Waves crash against nearby rocks, the ocean spray falling down again in a short rain. The speed of the waves increase as a loud rumble shakes the ground. An obsidian spire peires the surface of the waves and grows slowly. Rising still, from beneath the waves comes a city. Half of it remains partially submerged while the rest is raised up above the water's surface. A large black spire rises up high into the air, stretching down into a citatdel roughly carved and surrounded by wave-like extensions in each direction, as if the stone itself had splashed outward. From beyond the rocks, ships raise sail and come forth toward the new island city. Orcs man the ships and begin to unload supplies onto the upper level, while strange snake and fish men begin to rise from the ocean depths. A heavily decorated snake-like man slithers forth from the balcony of the obsidian palace. Looking out across the ocean his voice booms louder than any creature's should.
"We be de lords of da waves. Dis is our land, our waters, our sea. If you be swimmin and seekin the watery depths, then you be dealin with us. We don't care what ya believe, we don't care who ya are. If ya stand against us, den we be takin ya down. Know dat we be for hire if ya got da money... and we dun care who we fight! We fight, because it be our lives, we fight because it be what we do. Dis here be for any of ya boys and girls dat love da fight. If ya want to be knowin more, then ya got some askin ya need ta be doin don't ya?"

Is your character a fish or a snake?

He is a Naga (warcraft style). So hes somewhat of a snake/fish/humanoid mixture. He also has orc blood in him, giving him a dark green scale coloring.
Demonfey

11-28-05, 10:13 PM
Aw, damn, something else I'll have to ask about for stats...
Can we call them "Kutotaz nagas"?
Dyne

11-28-05, 10:59 PM
A stag can be seen clattering across the rocks that jut out of the see. It seems to be gazing out at the city of the depths. A moment later, the stag transforms into an elf in green vestments. He makes his way toward the black spire.

"I am called Quarion Liadon, a watcher of the growing things of the forest. Although the forest is my preferred home, I am a guardian of all of nature. When I learned of your city and people, I thought it would best to travel here myself.

"I am curious. How close is your connection to nature? Since you have risen from the very depths, I assumed your people would have to have some connection to it."
Orcy The Green Wonder

11-28-05, 11:11 PM
The creature slithers over toward the elf and looks him over. It circles him as it examines the curious land dweller.
"We be of de sea, and dat is what we be wit nature. Our shamans be powerful and command de waves and de storms. It is de sea dat we know and dat we live. What you know of de sea?"
Dyne

11-28-05, 11:24 PM
Quarion is quite at ease, despite the serpent creature circling about him.

"I am a druid. I call upon nature for my powers, and I use my powers to protect and strengthen it. All of nature is very connected, no matter how distant. The sea and the forests I call home are dependent upon one another. I sought that our two groups might be able to join with one another in fellowship, that we might mutually strengthen one another and add to our understanding of nature.

"If you would like to know more about where I come from, I can take you there. You may speak with the Keeper of the Wood, our leader and guardian, if you wish."
Orcy The Green Wonder

11-28-05, 11:35 PM
The creature shakes his head and plants the end of his long metallic weapon onto the ground, resting his hands on top of it.
"I not be needin ta see de forests. I seen em before and dey don't impress me much. But if ya wantin ta be allied to da waves den I think I can be acceptin dat, long as ya don't be doin no harm to de sea. Dis be our home like da forest be yours."
Dyne

11-28-05, 11:39 PM
"I would greatly appreciate an alliance between our groups. However, I lack the power to make such a decision. I shall contact the Keeper of the Wood, and you can speak with him yourself. It was a pleasure meeting you, and seeing your grand city up close." The forest elf wild shapes into an eagle, taking flight and heading toward the main land, to the forests.
Demonfey

11-28-05, 11:43 PM
A shadow passes overhead, as the largest wyvern you have ever seen flies over the city, turns around, and drops a couple people off. One is a serpent person, also known as a yuan-ti. The other is what appears to be an elf. The serpent speaks up first, as the wyvern flies off.
We are here to represent the Guild of Ultimate Evil.
Orcy The Green Wonder

11-28-05, 11:55 PM
The snake like creature looks toward the Yuan-Ti and tilts his head. He circles around him and comes to stop directly infront of him.
"You one of de land dwellin types I heard talk of eh? One of dem snake tings that have look like we do. You be representin this guild of evil den eh? Well what ye want ta speak of?"
Demonfey

11-28-05, 11:57 PM
Yes, I am, on both counts. I am here to discuss a mutual agreement for the Guild of Ultimate Evil and the Fortress of Waves. Interested?
Orcy The Green Wonder

11-29-05, 12:09 AM
Coiling his lower body the Wave Lord rests on his own tail and nods toward the Yuan-Ti.
"Go on, tell me what ya be wantin ta talk about. I listen to ya den decide what I need ta decide."
Demonfey

