| Frostbite_Ravenheart05-14-04, 06:31 PM | Hello Lord and Ladys of Toril and welcome back to the Harper Foundation! [Will Insert Old and New Harper List later] Howver I am not sure how up-to-date it is or if any of you will be comming back. All of you and everyone else who wants to join is invited. Now I know there were three thread-keepers and I have recently been talking to tae, who is drawing a picture for my character and I know he would like this foundation to come back and I also got the head nod from ava, the other threadkeeper, to remake this here. Now I really really dont want to have to deal with two things at the momment: A complicated or even simple yet frusturating ranking system or a long Faq. Call it lazy, call it lathargetic but meh... I will however create a small FaQ for you: Who are the Harpers: The Harpers are an organization based in the Northern Region of Toril. They are pretty much on the side of good, however what they consider "Good" and "Evil" and how they deal with "Evil" are questionable. But...I dont want to be Semi-Good I want to be Good: Well the Harpers would overthrow a LG yet courrpt human king before they would overthrow a LE orc cheifton who treats his men fairly. However if such an Orc would dare attack that LG kingdome the harpers would defend. Hey can I be outright evil?: No. (Sends a couple harpers out to stalk the evil one) So the Harpers are wicked cool fighters...Why do they have such a bardic name: The Harpers are majorly made up of Bards, Rangers and Paladins. While there are priests, druids, fighters and wizards among other things the harpers are generally spies/scouts/informationgatherers with the occasional "in your face" attitude. Where can I learn more about Harper History?: Well this is a place to talk about and create ideas about Harpers in general. However if you have a specific question about there history you can always of course ask me or another memeber here. Orginally thats what foundations were for...for people to post all about the generally same topic and not have to worry about too much spam. That and amoung other things...However you can also get the book [Will Insert Harper Book Once I remeber] which is a great book but it it is 2e sadly. Do you guys have any confourms like the CoA: Sort answer: Yes, However we might be getting new ones so basically I dont want to talk about that with you until I talk about that with the Confourms Host, ava. Welcome back to the council all, -Frosty |
| aravilar_holistacia05-14-04, 06:38 PM | Hello all. Welcome to the Harper Foundation. ;) And a big thanks to Frosty for restarting it. :D ((Frosty, back in a bit; I'm kinda in the middle of something. )) Old thread: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=125636&perpage=30&pagenumber=1 |

For all of you that dont know Ava is the Orginal Poster but as he went away for bits of time me and Tae, whos a brillant artist, kinda "took over" or as we self-invited "Theadkeept" and it kinda rolled on like that. and just a bit of advice I recently heard for a "special somone" outhere "Dont steal, the government hates compitition." -Frosty |
| Silmarien Aldalome05-14-04, 10:08 PM | "...Verily - this place recalls the former humility and glory of our healing work on Toril. What a joy to see thine hand take to this task Lord Frostbite_Ravenheart. I can think of no-one more well-suited to the task than thee." Lead us Liege!" as she bows |
| anglar05-14-04, 10:35 PM | Slinks into his usual corner, hidden within the shadows, and waits for more of his "comrades" to return from whatever missions they're at. Thinks to himself how the Moonstars would be such a better fit for his personal outlook on life, but Knows that Rh'iel needs him here if the Drow are ever to be accepted as a race. |
| Ouroboros05-15-04, 09:29 AM | "Frostbite_Ravenheart remove the numbers before the red wizards of the unaproacble east see it it first. " The dwarven abjurer puts a cloake over the member list hurry change it! |
| Frostbite_Ravenheart05-15-04, 10:10 AM | Its not the memberlist... its the old members list. But I guess I Should remove the entire thing eh? -Frosty |
| Silmarien Aldalome05-16-04, 07:46 PM | Actually, fellas (ozzie drawls), if I recall right, we can have numbers here - as long as they clearly don't designate "high this me and not you" sorta stuff. Hoy-thar Orouborus! Great to see you. Sil EDIT: Frosty - how do you want to develop the Harpers here? |
| Frostbite_Ravenheart05-17-04, 08:39 PM | I dont want numbers... I dont want it being a ranking system. We wont have titles either unless Ava or tael shows up and requests them. Other then that we are all equal harpers and even I am more of a "partner" who organizes and keeps people in check. But seriously these old harpers need to come back. Prehaps a topic would do. I cant remeber our old topic and I am too lazy to go find find it so I shall make a new one: Should The Harpers Turn "Neutral" in the ways of the world keeping everything in balance and peace? An odd question but think about it for awhile - it may be more complicated then you think. -Frosty (Sil - I dont understand your edit...) |
| Silmarien Aldalome05-17-04, 09:16 PM | Good question Frosty. It depends on what you mean by "neutral" as a starting point. The D&D idea take on alignment, is (arguably) not that well "aligned" (pun intended) with how these things tend to work in Faerunian Lore. In our world - Yin and Yang (kinda a "neutrality" idea), for example, do not mean that someone stands by and allows harm to come to another - because this is "balanced by doing good". Similarly, animals aren't "evil" for hunting and eating food such as rabbits and so on. In terms of Harpers - one thing that comes to mind is that they are seriously into "harm-avoidance" and "making happiness". Their interests seem to be in the channelling of magical powers into Torilian life - to foster growth and humility in civilisation and so on. I imagine they have a good measure of wisdom. So - in summary - just some thoughts - me no know - but enjoy discussing.... stav |
| anglar05-17-04, 10:52 PM | IMO, the Harpers should keep their NG outlook on things. Truly, it's the best way for them to keep "balance" in the Realms. Think about it. How many organizations in faerun are dedicated to "evil" purposes. Zhentarim, Hands of Glory, Cult of the Dragon, just to name a few. Then you have the Curch of Cyric, Thay, and the Shades to contend with. Calimport isn't a nice place to visit. Now, name all the organzations that go over the Realms to promote "good" that isn't the Harpers. Chosen of Mystra. Well, they usually either work with the Harpers or are too busy with the government they're running. The Purple Knights only operate in Cormyr. Drizzt and Co. usually only deal with the problems that find them. |

