i can't remember if I asked this before, if I did, oops! sorry.

I'm thinking of doing a blind clairsentient psion. I don't have UA, can someone tell me what the tradeoff is for having a blindness flaw?

Not quite sure, but I was contemplating this sort of character very recently and something like a blind exalted cleric character that is a reserved gnome would be amazing.

There is no "blind" flaw in Unearthed Arcana. But with flaws, taking one flaw means you gain a bonus feat.

Given that "Murkey Eyed" is one flaw, I think Blindness would count as two flaws - with the proviso that you can't have it healed. So you'd get two bonus feats for it.

Total blindness as a flaw should entitle a character to 2 or 3 bonus feats.

i think it should be one feat, but should aslo have a trait like quality to it. like a +4 to listen (since your other senses are more attuned)

The Touchsight power makes the blindness a moot point. A flaw that can be overcome so easily isn't much of a flaw. I would say one feat in this case.

Well you could always say that it's not the eyes, it's the entire neural pathways, so that any power that mimics sight will not work either - and then make it worth the full two feats. I think this is a better option because at one feat it may be balanced for a psion, but it would be very weak for anyone else.

I was actually toying with the idea of a trait that gives blindness and a +3 bonus to wisdom. The caveat is that you can never have anything that substitutes for sight (blindsight, tremorsense, or the like), or else you immediately lose the bonus.

This basically should mean that the character is worthless in combat unless it has enough ranks in Listen to pinpoint the enemies, in which case it would still miss 1/4 of all attacks (having spent a feat on blind-fighting).

Just about the only thing the character would be good at is divine spellcasting outside of combat on willing targets, which is a fair enough trade to make it balanced.

Imagine the unbelievable loneliness of a character that was both blind and deaf. Low Intelligence and Charisma, and a hell of a Wisdom score.

I would like to note that a blind divine spell-caster might eventually get enough levels to cure his own blindness

At which point the trait is removed, with the corresponding loss to wisdom.
