In Unearthed Arcana, I have a question on the Armor as Damage Conversion rule. I looked through the forum already, and did not find the question answered, so here I am. Anyway, is it only your armor's AC bonus that is turned into subdual damage? Or would a ring of protection or arm bands of armoring give you a higher capacity for turning damage into subdual? or just make you harder to hit, ala the typical rules?

Personally, I only allow armor and its bonuses to do the conversion. Not shields, not bracers, not rings, etc. The conversion is a physical result of the armor protecting, whereas other forms of protection simply add to AC.

Just my 2 coppers...

yea, it says shields didn't add to the conversion, but i wanted to be sure that that applied to all other AC enhancers.

thanks!

I would only apply the base protective value of the armor as well. This system is great for balancing the medium and heavy armors in my opinion, even though it isn't the method that I use.