I guess this means “intervening” at points where harm is being imposed upon people or the land. This seems a fairly solid basis to operate from – and one consistent with a Harper ethos. But - Frosty – I was curious about your ideas about Neutrality (did I get that right). What was it you had in mind? Regards stav |
| Frostbite_Ravenheart05-19-04, 08:25 PM | well the idea of neutrality was that...if there was a courrpt king...the harpers overthrow him. If this king had put millions of gold into the Tyr church and had killed many of thousands of evil goblins in crusades yet was courrpt...being truly in the middle the harpers would kill or prehaps simple over throw that king. They are kinda like a Cg - Ng - N organization as I see them. But if they were to be definded specificly... -Frosty |

Did I read you right here. You see a three-pronged morality inherent to Harpers - i.e. room for some variability? stav |
| anglar05-19-04, 08:53 PM | It's thinking like this that caused the split that later turned into the Moonstars. I guess it'd come down to a case-by-case basis for me to give it my support. |

Characters who share alignments can be just as difficult in how they share space.....*chews on lembas cookie thoughtfully* but yes - for non-shared alignments to work in the same space - there are some "protective factors" that help...."fairy dust" if you like *chuckles* IC: Sil pops in and brings some gentle encouragement to the sparring counsellors..... 1. an overarching ethos for bringing the group together - sorta like football.... 2. processes (prolly democratic) for attaining an outcome, when groups are divided.....votes, yada yada.... 3. Enlightened presences amongst each group..... 4. strength of character - to tolerate differences of opinion. The courage to enjoy a good "sparring" of debate - that doesn't get personal. Having said all that - "schizms" in IC-Mode make really interesting plot-devices.......the moonblade one being really memorable. warm regards stav |

| baerdith05-25-04, 01:51 PM | Is this EVER going to be right again? The foundations have lost SO many members. The Harpers had what? 40? 50? members, now we are apparently down to 5??? Does Wizards WANT us to discuss D&D?? |
| Frostbite_Ravenheart05-25-04, 05:02 PM | Hmm i've been waiting for ava to show. Guess that Gold Elf is getting too aragant to be seen with harpers. Its alright though  I did want to however restart the roleplaying and forc...diplomatic recruiting while starting a topic but I need ava for the roleplaying...need all of you for the diplomatic recruiting and I will decide on a good topic: What Do You Think is In the Harpers Near Future? Happy Postings -Frosty |
| Silmarien Aldalome05-25-04, 05:47 PM | Hi Ho Baerdith - OK fellas - I won't have any of this "gloom and doom" stuff. What you have here - is what you make of it. First of all - Mr Weasel - good to see you and welcome. Next off - Frosty - if you want RP - you need to lead us Oh Great Foundation Keeper. Set the tone, set the mood, set the scene. The answer isn't "in" someone else - whether that be Ava or anyone. The "answer" is within you. Roleplay is about personal risktaking. You, being a Shakespearean person - might want to think about reaching way down deep and letting the RP-Poet person out of the locked box you keep him in. You have five members - which over a one week period - is pretty darned good. Of the old Harper's members - about 2 were posting in the end, the rest were blow ins who blew out as fast as they blew in. The Old Harpers vanished off the face of the threads. Now - my reasoning says that dry old D&D discussions about Harper thingies, without a "Flavour-Context" won't be that astounding or inspiring. I see you're onto that with the question you've just asked us. It's time to think about that guyz. New Future Suggestions Only A guild of Orators, a guild of inspirers, risk-takers, poets, Wizards, Truth-Speakers, and Story Tellers. A proactive, happy, community. Masters of Healing. Crafters of New Lore. Competitors in an Inter-Thread series of competitions. CoA have a "within-thread" spell competition. What about a "Bewteen Thread" one. Who's to stop you going into other threads as Harper Ambassadors - on Inter-Thread missions. Frosty - add your stuff in. warm regards stav |
| Valis Moonlight05-25-04, 09:41 PM | Good Evening all. I'm new to this group(hopefully you'll accept my presence). I'd say I like the idea of Harper ambassadors going into other threads and representing the group both through the knowledge they impart to others and in their conduct. Some of us have been doing this all along(nods to those who came before me). I also like the concept of an equal gathering of minds, no ranks, titles, numbers, etc. We all try our best for the good of everyone.Everyone has valid ideas and someone shouldn't be discounted when they are ranked 3,785,879th just becuse the 4th guy doesn't agree. In my experience, Harpers fight for the good of everyone. If theres an injustice to be fought, they are right there trying to fix it.I agree with the good tinged neutrality of the group. |

