elfs, one wearing a green cloak and leather armor and the other wearing the a red mages cloak.

After he enters the eagle begins circling the area above, almost like a patrol.

An woody elf walks in, followed closely by a dark cloaked half-elf.
The former moves to a more private spot as soon as possible, keeping quiet, his eyes darting about the room.
The latter glances around, and acknowledges Crowley(I hope) with a smile and a nod, before finding a quiet place to stand.

Hirohito flies into the hall releasing his invisabilty as he enters. He lands on Arcanus's shoulder seeming to be at ease and have a dark look in his eyes.
"How fares your blood, Knight?"

OOC: Just so you know when Hirohito asks about your blood it normally means your whole body (are you sick, injured, whatever), mind (mad, happy etc) and sometimes even your soul (faith, alighnment, etc).
Silmarien Aldalome

11-15-05, 04:55 PM
There are three flashes of silver and blue and a sudden gust of wind, carrying with it, the smell of springtime blossoms and melodic wind chimes.

The first is a woman, dark skinned and green eyed, her cloak radiant with living energy falls about a woman wearing a hip-and-chest-hugging outfit. She is adorned in blue and silver, as is the wont of not only the Pereldar, but also the Drow of Eilistraee, whom are also the kindred of Silmarien.

Silimna's piercing gaze wanders around the room, as she finds you, pausing to measure your character. You feel her warmth and fealty - those of you who are good and some who are neutral. When she finds the evil gaze, she smiles, grimly, barring her teeth, just slightly, before tinkering with her Holy Symbol at her side. The naked form of Eilistraee glints briefly and leaves an imprint upon your mind. The promise of care or pain, depending on your wont.

Out of the second flash of Silver and Blue stands a half-elf. But he is also clearly, of Elven and Drow blood as well. His eyes are the same shape as those of his mother and his mother's cousin, and his hair is a raven-black colour. But, it is his skin tone that hints at Drow heritage, for he is as olive as one from the lands where the sun shines hot, yet not so dark as his mother, who, herself is a shade lighter in skin tone than a Drow.

He is adorned with a blue and silver fabric, also tight fitting, and he is broadly build and hale of build. Health radiates from him in every nuance of his body and you can see sinewy muscles that contract to his body movements. He is extremely agile, moving with grace beyond that of a cat.

On his cloak, you see s leaf is stitched of blue and silver thread.

The third form shimmers in a wavering, transparent image. It is the Hooded One, leaning on a staff. You can glean little from the impression.

Silimna says "No pain of death or worse and no arm of the Damned or Evil will gainsay love.

The world will Live. It is decreed so.

Life's bretheren and Hale Hearts are called. Whose hearts are stirred to fire by the joy and grace of beauty."
Sargatanas

11-15-05, 04:59 PM
Sargatanas walks into the party pushing Silimna out of the way as he passes. He yawns and looks around the room before turning back to look at the drow priestess with a grin.
"Don't you ever stop preaching woman? I've half a mind to raise all your dearest relatives and have them form a conga line behind you. Now, wheres the living meat, I'm hungry."

When he "partly pushes" Silimna out of the way before "yawning" - Silimna grins.

She says to Sargantanas "Ever wont to use the same Voice as the Voice you criticise. In this, you are blind to yourself - and as yet - you have no inkling about what it is I mean - or what it means for the way you see yourself and the world you create for yourself."

Turning to Demonfey (Crowley?) Silimna says - "Why do you seek my cousin?" Varendil speaks, for the first time, his voice rich with Baritone, like honey, and with a teasing gaze "My aunt is never very far away - always in our hearts, wouldn't you say Crowley?"

She wastes no one's time but her own, anyone who takes the time to listen to her is the one spending their time be it wisely or wasted. As far as your patience, I don't particularly care so long as you remember not to spill any blood here."

She pauses, looking around at the guests. "As much as I'd love to remain here and join the banter, I must finish simplifying the forms. It seems I've actually had some assistants arrive and I must not waste their time. When I return, we shall straighten out the mess of who-owns-what district."

Mandos aproaches Slimma. He takes the hood of his cloak off showing a very tall elf, wearing a silver plate mail, and a bright blue cloak. He is carrying a large shield, with the shadow elves emblem once worn by the former knight of von drache, Drauguril. His eyes are gold-colored, and his long hair is bright silver. He is obviously a handsome creature, even by elven standarts.
He gracefully bows to her.

"You would like that wouldn't you..... You may think yourself to be ruler but you have delusions." Kayne looks down towards the rotting hand infront of him. He looks back towards his cup. In a minor magical effect, Kayne drinks the cup, squirel and all. When Sargatanas looks down at his hand, he finds a squirel sleeping hapily in it. Kayne takes the squirel, places it on the floor and casts a dispel magic spell upon it. He then procedes to shake the hand infront of him and whispers to Sargatanas "You will literally need to fight the gods themselves to rule this world. I should know...I'm one of them.'' With that he walks away with at smirk on his face and heads to talk to his COA friend, Aramar.

Silimna rises, planting two hands on the table before her, leaning forwards slightly as she speaks, looking at each of you, in turn as she delivers her message.

