Hey I am playing a ranger/warlock in a campaign and the lack of prestige classes got to me. So I threw this one together. The roleplay behind it is the Warlock draws his power from the Fey, somewhere long ago in his past his family was touched by the Fey and he is slowly awakening this inside himself. So let me know what you think.

Fey Ascendant
Level Base Fort Ref Will Special Spells/day
Atk save save save
1st 0 2 0 2 Unearthly Speed, Wild Empathy -
2nd 1 3 0 3 - +1 warlock level
3rd 2 3 1 3 Additional Fav Enemy +1 warlock level
4th 3 4 1 4 Fey Ascension I +1 warlock level
5th 3 4 1 4 Bonus Feat +1 warlock level
6th 4 5 2 5 Additional Fav Enemy +1 warlock level
7th 5 5 2 5 Fey Ascension II +1 warlock level
8th 6 6 2 6 Bonus Feat +1 warlock level
9th 6 6 3 6 Additional Fav Enemy +1 warlock level
10th 7 7 3 7 Quicken SLA/2 day, Fey Ascension +1 warlock level

Requirements:
Alignment: Any chaotic non-evil
Feats: Track
Skills: Survival 6 ranks, Knowledge Nature 5 ranks
Special: 2 Favored Enemies, 3 Invocations Known, Wild Empathy

Hit points: 1d6

Class Skills:
Bluff, Concentration, Craft, Disguise, Intimidate, Jump, Knowledge Arcana, Knowledge Planes, Knowledge Religion, Knowledge Nature, Profession, Sense Motive, Spellcraft, Use Magic Device, Survival, Climb, Spot, Listen, Hide, Move silently, Handle Animal

Skill Points at Each Level: 4 + Int Modifier

Class Features:
Unearthly Speed: The Eldritch Champion begins to tap into his Fey Blood and begins moving at a +10 base movement as well as being able to track at normal speed with no penalties.
Wild Empathy: The Eldritch Champion continues to stay in touch with animals and gains Wild Empathy as a Ranger would.
Additional Favored Enemy: The Eldritch Champion gains another favored enemy from the Rangers chosen list, though they get +3 rather than the normal +2 vs demons.
Fey Ascention I: The Eldritch Champion ties to Nature are slowly bringing out the Fey Blood from within granting him a +1 to Cha and his features become more angular and defined.
Additional Favored Enemy: The Eldritch Champion gains another favored enemy from the Rangers chosen list, though they get +3 rather than the normal +2 vs demons.
Fey Ascention II: The Eldritch Champion draws further on the power of his Fey Blood gaining +2 to Cha as well as changing his eyes to smokey spheres.
Quicken SLA 2/day: The Eldritch Champion gains the ability to use 2 SLA’s as a free action per day.
Fey Transformation: Reaching back and fully awakening his Fey Blood the Eldritch Champion’s race switches from human to Fey. As well as gaining dmg reduction 10/cold iron.
Bonus Feats: These can be drawn from Improved Two Weapon Fighting, Greater Two Weapon Fighting, and all the maximize, empower, and whatnot for SLA's.

Some things I was considering was maybe raising the base attack, or hps... any feedback is welcomed I want to make sure this is balanced. Thanks.

It's interesting, up the HD to 8 and keep the Warlocks attack bonus.

I'd get rid of that "no-evil" thing though, most Warlocks have a strong tendency towards evil

since warlocks don't cast spells, what does the +1 warlock level per Fey Ascendant level do?

It seems a little too specific to Ranger/Warlock, is more powerful than WotC Prcs, and empirically doesn't have the feel of a WotC PrC .

What you really have here is a gestalt warlock/ranger that is also a transformative Prc. Much more powerful than base PrCs.

If you are trying to create a general-purpose PrC, rather than a specific advancement track for one character, try this:

Requirements:
BaB: +4
Alignment: Any chaotic
Skills: Knowledge (Arcana), 8 Ranks, Knowledge (Nature) 8 ranks
Special: Able to cast See Invisibility or use See Invisibility as a spell-like ability (See the Unseen would fit this description).

Only provide a good Will save.

Change +1 Warlock Level to +1 Spellcaster Level.

Reduce the number of caster levels to at most 7 of the 10 level PrC. Take a cue from other transformative PrCs if you think that isn't fair.

Eliminate the Additional Favored Enemy.

Change Quicken SLA 2/day to Bonus Feat: Quicken Spell or Quicken Spell-Like Ability. Quicken SLA already has 3/day built in to the new description, and this would allow a normal caster to benefit from this PrC.

What this would do is require a Warlock to multiclass or blow a feat for the knowledge skill, while still allowing allow a Bard or multiclass Ranger or Druid to qualify.

Speed bonuses are very powerful in 3.5, and transformative PrCs give you immunity to a variety of spells once you are no longer Humanoid, so if you really are looking for balance, you will need to cut back on some of the benefits.

doesn't have the feel of a WotC Prc
is that a bad thing? :D

anyway I agree, the PrC is too powerful as written, especially if you are still earning invocations at the same rate as warlock. You're getting a whole lot, and only giving up... what, a few points of damage reduction/cold iron?

Havent read the PrC thru completely, but as to spamfiltre comment to being too specific to ranger/warlock: What's wrong with that. A more focused PrC is what most should be. PrCs can be general or VERY focused. ASlot were designed for a specific class combo. I dont know if this one is too powerful, but people tend to leave out one balancing factor. It is permisible to have a PrC that is more powerful for the intended target levels if the prerequisites are steep. If it is focused tightly, then that is another balancing factor. If your focus takes up all your class character resources (feats & skillpoints: espescially taking cross-class skills) then it is justifiable to reward the character with more power in a focused PrC. On the flip side, they should be a fish out of water when trying something outside that focus.

I can see this being a PrC designed for non-evil warlocks. Just because most are evil, doesnt mean that the ones that arent wont have a specialty PrC of their own. A ranger/warlock PrC sounds right up a fey touched warlock's alley.

What you are giving up is base attack bonus from ranger, 2 known invocations ((or more depending on if you lvl warlock again after this)) you also need to be level 8 before you take it. Also when I made this I was comparing it to the Daggerspell mage. Lastly, the reason why its any non-evil is because its a Fey warlock... meaning he's pulling his power from the Fey in his blood, not demon. I intentionally made him tied to ranger because I wanted a Nature bound Warlock rather than Demon bound.

and what? there are no evil fey? thats stupid. i can point out atleast 3 evil fey... to say nothing of the whole unseelie court (depending on what you believe about the two courts and fey mytholigy)

It seems very overpowered. I would drop the +1 spellcasting at levels 4, 7 and 10. I'd also drop the bonus to +1 casting rather than full spellcasting progression, and give a bonus invocation known at levels 4 and 7.

Also, I would limit the favored enemy choices to Outsiders or Fey and remove the +3 instead of +2.

As for the evil/non-evil thing, it probably doesn't matter too much since it's for your characters. I would remove that restriction, unless this is particularly Seelie.

Also, the title of the thread is misleading. While your character may be melee, this prestige class is not geared at all towards melee. You could just as easily run this with a ranged character.
