| Arco Versipellis01-21-06, 10:26 AM | My players, as well as I, are interested in using the bloodlines from Unearthed Arcana. However, I have some questions about the way a major bloodline works. It seems to me that taking a bloodline level is like taking a level in level adjustment, yet a major bloodline is twenty levels long. How would a character even get a chance to take a class with a major bloodline? It there no way to avoid the XP penalty. I guess, basically, how do you handle major bloodlines? |
| Disme01-21-06, 10:53 AM | The bloodlines don't work the same way classes do. At each indicated level you gain a bonus as well as advanceing in whatever class you have. Then, at the levels shown on Table 1-2 pg 20, instead of takeing a regular class level, he takes a bloodline level. For major this is 3rd, 6th, and 12th level. Important note; Any class ability that has an effect dependant on the level of the class (such as wizard's spellcaster check or druid's wildshape length) adds the levels of bloodline to determine the effect. Example given is Sorcerer3/Monk3/Bloodline2 would be a 5th lvl spellcaster and be a 5th lvl monk level based abilities (ie stunning fist DC) |
