I had some free time yesterday between classes, so I dug around at ELfwood for some art for the towns and a few of the districts. So, here are some images I've found so far that I like, for Tyranor and the surrounding terrain. Let me know what you guys think... and post anything you've found yourselves. I recommend Elfwood.com -- it's great.

Here's the map, for reference. And I have yet to add a few things (Port Royale, Isle de Muerta, enlarged title for Tyranor Proper).http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v356/Kingside_Bishop/CompleteTyrannorProvinceII.jpg

This is for the main city of Tyranor -- Tyranor Proper. Nice and magical looking -- I figure the giant waterfall could be a portal that leads to the rivers Styx and Oceanus.http://ewancient.lysator.liu.se/pic/art/p/e/peres/waterfall.jpg

This is for the Pirate Cove of Tortuga -- not as good as the others, but the best I can find for now.http://ewancient.lysator.liu.se/pic/art/h/o/howcroft/waydreland_peninsular_dark_2.jpg

This is a potential image for Port Royale -- not sure, but is Port Royal a naval base (as opposed to a pirate cove)?http://ewancient.lysator.liu.se/pic/art/g/r/griffin3/sailing.jpg

Here's one for the Oasis Town of Karnak -- not that great, though. Doesn’t really show the town, just looks outside one of the arches of the town.http://ewancient.lysator.liu.se/pic/art/d/u/dufresne/oasis.jpg

This is another possibility for the Oasis Town of Karnak -- the insect looking things could be worked into the mythology of the town -- water carrying and storing constructs, or something, eh? Just brainstorming.http://ewancient.lysator.liu.se/pic/art/p/e/peres/desert.jpg

The pieces seem very appropriate. It will add to the experience to see these as painatings rather than need to rely on description and imagination.
I do not mean that in a bad way it is just that things will enevitably be left out and some one will get confused and the whole thing would fall apart, but that is only if we do not have an acurate pictoral representation. good chioces. I wouls like to see it divide in to possibly 100ftx100ft blocks so that a grid can be formed and people can just use a coordinate system for movement then we could divide the 100ft squares in to 5ft by 5ft blocks to give the jmost accurate representatoin but that might be alot of work so lets worry about that latter.

I wouldn't worry about combat space -- the intention of this art is just to add to the tapestry, make the game feel more real. The map divides the region into districts, but the districts themselves are several miles square apiece. We're not going to worry about movement unless a fight breaks out, at which point we'll probably have several maps to use for each district. That'd be a good project for me over the summer -- developing three tactical maps for each district.

Very nice. I like all of them except for the second Oasis Town (it doesn't seem like an oasis nor a town) and the Burning Marches (it just looks odd, abstract).

I just noticed the Storm Peaks on the map, and I though, "Why don't I make that be the stronghold of Stormhand?" The name fits. Plus, it is currently the only place with Adamantine. :plotting:

A question, though. Are there districts in the towns, such as Tyranor Proper and the Tundra City of Nun? Or are you just not allowed to build assets there?

The towns will be further subdivided into their own, higher level but resource poor, districts. That's one of my projects when finals are over.

04-21-05, 06:30 PM
what are the levels supposed to mean?
Kingside_Bishop

04-21-05, 09:26 PM
That'll be revealed when the rules are posted. Basically, higher level districts represent more population. They have the potential to bring in more actual cash revenue, but are resource poor (generally). Lower levels don't bring in much money, but are quite resource productive.
Dyne

04-22-05, 01:08 AM
Wait, what? I thought the only way to bring in money was from resources.

Oy, I am so confused. And I helped work on those resource rules....
Kingside_Bishop

04-22-05, 02:06 AM
You can sell resources for money, but you automatically gain money merely by owning a holding. Different holdings generate different amounts of money, mulitplied by the level of the district... this'll all be explained in the rules, which I'm going to post tonight. Late, late into the night...

I'm off to formatting land.

The crystal keep of the psions. Just imagine it all crystally and whatnot. Its alot bigger on the inside than it is on the outside, and you can have Twilight Zone moments inside when you realize your on the celing, or a wall, and everyone else is somewhere else in similar situations. :P

where should the elabonain empire city be on the map, with 100,000 romans and 200,000 to 400,000 slaves.
somewhere by the mountains and near a forrest so they can have an good wood supply.

I found a link to a roman web page and heres the information, the city of Videssos is made to copy Rome. in every detail.

Ksb is it posssabile to makea zoom in like the maps of the worlds.
Where like in the fr maps, you have a over view of the whole world, whick we have now.
and there are smaller maps that give more details in the areas, I don't know how to do this my self but, can this be done?
make a zoom in on all the areas one by one so we can see what a amaller section looks like and then if possabile a even smaller section. thi swould help define the areas, and make them more understanable.
I can ask around and check to see idf someone I know can do this. I will ask some people I know and get back to you on this.
but do know someone who can do this?

IMG tags are deactivated in the Guild House. I dont know why, and I have no say in the matter.
Demonfey

I think it has to do with the little picture put up for Orcy's birthday a long time ago, definitely before I ever heard of the Guild House. It's of a female orc climbing out of a cake, and if you search through the old threads, you'll probably find it.

What really ticks me off is that we cant even use KB's old trick of left and right images.
