Under this system characters would have a score for luck based on their character level. A character's luck score would be equal to on half of their ECL rounded up. This score never increases past plus 10 at level 20. For instance, a level 3 wizard would have a luck score of 2. A drow (LA 2) cleric 3 would have a luck score of 3. Once per day, a character may add their luck score to a single attack roll, save, or skill check.

What are your guy's opinions. Any suggestions on improvements or comments on balance or validaty would be welcome. Thanks in advance.

I suggest looking at Unearthed Arcana's Action Points and those of Eberron too. They work better I think and are pretty balanced too.

I treat my Luck stat like any other stat. Roll 5d6, drop the lowest two (I run high powered games). Your modifier determines how many rerolls you get per day. ex. an 18 stat is a +4 modifier, so you get to reroll any four die rolls in any given day. Negative modifiers (If you're swtupid and put a low score into luck) constitute bad luck. If you had a -4 modifier to your luck stat, you would have to reroll the first 4 20s you roll in any given day. I put the bad luck modifiers in to prevent players from parking that 3 in luck, just so they'd have better stats everywhere else.

Two issues with bad luck:

By rerolling the first 4 d20's, do you mean taking the lowest of the two scores?

Wouldn't player's just make a few jump checks or something to get the bad luck "out of their system" every morning?

In my game I try not to introduce to many house rules. As far as luck goes, I roll 2d10 (Percentage). This usually only applies to stuff that isn't adjucated by other rolls. For instance when the warforged crit. with a throwing spear at a range (roll=99) pinning the now dead drow to the pillar behind it. When going to remove the spear there is now Str check to do so. If he rolled average if wouldve crit. been something unremarkable as far as desrciption went. If he rolled lower it would've glanced (still a crit.) of the side of the drow hitting the pillar behind him and bouncing off at such an angle as to be further out of reach.
With a 5% and lower it would've gotten badly stuck in the pillar and difficult to remove.