"An invasion of Tyrannor is in the making. Our people and our allies have gleaned several important matters, that affect our lands" Her face darkens at this point as she lowers her voice, almost to a whisper "Our surveillance warns us that the Undead come to hunt the living and supplant us with ravenous greed. An army of Undead to eat living flesh and to create us in its Undead image. It is an act that takes away Will and it is therefore, self-serving and it only sees itself and no more." Looking up at you, she then points out the window "all about you, will be consumed and you along with it.

It must be stopped.

Who stands with us? Your brave heart and unfailing courage is called. That Grace may guide our path forwards and courgage be our mantle.

My fealty I give to you who walks beside the living to heal the darkness."

"NOW they decide to do something. Now after the creatures have walked free for so long, building their defenses and growing stronger. Where was such 'courage' and willingness when we came forth to seek assistance? Sitting idley by and watching the creatures go about their business, talking of ways to fight instead of fighting. Following you, Silimna, will lead us nowhere but to a long drawn out discussion. The time is not for talking, it is for acting. There are none left that do not know the undead walk these lands. They must know, for the creatures have come to their homes, they have come to their doors and broken them down, stealing away the living in the night. You, are the only ones who have overlooked it thus far!"

While I love the casting of the Spirit Shaman, I don't have CD. I don't particularly care for its druid spell list.
Other than that, the OA Shaman looks a bit like a toned down Gestalt Cleric//Druid (which is what the character was originally).
And I also plan to show how you can play an oriental class without screaming "/\/\3 4514|\| /\/\3 50 (00|_" me asian me so cool

@GM
Is the finger a graft, or distinct to the rest of its body? Or any other relevant findings with rolls?

The finger is in the middle of Sargatanas' hand. It appears to be rotten at least a bit and it is being held up with it's back pointed toward you. While it could be Mordenkeinens mighty middle finger, it is much more likely a simple flipping off. Apparently the corpse man is suggesting that either you **** yourself, or that you **** off. Thats in character though so lets not get report happy ;).

Sargatanas laughs and grins again, turning toward the other evil folks in the room. He walks over and has himself a seat near them and shrugs.
"Ya see that, even 'gods' don't like me. Do I sme... stupid question. Ah who cares, nothing is going to stop us in the end. So folks which one of these loud good guys ya like better? I'd like to... eh... get to know the dark elf chick a little, but thats for another time. The Knight there has promise. Hes angry, he hates me, and hes smarter than appearing in a place surrounded by temple worshipers and trying to fight."

One of my people's probably going to end up a corpse soon, Sargatanas. He comes with grafts and whatnot. Want to take the body, since he didn't listen when I told him that he didn't have to sell his soul to a fiend to become a warlock?

"However, I sense fear in him. And as well in the drow priestess. That is why the former seeks so dearly to rally a force against us, and why the drow priestess talks of tactics against us. They fear us, they fear what they may become through us.

jagggar's bit on destruction was in response to Demonfey's question after Kayne's little speech.

Only if you see it that way. I, on the other hand, see destruction as a chance for rebirth, and have even seen it implemented as such, normally by being the thing its implemented upon. She paused, as though switching thought processes was hard for her. "Ah, as a forest fire clears the way for new growth. Yes."

"I eavesdrop from time to time." She tosses her self-one, which appears out of thin air, to Demonfey. "I believe you said you recoginzed something like this, no? Did you see what the people of that world do to their lands?"

cj 'poofs' out slightly upset that no one would answer her.
Demonfey

11-17-05, 11:54 AM
Yes, and that is why I don't mind the fiery purge. I actually have been the instigator of minor destruction. A forest that is growing too large to support itself, land polluted too far for anything but flame to cleanse, towns that have become hell on earth, since the fiends down below don't like the competition...any number of things. Also, death and rebirth seem to be a cyclical process for me. Thrown into pool of iron, last bit of my training as an elemental savant is completed as my flesh burns away and is replaced with fire and iron, for example.
jagggar

11-17-05, 12:22 PM
"That fire is part of the forest's life. It must happen so that the forest may continue to grow. But I don't often call that destruction for that reason - it leaves room for life." She glances at the undead. "Or unlife.

Just trust me on my work, alright? Garyx understands that if he destroys everything completely, he goes too, and while he may be insane from the winds of Pandemonium, he's not suicidal, and so he just burns the earth to its core when it needs to happen and lets the others rebuild.

Because it seemed so...natural in this case. Also, while I'm more powerful than average, I am still killable. It's just incredibly difficult compared to killing a normal person, or the undead, since I look at my weaknesses and try to compensate for them with items or spells. He won't be dead, but he will wish he was. I think I'll let you see it too, you can watch him suffer. I don't care. You are no threat to me, you are nothing but a puny little elf coward. You have nothing that can fight me, if you did... you would have used it by now. So you can stop with the games, you are getting nowhere. You've instilled in me no sense of fear, no dread, no worry. Because you are weak. Your people are weak. Your brother so easily fell. So in turn you come and prove yourselves weak and helpless. You've done nothing to make a name for yourselves. You've done nothing to get your brother back. You've made idle threats this entire time, and it amuses me. Good luck in trying to fight me, you will need it."

So don't be sayin I didn't. I can be reasoned with, but who among you would turn over a prisoner for nothing? Answer me that. Would you just turn over a prisoner you had because hes someones brother? Arcanus watches as Sargatanas makes more threats against Mandos. He leans back in the seat and puts his feet up on the table infront of him.
"For a corpse you have quite a bit of hot air don't you? You've made these threats, now carry through on them, or are you afraid? You know even with your army you cannot penetrate the defenses of Ghashmal Keep.

