I posted this earlier on the Classes board and I haven't gotten much response, so in the interest of the cross pollenization of Ideas, and since my question involves UA material, I have decided to post here. What follows is my question as posted on the Class Boards:

Were a character to take levels in both Barbarian and the Druidic Avenger Varient from Unearthed Arcana, how would those levels interact? I'm away from my books at the moment and so am working off the cuff and this question my be explicitly answered in the text for Druidic Avenger, but I don't remember.

First lets discuss Fast Movement. A Barbarian's fast movement is an unnamed bonus, the Druidic Avenger's fast movement says it is identical to the Barbarian ability of the same name, therefore it is also an unnamed bonus. Unnamed bonus stack and I therefore conclude that a Barbarian/Druidic Avenger would get the benefit of both.

The next point is the one I have more mixed feelings about. How would you handle the interaction of the Druidic Avenger's Rage and the Barbarian's? As I see it there are two ways to go about this. You could assume that a characters Druidic Avenger levels stack with Barbarian levels for the purposes of calculating the number of Rage's per day (this is the part that I think might be explicitly stated in Unearthed Arcana, but I can't remember for sure), or you could assume that each class grants a separate progression for number of Rages per day and sum the number given from each class for a grand total number of rages available to the character on any given day.

Does anyone have an opinion, or commentary on my analysis they would like to offer?

I'd only grant the fast movement once, since typically class features don't stack with themselves. Assuming the rage progressions are identical (don't have UA on hand), those should stack.

They would be seperate abilities and wouldnt be based off another. The rages would not stack unless they specificly state they do in the class feature (which they dont in this case) It even states in the UA that the druidic avengers rage doesnt get increases to give it greater rage , or mighty rage versions.

An example of this would be like a monk class and most any PRC made specifcly for monk advancement. they usually say this class levels stack for determining stunning fist, ac, etc etc

So you would gain different rages from the 2 classes, and the movement would be seperate and since unnamed i would say they might stack. tho im not certain on movement bonuses if they work he same as normal ones.

So to clairify what your saying, Arishem, a Barbarian, Druidic Avenger would have rage from two separate and distinct sources, therefore the total number of times a character could rage in a given day would equal the number of rages from Barbarian + the number of rages from Druidic Avenger. Fast movement also stacks. Therefore a Barbarian 1/Druidic Avenger 1 would be able to rage twice per day, and also would have a +20 unnamed bonus to movement.

This is also how I first read the rule, however I had to question a combination that let a second level character rage as often as a 5th level Barbarian.

well... you are playing gestalt, aren't you?

however, would anyone allow a wizard / loremaster level to add +2 levels of spellcasting at a time?

No, I am not nor do I ever plan to play gestalt. That is unless I dust off my seconed edition books, but then we'll go ahead and call him multiclass like the book says and give him a 50% exp penalty.