Valis - You've just became my new best friend, I couldent agree more :P. Sure your welcome to join and I humbly accept your presence. Silm however...I would like you to explain yourself on this ambassador biz. I have a fear we will devlop the same reputation "real" harpers do. As the Zhent saying goings "Please dont kick under the table during our chess match...The harper under there dos'nt like that!" (Oh and Ava you've got a day to respond before I lead this foundation on my own. I cant wait forever for a late mans concent ;) ) -Frosty |
| Silmarien Aldalome05-25-04, 10:19 PM | Welcome aboard Valis Moonlight - you're beyond welcome! *turns to Frosty* says "See....."Post and they will come" Everyone has valid ideas and someone shouldn't be discounted when they are ranked 3,785,879th just becuse the 4th guy doesn't agree well said Valis - I see us as a "Meritocracy". A meritocracy is a system which is a skills-based model. "If ya got the skills, ya the one for the job" sorta thinking. I would like you to explain yourself on this ambassador biz It's just an idea. It might be connected to a "cluster" of RP threads at Guild House. These threads - which have their own "house-rules" - might also receive representatives from other Threads. Much like The Voice of Sauron, who visited the Dwarves at The Lonely Mountain, as Gimli explained at the Council of Elrond. Frosty & Others - your thoughts! |

| Sssargoth05-26-04, 01:19 PM | Origionally posted by Frostbite_Ravenheart and I will decide on a good topic: What Do You Think is In the Harpers Near Future? well, leting evil creatures that want to join, for our difference of opinion on subjects would be an idea. becides, we could get the rest of you into places that you would have no chance of reaching on your own, while your on covert missions. anyway, Im just a lonely young psionically gifted red dragon, whos only real companions are the members of my psionics foundation:weep: |

We dont discriminate...as long as you dracolich or or zhent...you'll fit in fine! For the roleplaying...I want to activie the old confourms but they droped out of my favorits. However be free to post your characters. There will be no CR. I cant say a CR without discluding ava...well at least I am too lazy to type 1 and a thousand 0's. :P. Just keep it fair. Also Ava - My school gets out a tad bit latter than yours, one trys had NOT to think about upcomming finals. Aodamnded town is short of money. School is getting out three days earlier. They however also switched finals up a tad bit closer in my school too :( -Frosty |

Ok well since ava has all but droped out and I am not yet prepared to run a site I am going to do somthing crazy. I am going to think and think and think of what my password was for the old harper fourms. I was an admin or moderatore or somthing there. But for now the setting is: There is a large yet hidden fortress in the High Forest. While this "fortress" doesnt belong to the harpers themselves it is one of the Outlaws bases whos leader, Frostbite, is a harper along with several more of the Harpers. A great attack is about to be sprung in the north. It seemes everyperson with a patron god is having strange dreams about an attack...all pointing north. You guess you have around a tenday before the great evil reveals itself. However you have also noticed an increase in goblinlike activity...who seem to always have an extra cleric on there hands for some odd reason... It is not the harpers self-appointed mission to try to stop the evil where it is before it is too late. Even though some fear it already is. Ok that should be very, very freeform for you all to devlop your own plots and then interweave the plots by the time I figure all this messy stuff out. -Frosty |
| Silmarien Aldalome06-04-04, 10:57 PM | Hi there Sssargoth, Mr Weasel, Frosty, and all! @Frosty - it's your Foundation my friend - with or without RP it's all good. I'd suggest a bit of both - or as Tenzhi says "a post is a post" so - whatever works for people personally. The Counsellors Convene - to discuss the problems of the north and what this might mean. For ever is the Shadow at work, and where least expected. For Shar grows strong again, accumulating Dark lore. For she longs to return to the state of Nonexistence that she came from, 'ere Ao created the Universe.... Sil ponders events of the North as she leans over a Tome at the Council.... Sssargoth - The list of powers is fantastic - can you describe them a bit more in words - psymet, psykin and metacreate. I'd like to discuss those with you and the others. @Anglar - "Greetings Master Goldstems." Sil smiles at Anglar. "Sssargoth speaks of some strange new lore in a beast out of legends. These powers are beyond the ken of magic - of the mind. What say you?" @Bait - greeting Baitster - |

