| MadBlue03-25-05, 12:23 AM | This is a tangent from the Bonus Feats Based on Charisma (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=368471&page=1&pp=30) thread. I'm presenting this with the purpose of being used either based on Wisdom (to be used with my Charisma Bonus Feats house rule), or based on Charisma (instead of the Bonus Feats house rule). I could see it working either way (based on Wisdom or Charisma). If you haven't followed, or aren't interested in reading through the other thread but are wondering how I came up with Charisma, take a look Here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5573909&postcount=48). Here's the idea I have for Bonus Class Skills (and I'll use Wisdom for all the examples, although one could just substitute Charisma): A character can select one skill as a permanent class skill for each +1 bonus they have for a high Wisdom score. For example, a character with a Wisdom of 14 can pick two skills that are treated as permanent class skills (i.e., they become class skills for all classes the character takes). A permanent class skill can be any skill on your class skill list as a 1st level character, any cross-class skill that can be used untrained, or any one Knowledge skill (although, really, it might not be unbalancing to allow any skill). If you choose a skill that is already on your class skill list, in addition to becoming a permanent class skill for you, you get a +1 bonus to skill checks with that skill. If you have a penalty to Wisdom, for each -1 penalty, select a skill on your class skill list at 1st level. That skill is treated as a permanent cross-class skill for you for all classes. You can never learn that class as a class skill (but see below). Spells and magic items that increase or lower your Wisdom have no effect on bonus/penalty class skills (similar to Intelligence and skill points). If increasing your Wisdom by a Wish, or through level-based ability improvement grants a Wisdom bonus, you can select another skill to be a class skill from that point onward (but you don't get a +1 bonus if it's on any of your class skill lists). If you increase your Wisdom such that you no longer have a penalty (or have a lesser penalty), (one of) the class skill(s) you designated as a "permanent cross-class skill" at 1st level is treated normally (i.e., it becomes a class skill for the classes it would normally be a class skill for). Anyway, that's it. Comments, pro or con? MadBlue |

It slightly increases the worth of Wisdom, and it also adds flavour by allowing a character to fairly easily have a few 'personal skills' that they can excel at free from class restriction. Of course, this along with the Charisma-based bonus feats will likely serve to make people more easily eligible for PrCs. |

Although in most cases they'll still be the same level before they can enter the PrC because of Rank, class ability or spell-level requirements, they'll just be able to spend resources on other things as well (which might be an issue for some). Then again, a high-Intelligence character can meet Rank requirements more easily than a low-Intelligence character, by virtue of having more skill points to spend, so in this case Wisdom and Charisma would be in good company. :D MadBlue |
