| Fallenangel35907-31-06, 04:02 PM | my friend has talked about starting a DND campaign, which is totally normal except one rule... you aren't allowed to take any class levels from any class in the player's handbook. I think we'll need some help/advice on how to do this... Class replacement suggestions |
| alchemyprime07-31-06, 06:14 PM | I'm under the assumption "core" is only PHB, MM, and DMG to you guys. In our campaign, MoI and XPH are too, but I'm going with the ones we have numbers on. Okay, doing ONLY the eleven base classes, and using memory only right now, lets see what we have. Barbarian- Emulator in my sig, Sohei from OA Bard- CN Incarnate, "Nothing" in my sig, Scout, Spellthief, Swashbuckler Cleric- Psion Egoist, Healer (if you are desperate), Favoured Soul Druid- Shujenja, Shaman from OA, Spirit Shaman from CD Fighter- Samurai from OA, Samurai from CW, Marshal Monk- Emulator in my sig, Ninja from CW Paladin- Soulborn, NG Incarnate, Hexblade, Divine Marksman in my sig Ranger- Hexblade, Psychic Warrior Rogue- Soulknife, Artificer, Strategist from my sig Sorcerer- Warlock, Warmage, Wilder Wizard- Psion, Incarnate, Warmage, Wu Jen That's off of the top of my head. You could also use only UA variants. Or check out http://www.comunity3e.com for some good ideas. Other than that, browse the classes boards. That's all I have. Sorry. |
| DragonBringerX08-01-06, 03:09 AM | those r all pretty good, but some classes (u listed) can even fill other rolls... barbarian -dragon shaman (phb2) fighter - knight (phb2) paladin -duskblade (phb2) rogue -ninja, spell theif, Lurk* (Comp Psionic) cleric - shugenja (pick water)/ Divin Mind (Comp Psionic) druid - Ardent (CP) sorc/rog -beguiler (phb2) *great class a great party would be (lets say 4 people sense thats the standard) Artificer (fills alot of rolls) -eberron Favored soul -comp divine Psion or Wu Jen -ExPsionics HB Duskblade or Knight -Players Handbook 2 Now...if ur not allowed the PHB2 (which u should) then... Favored Soul Psion Artificer (u need that trapfinding...if ur DM dosn't do traps...then Lurk) Hexblade - Comp War i'm simply not going into the Tomb of Magic (which is a great buy) now...to realy be different use the Spell Compendium :teach: |
| alchemyprime08-01-06, 02:25 PM | True... I was only thinking of an artificers trapfinding. I didn't even think of infusions. if everyone was a warforged (doubt it, but then again...) a Shaper or Artificer can replace the cleric. hm... I was also thinking of flavor and rolls together. Hence Warlock was Sorcerer, Wu Jen for Wizard. Also, are core races allowed? If not, I have alternatives. And I assume no one EVER will dissallow Humans, so I won't say them here. Elf- Genasi. Or Githyanki/Githzerai. Or Tiefling or Assimar. Anything really. Dwarf- NOTHING CAN REPLACE THE PROUD DWARF RACE! Okay, either a UA dwarf, or a duergar, or a Dark SUn Mul. Maybe a Barraiaur. Half-Elf- does anyone play a half-elf? Well, I guess a good race to use instead would be... maybe a Elan. Half-Orc- Half-Giant. Sure, it's a +1 LA, but they are a nice alternative. Halfling- RIlkan. Halflings are excellent, but I really like the Rilkan, which has the same modifiers to ability scores. Also, the Xeph is nice... hey, has anyone noticed that Xeph and XPH are one letter off? Gnome- too perfect. Allways should have a gnome. But, if your campaign doesn't half gnomes (for shame), I'd say use dusklings or spikers, just for the sheer weirdness. That's all I have for now. |
| DragonBringerX08-02-06, 04:35 AM | if ur talkin races...then i'd say any of the new races presented in the Eborron camp setting r great choices for balanced +0 ECL races. Shifter - Orc/Dwarf Changling -Halfling/Gnome Kalashtar -Elf Warforge -...ok so this one is completly different (who cares) come to think of it...this would make one the most intereting parties i've ever seen...especially if you use the classes i said earlier. Warforge Artificer Kalashtar Psion Changling Favored Soul Shifter Duskblade/Hexblade (not so well as a knight though...well maybe but lawful)...oww...nasty party |
