Buying off LA & Multy LA's How does this work [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-03-04, 03:15 PM Hello i have 2 characters that are "home brew vampires"
with an ecl of 6
i know they can buy off 1 at level 18 then 33 so on and so forth
but they want to become "elder vampires" Vampire lords
now the ECL increases from 6 to 8 then from 8 to 11
with my home brew vampire
now how do i deal with this
what happenes when they buy off lets say 2 LAs and bring it down to ecl 4
then they get the advanced vampire templete and their ecl increases by 2
any help would be much appreciated

03-16-04, 11:54 AM I wouldn't think that you can buy down any level adjustments from templates. The book does not mention templates, so I'd allow only the racial levels to be bought down.

I'd think that you'd use the racial levels to determine when they can buy it down, but use the template levels to determine how much it costs, just as if the template levels were racial hit dice.
