| Misterfido12-20-07, 08:04 PM | Well, I love the Barrel, Crate, and Sack Generator generator, but don't like both how level-independent and computer-based it is. So I decided to use m4 m4d spreadsh33t sk1llz to create a printout which I can use in my D&D games, using the same basic concept and rules, while also implementing the Magic Item Compendium item level rules to balance it a touch. I had my spreadsheet generate EVERY possible combination of completely-full barrel, crate, and sack of each size, except for ones containing elements that would be generated by the Magic Item Compendium's own treasure generator: weapons, armor, magic items, mundane items, art and goods. Then I eliminated containers who had such a high Item Level that they were in a category all their own (the best example being "Medium barrel of Arcane material, exotic" at a nice but lonely item level 47), which turned out to be pretty much everything above 20th level. I went into my trusty OpenOffice text writer, and made nice d% tables to copy-paste all this info to. The result is the in-game generator you see in the attached PDF. I made this for a Darguun (goblins, trade with gp? Nahhhhh!) campaign I'm planning, but decided to share it with all'y'all. I hope somebody enjoys this. Oh, and cheers to the guy who wrote this program in the first place! http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6SWJGQTV http://rapidshare.com/files/77996022/Trade_Goods.pdf.html EDIT: Heh, the header to the introductory paragraph says "Economy" because I copy-pasted the tables and edited the paragraphs from my Darguun campaign writeup. Forgot to change it to something more meaningful--yet, it's close enough to the mark, I don't care, haha. If someone cared enough to want a corrected PDF or the original .ODT file, lemme know. |