11-29-05, 12:14 AM
If our enemies flee to your territory, you will help us find and kill them. If your enemies come onto land controlled by either us or one of our alliances, we will hunt them.
Orcy The Green Wonder

11-29-05, 12:24 AM
"We help ya hunt dem down if dey in our territory. But if we be catchin dem, den you need ta be payin us if ya wants dem alive or da corpse. If we be findin dem in our territory, and we see dem as a threat, den we be keepin what we find on dem. If ya want us ta hunt someone on da land or out at sea that we don't see bein a threat, ya needs ta be payin us. But you keep what we find on dem. Undastand what I'm sayin do ya?"
Demonfey

11-29-05, 12:33 AM
If you catch them, then we will gladly pay to have them die. Actually, could you keep an eye out for this drow? If you see her on the seas, there will be a bounty for her corpse.
With that, he pulls out a picture of Silimna from a small pouch and hands it to the Wave Lord.
All we ask is if they come into your turf, and they are marked for death by the GoUE, you kill them and we'll pay you for it, and if someone angers you, we will hunt them on land for you and kill them in exchange for one kill free from you. Deal?
Orcy The Green Wonder

11-29-05, 12:36 AM
"We keep an eye out for dis one, ya. But we can't just kill everyting dat ya not like. Otherwise nothin be alive in de seas here. If dey come to us of der will den we listen to dem. We attack dem if dey in our sea for odder reasons, ya get me mon? We let them talk, but if they not talkin, den they dyin."
Demonfey

11-29-05, 12:41 AM
She likes to avoid straight answers, from what I've come to understand. Also, she has been marked for death by three organizations that will probably pay lots of gold. And in all honesty, it'd probably be best to keep this person, "Sargatanas", I believe, from bringing his undead forces into the oceans, and he will pursue her due to a little grudge between the two.
Orcy The Green Wonder

11-29-05, 12:45 AM
"If he bring his corpses into da oceans den he be beaten back. Dis is our land, he cannot beat us here in da ocean. Wether he usin ship or walkin cross da bottom of da sea, he can't win here. Dere just not be enough land for even dead tings to be takin combat to. No, we not be worried about fightin here in da sea, because dis be our home, notin beat us here."
Demonfey

11-29-05, 12:48 AM
If you say so.
Orcy The Green Wonder

11-29-05, 12:54 AM
"Now dere anyting else you wantin ta talk about here? We gots a lot ta do here. We be doin what we needs ta do before we be comin for what we wants ta do."
Demonfey

11-29-05, 12:56 AM
No, no. See you around.
With that, he slithers into the ocean and begins swimming towards land.
Orcy The Green Wonder

11-29-05, 01:18 PM
"Wait land snake, we need make dis agreement what you calls de official. Come back here, den I send da boys ta be givin ya help gettin back to de land. Trust me, you be needin em."
The wave lord rises from his coiled position and slithers in the direction of the snake man, waving him back over as he speaks.

11-29-05, 01:28 PM
Nhyris turns around, and heads back to the city.
How would you like to seal the deal?
Orcy The Green Wonder

11-29-05, 01:39 PM
The Wave Lord raises his hands into the air, pulling an ornamental deocoration from a fin on his head. It bears shells and a few teeth on it as well as a hook by which it was hung. He holds it in both hands and lifts them into the air, placing the item on the ground infront of Nyhris.
"Latmarr..."

Do I have to do anything?
Orcy The Green Wonder

11-29-05, 01:44 PM
Do I have to do anything?

The answer would rely entirely on your understanding of their culture. Orcy didn't intend to make this one human. He wants this guild to have parts about it that are different than human rituals and such. He will leave it to you to decide what to do next... thats part of the fun.
Demonfey

H'sosp'sei.
Orcy The Green Wonder

11-29-05, 01:57 PM
The Wave Lord grunts and runs a hand through some of the trinkets he wears. Raising his hands again in a mock representation of what he had done earlier, he points toward Nhyris and then waves a hand at the ground between them. His hand more toward himself than Nhyris where the trinket still lies. He then looks at Nhyris and repeats himself.
"Latmarr..."
Demonfey

11-29-05, 01:59 PM
Nhyris picks up the shells, and then raises his hands up in the same way as the Wave Lord and says
Latmarr...
Orcy The Green Wonder

11-29-05, 02:02 PM
The wave lord grabs Nhyris' arm as he reaches for the shells. Then pats the shells and tooth and points toward Nhyris. He growls as he looks him over and repeats himself yet again.
"Latmarr!"
Demonfey

