| BattlemageLv5701-30-06, 03:38 PM | How does it work the DM that I usualy play with had us make 8th level characters and I was wondering if I got this right when you gain a level you can put it in your class or your bloodline and the level of your bloodline tells you what gets increased. Also if you raise your class level higher than your Bloodline you lose your powers that you gained and take a 20% exp penalty untill you have an equal or greater Bloodline level. If all of this is correct then if I put 4 levels in Wu Jen and 4 in my bloodline. Then I would be fine if I just increase my bloodline before my class. Is all of this correct? |

Even then the 3rd level doesn't have to be taken until (immediately prior to) CL 12 (w/the 1st & 2nd bloodline levels taken at ECL 3 & 6). If you don't take a bloodline level prior to the necessary CL, you don't lose previous bloodline traits gained, you just don't gain any further traits (the XP penalty is correct tho'). If you're taking a major bloodline then you would need 6 Wu Jen, 2 Bloodline, while intermediate strength 'line would only require you to have taken 1 level, and a minor strength bloodline level could be foregone entirely at CL 8. I would recommend going over the full text (see link below). The bloodlines give abilities at each (or alternating) character level and bloodline levels are added to any class levels. While it doesn't say specificaly (that I can find), as a GM I would treat Bloodline Class levels as ECL modifiers as per rules for Monstrous Races.