Now, Ashariana is an evil 'witch' that dominates the minds of others to do her bidding. We know that. Sargatanas is a walking corpse that wishes to turn his enemies into even more walking dead, while letting those that lie down infront of him live. That we also know. So lets save all this rediculoud insulting and ranting and get on with this meeting. I am a busy man and have many things to attend to before the day is through, and listening to the bickering of my allies and enemies is not my idea of a good meeting."

"It seems there is a clerk that needs slaying. He's given money to guilds that have yet to properly declair themselves. As such, my records are quite a mess. Now, tell me if I have this right.
Garshmal Keep of the Knights von Drache is located in the Sunrise Mountians.
The Royal Guard was located in the Horehound Jungle. Has the Temple of the Damned taken up residence in its place?
The Council of Arch-Mages conceal themselves on the Misty Island.
The Town of Bristol rests upon the Mendal Plains along with the Stormhand Federation.
The Merchants' Guild has of course set up in the Marketplace. Hmm, they've yet to have a representative arrive.

"And that's where my records become quite the mess. I need to know where are assassins have taken up, as well the Pure Good and Ultimate Evil and the kobolds as well. And if that Little Red cares to have people expand their minds, he needs to show himself as well."

That seems really low, and I'm questionin it here. I'll take it for now, but I don't see why its so low for something that started with 1,000,000gp

A figure walks into the meeting halls. He is in tatterred clothing and has on no rings, pendants, weapons, or anything that you can see. It seems as if the only things on him are litterly the clothes on his back.. He takes a seat not in one of the many soft and richly ebroilded chairs, but in a small wooden one that a servant had apparently left in the room by mistake. As he takes his seat he looks to everyone in the room at turn. He holds a profound look of saddness in his eyes as he looks to each person. It does not see that the amount of sorrow changes no matter who he looks at. He then bows, not dirrecting the bow to any one person, but to everyone in general. Raising he says
"Greetings High Members of the Nexus Material Plain. I am Gabrial the Ascetic of Stone Town. They have sent me to represent the Guild they have created within their walls."

A pale old man in black robes and leaning on a smooth staff of black ebony staggers into the halls of the conference. A tattoo in the style of the Red Wizards of Thay adorns his bald forehead, and his face shows a blank expression.

"For those whom are not familiar with myself, I am Aoth Grindelwald, Advisor to the Throne of Bristol. I come representing the Stormhand Federation, and to support Lady Ashariana.

"I do not come to stir up trouble, so please do not take me wrong," he adds, referring to the fiasco at Ghashmal Keep some time ago. He nods to Arcanus before taking a seat next to Ashariana.

If so, the Stormhand Federation has claims to the Sunset Mountains, Lake Radif, and Storm Peaks, in addition to its home of Mendal Plains. If there is any cost for the land, we are willing and capable of paying, and we would like to reserve the districts until the specifics of the purchases have been taken care of."

I think it was mentioned that, to get districts beyond the first, guilds must pay for them. One idea might be to charge 100,000 gp per District Level (50,000 gp for a 0-level). There might be some modifiers to it based on resources.

Sargatanas looks down at the man and then toward Silimna, who had obviously been telling him her 'truths' about him. Lifting the man's head up Sargatanas looks into the old man's eyes with his dead orbs.
"Your... close friends have been telling you lies. I do not slaughter people. I free them if they resist my rule. If negotiations can be successful, there is no reason to kill anybody. This world is corrupted, it is wrong. It is full of those that would cast others aside and push them down because of what they are. You see the disgust on the drow wench's face when she thinks of my kind? We undead creatures are not cursed, we are free. Free of the deaths that mortal men must feel. Not just that which is ultimate, but the little deaths, those things that men must suffer every day. I wish to bring others unto this realization. I wish to free others if they seek freedom. If I must kill to succede in freeing the world of it's suffering. If others stand against me, I will kill them. I will unite this world and make a mighty kingdom where NONE shall be outcast because of what they are! In death those who stand against me will be free. But those who accept my rule will remain as they are now, even if I do not believe it is a 'good' existance. I am more just than your 'friend' there. I do not cast others out. I do not cast others aside. I will create a world where all are the same, and none are looked down upon. If you want others to live, and others to be free of suffering and pain, to free the world of that which holds it down, that which makes it hurt. If you wish for others to live in a world where they will not be cast aside, then you are standing beside the wrong army. Though I may be 'evil' in your views because of HOW I go about my mission. The end is worth damning myself."

Arcanus nods toward young William and shifts his gaze toward Silimna. His goggles conceal his eyes for the most part, a red shine covering them from the reflection of the light. Stroking his long goatee he looks the drow woman over.
"Perhaps now we can discuss things in person. Rather than through messengers, and here we can avoid the use of some... questionable spells. As you know... Silimna was it? The Knights have requested an alliance, which you promptly turned down after meeting our defensive system. Again I will lay the offer out on the table. But know, that I will not lower the Keeps defenses and allow others who have malicious intent any chance at spying upon us."

You see one of Silimna's eyebrow's raise, but the rest of her face is inert, a stoic combination of angles and a resolute, uwavering promise to support an ally and destroy an enemy.