I'd like to discuss those with you and the others. Ah, I forgot to expand the disiplin names to their full extent. Well, here they are: Psychometabolism (psymet): these powers have to do directly with the body, Psychokinesis (psykin) has to do with manipulating energy and taping into the power of the mind to achieve a goal, and Metacreativity (metacreate) has to do with creating objects, creatures, or other forms of mater. I hope that is all that you were wondering about Sil, if not, please let me know. *chuckles* "Magic of the mind, eh? The only beings that would call it that are the creatures that cannot even fathom their own existance. Unlike a master of the arcane or divine arts, who are limited in the amount of castings they have each day, I may manifest my 'spells' as many times as I want in the same amount of time." In response to frosty "I'm the great evil to the north...and the whole goblinoid thing has nothing to do with me. Honest" P.S. I'm really a dragon, it's just that the five headed cromatic b**** cursed me to look like a hooman, with no way of chainging back |
| Silmarien Aldalome06-07-04, 11:42 PM | Very Psionics Handbook of you - and very cool. ...The Arcanist studies Sssargoth. "We shall need you in days to come, for the Wyrding of the Psionicists is a Lore that protects you from Magery. The Underdark threaten as always. And the Harpers are yet not united." Sil turns to Frostbite "Come Lord Frostbite - share your lore with us". |
| Sssargoth06-08-04, 12:33 AM | awwwww, thanks Sil. I made a spread sheet for listing psionic powers, and it can be modified for spell sheets. ...The psionic Red looks around at his shorter fellow harpers "If a safe haven is necesarry, I could create one with one of my most powerfull 'spells'. All I would need was a week on the astral plane. If you wish for a more immediate meeting place, I could bring all of you to my home plane......just expect to be very disoriented when you get there" he continues to watch the others, especially the elf... |

I would have to spend 8 hours each day for an entire week, doing nothing but eating, sleeping, and manafesting the power, similar to making a magic item. It can not create life, or constructs, like buildings and dungeons. those have to be imported or made from the avalible materials. Creating the demi-plane its self causes a local density fluctuation on the Astral plane. It would be a very bad idea to manafes Genisis on the material plane, because the energies from the power would be cancled out by the energies of the origional plane. The cancilation of such energies creates a dead zone on the origional plane." |
| Sssargoth06-24-04, 11:21 PM | It seems that we have another threat to deal with. Another guild, known as the Baldors. I have scouted them out, and noticed that the founder believes himself superior to us, dispite that he has no members. We may want to watch them, just in case. this is a very creative :bump: |
| Ankheg06-25-04, 12:26 AM | Hahaha, thank you so much for your hidden supplies of invisiblity potions, they are coming in handy right now as my allies are hidden. Mwahahaha!!! |

| Ankheg06-25-04, 10:27 AM | About those potions, umm, they were kinda being used and my people started to uh, uppear? So they took some more, we got enough. |

The Monkey sits opposite the cursed invisible Harper - and sil sprinkles flour in the air to locate the missing member. The monkey chatters while the invisible Harper fans flour away from the face and coughs with all the dust. "Mystra's gifts are many" sil chuckles. |
| Ankheg06-25-04, 11:40 PM | You missed a whole lot. I was in a battle with what-his-name the red dragon and barely got away with a quickened telepotation spell but starved as I missed my place to teleport and landed in my cage of torture and starved to death. You may look at the post on the Psionic Foundation to see my new character. |

| Silmarien Aldalome06-26-04, 10:11 PM | @Ankheg Hi there Ank. Great to see you. One of the scouts of the Harpers saw the newcomer, Ankheg arrive from the wilderness. A small point - that slowly grew more visible. Ankheg was visibly travel worn when s/he arrived and had clearly spent many days moving between worlds. Sil senses the well-intentioned spirit - and smiles as she sees Ankheg take food and drink at the Harpers. She turns to the Counsellors and says "Behold! From far and wide they come to the call of the Harpers. For - though the world is dark and filled with hate in some corners - not all is fell. For true spirits will find support and aid when they seek it. Ankheg - we would Name you here amongst us - but 'ere we do that - tell us your story. Thence - I will name thee as is fitting of your history [GM-Voice]If our Threadkeeper remains absent - I'm going to start another Harper thread - or get someone else to.[/GM-Voice] |

