Changing an existing campaign [Archive] - Wizards Community

I am currently running an Eberron campaign and while it is going well, I'm starting to feel a bit of a clash between the standard D&D rules and the swashbuckling style of the world.

I'm thinking of implimenting several changes:

1) Hex-based mapping: Easier to adjudicate on the fly, thus speeding up combat.

2) Class defense bonus: Would reduce the reliance on armor, thus fitting the style more.

3) Wound/Vitality points: Again, makes describing things in swashbuckling terms so much easier.

There are a couple that I'm waffling on:

4) Reserve Points: This is not a bad rule in and of itself, plus since we don't have a cleric it would certainly make things easier.

5) Armor as DR: This rule just seems to go with the class defense bonus and VP/WP rule like marshmallow for the chocolate and grahm crackers.

Now, here comes the problem: We are well into the campaign, and implimenting these in the middle could easily cause a lot of confusion. Hex-based mapping is the easiest without breaking continuity, but the others could make things very confusing. Do you think it's a good idea to impliment any of these rules? If so, should I do it all at once or ease it in gradually?

Thanks in advance.