She looks squarely upon Arcanus and repeats '"Silimna is it?"'

She shifts in her seat, and the Hooded One whispers something in Silimna's ear. Varendil says "That is her name, but, of course you already knew that - when you sent your representative to our Guild.

We are not wont to mince our words, Arcanus. Our fealty is not given lightly - for once bestowed, our blade is true, falling only on enemy heads.

What you make of that is up to you.

We are not so desperate and afraid that we would ally with anyone - as would a hungry dog eat a scrap tossed to it by a cruel master. We must feel ready to trust you. At this point, we have no reason to. Our people have long survived by naught but our own cunning and our own methods. We will not betray ourselves for a need that does not exist or for need that is imagined. For the needs that are true - we share those with those we love and trust and no other.

Why are you wearing goggles?"

Silimna turns to Gabrion. As Sargantanas speaks, Silimna's face contorts into a look of disgust, before she exchanges a glance with Gabrion, then leaning over to talk in a huddle with her son and the Hooded One. The Hooded One chuckles and Varendil chews on Lembas.

Young William frowns. "Your terrible pride clouds your judgment. We are not asking for fealty. We are asking for cooperative friendship. Refusing cooperation puts yourself in an untrustworthy light, which is magnified by your whisperings amongst yourselves.

"But, why would trust be a necessary component? In the off chance we were to become enemies in the future, an alliance now would not make ourselves vulnerable to one another. It is quite obvious both sides wish to keep their own secrets. This is quite acceptable, all that is asked is that both sides cooperate with one another toward the goal they share.

"Your years in isolation have blinded your people to the current situation. The Evil forces of the world have allied one with another, and are working together for our destruction. On our own, we are overpowered and outnumbered. United we must stand, or divided we shall fall.

"If you will excuse me, I have spoken all of my thoughts on the matter, and have nothing more to add. I must retire to Ghashmal Keep, where my aid is needed to prepare for the coming storm."

Arcanus looks toward William and nods at his word. He turns to look at Silimna and her little group. Glancing at the 'hooded one' as he speaks.
"I was not speaking to you who hide yourself from the rest of us. I was speaking to the leader of the guild of pure good. Make no mistake that the allied forces of evil will destroy you should you cast aside our offer of alliance. Perhaps your predecessors were mistaken leaving a group who have spent their lives underground away from the world as leaders of an organization that has stood against evil for it's existance. It is obvious your personal beliefs are in the way of the guild of pure good's interests."

Silimna smiles. "You are ever wont to hot words.

Gabrial looks about the room taking it all in. He shoes away the Imp that has been resting comfortably on Aracnuses shoulder since the begining of this meeting. It flys away muttering a few mild curses and circles about the room.

As Gabrial looks upon the faces of all here he holds the same saddness in his eyes that they have held since he entered, but as he looks upon the Dark Elves you can see that the saddness is far more consetrated as he knows that he Elves' arrogance will be their downfall.

He keeps himself back though as it is not his place to interfier with the free will of others and though he has great saddness in his eyes you see the slightest hint of a grin on the corner of Gabrial's mouth as he hears and understands the meaning behind Crowley's joke.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

OOC: i warn you the following may be a little long winded, but it has to get a reaction from someone. :D

After being shoed away from his perch on Aracnus's shoulder Hirohito circles above the heads of all here and looks for a new perch. He wants one that will get people moving, get them talking, and mabye even doing something.

He had hoped to get a reaction out of the Honorable Knight Arcanas, but the thickheaded fool only ignored him. Wether Arcanus know Hirohito was there and felt that if he ignored the Imp he would fly away in time or if Arcanus was so oblivious to his surrounding that he didnt know the Imp was there Hirohito is likely to never know.

At last Hirohito finds a perch that he is sure to get a reaction from somebody! Surely by landing there someone will do something! Circling his way down Hirohito lands on his new perch and makes himself comfurtable. It reminds Hirohito of his first master. Though this one is no wizard and, though rumers say otherways, is certianly not evil.

Yes, he had chosen his perch well, both his master and this wench had the same feel of hair, the helt the same race and gender as well. Perhaps in a past life they were one and the same, but no matter Hirohito had chosen well to use one of the Drow women's heads as his perch.

After hearing Sargatanas' reply to his words, Aramel rises from the floor, a pained look on his face. He had seen this kind of evil before-the kind that truly believed it was fullfilling some great and noble cause-and it was unquestionably the worst. Looking into the eyes of the undead lord he says,

"It saddens me to hear those words from you. Simply know that your conquest of this land will be met with resistance. Not only are you condemned by all that is holy, but he land itself will rise up against your twisted and corrupt form. To my last breath I will fight you and your army, and you will be defeated."

BTW, even though the GoPG isn't done yet, Aramel does exist somewhere in the world. If you wanted to attack him or something like that, you can assume he is in the peaceful orchards at the moment. I'm working to get the GoPG stuff done as quick as I can, and I'm sorry you guys have to wait so long for a target.

Aramel walks away, returning to his friend Silimna to hear what other discussions are taking place at the conference. He listens to the exchange between the Silimna and Arcanus and as it progresses, he is compelled to offer his opinion, since things seem to be getting more unfriendly by the minute.