| Ankheg06-27-04, 12:12 PM | Long ago, I was born into a group of slaves to some illithids who were going to sell me when I became 13, but a war broke out between to small groups, and my current owners died and my chains were broken. I begin running for my life, as well did the others, but they died in our scramble. How I managed to get out undetected is a mystery to me. Once I reached a small encampment of daring adventurers, I hid behind a rock and eavesdropped on their conversation. They were talking about a group named the Harpers, poeple that were out to save others and do good. Along the way to the surface, a single drow saw me, and started to come near my person. I took off one of my shoes and threw it as far as possible. When he was distracted, I crawled out of the hole of the underdark to Fearun, and instantly found a place I loved. When I traveled, I came upon a small cottage that occupied an old man who used alchemy. He welcomed me into his home and fed me for about a month. As warmed up to the outside, I noticed his many incantations, trying to repeat them as he did. Some worked, some didn't. I left one day searching for the Harpers, and walked for about a week, using my small incantations to help satisfy my hunger. The man has taught me the things I know today, and I have tried different things than he, finding a magnificent power in my psionic type of alchemy. I closed into a town. I had never seen anything like it, huge walls, great big buildings, and a castle bigger than any tree I had seen. The place was amazing. Disappointingly, the people weren't. I found myself not knowing local knowledge and trends, getting into trouble with many people by saying the wrong things. Upon searching around, I found an inn, the Purple Worm Killer. I entered with high hopes, and asked a man about the Harpers, he said 'Who wants t' know?!' and blindly I said 'Me,' not knowing the consequences of what I just did. He tackled me and started beating on my face, and I blacked out. I woke up in a warm bed with a bowl of soup next to me. I was over-excited, and ate it quickly. I felt my head and found a bandage covering my eye to the back of my head. As I left the small room, I was astonished to see about 15 or so people in the room, all studying or playing a game called chess. I felt at ease here and closed my eyes to take in the moment. A man with something odd about him, later that I found out was named Sssargoth, came to me and begin to speak. 'Well, well, well, it looks like the sleeper has arisen', he began, 'how was your sleep, probably not too good with that nasty bruise, huh? By the looks of your shirt, you must've found our soup. Welcome to the Psionic Foundation, a place for people with wide minds. May I ask your name.?' Quietly, I replied 'A-a-a-Azgor M-m-m-m-m-m-Monia.' Sensing my fear, the man replied, 'Ahh, welcome Azgor, you are allowed to stay as long as you wish. You may go to Sil over there and ask her any questions you have about this place, I have to go take out a nasty guild leader.' Leaving, I walk to the one called Sil. 'Ahh, the Harpers, they lie to the west, and I shall meet you there.' At the blink of an eye, she dissapeared. I asked for a compass, and they gave me a small coin, saying it 'Meant I was psionicist.' I thanked them and went on my way, until I found a lone castle with a good feeling about it. I thought to myself 'This must be the Harpers. Although it was dissapointing, it was not the Harpers, but a guild of paladins. I made some holy water for them and gave my best wishes, saying that I too was a paladin, but of a different sort. Finally, I saw a sign in a town that 'Harpers,' but only after I entered did I realize it said 'beware' underneath it. There was a man trapped in a cage, who started to go crazy, or at least it seemed. I ran out after he said 'Sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrr rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgoooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooottttttttt ttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttthhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!' After searching once again, I saw a guild house with no name far off in the distance. As I came closer, I realized that this was the Harpers, and Sil was standing out in front, as she told me she would. And that is how I came here. |
| Silmarien Aldalome06-28-04, 12:28 AM | @Aravilar - re "community" - it's good for the soul to contribute positively to the well-being of others as well as one's self. "....Verily, our egalitarian standards here - are well fostered by further good-will directed at the community Aravilar." Sil chews on a piece of Lembas and muses thoughtfully to the Counsellors "for the joy of being a Harper lies in rewards that most are not able to see. These intangibles are the invisible forces that give us cohesion as a group. Without this - we are at risk of succuming bo the forces of Shar - whose Adepts infiltrate all layers of Faerun. Do not heed Shar - for she will appeal to vengeance, and shadowy rage when you are most vulnerable to it. At that - Sil bows when Ankheg is nigh - and she hands him/her Lembas. "Welcome to our halls Traveller" At that - a gong is sounded - and some lamps are lit. A seat is made for Ankheg at the table, and as s/he tells the tale of escape from the Underdark - there is are several low-grade gasps from the several Harpers. Sil turns to Ankheg when he is finished. "Our halls are for your recovery and you are welcome here. Your journey back to the Lands of the Living reminds us why Harper work is all the more necessary. What news of the Underdark do you have - for they are ever a threat to safety in our Realms |
| Ankheg06-29-04, 07:36 PM | Not much I'm afraid, I was often sent off for tasks they were to lazy to do themselves, but did here them talking something about a big brain like thing, and something about 'Gathering the forces.' I hope this information helps. Man, I'm good, I thought that whole story up in 10 min. |

| Silmarien Aldalome07-11-04, 11:56 PM | Be Welcomed Otus - and RogueBFL. Yep to both questions. An hi there Ankheg. ....inspired by Birth - Kedi's words resound through the mind. For Sil is now a parent of twins. And in birthing the newborns, Great Magic has become possible. For the fusion of Birth and Magic is a reminder that Necromancy is overly focussed on Death. There is a side to Necromancy that is Life-Affirming, and Kedi has named this New Force. The first of these powers has become known in the New Lore of this world. For, as the children arrived, Sil was transported to the Otherworld, where Rh'iel, goddess of Half-Elves stood by, and where the surge of Life-Affirming Power was shaped by Intuition alone in the Moment. This sphere of Power exploded out to Eternity at the Speed of Light as the Twins were born. And through all matter did it pass, unhindered, and unweakened by distance. Two Spheres of power they were. One pulse for each child. An explosion of Pereldar-Blue: Azure fused with Silver that is the Power of Stardust. Therefore, Silver-Starfire Lore has come to the Lands, and none, even amongst the Wise, can foresee what will transpire from this discovery. And from the airs, it was seen as a flash that passed through all the Lands, even mountains, before vanishing into the skies and over the horizon. Thence, and from above the atmosphere, as a living bubble below, the exploding Spheres passed through the entire planet, and then off to the Stars and to Infinity. And Lo! Those from the Planes, claimed it passed through all the Dimensions also. Thus the Silver-Starfire of Life-Affirmation passed through multiple Dimensions, including the Prime, all at once..... BTW - all - are welcome to attend Half-Elven Foundation where the Twins have just arrived. Regards stav |

