I am working on a feat based classless system where Charicters would get a number of feats at level 1 and a few more each level.

Where I am having diffeculty is deciding on specific class featurs as to how to convert it into a feat. These class featurs are the ones I would like your Opinions on (my thoughts)

1. Rage X/day (2/day)
2. Sneak Attack +xd6 Damage (+2d6)
3. Bardic Music Ability x/day (2/day)
4. Wild Shape x/day (1/day)
5. Inspire Courage +x (+2)
6. Trap Sence +x (+2)
7. Slow Fall X' (10'' Starting AT 20')
8. Smite Evil X/day (1/day)
This is the bonus one feat would give you and should be close to equivlent of other feats
thank you

1.worth more than feat.+1 rage WHEN YOU HAVE IT,is worth a feat on its own.
2.+2 damege on all attacks is a feat, sneak attack is +1d6.
3.4 more a day is a feat, but you dont get any musics known.
4..........wild shape is a lvl4 spell,worth 3+ feats.
5.i dont care
7.is 15 ranks in tumble.
8.id say about there.

the problem is spellcasting even a lvl1spell/day is worth a feat, wizards will be impossible to build.and if it cant even build all the core classes its inherently not worth doing.

Change rage to 1/day and sneak to 1d6.
Im sure the idea is workable, just keep at it
(the classes may not be balanced to the old classes)

Just play generics --- it's basically the same thing. But if you want truly classless gameplay, then the "class feature feats" in the generics rules may work well. :)

The reason I set rage to 2/day was because there is a feat in the compleat worrior that gives this ability.

Sneak attack I decided an average damage of +3.5 (1d6) was not enough boost to worent a feat when it could not use it for every hit like with weapon specilization (+2 Damage) I have conteplated 2 things here 1 was going with 2d4 (average +5 Damage) Or stick with the 2d6 (average +7 Damage) What i didnt post last time was the prerequisits and that is because i have not decided yet but if i go with the 2d6 damage the prerequisits would be higher.

The system is going to be completly classless the charicter are going to get a # of feats at first level to determon hit dice, BAB, Saves, Skills, Abilitys, ect then they will get a # of feats per level (probably 2)

I also dont think that a feat is only worth a 1st level spell i think it ranges from 1-4th level with higher ones having more dificult prerequests.

Spell casting i am still working on and hammering out the details I will make another post for it when I am done. probably in the next few days.

Please keep up with your opinions i havent decided yet.

Just a thought, you could make Spells per Day and Spells Known both dependant on a Character's ranks in Concentration and Spellcraft and maybe Knowledge (Arcana). And then grant a feat that grants one or two more spells known or spells per day, or something.

Any ability you take from an existing class to put into a classless system should be the -base- ability, representing what you'd get if you were getting that ability for the first time by taking levels in that class. Then you scale that new ability with more feats. Especially if you're handing out two feats per level (which is going to get ridiculous if you don't have a LOT of feats in your game, not saying you don't have that - just warning you that two or three books worth of feats only is going to make a lot of characters seem alike, or a lot of NPCs seem alike.. or something).

For example... the Favoured Enemy feat would grant +2 on weapon damage rolls, bluff, listen, sense motive, spot, and survival when used against the chosen creature type. If you want that bonus to be +4 - you gotta take the feat again. If you want to add a second type of creature - gotta take the feat again.

Here's an idea.

1 Feat =
4 SP
+1 BAB
+2 BSB
5 HP

using this a 20th level Fighter would have
20 Feats = +20 BAB
6 feats = +12 Base Fort
3 feats = +6 Base Ref
3 feats = +6 Base Will
11.5 feats = 46 SP
~21 feats = 20D10HP w/max at first level
11 Feats = 11 Bonus fighter feats
6 feats = 1 every 3 levels

for a total of 81.5 feats at 20th level

Also using this system you would have to give character +con modifier to HP every level and +Int modifier to SP at every level even if they didn't take the feat to get more HP or SP.

Thank you for your comments.
more are still welcome because nothing is writen in stone yet

I decided to go with at least for play testing

1. Rage X/day (1/day) (extra 2/day)
2. Sneak Attack +xd6 Damage (+2d6)
3. Bardic Music Ability x/day (2/day)
4. Wild Shape x/day (1/day)
5. Inspire Courage +x (+2)
6. Trap Sence +x (+2)
7. Slow Fall X' (10'' Starting AT 20')
8. Smite Evil X/day (1/day)

I am now going to post spell casting feats and BAB,HP,Skill Points, and saves on other posts.
