Bonus spell points formula? [Archive] - Wizards Community

I'm trying myself, but I'm not exactly a math whiz... x.x

what is the formula for figuring spell points to begin with? i'd like to know it as im thinking about running a war-craft game using the SP system. there are also a fair amount of prestige classes that have their own spell lists, i'd be handy to be able to convert them.

04-08-04, 02:27 AM It is based on the standard bonus spell list, converted into spellpoints.

For instance, a spellcaster with a key ability score of 20 would get these bonus spells:

2 1 1 1 1

In the spellpoint system he now gets:

2 5 10 17 26

which is the same as

2 x 1 SP (for 1st-level spells)
2 x 1 SP + 1 x 3 SP (for 2nd-level spells)
2 x 1 SP + 1 x 3 SP + 1 x 5 SP (for 3rd-level spells)
2 x 1 SP + 1 x 3 SP + 1 x 5 SP + 1 x 7 SP (for 4th-level spells)

and so forth...

A typical spell cost its' ((level x 2) - 1) spell points to cast.

I hope this made it clearer.

Essentially, total the SP value of the bonus spells that would normally be granted, and that's the bonus.