It's not exactly inviting in many ways. I saw someone speaking about their vow of obedience on telly other nite. It was interesting what he said - that this Vow has provided him with the foundation for his international care work. I guess one can adapt it as a vow - to make it more symbolic and less literal: e.g. Obedience to Truth, or Obedience to Loyalty - etc that sort of thing. Kedi came up with Harper Assassin - which was a corrupted and covert type of Harper (designed to disunify the Harpers). Frosty - I'd love to hear a bit more about what Harpers actually do in Faerun. regards stav |
| Frostbite_Ravenheart08-19-04, 06:53 PM | Ahh Yes sorry all. - I've went away on vacation for awhile while u were all posting and then you guys got all silent when I came back. Than the whole CoA thing popped up...ironic thing - I offered to be Threadkeeper there and I'm not even doing my job here! *Trys to ignore the evil glance for sil  * Anywho enough of my excuses ____ In my own words: The harpers are a semi-secret organization with the main purpose of overthrowing tyranny. They are a very chaotic organization with little structure or even structures all together. There is only one actually harper building, however I will have to dig up its name later and edit this post, and most other harpers just act off of the aligned churches and such. Now what exactly do harpers DO? Well let me explain the so-called "ranks" of the harpers. 1. First you have the common people-harpers. These harpers don’t wear a badge and know few other harpers except maybe there other [lets call them lesser hapers] and there own [lets call them Harper agents.] The purpose of them is to be an unseen eye, one who doesn't search for things but one who keeps an eye and an ear [and a noise] out for suspicious things and than reports them to other harpers. Such as a stable master might go through horses packs and look for anything...usually. If he notices two broken zhent-made blades next to a hilt-less Thayan blade he will know something is up. 2. Second you have your harper-badge wearing agents. These are the 1-12ish level people who act as the hands and hammers [:D] of the harpers. They are the actual spies in the court, they go to places were others can't. Most of the Rangers act as deep wilderness scouts going places most wouldn't in the name of the hapres. The bards actively use propaganda to get people to keep there mind about justice and freedom. The fighter might serve as a bodyguard to a harper friend, ect ect. However they are also the ones that go on missions unlike the harper regulars. When that stable master reports those blades to her harper “boss” that “boss” tells a high harper or might take things in her own hands and tell a harper agent to go check it out or find more leads. Or he might just recruit the harper agents to help them find things a little faster. 3. Third you have High Harpers. These are the “generals” of the harpers. They general have special powers given to them by the [many] patron gods of the harpers. In Third edition I guess they have a prc located [Here]. Most Harpers are Bards and Rangers. However you can find them among every class. Wizards/Sorcs Clerics/Druids also play a very vital role, although there are fewer of them. Rogues aren’t as popular in the Harpers as bards and share some of there ability’s. However there’s been more than one Harper assassin. The Harpers are what we might consider the CIA. They knowing gather information, yet train very few agents themselves instead using volunteer informants and its Illegal/Against there Ideology to use assassins, however both have been charged and accused of using them. Later on I will try and post -The Harper Gods and Human Founders. -The High Harper PrC, and the -Name of the Harper building. A very great sourcebook to get and the only all Harper source is a book called “The Harpers Code.” While it may be second edition the only three things that might need adjusting are the Facts/Stats of the Characters, The idea that High Harpers are more PrC then Template, and the magic items might have different costs. Other than that, how the harpers operate, who founded them ect can be easily answered. It has several “The daily life of a harper” depicting variously harpers day-by-day activities and all the things a harper agent might do in a year ect. A very great book indeed. -Frosty |

| Nilliom10-20-04, 09:26 PM | I have a question about the harpers and the moonstars. I have a group of PC that I would like to enter the harpers and work as agents. What I'm wondering is how likely that a group of 4-5 PC characters could be allowed to enter the harpers. If this cannot be done, how do you include harpers in the campaign. I means, the only way I see is that one PC join the harpers and "use" the other PC to achieve the goals of the missions that are given to this lone harper. Do you have any idea of a group membership would work, if possible and otherwise what would be the possibilities. Thanks |

