It is quite simple, You get just as many bonus spells on level 0 spells as you do on level 1 spells from a high ability modifier.

It don't seem to broken from my point of view (DM).

It has always struck me as strange that you don't get more of them. Especially since they to me are what a spell caster (arcane at least) become spell casters for, those little handy spells that makes your life easier in everyday situations. I was going for a system where you got more of them, but I figured it would just be more work to calculate, so I went for the solution I present you with here.

Any thoughts?

can't you already use higher splots to cast 0th spells? I'm quite sure you can.

That is not what the OP is talking about. The OP is talking about getting bonus spells (from having high ability scores) for the level 0 spells since for some reason you don't get bonus ones.

@OP
I doesn't seem at all broken since they are just level 0 spells and if the higher ones are allowed to get them then so should the lowest of them.

the way i did it
what ever you got for 1st level you got for 0-level
a couple of my players wanted me to stage the advancement like the rest of the advancements

I have just one final question, does anyone know why you don't get bonus spells at that spell level? It just seems plain stupid to me...

the math behind bonus spell slot is this:
1+(I-X)/4; I >= X
with I your Int bonus and X the spell rank (1st to 9th)

it is not unreasonable to make it work for 0th spells too

I personally use this formula :
3 + abilitymodifier + level
My players love it :D
