His clerics bestow not only good luck, but bad luck as well. I figured that the best way to represent this using the bell curve rolls variant on page 132 is by modifying (Mass) Auspicious Odds like so: (In)auspicious Odds Evocation Level: Luck 3 Components: V, S, M, DF Casting Time: 1 standard action Range: Touch Target: Creature touched Duration: 1 minute/level; see text Saving Throw: Will negates (sometimes harmless; see text) Spell Resistance: Yes (sometimes harmless; see text) When casting this spell, choose whether it will be used to give good or bad luck. If you bestow good luck, it is consdered harmless; bad luck is not. Good Luck: Whenever making an attack roll, saving throw, ability check, or skill check, the subject rolls 4d6 and drops the lowest die roll from the total rather than rolling 3d6. If, on a single roll, all four die results are 1s, the spell immediately ends. Bad Luck: Whenever making an attack roll, saving throw, ability check, or skill check, the subject rolls 4d6 and drops the highest die roll from the total rather than rolling 3d6. If, on a single roll, all four die results are 6s, the spell immediately ends. Inauspicious odds counters and dispels auspicious odds (and vice versa). Apply the same change to Mass Auspicious Odds. Also, Bestow greater curse could probably cause a permenant Inauspicious odds on its target. Do you think that this is balanced? |