| Frostbite_Ravenheart01-09-05, 02:03 PM | All of a sudden your almost-forgotten harper-pin starts vibrating violently and you can hear a loud voice in your head "Wake, Rally and ride, war is upon us! The Harpers must gather or our very existance is doomed! The forces are darkness are growing stronger, the hour darker. There is not much time!" What has happend? I remeber a day and age when the Harper foundation was as active as the HeF and The CoA! Now the harpers are in a unique position compared to many foundations. Most characters will be dedicated but a single-foundation but this foundation is a much more loose organization and we are free to both wear our harper pins and live our normal, or rather regular lives! I hope that all the older members, and prehaps some newer members, of this foundation will be wearing there pins by the start of the war! -Frosty, Harper of Freedom |

| Lady Rolindin01-13-05, 09:18 PM | you might need to find all the other players and bring them bask to the threads. pm and i'll explain why. |
| Quarion Liadon01-13-05, 11:27 PM | I did not originally intend to participate in the IFWG, but I may change my mind in order to help out this foundation (as well as a few others). You can count my adaptable skills on your side in whatever troubles you may meet. If someone could PM me what has changed according to the IFWG rules since last time, it would be appreciated. I am very familiar with the previous rules, so I only need to know what has changed. |

| Quarion Liadon01-21-05, 07:47 PM | Of course I like playing with female players. And I don't mind a male who plays the occasional female character. I was referring to the queer breed of males who marauds as a female online. |

All contracts are considered binding by the Assassin's Guild. The contracting guild agrees to pay the Assassin’s Guild an amount determined by the Assassin’s Guild, which will be disclosed before the pact is made, and which will be paid upon completion of the contract. Half of this amount is kept by the Assassin’s Guild, while the other half is paid directly to the assassin performing the task. The Assassin’s Guild agrees to perform the agreed upon task during the month specified by the contracting guild. If a month is not specified, the Assassin’s Guild will perform the task within three months. The contracting guild may request a specific assassin to perform the task, but this increases the cost of the task, administered by increasing the cost Multiplier of the contract by one. The cost of this payment will vary depending on the difficulty of the agreed upon task. Following is a guide for the pricing of assignments. Assignments are classified into three distinct groups. Each group has a corresponding Base Price and a set of possible Mulitpliers. To find the cost of a potential task, multiply the Base Cost by the total Multipliers. A task always costs at least as much as the Base Price, regardless of Mulitipliers.Espionage:Base Cost: 5,000 gp Multipliers: +1 per article of information contracted for, if information is specific +1 per 2 months of assignment, if assignment is on-going +1 per 3 members below 10 assigned guild has +1 per 5 ranks of Sense Motive assigned guild's Guild Master hasSabotage:Base Cost: 7,500 gp Multipliers:+1 per target item, holding, etc. if target(s) are specific +1 per month of assignment, if assignment is on going +1 per 3 members above 3 assigned guild has +1 per 5 ranks of Spot/Listen (whichever is higher) target guild's Guildmaster has +1 if target item, holding, etc. is protected from dimensional travelAssassination:Base Cost: 10,000 gp Mulitipliers: +1 per 2 levels of the target above 13 +1 per 5 ranks of Spot/Listen (whichever is higher) target has +1 per 5 points of Fortitude Save bonus beyond +5 target has. +1 per 5 points of Will Save bonus beyond +5 target has. +1 if target is protected from dimensional travel +3 if target is immune to critical hitsContracting an AssassinTo contract an assassin for the performance of a task, an individual (acting on his own or representing a guild) must contact the Guildmaster of the Assassin's Guild in a private communication detailing the nature of the proposed contract. The Guildmaster will then respond to the contracting individual in a similarly private communication, detailing the price of the contract. If the contracting affirms the contract through a final communication, the Guildmaster will then dispatch an assassin of his choosing to perform the contracted task. A party may request a specific assassin whose work they know, but this increases the price of the contract. Because the name of the assassin performing a task is never given to the contracting party, they must describe any taks that the specific assassin has done to contract for that assassin. -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~--~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- |
| Frostbite_Ravenheart01-25-05, 10:34 PM | Thanks but no thanks. In America the Marines have a saying: "Every Marine is a rifleman" Here we have a saying "Every harpers a spy." We have no need for your tricks ;). -Frosty |
| Bait the Bard01-26-05, 04:44 AM | Some pathetic fool trying to be me? ;) :P Quarion, I'm not really participating on the IFWG's as such, because I don't find online dice-RP very interesating, and it takes up to much time. However, I will happily join in any actual RP, or if you want just give you general guidlines on how to RP well, which used in the right way become how I tend to RP (all evil, plotting, and the rest). ;) And don't forget to use invisitext, and that Frosty sucks. |
| Quarion Liadon01-28-05, 12:52 AM | That's fine. And "invisitext" actually shows up really well on my background. |
| Bait the Bard01-28-05, 04:52 PM | That's fine. And "invisitext" actually shows up really well on my background. Same on mine, and quite a few other people's. Sill doesn't stop me from useing it. |
| Frostbite_Ravenheart03-15-05, 10:48 PM | Fine. Learn the hard way for all I care. See what the world will be like without harpers! You know not how much we protect ye! -Frosty :hoppingma :hoppingma :hoppingma |
| Bait the Bard03-15-05, 11:08 PM | :mymy: But we do need to get something happening here ;) |
| Dyne03-16-05, 12:27 AM | Yeah. What would the world be like without Harpers meddling in everyone's business? :mymy: |
| roguebfl03-16-05, 12:01 PM | Yeah. What would the world be like without Harpers meddling in everyone's business? :mymy: Either very boring because they would not be needed, or very dangerous as the saying goes all evil needs to prosper for good people to do nothing. |
| Frostbite_Ravenheart03-16-05, 04:41 PM | :mymy: But we do need to get something happening here ;) Any ideas? |
| Lady Rolindin03-16-05, 04:52 PM | like the breath and blade has done in some ways, scout for new characters to join and get ehm interested in the organazation. there are a few characters who might be interested in joining your organzation. pm them and ask. you could have agents everewhere. |
| AngelDust Anderson12-08-05, 07:21 PM | Um, Excuse me is this where I can join Those Who Harp. Sorry if I am in the wrong place. My character is a human Fighter/Paladin of Freedom/Harper. He is a reformed Zhent who now believes that no-one is beyond saving. He worships Mystra even though he has no levels in any arcane class. He uses UMD through his able learner feat and also has many points in Diplomacy, Move Silently and Hide. Thankyou for listening -Anderson |
| baerdith12-08-05, 09:15 PM | Um, Excuse me is this where I can join Those Who Harp. Sorry if I am in the wrong place. -Anderson well, it WAS. A looooooooooooooooong time ago. :( |
| premier66612-08-05, 09:24 PM | well, it WAS. A looooooooooooooooong time ago. :( hmm... The board has been geting new mebers. perhaps its time to start anew. Lets hope Sil apears here and we see what we can do. (yeah I've never been on the harpers before, but I think its a good idea to restart them for the guild wars.) |
| baerdith12-08-05, 09:54 PM | but I think its a good idea to restart them for the guild wars.) God, does everything have to be part of the guild crap? I dropped out of a lot of these boards because of that. What ever happened to just talking about stuff???? |
| Dyne12-08-05, 10:20 PM | God, does everything have to be part of the guild crap? I dropped out of a lot of these boards because of that. What ever happened to just talking about stuff???? The talking about stuff still happens, just not quite as much as before. A lot of the old members from before the IFWG are gone, so much of the forum functions according to the "new generation." Speaking of which, I could probably become somewhat involved here. I'm currently playing a bardic character, and I've always been a fan of the class. |
| Frostbite_Ravenheart12-09-05, 12:18 AM | God, does everything have to be part of the guild crap? I dropped out of a lot of these boards because of that. What ever happened to just talking about stuff???? Thank you. I agree. Anyways, I'm the threadkeeper here by default as the other two have left us, one for good. I can hardly run the CoA but I will attempt to keep this thread stable and running if people showed interest in it long enough for me to pass on the crown of threadkeeper. -Frosty |
| gabrion12-09-05, 12:29 AM | Obviously I wasn't around to see the old days, where "talking about stuff" was the hip thing to do, but it seems like that still lives on to a certain extent. As I understand it, each guild (or thread if that's a better way of talking about it), determines how active it wants to be in the IFWG, so people who just want to discuss a particular theme can do that, while the people who want to kill eachother can do that as well. In short, I hope some of the old names realize that they are as welcome around here as ever, and they don't necessarily have to buy into the new stuff we are doing. |

