i am curious if someone has already tried making a "classless" version of D&D, using a "build point" system to dertermine HD, BAB, stats, feats, skills, abilities, ect...

if so, can someone point me in the general direction?

There's a thread about it on the D20 fantasy forum right now, complete with a pdf file. I skimmed it, seems ok, but I haven't examined it in detail, as classless isn't something I want for my campaign.

You could try the Generic Class system from Unearthed Arcana (pg 76)

Personally, aside from my expansions to the generic classes (check signature for details), I'm leaning towards allowing players to create their character classes from scratch, however they want, balanced be screwed.

BESM d20 has the "Adventurer" class. It, um... yeah, it does the blank thing.

BESM, Hero System, GURPS... i have played normal BESM before, i looked over Gurps once or twice (no one plays the system as far as i know) but never even seen a Hero System book in my FLGS. i never heard of BESM d20

problem is, none of the systems i have played are close enough to get the "D&D" experience. i like the d20 resolution system as a whole but i am curious if it is possible to do a point-buy D20, instead of going with classes.
