| CrippleMrOnion09-15-06, 06:25 PM | The game rules are quite strict, I agree, but not "bad." I've both been a counterspeller/dispeller as a player and have a bard who's been counterspelling/dispelling quite effectively in my game. Though it's not at all glorious, being patient and readying actions is all it takes to counterspell well. While you may not be getting a kill, countering a second fireball after the first one nearly put half the party down is just as important as hacking trolls. |

When he starts casting a spell, cast a spell like magic missle to interupt his casting. At this point the enemy must make a concentration check to continue casting. Downsides to this vs. counter spelling? They might still cast the spell. Upside to this vs. counter spelling? They take damage, you don't have to use a high level spell or have the right spell for the job, you don't have to make a skill check that might fail, that's all I can think of but there may be more. |

But i've also been think that perhaps Wizards could simple prepair a counterspell slot? Perhaps it's just like a spell that only is used to counterspell. |
