| The Italian01-14-05, 12:48 AM | Hey, can someone explain to me how the UA rules for level adjustment works? Say I want to buy off a LVL2 adjustment, how would I go about it? |
| gbnogkfs01-14-05, 12:10 PM | when you get to total class level of 6 (LAx3), you remove (ECL-1)x1000 XPs, remove 1 LA, and get back one Equivalent Level. Then, after 3 more class levels (LAx3), you repeat the procedure. EXAMPLE: you have a 4 HD +2 LA race. Since you have +2 LA, you need to collect 2x3=6 class levels (racial HDs don't count) before buying off your first Level Adjustment. Let's say you take 6 levels of Fighter. Now your total ECL would be 4 (racial HDs) + 6 (fighter levels) +2 (Level Adjustment) = 12; that also means you have 66,000 Xps. Immediately after you have leveled up, you now expend (12-1)x1,000=11,000 XPs, which makes you get to 55,000 XPs, and you reduce your LA from +2 to +1; you now have an ECL of 4 (racial HDs) + 6 (fighter levels) +1 (Level Adjustment) = 11. You now take 1(updated ECL)x3=3 more levels of fighter, getting to a would-be-ECL of 4 (racial HDs) + 9 (fighter levels) +1 (Level Adjustment) = 14, and you would have 91,000 XPs. Now you expend (14-1)x1,000=13,000 XPs, reduce to 91,000-13,000=78,000 XPs (ECL 13) and reduce your LA from +1 to +0. You get to a character of Level 13 (4+9) with LA +0 and 78,000 XPs. That's it. |
