| Millennium03-16-04, 11:26 AM | Is it me, or is there no aasimar paragon in the book? I found a tiefling paragon, but I can't find one for the aasimar. I find this odd, because I figured that where I found one I'd find the other. Was it just left out by mistake or something? |
| Dawnspeaker03-16-04, 11:40 AM | No it was left out. I thought the same thing to. I guess tieflings are more popular for players the aasimar's. Seems to always be people like the demonic stuff better then the good guys. Why alot more fans of drow then normal elves and people love the demon lords and archfiends over the celestial exarchs |
| TerrickTerran03-16-04, 02:07 PM | The explanation I saw was that they wanted to do some of the more popular villains, along with the PHB Races. |
| Pagan priest03-26-04, 12:41 AM | Seems to me that if you have one, you don't really need the other. Just extrapolate. |
| cdmonish03-26-04, 10:35 AM | On his website andycollins.net, there are racial paragons for Aasimars and Gnolls. Since it is OGC, I'll repost what he has listed: Aasimar Paragon: BAB: As Fighter SAVES: All Good Skills: Concentration, Diplomacy, Heal, Knowledge (the planes), Listen, Sense Motive and Spot. Skill Points/level: 2 + Int modifier Weapon and Armor Proficiency: All martial weapons and light, medium and heavy armor 1st level: Improved Resistance: At first level, one of the aasimar paragon's natural resistances to energy (acid, cold, electricity) improves from 5 to 10. 2nd level: Daylight: At 2nd level, an aasimar paragon can use his daylight spell-like ability three times per day. 2nd level: Skill Bonus: A 2nd-level aasimar paragon’s racial bonus on Listen and Spot checks improves to +4. 3rd level: Ability Bonus: At 3rd level, an aasimar paragon’s Charisma score increases by 2 points. |

Aasimar becomes Half Celestial over three levels! http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/sp/20040319aTransistion Classes (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/sp/20040319a) The difference is that there are no Hit Die, Hit Points, Skills or feats involved. |

Nah, that's different. An interesting idea, and could be fun in the right campaign, but it's definitely different. |

Why alot more fans of drow then normal elves and people love the demon lords and archfiends over the celestial exarchs Is this because of a certain cool factor to fiends, or is it because roleplaying evil characters have fewer restraints? |
| sciborg203-27-04, 11:46 AM | Well, tieflings have more of a story. They can be evil or good, but they are distrusted and often reviled. Aasimar are the pampered children of angels, who can fit into Upper Planar and Prime socieities with much greater ease. I think this is why tieflings are popular. |

You trying to say you can't do the exact same thing with an Aasimar? I was actually planning on playing an Aasimar Hexblade sometime in the near future. I personally think Aasimars could make excellent villains. They may be predisposed toward good alignments, but no more so than Tieflings are predisposed toward evil ones. |
| sciborg203-28-04, 04:02 PM | oh, you can do the same thing, but in my mind paragons spring from those races and half-races that have a sense of community. Aasimar, because they are so easily accepted by most communities, don't have the sense of shared tragedy the tieflings do. They lack of shared empathy makes it less likely for them to have paragons, as the majority seek to emulate their celestial parents instead. similarly, I wouldn't expect planar beings to have paragons either, as by their nature they are exemplars of their alignments and being on a plane that fits you best limits the adversity that I also think goes into being a paragon. |

You said it mate, they seek to be more like their celestial ancestry, what better way to do that than become a more "evolved" Aasimar? the only other thing they can do to be closer is take levels in the Half-Clelestial template or that other one, the transitional template. I was acually quite shocked that they didn't include the Aasimar Paragon... although i probably took it a little personal, because i am currently playing one :D But oh, well, Mr Collins was kind enough to develop it, so no harm done  |
