| Ashanti11-14-06, 10:32 AM | My group and I are toying with adding BAB to AC in such a way that it would add to your touch AC (so the default 10 would be 10+BAB). This would only work for We have thought of this for a few reasons: 1: Warrior types would get a bigger boost to survivability (we play Dark Sun so cleric only have light armour). 2: Giant tenticled creatures (Dark Sun) have a harder time grappling the improved touch AC. 3: Ranged touch attacks are harder also. 4: Higher level warriors would be more able to keep up with equal CR monsters. 5: AC would more so keep up with AB. 6: Warriors really would kick arse at higher levels and feel less out shined by full casters. Now, the problem we have is what to do with the AC provided by armour. I say just add it on and let the warriors save some money on amulets of natural armour et al. Or turn it into to DR or some mix of DR and reduced AC. Any thoughts? |

If survivability is your goal then Grim-n-Gritty is definitely not for you (there's a reason they call it that), but this particular change doesn't seem to affect balance all that much. One word of warning, however: it does make the AC bonuses that a monk gets far less advantageous. |