11-29-05, 02:04 PM

Orcy The Green Wonder

11-29-05, 02:07 PM

Demonfey

11-29-05, 02:09 PM
Is it your character's name?
Orcy The Green Wonder

11-29-05, 02:12 PM
No, his name is listed in the statistics section, ValTarbam. Orcy will give you a hint, he placed the shells and such on the ground infront of your "feet" and then pointed to the ground infront of his own "feet" later on.
Demonfey

11-29-05, 02:16 PM
*mutters to himself*
must learn this language...
before contemplating what his fellow snake-ish man was trying to communicate.
Orcy The Green Wonder

11-29-05, 02:18 PM
One of the other snake men behind ValTarbam taps one of the trinkets he wears and lifts his hands up. Making a motion of laying something down on the ground across from him then nods and mouths the same words the Wave Lord had been saying.
Demonfey

11-29-05, 02:20 PM
Mouths "thank you", before taking off the large scimitar on his back, which he seems to cradle affectionately for a second, before laying it upon the ground in front of the Wave Lord, and saying
Latmarr.

He doesn't wear many trinkets, at the most he carries his armor, scimitar, shield, bow, and ring of protection. Currently, he doesn't have his bow or shield with him.
Orcy The Green Wonder

11-29-05, 02:24 PM
The Wave Lord takes the scimitar and nods, putting it on his belt he motions toward the shells and teeth with a smile.
"Latmarr. It done, we have de deal sealed den. If we be findin dem enemies of you, den we be takin dem and bringin what be left, livin or dead."
Demonfey

11-29-05, 02:28 PM

Ah, well, guess I'll just have to make one now. Yay, craft weaponmaking!
And the GoUE will do the same for you.
Now, you said something about help getting to the mainland? Also, if you meet any khaasta, you might want to keep that scimitar out of their sight.
Orcy The Green Wonder

11-29-05, 02:50 PM
The Wave Lord nods and motions for a few of the other snake men to come foreward. They approach and he speaks a few words to them in the same language he had earlier used, then motions toward the snake man.
"Dey will see you back to da mainland. Der be tings out here in da water dat would see ya as a meal. Don't forget de shell when ya go now. Dat not be a good ting. Da sea be a better friend when it knows ya, dat it do."

Well, at least now you know so you'll understand the next time.
Demonfey

11-29-05, 02:54 PM
Thank you, wave lord. Take care of that birth scimitar, too. It was a gift from the khaasta, and it represents my very honor.
With that, he picks up the shells, puts them in a pocket having nothing to hang it from on his head or the rest of his body, and departs with the two other snakemen.
Orcy The Green Wonder

11-29-05, 03:01 PM
The Wave Lord nods with a satisfied look. He slithers after them and stops at the edge of the land mass on which the city is built.
"If it be representin ya honor, den it be a fine ting indeed. I keep it safe, and it be wit me in battle. I honor ya by winnin me battles and keepin da blade safe."

oooh, nice move giving him something that represents your honor.

A lithe panther can be seen pouncing across land, toward where the Wavelord rests. Reaching him, the panther stands upright and becoms a cat-like elf.
The elf bows deeply, then looks at the Wavelord.
"I had heard talk of you risen city and might. Certain persons or thoughts say that perhaps we of the Forest and yourselves might agree on an alliance of sorts. May it be that we could find an understanding?"

@orcy: is this guild for any water based characters, or just your crazy orc naga guys?

Any water creatures you'd like. This guild is for anyone really. Mercenaries are welcome, water based creatures are welcome, pirates or those hiding from something. Anything you would like to bring here. The Kutotaz don't care as long as you don't harm the sea or put bad things into it. Their culture may be a bit strange, but they accept almost anybody. They don't care for good or evil, they would welcome a blackguard or paladin just the same.

The Wave Lord looks toward the cat-elf. He circles him as he usually does then brings his face directly infront of the elf's.
"Ya, we be tinkin dat we can ally wit you land dwellers. But we needs ta be discussin da terms of dis agreement. What is it ya gots in mind den?"
Demonfey

We know there will be fighting in the future. No matter what cause we may serve, we both would give ourselves to protect our homes, no? The mighty seas and the wide forests. Given that we are not in direct oppposition, these are the terms:
Niether shall attack the other in violence or anger.
Should the instance arise, we will do what we can to stop the aberrations of nature from enter your waters, should you need aid, and you will do what you can for us, should the tables be turned, so to speak.
Should the seas feel the pain of assult, the assulters shall feel also the arrow. And vice versa.

The Wave Lord coils himself up again and 'sits' infront of the elf as he speaks. Waving his hands about as he speaks and making motions to help describe what it is exactly he means. He pauses at the end and nods, various shells and teeth clanking about his body as his trinkets move with his own motions.

