What would be the best class to Gestalt with an Artificer?

Cleric's and Druids are not allowed in the setting, anything else specifically published by WOTC for 3.5 is fair game, but not 3.0 material updated to 3.5.

I'm thinking that a Warforged Artificer / Fighter is the way to go, but I'm not convinced. The fighter levels give me a d10 hit die, a 1/1 BAB and bonus feats, is there a class that does better?

Thanks,

Ryan

If you want a healer, Archivist from Heroes of Horror is the way to go. You get access to all of the good cleric spells and the class is Int based, just like the artificer.

Otherwise, fighter/artificer is a good combo if you have the stats for it.

It may not be what you're looking for, but a gestalt Artificer//Warlock is pretty mean. Warlocks get some handy abilities as far as magic items go, and it'll allow you to dish it out without having to break out those infusions.

Artificer//Shaper might be pretty cool too.

Yeah, I was going to suggest a level or two of marshall to add your Cha mod to your Cha based checks; and then the rest in warlock so you can make yourself a staff that can cast both heal or harm and any arcane spell you want.

Need to be lvl 12 warlock to make any magic item you have the caster lvls for and you're really good to go gear-wise.

Artificer gets that same ability at first level. An artificer can make any item with a caster level of Artificer+2 as long as he makes a UMD roll. Warlock would add the Invocations and eldritch blasts, but I think a 1/1 BAB and ray wands (like scorching ray) would deal more damage.

Could a Rogue/Artificer get sneak attack damage within 30' with a wand of Scorching Ray?

Could a Rogue/Artificer get sneak attack damage within 30' with a wand of Scorching Ray?Yes, and I was going to suggest rogue, the two just feel like a good combination to me. Give up 3 levels of rogue for the Cannith Wand Adept and you'll have yourself one mean damage dealing wand (ab)user.