"Arcanus, do not fool yourself into thinking that the Guild of Pure Good needs your help. I do think that we would benefit from an alliance, but you assume too much when you say that we need you if we wish to stand up to the evil of the land.

Since it seems that we are having problems with trust at the moment, why don't both of our guilds go forward with at least a friendly relationship? If we do indeed share the same goals, then we have nothing to fear from one another. With time, we will be better able to judge one anothers actions, and perhaps an alliance will be more appropriate then.

In any case, I think our sharing of a common enemy should keep us from harsh words toward one another if nothing else. Such words will accomplish little. Why don't the two of you at least shake hands as friends, and we can proceed from there to see what comes of it?"

evil does not trust, it manipulates trust. Trust is the fundament of healthy, stable, long-lived alliances.

Need is the basis of fragile, labile, ephemeral alliances.

It wasn't meant for IC discussion, it was meant to reveal Grindelwald's thoughts.

Grindelwald sees "trust" and "love" as basic principles of life, that go beyond Good and Evil. "Trust" manifests in even the most simple forms. When creatures ally one with another, whether because they are of the same pack or whatever, this is because they innately "trust" each other. Grindelwald defines "trust" as a quality when a being does not see another being as a threat, but rather believes that other being will benefit it. Even for solitary creatures, they must "trust" themselves and their own abilities.

"Love" is the manifestation of trust. "Love" is an action one being takes to benefit another being, or it can be an action it takes to show its "trust" in another being. When a creature displays affection for another, it is "loving" it by putting itself in a vulnerable position to that creature, thereby displaying its "trust" in that creature, and its belief that the creature will not take advantage of its vulnerability to harm it. Solitary creatures "love" themselves by taking actions to benefit themselves.

Note that these are not my own personal thoughts on the matter, they are Grindelwald's.

I want a fight of epic proportions, here, a fight that will go on mmy list of most interesting fights I've been part of. Trust me to be maniacal, trust me to be insane, obscure, and sometimes a little too overly complicated in my plans. Hells, trust me to not make that much sense most of the time, even. Just get to a new argument, at least! I defend Arcanus because earlier, he showed me that he is mortal and has flaws, and that he has embraced this to try and better himself with it, while you have merely sat around and talked about what you can do to make yourselves a little better prepared, while he has been prepared for a while.
Also, if you are going to ask him about the goggles, you might as well ask why you still have an imp on your head.

Silimna, stands, with her hands on her hips. She swooshes her hair over her shoulder and says, looking at Arcanus

"Are you going to just let him represent you and your views like that all night? He's beeing doing it for days, and I'd have thought that you'd be very uncomfortable letting a multiple personlatiy, evil.....thing....with an Undead graft or something equally vulgar, with an eye in the middle of its head, and wish to take over the known universe.....

would not be in your best interests."

Hey, while I may be evil, I am at least honest with myself. I personally don't care if you're good, or evil, except for rapists and necrophiliacs who I prefer to just kill out of principle, I just care if you judge others due to what they are. And it was yuan-ti, beholder, maug, and fiendish grafts you were thinking of, by the way.
You realize there's still an imp on your head, right?

You only wish for your own good and seek not to help others. I have extended my hand in trust, and you have turned away and said it was not good enough. You have no right to speak about trust and love. You've shown neither. You have done nothing but make accusations and talk. Your talk is over, and I'll have no more of this useless bickering. With that, Silimna rises, bows at Arcanus. She gestures to Gabrion "be sure to advise us of your Will on this, Ilmarin." Varendil then rises, and he, Silimna and the Hooded One huddle, one last time.

Orcy The Green Wonder

11-26-05, 02:49 AM
Arcanus sheaths his sword and waves the glass away before returning his seat and table to their upright positions. He sighs and seats himself again.
"Even in leaving the woman shows her distrust by suggesting that the Knights would betray an ally. I begin to wonder why I've even sought an alliance with that one. Now... what is this business you speak of Dragon? I've had so many visitors to the Keep lately I do not remember half of what I should."

Arcanus places an arm around Jagggar as she sits by his side. Seeming to not be bothered in the least by her pressence. He looks the dragon over and nods.

"She's not particularly right about hate being love and fear. Well, actually I haven't even thought of that possibility. But hating does at least mean you care. Indifference, now that is evil."

OoC: Arcanus wins the Pride stakes - it's in the challenge to the Duel, two pages back. See below.

Arcanus stands quickly, his chair flying backward as he pulls his sword from his back and flips the table that rests infront of him.
"You DARE to insult my honor and suggest I ally myself with those vile tyrants!? Hear my words drown scum, there is no chance for an alliance between our peoples. You preach about trust but have none yourselves. You sit here and make wild accusations that have no basis in reality. You live in some fantasy world where you can never fail and never die. I would not give you a waterskin were you dying of thirst in the desert you scum."
Pointing his sword toward Varendil, Arcanus growls.
"Honorless and actionless scum. You sit idle and make accusations against me. If you have any honor in your body, you will meet me in the arena and defend yourself for your words. I would cut you down where you sit if this

To stand on one's dignity is to insult the thing that one felt touched something too true to be accepted as true.

About Hate:

We only hate the things we fear, not the things we don't. The saying, you become what you hate is also another byproduct of it.

Before the Hate, there is usually something else - admiration, love, a wish to be loved by the object or being we hate.

