Another Gestalt question [Archive] - Wizards Community

04-19-07, 05:17 PM Some of the verbage for a Gestalt character is rather unclear.

Say I have a character that starts off as a Rogue/Fighter.

after two levels the fighter is swapped for cleric.

At level 5 what is the BAB of this character?

So the character is this Rogue 5/Fighter 2/Cleric 3.

The complication comes when you look at the BAB progression of the cleric and rogue. They both have a 3/4 progression, so at character level 5 it should be a bonus of +0. BUT at class level 3 for the cleric it still gets a +1.

No where does in the verbage for Gestalt can I find where you are supposed to look at the character level for determining BAB progression.

Any help would be appreciated.

04-19-07, 05:29 PM It's just like figuring it out for two characters, one multiclass and one regular, and taking the higher of the two.

However, that's the easy answer. The main point is you have a BAB of +3, +2 as a fighter and +1 as a cleric or Rogue.

here is how it works, AFAIK, RAW says you take teh better progression, this can mean a world of things to different people. I rule it as you take a progression in whatever type of BAB you jsut gained

so, in your example at level 2 you have 2 levels of Good BAB, then over the next 3 levels you take 3 levels of medium BAB, this gives you a +4 total BAB at level 5.

It is much easier if you use fractional.

04-20-07, 12:15 AM This is why the fractional progressions sidebar happens to appear in the Gestalt section of UA. It makes this much easier to deal with.

L1: BAB +1 (Fighter)
L2: BAB +2 (Fighter)
L3: BAB +2 3/4 [+2 effective] (either)
L4: BAB +3 2/4 [+3 effective] (either)
L5: BAB +4 1/4 [+4 effective] (either)
