| Silmarien Aldalome04-15-04, 12:59 AM | Hi Everyone - WizO's and Posters alike welcome! This thread is a "for everyone" thread. We can use it when we want to communicate with everyone here at The Guild House and when we need to communicate with WizO's and vice versa about something that affects the game environment. When you have a question or if you want to have a "village meeting" - come along and drop us a line. It's different to the Council Thread - that thread is for mapping out our game world. This thread is more about "keeping open lines" between the Outside world and this World. |
| Finwe04-15-04, 02:10 AM | The first thing to mention is a simple thing: Wizzy's, why are you moving dead foundations? If nobody was posting on them, then why bother moving them? Somebody would re-start them here if there was still interest for it. |
| Tenzhi04-15-04, 02:52 AM | On the other hand, moving them here might rekindle interest in them... and if not, they'll fall off the boards as usual. ;) Personally, I'd like to see (and I'm surprised there isn't one already) an undead-oriented foundation. I'm not sure why I would like to see one, as I neither join nor start foundations, but I imagine it would get some interesting contributions. |

Actually there was the thought of not moving any of the foundations and just have the members open new ones. However, I knew some foundations like the length of their thread, and thus decided to move them anyways. |
| kedi04-15-04, 01:27 PM | Well, I have a silly thing: I didn't like the layout :P the message posting screen is as same as the pming screen. If we had the layout same as the one in rec-room... :D And I used to respect Paradox. Choosing finwe as GM? duh! :P Well, good luck GMs! kedster: Did you bring the spam-bombs kat? kat: Duh! I knew something was amiss! Kedi the bard: What about a new song? kedster: D'oh! [/homer] kat: :P Kedi the bard:  Kedster:  Silmarien, after reading this post: :behold: |

| sculyblast04-16-04, 11:43 AM | uhmmmm... if all death foundations are inclueded, why is there only one thread of Council of archmages over here, it would be better to have all the old threads of any foundation here as well, so you haven't go to all the boards to figure out where it was located first and you could easily look through the old threads and know where they where located sculy, I do not what you WizO's to be unoccupied :p |

Welcome aboard. Do you have any specific examples - have many of the Old Ones been left elsewhere? regards stav |
| Look Within My Mind04-18-04, 02:48 AM | Well, we are up to about the 6th CoA thread, and its the only one which has been included... so yeah. Also, a general tidy up would be nice. Some of the threads are getting extremly messy. Even if people could edit or delete certain posts which are not needed anymore would be good. Look Within |
| sculyblast04-18-04, 03:15 AM | ^ what demonbinder/ look within my mind said |
| Silmarien Aldalome04-18-04, 07:08 AM | - that's a lotta "archmage" material Look Within My Mind+Sculyblast. ....."trimming" - or - alternatively - "summary" Threads with all the goodies cross-referenced in URLs...... stav |
| aravilar_holistacia04-23-04, 05:00 AM | Originally posted by Silmarien Aldalome  - that's a lotta "archmage" material Look Within My Mind+Sculyblast. No, seriously. There was one thread before the new boards software, the Aimoo message boards, the Conforums message boards, and four threads here at the current boards. The CoA has tons of material. ;) |
| Frostbite_Ravenheart05-16-04, 08:54 AM | Hella my fellow mages, half-elves, bards and...Orcys...! I had written a PM to a GM about this but I have changed my mind and decided that it would be better to write it out openly. Now if you guys would notice there are three arcane foundations: -The Council of Archmages -The Casters of the Arcane -The Arcane Order now thats a lot of Arc for me. Now I have both read the descriptions in the first page and a few posts in all three threads. Each of the three threads say the same things. The Casters of the Arcane and the Arcane order both talk mostly about spells The Council of Archmages talks about mages in general but is having a spell contest. Now correct me if I am wrong but were not the foundations orginally made so that everyone could come together about one subject and brainstorm ideas together getting ideas from others My personal compliant is that its not like -The Magic Order -The Enclave of Druids -The Casters of Bardly Magic It all talks about the same thing: Wiz/Sorc Lvl _ Spells. Nothing else. Just the facts, -Frosty |

Nothing else. Just the facts, -Frosty Some boundary setting: 1. As long as there are distinctive features in the opening post the diversity is welcome. For example, CoA is not an RP thread. 2. As long as the Foundation Name isn't the same. There's the line. Other points: - we want newcomers feeling welcome, and for them to feel like they can develop their own initiatives. It's a Game Forum. We don't want to make it all too serious. - as an aside, I faced the same dilemma when I came to WotC. The Elven Thread was taken. So, I Half-Elfersised. There were clear reasons that the two threads were distinctive, including the ethos of Half-Elven lore that was underdeveloped in PHB. - So - if an Arcane Order wants to develop a distinctive *strand* of Research and Development, bring it on. For example, consider Netherese Magic versus Elven High Magic. One would not have the two, necessarily on the one thread. Ditto for Phaerrimm-related magic. So - to summarise, yes, there are some problems with the opening posts of some of the Arcane threads. But, two Arcane threads were imported when we begun here. I would like both Thread-Keeper's initiatives honoured. But, this is not to be rushed. thanx stav |
| Xen15512-14-04, 11:36 AM | SO, I think this thread might have some merit in the Foundation wars. I just wanted to bring it back to everyone's attention. I think maybe thasis or droga or that von guy might make good foundation leader..... just a suggestion though. |

| Droga12-14-04, 05:57 PM | Um...have you not seen the Risen Dead foundation? Look at the date of his post. Then look at the risen dead foundation. I don't know if this was posted before or not, but its quite possible. This is a pretty old thread. |
| Dyne12-14-04, 06:01 PM | Yes, it was posted before. This thread was posted before I even arrived at the boards, and I saw the rise of the Risen Dead Foundation (pardon the pun). |
| ChaosEvoker12-14-04, 06:02 PM | Ah I see. My appologies for my ignorance |
| Lady Rolindin01-06-05, 08:55 PM | when a foundation is dead how long does it take to fall off the boards? |
| king_of_evil00701-06-05, 09:02 PM | Whoa. Never seen this before. Here's my question. Why is the "village meeting" thread called the 'Pit of Nine Hells Thread'? :D :D -KoE |
| Silmarien Aldalome01-07-05, 04:03 AM | Hi there everyone. It's good to see activity on this thread - which is our "Village meeting" Thread and first port of call, when MetaThread doesn't achieve the desired result (whether that be *any* poster's desired result). First of all - the question by Lady Rolindin: There's no easy answer to your question. "How long is a piece of string"? As far as I'm concern, a Foundation is never really dead - but merely "goes to sleep". If you want to be a threadkeeper and see an old foundation, without posts, *go right ahead*. The litmus test is whether there are concerns will be the posters themselves. If the threadkeeper comes back and says "hey - what are you doing" - at that point, if the original keeper has been away for ages - the GMs will step in and facilitate and assist in negotiations. A Foundation only really dies when a WizO locks a thread. And even then, there's some high level spells (begging, atonement and pleading) may reverse the thread death. Does this answer your question. @KoE Erm, when we first got at the Guild House, we brought together Foundations from everywhere - and the thread was named to reflect the initial turbulence. The original village meetings were expected to be a bit hot around the collar as it were. :) As it turned out - this was never the case - so, let's RENAME IT. How about The WotC Poster Village Meeting Thread? |
