| Orwyn03-01-04, 10:57 AM | Can someone please sum up the differences between standard Cleric and the Cloistered Cleric? So far I have figured: Cleric: Medium base attack, 1D8 HD, medium/heavy armor proficiency, 2+Int skill points. Cloistered Cleric: Bad base attack, 1D6 HD, light armor proficiency, 6+Int skill points, Bardic Knowledge, Knowledge as bonus domain. I heard the Cloistered Cleric gets few more spells on their spell list. Are they entirely Divination? Are there any other differences, like in saves, class skills, Turn Undead? Please help me out. Thanks in advance. |
| Kaardomos03-01-04, 01:48 PM | Everything is the same as the regular cleric except what you mentioned and the following: -Decipher script and speak language are class skills(along with all knowledge skills, but that's a benefit of the knowledge domain). -The following spells are added to their spell list: erase, identify, unseen servant, fox's cunning, illusory script, secret page, tongues(reduced from 4th to 3rd level), detect scrying, analyze dweomer, sequestor, and vision. |
| stone_dog03-01-04, 01:52 PM | They also have Decipher Script, Speak Language and all knowledge skills as class skills. The spells you are thinking of are message;1st erase, identify, unseen servant;2nd fox's cunning; 3rd illusory script, secret page, tounges; 4th detect scrying; 5th nothing; 6th analyze dweomer; 7th sequester; 9th vision. Other than that it does not say there are any other changes. (Edit- Damn you Kaardomos! Damn you and your swift typing!! ;) ) |
| NorthSaber03-01-04, 04:45 PM | For ages I've house-ruled similar cleric variants, as in the more traditional fantasy games I find that priests are like divine wizards - no armor, no weaponry, simply their spells and heals. The Cloistered Cleric (which I simply call Priest) fills this role very nicely. (PS: It might just be that I played a few fantasy games that had unarmored priests when I was a kid and the stereotype stuck with me.) |
| jagggar03-01-04, 04:58 PM | Any thoughts on multi-classing the Cloiseterd Cleric with the regular Cleric? Or should they be kept seperate? |
| strenoth03-01-04, 06:01 PM | ONE OR THE OTHER! that's my ruling... that's like multi classing Envoker and illusionist, or sorcerer & battle sorcerer... |
| Xeviat-DM03-01-04, 07:11 PM | So? Multiclassing Druid and Cleric is fine by the rules. |
| TrueExodite03-01-04, 07:25 PM | So, essentially, the Cloistered Cleric is a Bard with no ASF in any armor, turning, 9th level spells, far more versatile spell list, more castings per day and some domain powers? Oh, and minus Bardic Music - whatever that's worth. While they have worse BAB they still get Divine Favor and Divine Power right? |
| magicmarker1311-09-04, 06:04 PM | yeah, i'm having the same problem with the cloistered cleric, i was going to play a changeling bard investigator type guy in a new eberron campaign, and then when i saw this class i flipped. yeah, the bard has some better skill selection, bab, and bardic music, but the cleric has TONS more spells, the ability to cast spells that make him a better fighter than the bard, and domain powers, one of them could be trickery, and would offset quite quickly the skill advantage of the bard, and on top of all that, undead turning, an ability that is incredibly useful, powerful, and tons better than any type of undead strategy a bard could come up with. |
