Class defense with Armor Variant [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-22-04, 07:47 AM Here's an idea i had whilst stocking shelves at work last night:

OKay, normally class bonus to defense doesn't stack with AC from Armor, right?

I use the Armor as DR in my campaign, as well as the VP/WP system and the Class Defense Bonus.

So what if a PC wearing armor subtracts the armor's check penalty from his class defense bonus instead of having to select one or the other? The class defense bonus cannot go below 0 with this variant.

just an idear.

07-24-04, 04:21 PM Well i have used the rules you are refering to and i came to this conclusion: use only in a low magic world.I used it on my birthright campaign with almost no magic items and it turned out very nice for game balance. If you want to use it in a magic rich world I suggest you reduce the defence bonus from cass levels. And the VP/WP rocks! No more did my players ignore large groups of low level opponents, bringing a more believable gaming experience.