When we are rejected, we get angry - and we hate. The saying hell hath no fury like a woman scorned tells us the same tale.

It's very revealing to say "I dislike 'x'" - it's tells us about you, more than the thing targeted by the judgment.

Yeah, "it" things, maybe, not "personal" things. "I dislike blue" doesn't mean I fear blue. But, "I don't like your friend" - there's a lie I'm telling myself when I say it.

I always become embarrassed when I say it "I hate so and so", because I know that I can be seen through, when I say it. I'm saying something about myself. I'm revealing the parts to you, in myself, that I haven't owned, or that I can't bear to accept.

I'm always suspicious of it in others, when I hear it in like kind.

"Herein is the first Treaty of the Trans-Guild Federation of Tyranor" she coughs once, "in draft form. Speak ye, of its wording, that all goodly beings can partake of its benevolent strength and protection. We must strike agreement on its contents - its structure and form. Speak thine Will."

She unrolls a parchment and you see silveryblue runes flare under the lights in the room, the fiery runes etching themselves in your mind's eye.

The Treaty of The Trans-Guild Federation of Tyranor

Preamble:

The Treaty of the Trans-Guild Federation of Tyranor enshrines trust and fealty as its two core principles. When resolving differences of opinion, the Signatory who best respects trust and fealty in what they seek or what they do, they uphold the spirit of the Treaty

Bill of Rights:

A Signatory of the Trans-Guild Federation of Tyranor earns the protection of the following Rights:

The Right to Speak Openly with any or all other Signatories;
The Right to Expect Never To Be Lied to;
The Right to Restitution when Betrayed by a Traitor who was once a Signatory;
The Right to Kinship with other Signatories;
The Right to Seek Succour from any Signatory, when in need;
The Right to Protect, Serve and Uphold, any Good Being in Tyranor who is in need, in the name of The Treaty;
The Right to Strike Down any Evil thing who Breaches the Social Crede (i.e. anything that is Love in Tyranor), in the name of the Treaty.

Well, I'd say it's hard to decide who's really what between the two of them. Too many offers of alliance were somewhat cryptic. We could take it to the Neutral guild and deconstruct it. . .

And maybe we should take love and hate there as well.
See, I'm not particularly sure that it does include love and fear in all cases. I've never been particularly fond of rapists. . . Of course, on the other hand, I am still trying to figure out if I actually hate him.
And yes, 'I hate spinach' is definately different than 'I hate [person, people]'. Like the way you say 'good dog' the dog isn't particularly morally correct (in most views which involve moral good & evil, and let's not try to add D&D's celestial dog in), but you do say it anyway when the dog does something pleasing.

about spinach, good dogs, colours and liking or disliking.

Sometimes, even, disliking 'it' things also reveals us. We're big store houses of the past, while we create the future. The past is like a big momentum on our way forwards. If we don't see how the past affects us, we bedoom ourselves to repeat the same mistakes.

Arcanus sighs and shakes his head as he reads over the treaty the elves have presented.
"How I wish I could live in your illusionary world. In reality there is no way a nation can stand without any secrets. It is the same in this war, I cannot give you all my secrets, and thus must lie at times. You cannot believe that the world is so simple that allied nations can speak all truths, we are not gods. Your ideas of 'striking down any evil thin that breeches the social crede...' is a bit alarming as well. Killing something because it does not follow your own social standards? That is not 'good' not in the least. We cannot simply kill something because it acts in a way we do not like, but rather we should fight to protect the people. It should be our mission to defend them, to keep them safe. It should not be our mission to destroy everything that acts differently."
Arcanus looks up at Jagggar's shades and nods.

But I find it distasteful to discuss how good or bad a person is, whether they are real or not.

"Might have ta get myself some of those. But I'm a fan of the red."

"And who would want to kill something or harm it, if it does not harm another? Silimna looks at him quizzicly "Look, your comprehension needs a bit of work there, to be honest with you. What's been said isn't what's in your words, on the Treaty.

To re-frame it all for you those things struck down are those that parade under the guise of good and who harm others. Or those things that do evil acts, and who do not resepect others.

It's really quite simple. Nothing is said about anthing else. Certainly not anything about taking someone's morality away from them, or whatever wierd stuff you said.

The rest really was imagined - by you, not by me. There's a great deal of 'illusory thinking' there if you ask me."

The Hooded One chuckles. She incants and a Lembas wafer appears in front of you. Varendil grins.

"Things in the manner of which I've said can easily be infered from your wording of these terms. I will not sign a doccument that would associate me with insane ideals of killing everything that goes against the ways of good. The knights fight for the people, not to rid the world of all evils. If there is a threat to the people, the Knights shall respond. But we will not go out to hunt that which 'breaks the social crede' which is not one of love, but rather tolerance. I don't love you, not in the least. I tolerate you and your people. So apparently this social crede you write of is not one based on love, but rather of tolerance.

Now, let me say that you must be the rudest and most insulting creature I have ever dealt with. Even Crowley is more respectful than you. You have done nothing but attempt to veil insults, sometimes not even veiling them at all. You have brought accusations against the Knights and you have done so much to show distrust and apparently a great dislike of my Knights. You should do what you preach and show trust, try to show this 'love' you keep ranting about. I begin to wonder which of you is more delusional. Sargatanas or yourself."
Arcanus takes the Lembas and throws it back in Silimna's face. Spitting on the ground he gives her son a glare and pats his sword.

