| God of Slivers03-16-05, 07:14 PM | After pondering what to use charisma for I have decided on action points. However I would like to change them a little bit. I would prefer it if the action points were more a x/day, x/week, x/month kind of thing, rather than a cumulitive x/level. Maybe something like your charisma mod/week worth of action points. Obviously they would not be cumulitive. If you have a negative charisma modifier then x/week the dm could use one to do a negative effect on your rolls and feats and such. What do you guys (and gals) think? |

Works out pretty well. From what I've seen, it's easiest if you either have action points respawn every level, every game session, or every adventure (ie, one 'mission' that takes more than one game session). |

| Lina_Inverse03-18-05, 11:02 PM | So no one has any thoughts on my x/week action points where x is your charisma modifier? generally not.mostly because sometimes youll do alot in one week.and sometimes youll do little.so some weeks youll be less powerful some more. x/week things dont work well really.x/day does because the game factors in how much youll do in a day. |

The problem with an x/day action point system is that it would get out of hand rather easy. Even if it was charisma mod a day that would be a LOT of action points available to some characters. And theres just something about an x/level system that I don't like. Any suggestions? |
| MadBlue03-19-05, 12:46 PM | God of Slivers, I wrote this in another thread, but it might be helpful here: An idea I had been working on is this: Every character has an Action Point pool equal to 5 +/- Charisma modifier. These points are replenished each level and can be spent on adding to a d20 roll or stabilizing. Limiting what APs can be spent on makes it less invasive to a system not designed to use APs, and not increasing the amount of APs per level makes Charisma a more important factor and encourages players to spend them wisely. In a way, they're more like "Last Resort Points" than Action Points. If you want them to be replenished more than once a level, I'm not sure what would be the appropriate time frame, since some adventures could take many sessions to play but only a day or two pass in the campaign. On the other hand, some sessions could deal with a week or two of uneventful travel. Of course that can be said about every "X times per week" ability in the game. ;) MadBlue |

Any suggestions? except the system is based on a per day basis.your assumed to be at full power after a single day,two at most(spend a day with the cleric healing you).so an X/day thing is the only viable one. personally i suggest x/session.(chamod+level)/2 per session. |

I hate abilities that are dependant on the session. Its so arbitrary. How do you justify this in game? No, I will never use this. I would like to do an x/day thing with them, but that could get out of hand. I'm sure I'll think of something though. |
