First I think it is a great idea but on the other hand all the skills where a complex use would make sense are also skills where you could easilty take ten. So what gain do you have if you need more rolls but the Player always asks: "Can I take ten?" Thus I like the original skill use very much. A more complex skill system would be like "The dark eye". There every skill is related to three abilites. Thus if you want to make a check you have to make abiliy checks. And the higher your skill rank the more you can exceed your DC but it is considered as a success. Greetings, your Crazy_DM |

I think that in most cases where take 10 could be used it will have the same effects as take 10 does on regular skill use ... i.e. it takes 10 times as much time. I will admit however I haven't read over the complete complex skill system yet and do not have my book here at work with me. I will post back with more thoughts later when I get home. |

However, I'd be very leery about takeing ten whenever a complex skill check was involved, unless I could re-try... An auto-failure is not a good thing. |

I confused it with taking 20 which takes more time ... 2 minutes for something that is normally done in a single round ... just assumed that taking 10 connoted the same thing ... well you know what happens when you assume .... |
