| Koga:The ninja trick12-23-05, 12:16 PM | These were just some theories The Koga cameup with to ignore the spells-per-day system, he doesn't know how balanced it is yet, but you can try them out if you like, they're mostly for fluff rather then crunch. Universal rule: Divine/Arcane casters do not have spells-per-day and can cast spontanously. DIVINE: Divine casters draw energy from dieties, when one prays, chants a mantra, that's the sign of a divine-caster at work.. However, divine magick is tottaly dependant on the god being asked for assistance, as such, if it's not "God's will" or simply cannot happen, your spell is a failure. To signify this, roll a d20, for each spell-level starting at zero, you suffer a +5% chance of spell-failure. (So level 0 have a 5% chance where as level 9 have a 50% chance.) As you know, druids don't nesscarely serve a diety, but because of the druid's oath, if they waver from any other alingment but pure neutral, they suffer a +10% chance of spell-failure, where as a cleric must stay precisely to thier diety's alingment, and if they waver they suffer a +10% chance of spell-failure. Divine casters require strict discipline, patience, and hummility knowing thier spells may not always work.. And to think, this is arguably the most powerful spellcaster.. ARCANE: Arcane casters use the Earth and the energy not seen by the naked eye for spell-casting. This invisible force sorrounds and lives inside all matter, and arcane-casters know how to manipulate it. Though the problem with arcana is not it's unreliability, but rather it's expenses. Arcane spells require matireal components, but sense every spell is differant, the standard "spell component pouch" no longer works, instead, each spell you casts costs +10gold per spell-level. (Meaning level 0 cost 10 gold and level 9 cost 100 gold!) Arcane magick also suffers from arcane spell failure as usual. PSIONICS: Psionics draw thier energy from within, wether martial artists practice the art of ki, or rebel preists denounce thier faith and draw power from thier own life-force, psionicists or "manifestorts" work as normal psionic characters with thier powerpoints and everything, but with one fatal drawback. Because drawing energy from the self can be both taxing and dangerous, you must roll a d6 to determine what happens everytime you manifest a power. 1-You become dazed for 3 rounds. 2-You become blinded or deafend (DM's choice) for a number of rounds equal to the level of the power. 3-You take an HP drain of 1d4. 4-You become shaken for 1d4 rounds. 5-You take a powerpoint drain of 2. 6-Nothing happens. |
| elven warriorXX12-29-05, 10:39 AM | Why the major nerf? I am trying to make Druids spontaneous casters but this stuff is just Nerfing for no reason. If you think that Spellcasters are more powerful then other classes that is true in some ways. Most people choose the warrior type class because they want the typical Knight-in-shining-armor. Arcane casters are the next choice of Character as they are just plan cool. Divine casters are more powerful then Arcane (why i am making the druid Not caster divine and making them use Druidic magic [Which is based on Elements and Nature]) But they still suck. Divine magic is the healing magic and since Divine casters are so unpopular WOTC makes them 2x as powerful as the popular wizard just so people will play them but most people don't. |