"Well, there is the invitation in the draft document, Arcanus, to 'hammer it out' as it were.

We are not foolish enough to imagine that our allies wouldn't want a say with the Treaty's structure"

Musing thoughtfully, the shimmering form of the Hooded One suddenly comes forth. The voice is disguised, by vibrato and by the melding of what sounds like more than one blended voice.

"About secrecy, you are right, to the extent that we can never know everything there is to know about one another and that not all things should be known. I do not want to know what you eat for breakfast, what you talk about with your wife, or friends, where these things are about your private relationships.

However" and an arm is raised in the air, and gestures in your direction "if you were trying to convince me that were I, for example, to conspire against, you - and then keep that secret from you - that this wouldn't threaten an Alliance?"

Varendil looks bemused, but also pensive as he cups his chin in his hand.

"Secrets also damage where they remove choice from the other. If by keeping a secret from me, that I am denied a choice, then the secret is a threat to my relationship with you. For example, if mine husband was seeing another woman, and thought it was in mine best interests not to know what he was up to - well - that would be a falsehood and a folly - and done only for his needs and for his sake, not mine. I want to know what he did, so that I may use my right to abandon the marriage, mine husband and to choose to be with another. Those choices are denied me by his secret and he is only being selfish by not telling me - he wants his cake and to eat it too. That kind of secret - nay - it shall not be.

It is in the kind of secret that The Treaty must speak to - to be clear."

She did not take it seriously - and thinks it's dumb to get precious about it by needing to prove herself with more adolescent sparring. With a snap of his fingers, Crowley manifests some paper and a pen. With it, he writes a contract that goes something like below, except with fancier wording. He then signs and hands it to Gabrial, who also signs it. Here is what it said in a clear, concise form:
"We, the leaders of the Guild of Ultimate Evil and Order of the Giving Hand, do agree to these following rules:
1. Neither side shall launch an attack upon the other, directly or indirectly. Rogue elements may end up causing friction, but will not be considered as showing the full will of the guild that this element is made out of. If said rogue element is caught by the side it supports, it will be dealt with according to the severity of its crimes.
2. A citizen of the GoUE's land is a citizen of the Order's land as well, and vice versa, meaning that if they break the laws of that land, then they will face due punishment for those crimes anywhere in Deeping Quarry. On a side note, all medusas must wear something to stop them from accidentally petrifying people around them, preferrably gazeblind goggles.
3. The Order of the Giving Hand will not provide sanctuary for sworn enemies of the GoUE, and vice versa. Neither guild will hinder the movements of the other.
4. The GoUE will help in the construction of Stone Town, in exchange for GoUE goods that need to get to markets being allowed in Stone Town caravans. The GoUE will provide guards for the caravan, and said guards will be punished if they decide to cause trouble or leave their posts.
5. This agreement can be amended, but only if both sides agree to it.
"We, the leaders of the Guild of Ultimate Evil and Order of the Giving Hand, do agree upon these rules in exchange for the Dual ownership of Deeping Quarry. The exact lands within owned by each are to be desided upon on the date that all of Deeping Quarry has been explored."

I am the efficient type of evil, the one that's secure in his own power and evilness and doesn't feel the constant urge to prove it, although he may have to remind some people from time to time about it. I don't go into monologing or psychotic dreams of conquest. I just plan what I will need to wipe out my enemies, and do my best to arrange for it to come to pass. Where some villains would kill a person with a slow moving device into, say, a pirahna pit, I just cut their heads off with a sword, or snap their necks. I try to also remember an old saying: "An evil man will gloat, but a good man will flat out kill you."

You've done nothing but talk about how you can fight them instead of doing anything toward that cause. You've done nothing but talk. Your family are cowards, hiding themselves away from the evils of the world with talk while others die for it. I do indeed seek to fight against the insults you ENDLESSLY throw at me. You are scum. You do not deserve to hold the title of leader in your guild, and these negotiations are over. I will look foreward to the day I have to kill the mockeries the evil beings form from your flesh. If only because it could have been prevented if your damned ignorance could have been overcome."

"No - let's make it easier for them: why don't we just kill each other right here, in front of them and spare them the need."

And before the sentance, Kayne forms from the shadows at silma's feet and calmly places a hand on her shoulder. "Now there will be no need for that. And not that you could anyway" With that, as a demonstration, throws a dagggar at jagggar, and laughs as it passes straight through the body. And with that melds back into Silma's shadow and reforms across the room and begins a casual conversation with Crowley.

Aint it Arcanus, not Incanus? Aint ya ever get a name right?

Orcy has all the guild's stats finished, and hes wanted to get inta fightin. But since the combat rules are bein changed, there aint a lot he can do there, can he? In game, Arcanus has done a hell of a lot more than Silimna. Who has only appeared to make a half-assed rescue attempt then disappeared into nothingness before this meeting. Just a buncha spells that won't ever be approved because of that vivomancy stuff. So yes, I'd say Arcanus has done more than silimna, and I'm the bad guy.

Silimna just laughs. She turns to Varendil and says "I can't fixt that. It's just broken.

He wants us to be responsible for my feelings, his feelings, the world's feelings and he wants us to save the world - but then hates us when we act as well. While he says 'do something' he sits back on his laurels and does nothing."

