I am going to DM a Gestalt campaign in the Forgotten Realms soon and I need other oppinions how to convert mayor realms characters like The Simbul and Elminster into Gestalts without losing theier flavor(elminster for examble started his carrer as Fighter1 followed by Rogue 2 and Cleric 3 until he finally got out that he would be a great wizard so Wizard 20 Archmage 5 and Wizard till level 24.
help would be very apreciated

Well, in this case you would either build each class from scratch using the Gestalt rules or you would get someone here to do all the work for you.

I don't think there is an easy way to do this since the variations would be based on individuals taste on how specific NPC's would actually work. At each level, you would have to pick another level to combine with, and that is a monumental task for someone of the power of elminster.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to use powered up versions of the 11 base classes for NPCs heres a Fighter variant for Gestalt campaigns:

As Fighter exept: 6 Skillpoints per level d12 add in Bonus Feats at level 5 9 13 and 17 Mettle of Fortitude at level 3 Improved Mettle of Fortitude at level 7 and perhaps one more good save uncanny dodge and Improvend uncanny dodge as Barbarian

I just thought this up and its now way balanced, just to show what I mean.

Is something like that actually usable ? Making small alterations of the base classes for NPCs ?

Rogue variant:
As standart Rogue exeot: bonus Feats at level at level 2 5 8 11 14 17 20 one more good save either will or fort. proficent with all martial weapons and Defense Bonus as Monk in light armor
