So, a Paladin could Smite Evil with his Holy Avenger on a Demon or Devil, for example, because it has the Evil subtype, but not on a 'human' level of evil. Things I'm thinking of so far: 1. Paladins might need a little boost, since their Smite Evil just got more limited; same with Soulborn. 2. Certain Prestige Classes, mostly those demon or devil oriented, or really heinous ones, will at some point in their progression, grant the character in question the appropriate subtype(s) ... such as the Acolyte of the Skin. Conversely, Paladins, Clerics, and other classes with the 'Aura' feature gain a subtype as well. Any other big holes in this idea I haven't thought of? |
