| hiryuu03-01-04, 01:07 PM | Comes from the word "thugee," servants of Kali who'd beat people up and often kill them and take their money in the name of their deity. |
| TheMightyMcClaw03-01-04, 01:24 PM | I think we should go with one of those synonyms Quithion found. I know I want to play a Level Five Gnome Hooligan... or maybe an Elven Yahoo. |
| Wil_Hyral03-01-04, 02:58 PM | I love the idea of "Desperado." Hiryuu, very interesting. And now I'll entertain us with a story about "hoodlum." As I understand it, "hoodlum" came from a news reporter in San Diego in the very late 1800s. There was a gang that ran the city de-facto back then, and even writing the name of their leader (Muldoon) spelled certain doom for the unfortunate informant. In order to do a report, a certain well-to-do and ambitious journalist called the gang as their leader's name spelled backwards, with the n replaced with an h. Hoodlum was coined then. But yeah, I like "Desperado." |
| miztivoi03-01-04, 03:54 PM | How about: Mobster Footpad Bandit Troublemaker Brigand Scoundrel Ruffian Punk Mugger Neer-do-well Hellraiser Raffle Or what about Høkkert Måssåbjønn :fight!: |
| riceisnice03-01-04, 11:58 PM | Scoundrel? Scoundrel? I like the sound of that. |
| monk-ki03-02-04, 01:44 AM | Who's scruffy-looking? |
| Wil_Hyral03-02-04, 02:22 AM | Laugh it up, fuzz-ball. |

| Fiendish Dire Weasel03-02-04, 02:26 AM | RaffleThink that's supposed to be "Rabble"?Høkkert Uhhh... Hooker? What? ;) |
| Count Arioch the 28th03-02-04, 03:36 AM | "Pansy" "Weakling" "Craptacular wad of crap that no one would want to play" Oh, I'm sorry, you didn't want my opinions on what the thug class should be called? Honestly, I don't see the point of it, except when mixed with the sneak attack for feats trade in the end of the variant chapter. That is my thug, remove the feats, add in SA as a rogue, keep the thug skills. Now THAT'S thuggin'. How about Hood? Or Enforcer? (I copuld see this class being the strong arm of a thieves guild.) |
| miztivoi03-02-04, 03:49 AM | Høkkert is a Norwegian word. I have no idea what it originally meant, but it basically means a naughty boy or nasty person. I included it for good measure...and because it is a good word. |
| Count Arioch the 28th03-02-04, 03:54 AM | How would it be pronounced in english? |
| Wil_Hyral03-02-04, 04:19 AM | Høkkert is pronounced a lot like "Craptacular wad of crap that no one would want to play," as luck would have it. |
| miztivoi03-02-04, 04:40 AM | I think the easisest way is to pronounce it is huKart. With the U like the U in "Bud", and an emphasis on the K. |
| Bifford03-02-04, 10:58 AM | Muggers and bullies are specific types of thugs. |
| Orcboss03-02-04, 01:00 PM | Originally posted by TheMightyMcClaw I think we should go with one of those synonyms Quithion found. I know I want to play a Level Five Gnome Hooligan... or maybe an Elven Yahoo. Sounds like a Hackmaster game waiting to happen. :) |
| Marshall03-02-04, 02:43 PM | The class should be "Skirmisher" and while I like the extra class skills they're not quite right. Too much CHA, not enough DEX. |
| miztivoi03-02-04, 04:20 PM | I seem to have forgot Scallywag... How about a ranger equivalent? He could be a Bushwacker or a Swagman. Why do I feel like singing Waltzing Matilda when I hear these silly names...?:D :D :D |