Varendil rises and says, looking at Incanus, as he prepares to leave.

"Someone said, earlier, 'your judgment is clouded by your personal feelings'. Well, to be perfectly honest with you, if you want a duel, under these circumstances, I question your judgment.

It would be an act of self-gratification to give you that, and I don't have that luxury. While we spar like children in the arena, proving this and that point to each - making a beat-up of the damaged pride to save face - we leave people who count on us vulnerable, exposed and open to assault.

Wrong.

You want your duel - you get it when the war's over, and not before."

Silimna, the shimmering hooded one and Varendil suddenly disappear in a flash of blue and silver.

Which is one reason I don't quite feel we're ready to dismiss the conference. We're taking things like benevolum off the map. We're trying to decide what to do in reguards to resources. we're actually pretty productive at GoPG. We've gone to nigh 1000 posts, from zero activity. Most of the posts are comprised of good bases for discussions and product. There's a summary URL list, and I see the Guild as a place to discuss good powers, concepts and so on.

I'm looking forwards to building the concepts further. I've hinted to you that a selection of our materials are to go to the materials for review thread.

As for its location - that's being discussed as well. I've pointed out that Premier, Gabe, and myself and several others do actually discuss the direction of the Guild, PM.

Also, you and I need to keep developing the Winterleaf, and covert concepts - and surveillance stuff. That info is in our in-boxes, but pershaps could be re-visited.

I know, it just seems like the thing a pyro evil villain would do, especially if he knows that there will be little chance of finding the guild without it.

I'm going to declare my plan IG now.
Silimna, you have a week to declare where you are before I initiate Operation Trogdor. This will involve burning everything that isn't currently under the control of an evil guild or the Silent Breath and Blade to the ground until you come out of hiding or we find you. The souls of those killed will be trapped and used to fuel spells and enhance the dirgibles and Wyvern, and thus be destroyed in the process. Make your choice.

A baritone laughter resonates throughout the chamber, like spring rain on a wooded hill.

"It will need more than that to destroy all the love in the world."

Three flashes of blue and silver erupt, right behind Crowley, and Silimna taps him on the shoulder.

"Why do you care so much, Crowley?"

You can see the hint of a smile and green eyes from the hooded, shimmering form....

Because, Silimna and Silmarien, I know what I will have to do if I want to make sure that the GoUE survives in this world, and one of those things is to eradicate the GoPG and settle this conflict between the symbolic forms of good and evil once and for all. If I must once again burn a country to the ground, I will. It will not be the first time, and it will probably not be the last.
Jagggar, you asked me why I believe I'm evil. It's because I am willing to do this, and have done it before. The kiddie gloves are off.

jagggar by now has shifted into what was Arcanus' chair. She sits sideways, her legs hanging off of one arm while she rests her back against another. She reads the note delievered by dagger in its entirety and it emits a small puff of smoke. "The Guild of the Orient has claimed the Wooded Highlands."

Wouldn't a better term for someone 'evil' be, someone who puts no limitations on themselves.

Thank you. I have much work to do. One of them is to hunt down and destroy that wretched elf wrench. Denrik said, walking though the wall and outside.

Elf wrench? Is that sorta like a monkey wrench? :thinks:

Elf wrench? Also, you may want to wait on that until after the first bombardments, to clean up. Garyx will need sacrifices, after all.

@jagggar

The Hooded One incants - studying your Aura - looking to see what you wont is.

Detect Alignment (it's being done, RP way - Silimna/Sil wouldn't know).

"That is why you are not a discussant for our Treaty." Silimna turns twards the representative from the Guild of the Orient. "What of thee, woman warrior?"

So you've decided to not heed my words? Very well. I will order the strike earlier. Denrik, convince Sargatanas help you and then begin with the Peaceful Orchard. Burn it to the ground and scatter salt into the soil. Then choose a direction. Leave guild lands for last.

The warforged that challenged you to a duel earlier set it up, if I remember correctly. His name is Denrik.

Well, when I ask people about her, I can get answers ranging from CN to all of the evils.
PHB states, "A chaotic neutral character follows his whims. He is an individualist first and last. He valuse his own liberty but doesn't strive to protect others' freedom. He avoids authority, resents restrictions, and challenges traditions." Not so much on the challenging tradition, but most the rest of it fits pretty well.

She asked and wonders because from what she knows of Crowly, they aren't all that different.

You have yet to see his work. If this doesn't work, then the next bit is to bring all survivors that can be found and having a mass burnt offering to Garyx in an attempt to bring him to this world.
@Sil: since you teleport about, I'm just going to say he just turns to face your characters whenever they teleport about.

why not tiamate? or all of the evil dragons? and can the gms block off the connection to the astral plane so those who can teleport are stopped from going to one place to another with no blocking?

Kayne watches as the symbols on the move oncemore. Ladies, Gentlemen and... others I would likea to inform you that marks the end of the First Annual Conferance. Alliances have been made and destroyed, as have enemies. But unfortunatly, the guild of hall decorators and dwellers has requested we move out, as it is there predetermined time to use this hall. And with that, Kayne is gone.

OOC: Most of whats to be said has been said. If you need to say more put it in the metathread, PM it to the people involved or arange for meetings of the boards ;) .
