Creatures that would normally be destroyed with one good swing of the longsword now may very well survive several rounds with the injury save. Take for example a 1st level Fighter against a Medium Monstrous Centipede. Normally one hit with a longsword would be enough to finish off the bug. With the injury system, the bug needs to make a DC16-17 Fortitude save. This gives it only a 20-25% chance of being disabled. Conclusion: the bugs a lot better off. The fighter, who would normally be able to take several bites now has the slim chance of being disabled immediately. I don't necessarily have a problem with the fighter's increased risk, just the centipede's increased ability to survive. Any thoughts? |