Thats true. and I was only stating a opinion. I like the IFGW, and I like discussing about stuff. And dont see why we cant do both. Of course I wasn't aorund on the first IFGW, wich everybody say was a disaster. besides, any kind of life to a dead thread should be welcome. and this thread has been dead for over a year from what I can see. |
| Dyne12-09-05, 06:18 PM | Of course I wasn't aorund on the first IFGW, wich everybody say was a disaster. It worked quite well for quite a while. Then, we hit a bump in the road when several guilds declared all-out-war, and the thing popped. |
| Aramar the Black12-12-05, 07:13 PM | Would it be a bad idea to start up a bard's guild if this place is going to exist, or are the two different enough to both exist, and flourish? |
| Frostbite_Ravenheart12-13-05, 09:06 PM | Would it be a bad idea to start up a bard's guild if this place is going to exist, or are the two different enough to both exist, and flourish? Harpers and bards are two different things. However the two guilds could be closely allied and share many of the same members prehaps? -Frosty |
| TAFENERD08-17-06, 10:33 AM | does this thread exist any more |
| jagggar08-19-06, 12:34 AM | Well, the thread exists, and from a glance it looks like a couple of the members still post to some degree. Welcome to the Guild House, where posting is slower than the board upgrade. |
| Dyne08-19-06, 10:44 PM | Welcome to the Guild House, where posting is slower than the board upgrade. Sad, but true. :( Anybody up for a game of "That's My Wood"? |