"I am afraid I do not understand."
Orcy The Green Wonder

The Wave Lord points at the man before him and then brings his hands toward his own charms, making a motion as if he were removing one. Then makes another action as if he were placing it on the ground.
"Latmarr..."
Aramar the Black

12-12-05, 06:10 PM
Tirian thinks to himself for a moment, the seem to make a descision.
He reaches behind him, and rummages through his quiver. He takes out one arrow, carved ever so carefully, and draws the tip across his arm, covering it in blood.
Leaving the cut as is, he sets the arrow down in front of himself, and raises the bleeding arm up, in imitation of the Wave Lord's earlier movements.
"Latmarr."
Orcy The Green Wonder

12-12-05, 06:39 PM

"Latmarr... it is done. We have alliance den."
Aramar the Black

12-12-05, 06:49 PM
Tirian reaches down and takes the shells in his hands. He nods at Wave Lord, and gives a half smile.

And with that, the elf becomes a scarred panther, and strides back the way he came, disappearing into the trees.

The little man clambers down the rocks carefully and with much apparent stiffness. After several minutes, he's standing on the lowest of the rocks. He cocks his head to the said as if listening to the waves, and waves a hand out as if shaking hands with the ocean's spray.

Settling down on the rock, he reaches into his pack and pulls out a small wooden box with a curious red symbol on it that vaguely resembles a head. He mutters something and the box unfolds - nay, transforms itself impossibly into a rowboat with a series of clickety-clackety sounds.

Standing up with many bone-popping noises he hops spryly into the boat - an image of nimbleness which is ruined a moment later as he falls down in the boat. Humming to himself he begins rowing further out to sea.

For nearly an hour the old man sits there quietly holding the fishing pole. He seems to be meditating, though there is a peculiar stillness about him even for someone deep in meditation. After a few moments, an observer might catch on that the odd sense of stillness is due to his lack of breathing. Indeed, along with his pallid greyish leathery skin and eerily empty eyesockets, one might think him dead. But as soon as an hour has passed he moves again, standing up with an abrupt surefootedness that belies his earlier awkwardness. He struggles with the fishing line, hauling up the odd, bucket-like device.

Pulling it up over the side, he remarks to no one in particular, "Aha, I caught one today." Reaching into the gourd he deftly pulls out a small, brightly coloured fish. "Thank you for swimming into my gourd little fish, now back into the sea you go." And so saying, he gently releases the fish back into the water.

"Now, I wonder which way that volcanic island is..."

Beneath the old man's boat, a dark shape takes form, and soon, a massive draconic maw appears alongside the boat, then then body of 5th Order rises from the depths, staring, unblinking into the man's eyes

...and noticing that the man doesn't have any eyes - just empty sockets containing darkness and a faint, starlike glimmer.

The old man cocks his head to the side attentively as the form rises beside his boat, dropping subconsciously into a wary, defensive crouch. He bows cautiously and hails the creature in draconic with an odd accent, "Ahoy there, Great One. If one as worthless as I may presume that you are uninterested in eating such a tasteless morsel as myself, might one inquire as to the location of a volcanic island called King's Pyre?"

Taken back at the sight that the old man possesses no eyes, 5th Order replies in Draconic, " I shall lead you there old man, for a price. Tell me what happened to your eyes..."

The old man seems to consider it for a moment, then nods in acceptance. Continuing to speak in draconic, he says, "It is a deal, revered one.

"My people are born without eyes. It was not always so. It is said that many ages ago we were a less disciplined race of people obsessed with the creation of things mechanical and destructive. We were always looking outward and to the future, blind to the havoc we caused and to the atrophy of our very souls.

"Over time we created bigger and more destructive devices until the rest of the world started getting worried. They sent delegations to us, but we did not listen for all that mattered was progress. They made war upon us, but that only hastened our progress. In the end, there were no other civilisations left - there was just us and our drive to build.

"It is said that we finally achieved the ultimate device - the Great Button Which is Red and Shiny and Inviting. So great was its power that we could not resist pushing it...

"In a flash of light our entire universe was destroyed. We were shielded from destruction by the power of the Enlightened Immortal, Tenzhi, yet the light was so intense that it melted the eyes from our skull. The Enlightened One adapted our bodies to the rigors of space and told us to learn from our mistakes. And he cursed us to always be without eyes so that we would never again get so caught up in looking outward that we become blind within."

The old man pauses solemnly for a moment, then he 'looks' up at the dragon and says (in draconic), "I have paid the price you requested, great one, now if you would please show me to King's Pyre, I would be most honoured."

The dragon gazes down upon the sightless man, saying a silent incantation in draconic while a scroll hovers in front of him. The scroll seems to catch fire, and disappear in a plume of smoke. A portal opens nearby, engulfing the two of them, and dumping them both in the inner rim of the volcanoe. " It is done my friend"
