| elven warriorXX07-13-05, 05:04 PM | Magic points All wizards use a magic point system. A wizard gets magic points to use spells on. See below to see the level of the spell and how many points it costs. Every level the wizard gains 2 new spells to put in his spell book. The spells can be of any level but can not exceed the max spell level. Spell level Magic point cost 0 1 1st 2 2nd 4 3rd 6 4th 8 5th 10 6th 12 7th 14 8th 16 9th 18 WL MP Spells known Max spell level 1st 3 4 1 2nd 7 6 1 3rd 12 8 2 4th 18 10 2 5th 26 13 3 6th 36 15 3 7th 47 17 4 8th 58 19 4 9th 73 21 5 10th 89 24 5 11th 107 26 6 12th 127 28 6 13th 148 30 7 14th 172 32 7 15th 196 35 8 16th 222 37 8 17th 251 39 8 18th 282 41 9 19th 312 43 9 20th 345 46 9 WL=wizard level MP= magic points soooo... what ya think?? :D |
| Xeviat-DM07-13-05, 06:17 PM | Do you allow spell augmentation? Why did you choose to increase the cost for each spell level by 1 point compared to the XPH psionic spell cost? Can wizards still scribe additional spells? |

Can wizards still scribe additional spells? yes beacuse i gave the wizard more arcane points then the psions power points yes but must spend Arcane points by level of the spell |
| elven warriorXX07-13-05, 09:17 PM | bump |
| ydirbut07-13-05, 11:31 PM | I would make the SP cost for spells Exponetial IE. LVL-Cost 1-1 2-4 3-9 4-16 5-25 6-36 7-49 8-64 9-81 |
| elven warriorXX07-13-05, 11:39 PM | that is i bit high of costs :) |
| Xeviat-DM07-14-05, 01:58 AM | Why don't you check out my mana system, it's linked in my signature. I've converted all of the PHB spells into augmentation style spells, and me and a few others are working on further updating all of the spells. |
| elven warriorXX07-14-05, 10:29 AM | it isvery well done :) it must have taken a long time to do all that :) lol |
| rbrt_Spade07-15-05, 12:32 PM | you like house rules a lot!-you make of lots of variant things but more power to you! live on raw! |

| RaspK FOG07-15-05, 09:21 PM | I use a Spell point system for my conversion of Masque of the Red Death; basically, adepts (that is, the equivalent of the wizard) spend 2 × (spell level + 1) Spell points and spell level + 1 Vitality points for successfully casting a spell, as it draws on their life energy as well, but only half as many Spell points if the spell somehow fails. Spells also take somewhat longer (new duration = [spell level + 1] × initial duration). They are given 4 + Int bonus spell points per adept level, and regain 1 spell point per adept level per hour. |
| elven warriorXX07-15-05, 09:26 PM | that is a cool system :) i am trying more of a psionic point system for my low magic campaign setting. |
| Ibbins07-16-05, 02:32 PM | If you plan to rework magic to fit into a low-magic world by making it more like psionics, there's a much simpler way to get something similar: replace magic with psionics entirely. It's been done, and I think it would work out quite well. |
| elven warriorXX07-16-05, 02:55 PM | that is i good idea :) that might just work thanks guys :) |
| Verelor07-16-05, 03:34 PM | This system is fine I guess, but the best one in the world is the one included with Jaerom Darkwind's superb Arcanist class. They are called Arcs and received hours of careful balance and thought to make the system perfect. Funny though that the one in Unearthed Arcana sucks more than the spell point system most people can muster up in 10 minutes. Unearthed Arcana is flawed one very page. Anyway, the link to Jaerom's superior spell point system along with a great arcane class is here at http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=366676 |
